They offer homework assistance before school every morning in the library starting at 8 am. My son doesn't utilize it, but I'm sure if he needed to we would. He's been able to maintain an A average all year. His teachers are great. I love that they all embrace technology in the classroom, a marked improvement from elementary school. I especially love his speech and language therapist, she is just fantastic. She made the transition so smooth for him. I wish everyone had her excitement and passion for work. She is a great asset to this district. I know his life and time at Parkway Middle School is vastly improved for having her in it. Rather than focusing on past issues I have had with the district, I would just like to say that my experience with this school has been much more positive and I feel that my son has definitely experienced a better environment over here. I've also witnessed how they deal with behavior issues while on campus picking my son up for appointments. I was pleased with the approach; it was firm, fair and consistent.

We currently have three children at the school, and each of them has had such a positive and unique experience. It's clear that the school is focused on nurturing the whole child, building confidence, kindness, and a genuine love for learning. One of the highlights for our family has been the musical program. Our daughters have been involved in the school musical, and it has been such a meaningful experience for them. Even the inside of the middle school was a disappointment because there were no walls separating the different classrooms. Fast forward to present day, my daughter is in 8th grade and I am so sad she is now leaving MHA to go off to high school. Mrs Robertson is now the director at the middle school, there have been major staff changes, they even spent all summer redoing the entire inside of the school! There are walls, student lounge areas, amazing new staff, Mrs Robertson's office is right there so she can oversee everything, and there is even a counselor that comes once a week that will meet with any student or parent that might have any issues or concerns that they want to discuss, they have monthly meetings with the entire middle school about mental health as well. My daughter is thriving and loving school! We feel so confident and comfortable with her there. We love the new/returning staff, new programs, building updates, etc. I wish they had an MHA high school!! We have a younger daughter that will be at the middle school next year and we are so happy that she will be at MHA. She has some learning disabilities and the staff has been so accommodating to her. We really appreciate all the positive changes that MHA has made for this school year. Not only are the students more happy this year, you can tell the staff are excited to be there as well. I caught a tick on me one time so if you have a fear of bugs, don't go because there is stink bugs, fire ants, bullet ants, and a lot other bugs.

The consultants go above and beyond to make sure that all students are successful, something that is really hard to find in a traditional high school setting. Beside one or two teachers I was very disappointed in how some of them handled situations. I hardly had any communication with any of his teachers regardless how many times I reached out to find out assignments or any thing regarding my child's education! Also your child will not be able to attend any dances or have a chance at extra "special events" if they have an I in any class. I think it's absolutely ridiculous and separates the "good kids from the bad kids!" This is how my child felt! You do not treat children this way and exclude them from events with their friends. Middle school is hard enough. I will not name the teachers names but I've had to help my child with certain classes because the teacher refused to help let alone teach them! Some homework that was brought home was not discussed in class, and lots of assignments making my child feel overwhelmed. It was a constant fight every night because my child was mentally drained! I have read reviews about Dana and heard by a number of people who have attended there or had their child go there that this place is a mess! I also agree! I'm so glad to be almost done with this school! I can't count how many times my child came home upset from that school and because of its TEACHERS! Good luck if your child has to go here.
