A fun, active, and very local bar in the Riverwest neighborhood. As the name suggestions, there is quite a bit of art on display for purchase and just about. Last time I visited there was a displayed of 'tiny' art. Small art pieces covered all the walls of the upper floor where the actual bar is located. There is plenty of seating and tables on the ground level of Art Bar. The space itself is connected to a restaurant called Wonderland, which you can easily access. You also have the option of getting a frozen pizza heated up for you behind the bar. Very dog friendly! I always see at least one dog nearby. A fantastic BOGO happy hour, which extends from 3pm - midnight on Tuesdays. Amazing! read more

I had some really delicious sour beers and wandered around to see the beautiful local artwork on the wall. It was inspiring and really fun to see so many special and miniature works of art. No more Happy Hour... I loved coming her a few years ago. Loved the summer Mojitos. No longer available and now no more 2 for ones. But, I do love the Pizza and I can get that next door. Do Not like dining with dogs. I have encountered dog owners who openly say, their dog doesn't like people. I have seen dogs peeing on poles near the bar. Then, not able to sit at the bar, because a dog is sitting in front of where the Pizza is cooked. I thought there is a city ordinance? Well, I am an adult and want to interact with adult humans and not dogs. But if that is your boat, then keep on floatin! Just my opinion. read more

This space is very cool. The decor is, as you might guess, arty and fun. Both the featured art on the walls and the bar finishes are interesting. The place is also much bigger than it looks like, with multiple seating areas. I tried a dark cherry mojito, made with fresh fruit. It was refreshing without being cloyingly sweet. My friend had the watermelon mojito and also enjoyed it. I'll definitely be back to try more drinks. read more

I have been going to Art*Bar for the past couple years now, and I always love it so much. It has such a funky vibe and they always deliver. I love going during their happy hour because it's buy one get one for any drinks. Such a great deal that you can't beat! This bar is also dog friendly which is a super big plus! Love this place so I have came here a few times now and it's always so humbling and chill. Drinks are reasonable and they ever serve bottles of wine and bubbly at great prices. Games days are a blast came in to watch the packers play off and everyone was accommodating and service was quick. They have a restaurant located next door but can get to it by walking through the bar. Pool tables, chill music and the crowd is always friendly. Pet friendly and little fun things to do like coloring pages and magazines to scroll through. read more

My friend and I finally found a time to catch up, and she suggested this place. I had never heard of it, but I'm always game to try new places. Little did I know I'd be falling in love that night. (Not with my friend. With the bar. Just to clarify!) Art Bar is that hole-in-the-wall bar that one can only dream of. All its artwork is for sale, and I found an amazing piece for $20 that is proudly hanging in my kitchen. It's dog-friendly. It has great drink deals. There's pool. Art Bar is a fun little neighborhood bar located in the ever artsy Riverwest neighborhood. Came here on a weekday evening to enjoy a happy hour with friends. Their happy hour offers bogo beers and cocktails and goes all the way to 7pm (nice!). They have a pretty fun and diverse beer menu and I was happy to find that they had Hinterland's Luna Stout on their bottle menu. Beyond the beer and drinks, is the entire vibe of the place, which is amazing. Their space is adorned with art from local artists (for sale!), so there's plenty to look at as you sit and enjoy your beverage. Beyond the art is the creatively funky decor. Posts covered in bottle caps and wine cork chair rails are just a couple of the creative flourishes I noticed while I was there. I think this is the sort of spot where you'll find yourself noticing some new fun detail every time you go. Oh...and did I mention the dogs? How did I get this far into the review without mentioning the dogs!?!? Art Bar, I'm happy to report, is entirely dog friendly. I brought my girl, Scout, and she was happily at home with Helga, Ralph, and Tim the pug (to name but a few). Such a fun atmosphere. How have I not reviewed this place yet?! For over 14 years, this is, and always has been, one of my all time favorite, go-to spots in the entire city! Here's why: Art Bar offers that super chill vibe (you know, the kind of place where you can get lost in conversation) offering card/board games, performances and special events, pool, darts, and my favorite, pinball. Pair these offerings with a wide range of drink options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic like tea, coffee, soda, etc), my love of and appreciation for art, and an "anything goes, everyone's welcome" atmosphere (dogs included) and, seriously, what more could you ask for? The art continues to rotate several times throughout the year so it's never stagnant; hands on DIY art activities and contests often take place; an awesome happy hour special every day; and so much more. So Art Bar is so so many things wrapped up in a singular establishment. You want coffee in the morning? Art Bar haz, even fancy lattes. Great, fun, rotating art on the walls? Live painting? Art Bar haz. Pool, darts, trivia games, board games? Haz that too. Cocktails? Specialty drinks? A good beer selection? Mystery beers? You guessed it. Two levels? HAZ. I think they even have frozen pizza... I like Art Bar. I like Art Bar a lot, and I should go to there more often. Two gripes: -Lights aren't low enough (no one wants to sit in a really bright bar), and... -Sometimes the music is really bad. (Subjective take, however, I hate techno and stuff.) It's always a little too loud (they have a lot of live music which is great, but some of it isn't that good and it feels too loud for the space ) or too bright to totally settle in, and there is a lot going on visually, almost overstimulating. But I make a stop there every few months and always think of it when looking for a laid back place to meet with a friend for a drink, or a game of trivial pursuit, the 1989 edition. read more

You can't go wrong with Art bar. They have drinks to fit any mood and a chill atmosphere with open space and games to fill the night. I love their support of local artists, changing the art on the walls constantly to support new people. Theres always something new to look at when you're there. I also love how they have things like coffee, tea, lattes, hot chocolate, hot cider etc if you're not in the mood to drink. Or if you want a drink and not sure what to get you can order a mystery beer, delivered in a paper bag of surprising goodness. The pool table is free to play, and darts and pinball cost quarters. plus tons of board games and trivia games to entertain. Overall a great experience on any night of the week, plus 2-4-1 tuesdays! Perfect black for a nightcap after black husky (which closes at 9). Brought the doggies out for a night and this was one of the dog friendly places we stopped. They have a great menu of mixed drinks, and the bartender was so sweet! Also the patrons here were just chill and friendly. Pup got all the pets :) I got a cosmo margarita which was ahhmazing (also supersize for $12...thought it was a good deal). Inside was very hot and loud so we did end up going outside to brave the 40's. We will be back! read more
