I took two pictures in for dry mounting and matting. There were two people working, and one was very quiet and not interested in helping me. I felt like I was bothering him when I asked questions about the different brands they offered, but the other guy working there was pleasant and helpful. They charged $250 for both pictures, and I left. When I picked them up, one picture was great, but the other picture had the mat on backwards. The beveled edge sloped the wrong way so that where the picture ends and the mat begins, there was a sharp point sticking out that you could slide your fingernail under. I didn't notice in the store but called them when I got home and the quiet employee answered the phone. He said that all large pictures are mounted that way because it was the only way the machine could cut a mat that size. He asked "Don't you like the 3D look?" since the picture looked like it was recessed further than usual. This was all a cover up for a sloppy job since the only issue was that the wrong side of the cut mat was glued to the picture and dry mount board. Instead of apologizing, he blamed me for not liking his work. I took it back the next day to have them fix it, and the helpful employee was at the desk. He apologized and said they would fix it free of charge. When I picked it up a week later, the mat's orientation was correct, but it had ragged edges around the opening of the picture, and it was not adhered to the foam board. I posted pictures of the mat and backing separation, and ragged edges examples. I will definitely not be returning to this store. I've learned my lesson. read more

I had a very pleasant experience with this business. The work Jan did framing the painting we brought in was absolutely excellent. He helped me choose a frame style that really complemented the art work and was very professional in working up a price quote. The quality of the work was also top notch. Framing is one of those things that I always think is going to be cheap and ends up being expensive. I had a painting framed here about two years ago and they did a great job. The staff was very friendly and professional. I was quite satisfied with my final product. Recently I purchased the same group as mentioned below. My photo I had to frame was quite a bit larger than my previous framing. The groupon was worth $200 for $50 so all in all not too bad. I decided to do the upgraded frame so that added $100. Though it was an added price I am glad I did because the end result was great. Very friendly staff and good time frame. read more

My wife and I use this shop exclusively for all if our custom framing needs! The owner and his brother are great and paid close attention to the smallest detail. They helped us pick out the frames and their product is absolutely perfect. We came here from with a Groupon and we got custom mats for the prints as well. Like many of the previous reviewers, I ended up here because of the $200 Groupon, which I had received as a birthday gift. Unlike the previous reviewers, who it seems were put off by the pricing and never got anything framed here, I went ahead and got 5 small paintings framed. While the prices were a bit higher than I was expecting, they worked with me, and after a little negotiating they gave me a couple additional discounts to make the purchase feasible. The service and quality of work done were both excellent, and they even held on to the paintings for 3 months after they were ready (I'd moved out of town and wasn't able to pick them up). When I finally picked them up, they were in perfect condition, and I was given additional packaging to keep them dry from the rain without having to ask for it. It's also worth mentioning that before I looked at any frames or even mentioned that I had 5 paintings in the car that needed framing, I walked in with an already-framed painting that wasn't hang-able due to a broken wire and a canvas that was separating from the (70 year old) frame. They reattached the painting to the frame and attached a new wire, and when I asked how much I owed them for it, they said nothing. I was very impressed. If I ever move back to the area and need to have more framing (or frame maintenance) done, I'd certainly return here. read more

On March 17, I took a Groupon into this frame shop to get a magazine cover framed. I told him I had the Groupon up front -- I paid $50 for $200 worth of framing. I brought in a similar framed cover that Michaels framed in 2008 so he could compare. He didn't have that frame but had a more plain one... then gave me a quote of $389. I told him no way, that I had paid just over $100 at Michaels in 2008 (with a 60% off coupon) which would bring that original cost to around $240. I had also brought in something else in case the cover didn't work out, and he said he could do that for what the Groupon covered -- that it would cost around $200. I had to pay $10 for tax. So, overall, I paid $60 to get something else framed with a plain plastic frame and one mat. Fine. The next day, I took the cover to Michaels who was having a 50% off special. I also brought in the 2008 framed cover for reference. For the new cover to be framed the same way (with museum-quality glass), I was quoted a price of $140 (so $280 before the coupon). This is $109 less than the frame store for a better product (because they had the better frame in stock). Though the people who work here were nice (though he kept telling me what a great deal he was giving me), I will not return. Either their prices are just really high to begin with, or perhaps the price was inflated because I had a Groupon. read more

I would give no stars if allowed. My experience was similar to the previous reviewer. I had a LivingSocial deal and felt the guy (probably the owner) increased his estimate knowing that I had a coupon. I got a very simple/standard frame for a picture no bigger than 12x18 with a single mat, and it cost over $200 -- ironically, the coupon was for $200. Maybe this was their normal pricing and they are just really expensive. Hard to know, but either way the experience left me with very little trust or reason to return. read more

I don't know what the negative reviews are for. We brought in our canvas painting (original from Tanzania) to be stretched and framed. John was so helpful and accommodating. I would give no stars if it were an option. I had 6 animation cels I wanted to get framed and shopped around...nothing fancy the guy at this shop wanted $250 per frame and that's with the cheap square black frame...I've gotten enough stuff framed to know that's the cheapest stuff they make. If the guy didn't want the business he should have said so, don't insult me by throwing out a ridiculous price. I checked a place in Manassas (Art & Frame Gallery) and they wanted $130...then she came down to $108 per...I finally settled on the framing shop in Fair Oaks Mall....$75 per! read more

I have now had three pieces framed at this shop, and they did a beautiful job. In each instance, I used an Amazon Local promotion that made the price very affordable. The tech took his time and suggested several different frame options, and the finished product was outstanding. I found this shop to be accommodating, and the quality of the work was great. I highly recommend Art Plus. We just had two odd pieces of art framed and they did a great job. You can get it done at Michael's, sure, but their workers barely know what they're doing. I've used these guys before, so I know that they're on the pricier side. This time we had a Living Social coupon, but I didn't tell him we had it until after we got the estimate. So, no, they don't jack up their prices, Art Plus is simply a pricey, professional frame shop that produces excellent results. We'll definitely be back again. read more

I had the opposite experience from the other reviewer. I felt like I had been taken for a ride by Michael's (who quoted me almost $1000 to frame 4 pieces before their 50% discount). Bought a $50 for $200 Groupon Now! deal and took 3 pieces to Art Plus Frame. The gentleman was very helpful in helping me to choose my frames and mats. With the deal I paid $315, which included the $50 I paid for the Groupon. I thought that was a fair deal. The items were ready on the date I requested, and I found to my surprise that they had placed museum glass on one, which they said looked original, and it was. it is one of my husbands original pieces and he was very glad they treated it well. the framing job was very well done too. With framing, you get what you pay for, and I highly recommend the guys at Art Plus Frame. I had a Groupon so things were a bit cheaper, but my items were two textiles, one of which I wanted stretched. The stretched textile was very big and very difficult--one of the guys told me they had to stretch it three times so that it looked optimal. I had the other textile framed and we had a good discussion about matting and frames, something that highlighted their expertise while being sensitive to what I wanted. It's pretty obvious that they take great pride in their work. The fifth star is for going the extra mile--after that stretched textile was done it was huge, and when i told them I didn't have a big enough car they went out of their way to deliver it to me--no charge. All the time they were very professional and helpful. It's not cheap, but if you are looking for high quality, this is the place to go. read more

Very professional. I knew what I wanted to a certain degree but they were able to immediately make great suggestions for matches, I was really impressed with their attention to detail. My copper relief picture looked better than it ever has. I was greeted and attended to when I walked into the store, though there was another person getting help, a second person came immediately out from the back of the store. I was in and out within ten minutes. I had previously taking my pictures to Michael's but the staff there was not nearly as knowledgeable. read more

I have the same complaint as those before me. The owner charged me $269 to frame a diploma when I had a $200 groupon coupon and had paid $49 for it. I was astounded by the price but paid it anyways, like a sucker. Really everything cost me $115 with taxes, ludicrous. Should've checked yelp first. This shop has done quite a bit of framing for us in the past and we have always been happy with the results. Most recently we had a piece damaged by water (not a piece they had framed) and the owner took it apart and made some minor repairs to it. When we went to pick it up they said they was no charge as they were happy to do it for a past customer. Good customer service and always friendly. We'll keep going back. read more
