Larisse and her teachers are fabulous! My children attended their first art class and could not say enough about how much fun they had. Then I attended a paint night with Larisse and I had not picked up a paintbrush since kindergarten and thought for sure I was going to be horrible but the teaching skills we so darn good that I was shocked at my end product. Seriously proud of what I was able to do with great instruction. It just showed me that good teachers are worth their weight in gold. I highly recommend this art studio for all ages and skill levels.

Adult art classes at Art with Larisse are everything I hoped for and more! Larisse is an excellent instructor, really striving to meet students where they're at in terms of skill-level and interests. I have only been attending classes for a few months, but already feel that my core art skills and techniques have significantly improved. I really look forward to attending Larisse's art classes, as they're not only fun and engaging, but also feel like a "massage for my brain" from a mental health and self-care point of view. I would 100% recommend Larisse's art classes to anyone, no matter what age or skill level -- classes are so worth it!

I've attended several paint and sips at both Orfila and Granite Lion Cellar locations and look forward to them every month when I can join! It's always a fun time and great excuse to get together with friends to catch up or celebrate a special occasion! Both locations offer scenic views and gorgeous backdrop of the vineyards. Larisse is very warm, friendly, and engaging. She's a fabulous instructor! I also recommend packing a few snacks so you can enjoy a little spread during the lesson while you sip your wine. Most recently we hosted my daughter's birthday party with Art with Larisse at her La Mesa studio and it was a big hit! Parents dropped their kids off for a group lesson. They each got to pick their own subject, learned about drawing/ shading techniques, and worked with pastels. After they played a few games and enjoyed birthday treats. Thank you for taking the stress out of birthday prep and planning! We had an incredible time and highly recommend!

My son has been attending Art with Larisse in la Mesa for many years here. It is the one after school class he cannot wait for. He has learned so much from the great instruction. This kids life is all art, and loves all the different types they learn from acrylic, to water to oils. Not only are the classes great, but this place has become his comfort place to go and be himself. I cannot say enough good things about our experience here. He even now paints at home amazing art pieces and he is only 10.Thank You.

The teachers care and encourage him and the other students so well, and I cannot think of a better place for my son to be. Since starting Foothills Christian High School I have seen such an amazing change in him. He loves his classes, especially History and Math, and he loves the teachers. He joined Cross Country and Lacrosse and he's never had so many coaches pour so much time and energy into him. They've challenged him athletically but also spiritually and push him to be his best. I've seen him grow in so many areas and I know it's from being at this particular high school. They challenge the students to be dependable , God fearing, and upstanding young men and women. This is only our second year there, and I cannot wait to see what the next two years look like for him.

My experience with the SDSU Veterans Center was in 2021…read more I originally contacted the Veterans Center for counseling on what my next steps are and how to go through using my post-9/11 benefits. After being bounced around through a few emails I had an online meeting roughly 3 weeks later to which I was told that the online meetings are for current students only. When I told them that I was simply looking for counseling for prospective students, one of the staffers (who doesn't work there anymore) laughed at me. She forgot to mute herself and rolled her eyes after complaining that there were other things she needed to be doing. I sent a complaint to Todd Kennedy who was at the time the head of the veterans center, and although he was very apologetic about the situation I didn't feel that the issue with his staff was resolved. He replied that the counseling position that I was in need of recently was cut from the budget so they could not help in that regard, but he assured me that he would talk to his staff. Although this review is a long time coming I feel that veterans should understand that your experience may vary. I am sure things may have improved since the two years I inquired, however, I haven't been back to verify.

Their reasoning is that they can't provide services without this data and signing in after you start talking is not an option. The front desk person was explaining how everything worked during my first visit and the supervisor rudely interrupted him to deny me access to information. I literally couldn't listen anymore and did not get the information I needed. They are insensitive and unpersonable. It felt robotic. This school has enough problems and these people are just being part of those problems instead of being a welcoming break. They also haven't updated their location on the map in years, which means I had to walk all over campus to find them.

GSDA provides an alternative T-K through 12th grade educational setting, appealing to families from all walks of life. It's amazing to watch our homeschool parents learn and refine their homeschooling techniques, and I love being a part of that experience. Our high school independent study program is amazing - students don't slip through the cracks at GSDA because the high school team knows exactly how to address the educational and emotional needs of all types of kids. It is an "everyone knows everyone" type of atmosphere. The consultants go above and beyond to make sure that all students are successful, something that is really hard to find in a traditional high school setting. Working at a small school gives all of us the opportunity to get to know each student personally. I love being able to try different curricula, projects, and teaching techniques with my families. No two kids learn in the same way, and GSDA provides a supportive environment for all types of learners. It's a great place to work!

She will be attending a 4 year university in the fall, and she feels that this would not have been possible without the support of her consultant and other teachers at GSDA. She became involved in the ASB, and she enjoyed this as well. We are very happy that we made this decision. A lot of parents don't know that there are choices out there, and that they can make a choice that might make a difference for their child's future. Every student is different, and this school makes a great effort to meet each student's needs. Good job, GSDA!

If so, I highly suggest you check out SET High (formerly Coleman Tech Charter School). Our son graduated from SET High last year and now our daughter is attending and we couldn't be happier. She is only in 9th grade and already taking on leadership roles. The teachers exceed my expectations. They know each student by name, have great relationships with them. My son's former teachers are always happy to see him when he goes to visit, which is often. He even gave graduation presents TO some of his teachers before he left. The students are geeky, wacky, nerdy, different, intelligent, unique, confident, and wonderful! My daughter said that she didn't want to go to any other school because she is with "her people" and she is right. Dr. McCurdy said in last year's commencement speech, "If you aren't failing, you aren't learning." What a great place to make mistakes, learn from them, and make improvements. I'm so excited for the students attending SET High because they are learning real-world skills at such an early age in a supportive, caring, and fun environment. You won't find a better school for your student!
