It is an open space with all sorts of art supplies, tools, and just about anything your imagination can muster up. Lots of inspiration. I was hoping to make more than just one small block and have different supplies like fabric for printing. It was very therapeutic to carve my small block. The class felt a little scattered - but it was a very easy going environment, super relaxed. Our instructor was friendly and encouraged us to tap into originality without overthinking it instead of looking up patterns or inspo on our phone. I really liked that. And she offered us all coffee, freshly made. You can basically come in to do all the arts and craft your heart desires, on a donation basis. Affordable and unique way to release your artistic side without investing too much in all the supplies and then an abandoning a hobby. I'd come back with a friend and check out a different class.

They had construction paper, ribbons, highlighters, stamps, hot glue guns, and anything you might find at Michael's. Our instructor was very knowledgeable and showed us how she made her lanterns. She walked us step-by-step through the process. Now, I'm not a crafty person, but I was inspired enough by the ambiance and overflow of art supplies to get some creative juices flowing. At the end, I was able to create my own lanterns with some creative twists. I had a fun time and will recommend my crafty friends to check this place out!

I am in my second session of classes, and I have already seen so much growth and improvement due to the wonderful instructors (shoutout to Hallie!). But truly, ceramics requires so much patience and perseverance. It really pushes you to be okay with making mistakes (because they WILL happen, especially when you're first learning to throw on the wheel). But it's so fun to see tangible improvement come from your hard work! Plus, I love how community-oriented Broad Studios is! This studio is truly so special, and I would highly encourage anyone who is interested in ceramics to sign up for one of their classes!

It's very relaxing, I felt so calm while working on my piece. Time definitely goes by so fast when you're focused and creating. Just a heads up, they include different mold sizes with your reservation, but if you choose a bigger one than what's included, they do charge extra. Overall, I loved it. He said the gallery's name is a play off his name with an art emphasis. Rich shared that his gallery was the only African American art gallery in Austin, thus I was intrigued. Since we finished the Art contest judging sooner than anticipated, I popped by his art gallery also located in East Austin. RichesArt is mind blowing! The gallery feels like a full-on creative space. This is not your typical art gallery vibe with stark white walls where you cannot touch anything. This place is beaming with bright, bold colors that scream...this is art!!! The walls exude color, texture, life! There is a strong graffiti influence, mixed media, and pieces unapologetically authentic. The art gallery also serves as community hub. They host poetry slams, live jazz, a figure drawing class, art classes, and comedy shows. According to Rich, it's a creative playground for grown folks. While it was free to enter the art gallery, some of their events have an associated cost. The gallery environment is incredibly welcoming. A few folks were waiting to start a graffiti class. It appears folks come to RichesArt to connect and create. According to Rich, inclusivity is intentional and the gallery was built to reflect and celebrate culture.

The gallery showcases work from a truly diverse group of artists, each bringing a distinct and thoughtful approach to expression. There's a real sense of creativity and intention behind the curation. You don't feel like you're just walking through another generic art space. The owner is an exceptionally talented and kind young man, and that energy clearly sets the tone for the entire gallery. From the moment you walk in, you feel a warmth and openness that makes you want to slow down, look closely, and actually experience the art rather than rush through it. Beyond the main gallery space, there are outdoor installations that add another layer of interest, as well as a vintage boutique tucked away in the back that's well worth exploring. It feels like a place that's constantly evolving, with new details and updates that would make repeat visits rewarding. This is definitely the kind of spot I'd return to regularly just to see what's new. Unfortunately, I live in another state but for those of you in Texas, take full advantage of having a place like this nearby. It's absolutely worth the trip.
