Looking for a way to give back AND have fun at the same time?? Feed My Starving Children gives you that opportunity. They are an organization that strives to eliminate hunger globally. Volunteers gather to learn more about the organization and to pack nutritious bags of rice that is shipped to children around the world. The organization have safe and hygienic practices and instill these same standards in the volunteers. Be prepared to wear a hairnet, remove jewelry, wash those hands, and have fun with like minded individuals! It's great for the whole family or an opportunity to meet new people. There is also a shop on site to purchase merchandise to help support artists around the globe. And you can also select to make a monetary contribution if your time doesn't allow for volunteering.

We have been supporting FMSC for years! This organization helps provide meals to starving children all over the world. My family and friends love serving here. FMSC does not receive government funding and is entirely supported by donors. Although the organization is Christian-based, volunteers do not need to be Christian. There are tasks available for all ability levels. Since I fractured my foot, I've been able to do a seated task labeling bags and my kids are able to join me. Time flies by quickly here. I also love that they send follow-up emails showing where the food we packed was sent and whether it reached its destination! They even have a shop with handmade items from various countries that make great gifts and help provide even more meals to starving children.

We've volunteered here several times but I didn't post a review so it's about time I did so. It was so wonderful to volunteer and do something good with good friends while they were in town. They had not done anything like it so it was a nice to try something new and different for them. Wish we had thought about it much earlier so we could have brought more friends with us. Volunteering here truly inspired them to look for similar types of programs when they return home. Every encounter we have had with FMSC staff is aways positive because they are all so cheerful and encouraging! The entire process is very well organized so everything always flows so smoothly. The items in the artisan areas are so cute and it's great to know that my purchase supports the people that make the items and also helps offset the cost of the food we pack at our sessions. One thing I wish that could be changed is for the doors to be opened sooner. It isn't always an issue if you arrive just before your packing session. However, when the weather outside is extreme having to wait outside for so long is a deterrent for volunteering. Unfortunately, there is no bathroom in the waiting area or outside the entrance. Plus we don't have as much time to shop before our session starts.

Always a fun session no matter the group! The end result, it's volunteer packed meals specifically formulated for undernourished children.... Pray, Volunteer, Shop, Donate!!!

I do a lot of volunteer work and have served here at Feed My Starving Children on several occasions. They make it real easy to gather a group of people together for a couple of hours of service. They also make it fun by making it a little competitive and playing music while you work. FMSC's mission is to help prevent malnourishment for those at risk in the countries that they partner with. Volunteering is very simple. You can sign up for different time slots on their website. The minimum age for volunteering is 5 years old. Once you arrive and check in, you are shown a quick video of who and what FMSC does. You then put on your hairnet and spend the next two hours packing "Mannapacks" in their warehouse. These rice packs are an excellent source of protein, carbohydrates and key nutrients that are culturally acceptable worldwide for anyone over the age of one. Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit faith based organization and allows you an opportunity to pray over the crates of rice packs that are going out. Afterwards, the staff will let you know how many mannapacks were made and how many people they will feed. There is merchandise from different countries in the front that you can purchase. You also have an opportunity to donate to the organization if you want to contribute financially. Feed My Starving Children is a simple easy way to spend a couple hours of your day impacting those in need.

I really enjoy volunteering here. I think feeding hungry kids is a noble endeavor and I thank them for all of their efforts. They are a Christian charity and I am an atheist. We can work together to better the world. I try to volunteer here once a month and I always feel better after helping out. My one criticism is that a few times I've gone, the employees did a poor job of splitting up the groups which lead to having too many people at a station - 9 when a station can be manned with 7. The scoopers were on top of each other. This was at several stations and they could have opened another station to bag more food.

Wonderful place to volunteer. Registering is quick and easy. You get reminders via email the day before and the day of. You can easily update your volunteer date and time online. I had to do that at least once. You get greeted at the front and check in there with someone at the door. Then you check in again with someone at a table who gives you a group card number. After that you can check in via one of the computers against the wall. After that you sit on a bench and wait with others. There are lockers for you to store your purse or other items. They give a short presentation about the organization and how to do the volunteer jobs like sealing, weighing, and scooping. Then they ask everyone to wash their hands in advance of going to the packing stations. At the packing station you can pack the bags and call out the filled box number or you can be a bag sealer or you can be a weight checker or you can be a scooper. When you scoop you have to make sure the grains are level with the tops of the scoops and they can be leveled against the sides of the containers via compression. The bag sealer has to make sure grain is not caught in the seal otherwise it must be resealed. The weight checker must ensure that the bag weighs at least a certain amount or they must fill it with a little more grain and weigh it again before passing it along. The weight checker also holds the bag open under a little funnel to catch the food. There is a little stage for shorter people under the table to help them reach the grains to scoop into the bags. If you take photos or touch anything outside of the scoops or bags, then you must wash your hands. If the food falls anywhere on the table it can't be put into the bags. At the end you can do an optional prayer in another room or go ahead and wash your hands to sit back on the bench. They give another short presentation on hot many bags were packed and how much that would cost and how many kids would be fed. You can take a photo under the presentation slide with all these details on it.

My company had a team building event here today and I will definitely be back with my friends and family. I had such a good time, it's was high energy and extremely organized. If you are looking for a feel good moment this is definitely a place to volunteer your time. Thank you Feed My Starving Children for all that you do!

This place is located near the NE intersection of US-60 and Alma School. The entrance to the parking lot is a short distance North of W Holmes Ave. It is toward the East end of the parking lot. This is definitely a 5 star volunteer opportunity. Kids use it for service hours all the time. I am not sure if there is an age limit but they have some kids in there that look like they are about 5 or 6. The workers make it a very fun time and the time passes quickly. Things are very efficient so alot of meals are packed for kids (see photos) each session. There can be 3-4 people per packing table or up to 7-8 when things are busy. They also have Warehouse workers who walk around and move boxes and refill ingredients. You must be in high school to do the Warehouse. They also have labelers but we have never done that because it does seem boring to sit there and place labels. It does, however, give people who cannot stand or walk around for 1.5 hours an opportunity to help out. You sign up online. The process is simple but spots fill up quickly, especially Friday and Saturday so sometimes you have to plan pretty far in advance to get times. They also have a store with things made from different places where the food is sent. They do have some interesting things which can make for good and unique gifts.

If you want to give back to the world community by doing something besides or in addition to giving money, but have time limitations, this is the place for you. By donating just a few hours, we were able to assist in putting together meal packs for developing countries where food is literally saving starving children. Starts with a short presentation of what's required. No jewelry, not essential to have a food handlers card. Hair has to be pulled back & put up-hair nets are provided. Work hour times are in two hour blocks and it goes by incredibly fast. Make sure you call ahead to book your date and time. Let them know how many will be in your groo! When we were there, there was two charter buses of people and a group of school kids. We were able to produce enough volume to feed 115 children during our visit. The facility is very organized, clean, and friendly. I really like the concept of this place! I opted to do labeling because I can't stand for long periods without my back hurting. Every little thing done here makes a huge impact and you are reminded regularly of that. Bring a tissue, you can't watch the video at the end without shedding some tears. Tells individuals stories of how a meal/ food has impacted their lives. It's a Christian run organization, that accepts all faiths & their help, their welcoming & warm to everyone regardless. Great l, enthusiastic employees! Cute gift shop to browse after your charitable time. Donations from purchases also go towards these struggling countries. Samples of the rice are given at the end of the experience as well.

That's a good thing! I need to get back into reading. The employees here are so much more friendly, helpful and knowledgeable than the Chandler library. Master Accounting and Tax Service

If I could give zero stars, I would. Avoid this accountant at all costs…read more My family hired William Mease of Master Accounting and Tax Service to help with my elderly mother's taxes. She is in her 70s, has dementia, and needed a professional who could patiently and competently navigate the process. Instead, we encountered an accountant who was lazy, dismissive, and shockingly unprofessional. From the very beginning, Bill failed to read or absorb the information I provided, forcing me to repeat myself multiple times. Rather than listening or problem-solving, he fired back condescending emails filled with attitude. At one point, when pressed for guidance, his response was: "There is nothing further I can do for you. You will need to find a tax preparer that doesn't know what they are doing in order to get the return filed. Good luck!" That's right -- instead of doing his job, he essentially told my family to go hire someone "who doesn't know what they are doing" if we wanted the return completed. What kind of professional speaks to clients like this? This wasn't a one-off slip in tone -- it was a pattern of arrogance, laziness, and outright neglect. Bill showed zero compassion for my mother's condition, no willingness to problem-solve, and no respect for our time or circumstances. He seemed more interested in blaming us than actually providing solutions. An accountant's role is to help clients through complicated situations, not abandon them when things aren't simple. Bill made it clear that he doesn't have the patience, professionalism, or empathy to handle real-world clients with real-world challenges. Prospective clients: take this review as a warning. If you entrust your sensitive financial matters to William Mease, expect rudeness, blame-shifting, and zero accountability. There are plenty of capable, compassionate accountants in Arizona -- do not waste your time or money here. EDIT: I appreciate that Mr. Mease took the time to respond, but notice what he doesn't do: he never denies sending the unprofessional tirades I quoted above, including telling my family to "find a tax preparer that doesn't know what they are doing" and ending with "good luck!" That's because he did say them, in writing, and his response here conveniently sidesteps his own words and tone. Throughout this entire process, my messages to him were cordial and respectful, even as I had to repeat myself multiple times. His replies, on the other hand, were consistently dismissive, combative, and unhelpful. The problem wasn't that he insisted on accurate information -- any competent accountant should. The problem was his failure to communicate, failure to read the documents provided, and his repeated choice to lash out with condescending emails instead of guiding us toward solutions. Professionalism isn't just about refusing to "compromise integrity." It's also about having the patience, empathy, and communication skills to work with clients in difficult situations. Bill demonstrated none of these qualities. His responses showed the emotional intelligence of a toddler -- reactive, defensive, and incapable of constructive dialogue. So yes, I absolutely stand by my original review: if you're looking for a professional who will handle your financial matters with competence and respect, look elsewhere.

I had a nightmare of an experience with a different tax service that wouldn't answer my phone calls…read moreonce I dropped off my tax documents in March and waited until the last minute to file and fired me as a client the day of April 18th even though they promised to file an extension if it was needed...leaving me without my original documents and nothing done the day everything was due. Luckily I had made physical copies before dropping off my documents to that other service and I found these guys on Yelp. Evelyn was very friendly and booked me an appointment right away and offered their help to file an extension and prepare my taxes at a later date. Bill saw me in person hours later to explain everything and what to expect. When he saw how simple my filing was he offered to do it right then and there so it would all be resolved. Despite hitting a few roadblocks with getting all the information needed from me, he patiently helped me figure it all out and ended up getting it all filed. After a horrific experience elsewhere and this office's kind and quick service, I will be returning here in the future. Instead of being insulted and ignored, I was treated with kindness and respect even though I am not a big money account. Bill managed to do in an hour what my last Tax Service couldn't get done in a whole month. Thank you!!!!!

But honestly, Saint Joseph's Camp was AWESOME, and our kiddo had the time of their life! We were a little nervous at first (who isn't?), this was the first child in our family going away for the week to camp. Seeing our kid this happy and already begging to go back this year? We are sending her for two weeks this time. Seriously, from the second we pulled up, we just got a good vibe. There were enthusiast staff and teens welcoming her in and soothing her jitters. We totally felt like our kid was in good hands, which was a HUGE relief. Non-Stop Fun Stuff: We heard ALL about the lake, horses, the campfire tales, the epic games, and the cool crafts. They were never bored, that's for sure! So much to do! We got enough updates/photos to see online to keep our worries at bay while she was there. When she got home she was bouncing off the walls with excitement and seemed so much more independent. She tried new things, conquered little fears, and came back with a giant pile of amazing memories.

When he turned 15, he wanted to be a camp counselor and absolutely loved it. He continued to be a counselor for another year only to focus on summer working thereafter. As my daughters turned 8, they both started attending St Joes. I'm so glad I made the sacrifice. My daughters love camp, meeting new kids and building friendships over the past 10 years. My oldest daughter, now 18, was sad she couldn't be a counselor and because of travel couldn't apply to be staff. Next year, she plans on applying to be staff. My youngest daughter, now 16, was a counselor this summer and will be for one more year. All of my children grew up with St Joes. It is definitely a camp I would recommend to anyone and everyone! It's a sacrifice but worth so much more. My children love the camp, the activities, the friendships, the leadership skills and simply getting out of the Phoenix area heat to enjoy a bit cooler temp. Thank you St Joseph Youth Camp and thank you to all who have made this place a place my children have called their summer home and family for the past 14 years!

Phoenix Youth At Risk is a non profit mentoring organization founded in 1987 to help at-risk youth of the greater Phoenix area redirect their lives with the help of adult volunteer mentors. The goal is to help kids and teenagers recognize and expound upon their potential as outstanding citizens. They have two programs. The New Pathways Mentoring Program is a 9-month program consisting of one-on-one and group mentoring for teenagers who may otherwise fall through the cracks. The Positive Adult Leaders in Society (P.A.L.S) program matches youth ages 5-15 who are in homeless transitional housing with adult mentors for at least one year. Having never mentored in my life, the thought of helping a child was intriguing and scary all at the same time. I decided to jump on board with Phoenix Youth at Risk nearly 2 years ago and was immediately paired with a wonderfully gifted teenage girl. The P.A.L.S program asks that you be able to commit at least one hour a week to taking your youth out for at least one year. You could simply take them out to lunch, out bowling, to a museum, to your home, or the like. You become a positive influence in their life through just being you. It's an incredibly simple premise, yet one that can leave a lasting impression for years to come, for both mentor and mentee! Joining this organization was one of the best decisions I've ever made. There's no greater joy than helping a child see their full potential and I can say that the joy my youth gives me is the same, if not greater than the joy I give her. If you want to make a lasting impression in a child's life, please consider Phoenix Youth at Risk as a valuable life changing experience for both you and your youth! I felt that some of the questions were inappropriate and it made me feel uncomfortable answering them. I don't think that anyone should be asked about their sexual orientation or if they had experienced any abuse in their lives. I realize that this is a nonprofit organization working with at-risk youth, but I felt like this organization delved a little too deep into a potential volunteers personal history. I think their initial screening and some of their requirements limit the amount of volunteers that they get. Unfortunately, this effects the amount of mentors available for the children in the program. The interview felt more like a very intensive and revealing job interview more than a volunteer interview. In addition, I felt a bit judged by the interviewer when I answered some of the questions. I left the building thinking my time would probably be better spent someplace else.
