They offer homework assistance before school every morning in the library starting at 8 am. My son doesn't utilize it, but I'm sure if he needed to we would. He's been able to maintain an A average all year. His teachers are great. I love that they all embrace technology in the classroom, a marked improvement from elementary school. I especially love his speech and language therapist, she is just fantastic. She made the transition so smooth for him. I wish everyone had her excitement and passion for work. She is a great asset to this district. I know his life and time at Parkway Middle School is vastly improved for having her in it. Rather than focusing on past issues I have had with the district, I would just like to say that my experience with this school has been much more positive and I feel that my son has definitely experienced a better environment over here. I've also witnessed how they deal with behavior issues while on campus picking my son up for appointments. I was pleased with the approach; it was firm, fair and consistent.

We feel incredibly grateful to be part of such a warm, welcoming, and enriching school community…read more From the very beginning, our family has felt supported not just academically, but personally as well. The teachers and staff truly go above and beyond to create an environment where each child feels seen, valued, and encouraged to grow. We currently have three children at the school, and each of them has had such a positive and unique experience. The balance between strong academics and character development is something we deeply appreciate. It's clear that the school is focused on nurturing the whole child, building confidence, kindness, and a genuine love for learning. One of the highlights for our family has been the musical program. Our daughters have been involved in the school musical, and it has been such a meaningful experience for them. Not only have they grown in confidence and creativity, but they've also formed friendships across different grade levels, which has been so special to see. The sense of community that comes from these programs is truly something unique. We couldn't be happier with our experience and feel lucky every day to be part of this amazing school. It's a place where children are encouraged to thrive, friendships flourish, and families feel genuinely connected.

I have only GREAT things to say about Mt. Helix Academy!!…read more My little 3rd grader has THRIVED at this school. Known to be very shy and often wouldn't participate in class, we were desperate. There wasn't ever any trouble, just no willingness to be part of school functions, class projects, and we were about to succumb to the idea that was just the way it was. No joy for school or even extra-curricular activities. Well... these teachers did amazing things!! My child is like a whole new kid. The small class sizes helped them focus on my child's needs, and the care the teachers showed made such a difference. Now my child loves school, can't wait to "try" math (it can still be hard) and is in the school play! I would have never thought this could happen. I was just looking for a place where a child could feel welcome and loved, and, oh yeah - learn. I am so very thankful that we took a chance on Mt. Helix Academy. I can't recommend them enough!

In my opinion this is the best school in the entire city. There are many reasons for this, which I…read morewill gladly elaborate: Education is the most important thing. Teachers here are not interested in making friends with students (although it does happen) Their only goal is to teach students and make them smarter. Sports are a serious business here. Not only do they care about stimulating the mind, they also are huge believers in motivating and nourishing the body. Spirituality, although I am not a religious person (at all...) it never bothered me while I was here, they teach in a subtle and not in a "in-your-face" type of way. They had a more practical approach to it. They were really demanding, and wouldn't accept anything less than excellence from their students. If someone was falling behind, they did a good job at reaching out and helping out the student in any way needed. Good education, good people, good establishment.

I wish i could rate this 0 stars!…read more I had the WORST time here! I joined in 9th grade a couple of years ago and the bullying started only 3 minutes in. I got called slurs on a daily bases multiple times a day by many different kids. I was bullied so relentlessly that i couldn't even make it past November Break my 10th grade year and that was after wanting to leave the school 2 weeks into my 9th grade year. I had one friend who watched someone come up to me and say that i should go to bible study group so that they can "fix my problem" referring to the fact that I'm gay and then that friend brought me to that bible study group where they tried and failed to convert me. After this I only had two or three friends out of the whole school who didn't betray me the rest of my time there There were many other worse things that happened at this school that I will get into during therapy but not a yelp review I HIGHLY suggest that if your child is not a football playing asshole then DO NOT send them here ESPECIALLY if they are queer or different in anyway cause they will picked on until they can't take it anymore! Leaving this school was the best decision I've ever made for myself, my mental health, and all over well being as a person. The teachers I had were the only good part of this school and I will stand by that till I die. I highly suggest rethinking this school if its on your list to check out!

I have been working as an educational consultant at GSDA for 7 years. It's not only a job for me,…read moreit's like a second home. GSDA provides an alternative T-K through 12th grade educational setting, appealing to families from all walks of life. It's amazing to watch our homeschool parents learn and refine their homeschooling techniques, and I love being a part of that experience. Our high school independent study program is amazing - students don't slip through the cracks at GSDA because the high school team knows exactly how to address the educational and emotional needs of all types of kids. It is an "everyone knows everyone" type of atmosphere. The consultants go above and beyond to make sure that all students are successful, something that is really hard to find in a traditional high school setting. Working at a small school gives all of us the opportunity to get to know each student personally. I love being able to try different curricula, projects, and teaching techniques with my families. No two kids learn in the same way, and GSDA provides a supportive environment for all types of learners. It's a great place to work!

She became involved in the ASB, and she enjoyed this as well. We are very happy that we made this decision. A lot of parents don't know that there are choices out there, and that they can make a choice that might make a difference for their child's future.
