This museum is AMAZING! Clean, quiet, open 364 days a year and IT'S FREE! If you are passionate…read moreabout history and like guns you will absolutely love this museum. I went on a Saturday but learned that during the week there is an extremely knowledgeable curator. I highly recommend this museum. Also they have a range at the museum so definitely don't forget to check that out as well.

The firearm collection is very extensive and goes beyond my highest expectations. We were immediately greeted at the front desk by Zack. He was very informative about the museum. 98% of the museum is made up of donations. About 8,000 firearms donated are in storage. Bill, one of the staff, was very helpful and talked about James Joseph "Whitey" Bulger Jr.. I was impressed at the arrangement of the firearms and how they were organized in a meaningful way. It would take many hours to go through and read all the exhibits. We spent about two hours there. I was very impressed with the exhibit of weapons used in Hollywood movies. I adored the exhibit with taxidermy animals especially the bear. The Buffalo Bill and George Washington exhibit were very eye catching as well. The most spectacular moment in the museum was hearing about and see an exhibit piece owned by one of America's most notorious criminals, Charles Manson. The museum curator, Ernie, gave me vivid details of how the gun was confiscated by the police. Admission to the museum is free and one of Fairfax's finest and unique local attractions. Strongly recommend this museum.

The Fairfax Fair is a Northern Virginia social institution!…read more Most people's first initiation into this yearly carnival is sometime around high school when they hold hands with a certain special someone on the ferris wheel or if they took the group date route, had worn matching tee shirts emblazoned with their crew's name in neon grafitti writing. Either way, the Fairfax Fair is the start of many, many blissful summer memories. A few of mine include: 1) The time I volunteered for a major sponsor of the event to dress up as the Cow from Cartoon Network's "Cow & Chicken". All of these little kids tried to pull my udders and punch me in the eye (which was conveniently located through Cow's open mouth). 2) The time my best friend performed on the Budweiser stage with her hs sign language choir. It was like an awkward scene out of Napoleon Dynamite that I will cherish in my heart forever. Whatever your age, gender, race, or socio-economic class the Fairfax Fair has something for everyone. Meat on a stick? Check. Laser light shows and fireworks? Check. Carnival rides? Check. Crazy circus carneys? Double check. Burnt out music artists from the 80's? QUADRUPLE CHECK!!! Musical guests have included eighties wonder kids Rick Springfield, Pat Benatar, Rob Base, Flava Flav, and more! I am secretly hoping that the Backstreet Boys will be hitting the county fair circuit soon so I can take care of some unfulfilled high school dreams. So anyways, what are you waiting for? The Fairfax Fair is coming to town this Friday, Saturday and Sunday!! Buy your tickets now -- the Fairfax Fair is your chance to do the Hump with Digital Underground himself. Since my last review, I ended up purchasing a family membership to the Children's Science Center…read moreand it is the BEST purchasing decision I have made all year. It's close proximity means that I have a go-to spot to bring the kids on school breaks, rainy days, cold days, or whenever we simply have nothing to do. While there are a few standing exhibits, the staff does a really good job at changing things up (and keeping things topical) so each visit feels special. And the best part... SLIME. We've made slime conductors, spider slime, fluffy slime, snowflake slime, glow-in-the-dark slime .. basically alll the slime. The experiment lab always has a slime option and it is a highlight of every visit. My eldest daughter went from barely reading and needing help at the beginning of our membership to fully reading and creating experiments on her own. It is so much fun to see. For the littles, there is a small playroom with building blocks, magnatiles, books, and those large blue fort/construction material building materials. My two-year old loved spending time in this room but now that she is three she likes making her own hovercrafts and setting them sail in the wind tunnel. The staff is SO kind, SO helpful, and so passionate about what they do. I love how they offer volunteer/internship opportunities to teens and will also set up special traveling science labs to Title I schools. If you are a member you also get discounted or free visits to children's science museums all across the United States which has made this membership 100% worth it for our family. If you are looking for an experience gift to give a little one this year, I highly recommend the Children's Science Center!

I was worried there wouldn't be enough activity for her age but she had a blast playing with exhibits and blocks in the interactive room. She also made "play dough" as an experiment. I felt like I was bothering him when I asked questions about the different brands they offered, but the other guy working there was pleasant and helpful. They charged $250 for both pictures, and I left. When I picked them up, one picture was great, but the other picture had the mat on backwards. The beveled edge sloped the wrong way so that where the picture ends and the mat begins, there was a sharp point sticking out that you could slide your fingernail under. I didn't notice in the store but called them when I got home and the quiet employee answered the phone. He said that all large pictures are mounted that way because it was the only way the machine could cut a mat that size. He asked "Don't you like the 3D look?" since the picture looked like it was recessed further than usual. This was all a cover up for a sloppy job since the only issue was that the wrong side of the cut mat was glued to the picture and dry mount board. Instead of apologizing, he blamed me for not liking his work. I took it back the next day to have them fix it, and the helpful employee was at the desk. He apologized and said they would fix it free of charge. When I picked it up a week later, the mat's orientation was correct, but it had ragged edges around the opening of the picture, and it was not adhered to the foam board. I posted pictures of the mat and backing separation, and ragged edges examples. I will definitely not be returning to this store. I've learned my lesson.

He helped me choose a frame style that really complemented the art work and was very professional in working up a price quote. The quality of the work was also top notch. Framing is one of those things that I always think is going to be cheap and ends up being expensive. This was not a cheap visit, so my only reason for not giving 5 stars is because I dislike how expensive framing is in general...

Do not like their attitude. Don't like the salesperson…read more BEWARE -LOOK AT THEIR STOCK PRICES! DO YOUR RESEARCH. I went with my brother, his wife and their two kids look at the KHovnanian homes. They look nice on the outside, but when I Googled: "KHovnanian homes problems" or "KHovnanian reviews" I saw too much bad stuff. In our personal opinion, their homes are priced higher than their competition-other builders building in the same neighborhood, and their former sales rep told me their finished homes had a problem appraising at the contract price before settlement.- Now what would happen to you if they won't lower the price after it doesn't appraise? -Your bank will only lend up to the appraisal amount (or under) and if KHov doesn't lower the price to the appraisal price, the the only two options you have is to walk away (legally because it didn't appraise) or to cough up the additional money yourself between the appraisal price and the selling price. (Could be $10K -30K+) I don't know too many people who have that much money stashed away for emergency use if their new home doesn't appraise. THEN... what happens after your old home is under contract and sold and you must move w/no new house to go to? Not good! We also don't like the way they keep jockeying around the pricing of their homes. We have been looking at their pricing for over a year. Most builders if they have a home ready will lower prices and add incentives like $10,000+ to use (apply) through their preferred lender to sell the home. But not KHov - They first offer a home at a price and offer a $10K incentive, then months later, they take the incentive away -effectively charging $10K MORE for the same house. Then they think the public is stupid -they raise the price of the house by $10K and offer the $10K financing incentive. Who do they think they're fooling? My brother said he will NOT choose KHovnanian. There are so many other choices. I agree.

Title: Major Drywall Tape & Seam Failures Throughout $1M+ Home. My home was built during the COVID…read morepandemic period, and the contractors and subcontractors used by K. Hovnanian appeared to change constantly throughout the build. There was little consistency in who was doing the work from one week to the next. This lack of continuity clearly resulted in inconsistent workmanship, which is something that is unacceptable for homes priced above $1M. During the first-year warranty period, K. Hovnanian sent a contractor to repair nail pops and drywall seams. Unfortunately, the repairs did not last. Nearly four years later, I am now experiencing widespread drywall seam cracking across both the main level and upstairs level of the home. Many of the seams that were "repaired" during the first-year warranty have failed again in the exact same locations, along with numerous additional cracks that have appeared along long ceiling runs, wall seams, and interior corners. In several areas, the drywall tape itself is visibly separating from the wall or ceiling surface. The photos included with this review show multiple examples of the problem. This is not a minor cosmetic issue, but rather it is a widespread finish failure affecting numerous rooms throughout my home. For context, I have built and lived in several brand-new homes over the years and have NEVER experienced anything close to this level of drywall cracking or tape failure, especially so early in the life of the home. The home has been continuously occupied since completion in 2022, with proper heating, cooling, and ventilation, and it has been well maintained. Aside from these drywall issues, the home is kept in excellent condition and presents like a model home. However, the failing drywall seams are highly visible and extremely frustrating in what was marketed and priced as a premium-quality home. Problems like this strongly suggest poor drywall installation and finishing during construction. I am sharing this review so prospective buyers understand the quality issues I have experienced and so the builder has the opportunity to publicly address the situation. At this price point, homeowners should reasonably expect professional workmanship and durable finishes--not widespread drywall failures within the first few years of ownership. I absolutely welcome a response from K. Hovnanian explaining how they intend to properly resolve these issues. Thank you.
