I found this place thru Facebook or divine intervention I'm not sure which one since I can't really recall. I read their description and did not have high hopes. I mean, usu places like this sounds good on their website but when you get there, things are in disarray and the quality or selection not that great.
I had gathered up some things to donate, not really knowing what to expect and drove over (TIP: everything is volunteer based- they do not have regular hours (unfortunately) LIKE THEIR FACEBOOK PAGE OR INSTAGRAM where they will post hours when they will be open) and boy, oh boy was I BLOWN AWAY when I walked thru their doors!!!
It is finding hidden treasures like this place that gives me great pleasure in writing YELP reviews.
First of all, when you walk in, the front part of the resource center is set up like an art gallery with simply delightful pieces of art and sculptures made from recycled material. It was simply lovely! All items on display are on sale and 100% of the proceeds goes towards the resource center.
Thru the front gallery area, you walk into the rest of the resource center and I was:
1. Amazingly impressed by how organized everything was.
2. The sheer quantity and variety of the items to choose from from shelf after shelf of wonderful fabrics to high quality paper to books/ paintings for art masterpiece to crayons, pencils, egg cartons, empty milk bottles, beads, sparkly things- you name it, you will find it!!!
The resource center occupies 3,000 square feet of space and it was filled with items small and big!
On the right rear side of the resource center was filled with bigger items like wood, big foam pieces. It was amazing to see all that was in there . . .
NEATLY organized so it was easy to see and get to!!!
I felt JOYFUL to be there, not to mention meeting the delightful volunteers there who it was obvious this was her passion project. This place has been in existence for the last 14 years!!!
What a gift to us that this place exists for any non profit!!! It is FREE for the taking- as much or as little as you want. Any public schools, any Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, church groups, any organization with a 501(c) status is welcome with open arms!!!
I am putting the wish out to the universe that more people will find out more about this place. More volunteers will volunteer so this WONDERFUL resource center can be open with regular hours and those of us who donate will continue to donate so materials are kept from landfills and recycled to create more art and to benefit all!!!
THANK YOU to all the volunteers there now and remember to go and like their Facebook page and Instagram so you can go find out for yourself what a hidden treasure this is!!! read more
