Lived here for a year. Apartments themselves are nice and management is pretty cool when it comes to pets which was nice and hard to find. Had a lower level apartment, which for some reason would not cool down when windows were open so air was ran year round which made electric bills high. Utility bill was also extremely high for 2 people. Our neighbor was constantly digging in the public trash can bringing stuff we through away home so we never felt safe throwing any bills away. When we moved out management (Roxanne) tried saying the carpet from our apartment was new but we had videos from move in day with previous management (Linda) showing carpet was already stained and old. They tried telling us we had to pay to professionally clean them and when we went to the apartment to see the cleaned carpets, there was laminate put down so they were actually trying to get money from us to help with cost of laminate. They also tried charging us 300$ to paint the whole apartment white which it already was and when we went to look at carpet we could see they only painted over the patches from nail holes so be careful to take pictures of move in and move out. My mail got delivered to the wrong apartment number more than once and instead of the person bringing my mail to me they kept it. Didn't even return to sender. The BBQ area is infested with roaches so BBQing is a hit or miss. Kids are constantly climbing the fence and going into the pool area unattended. 50% of the time when we would go to the office to drop off rent management (Roxanne) wouldn't be in during operating hours. Sometimes we would have to wait 30 minutes to an hour for no one to show up. The gate was almost always broken so you never felt safe even though it was a gated community. At one point they fixed it and we thought it was still broken because our code wouldn't work anymore so we went to (Roxanne) to see if we could get another fob since it had been broken for over a month come to find out they changed the code and didn't inform its residents. Homeless people were constantly roaming through trying to see if people accidentally left the garbage area unlocked. The ditch around the apartment is always filled with sleeping homeless people and during the hot days it really starts to stink. The homeless people are also constantly fighting each other so if you take the trash out at night, you'll most likely hear someone screaming profanity at each other just outside the gate. Also homeless people like to sleep behind the Artesia sign so when you're walking into your apartment you get cat called or asked for money. You only get 1 parking spot and parking on street your vehicle will get scratched, dented, broken into, or even stolen. When we signed our lease the management (Linda) promised to work on getting us an extra spot but then (Roxanne) wouldn't give us the time of day to try to give us one. We had a neighbor move in, husband and wife, they got two spots. Only had one vehicle. The husband was 98 and could no longer drive. They give certain apartments 2 spaces even if the apartment doesn't need 2 spaces instead of doing a waiting list for new residents. So get to know your neighbors, they might let you use their extra spot because it never gets parked in and they might feel bad you've been walking a mile to your car every night and morning. My husband even found a homeless man sleeping in his truck bed when he left for work one morning. The pool and hot tub is a pretty nice area. Sometimes there are too many bees but it's relaxing without the bees. The HOA cleans up the property really well and the man that does the yard work is pretty sweet and reliable. The neighbors like to bring their trash down in the morning on their way to work and instead of unlocking the trash area they leave their trash bags on the side of the trash area. Also our upstairs neighbors when they weren't charging through the house sounding like elephants keeping us up, they were letting their dogs out on the balcony to use the bathroom so their piss would run onto our patio area soaking our rugs, chairs and other stuff. And during the day for the most part we couldn't keep our patio door open for the breeze because our neighbor would open their door and their apartment smelt so bad like catpiss that it would fill our home with catpiss smell and if their door wasn't open then they were outside smoking pot for hours making it stink horribly right outside everyone's home. read more
