I've been going to Arsova Salon since June 2016 and I wish I would have discovered Anita (owner) sooner. I cannot say enough great things about this salon! Anita is truly a miracle worker!!! I was previously going to another well-known salon in the area for about a year, and I wasn't happy with my color. I am by no means an expert in this area but I just knew something was wrong. My hair had no dimension, it seemed like she was doing highlights over highlights, and the worst part was that my hair was starting to look unhealthy and break off. That had never happened to me before in the 25+ years I had been getting highlights. I had tried to talk to her about it, but she seemed not to understand and/or care about my concerns. So when their salon was moving locations, I knew it was the perfect time for me to find a new stylist. After reading all the great reviews on Yelp for Arsova Salon, I decided to see if they could help me. I am so lucky I discovered this salon. At my first appointment, Anita confirmed my fears about my hair being pretty damaged so I knew I wasn't crazy. She took the extra time to explain what was wrong and, most importantly, what she could do to fix it. She also explained that this was something she couldn't fix in one visit. After several visits I am happy to say that my hair has not looked this healthy in a very long time. I absolutely love the color. You can really tell the difference when you go to someone who is truly an expert in his or her field. I get so many compliments now on my hair and I cannot thank Anita enough for what she has done for me. What I think I like best about this salon is that Anita really spends quality time with all her customers and she is the utmost professional. She really cares about providing the best possible service. She only employs top quality stylists and everyone is super friendly and very welcoming. After being on the hunt for a "really good" stylist for years, my search is finally complete! Having been a loyal client of Anita Arsova's for almost five years, I have found my "forever" salon and I couldn't be more pleased! My hair looks and feels the best it ever has! She does an awesome job and is truly an artist; I could not even begin to think of anyone else taking her place! Anita has always been extremely professional, super friendly and accommodating since my first visit. On two different occasions, I had to get in last minute for a color and cut; even though Anita was out of town, she had two other stylists fill in for my appts. Both Jen and Amanda were awesome and did my hair exactly the way Anita does it! It is so nice to have finally found a salon where everyone is truly part of a team! Anita and her staff are ALL highly talented and the most friendly and knowledgeable group of creatives working together that I've experienced. Oh boy, I really wanted to like this salon. They did hair and makeup for my wedding and it looked beautiful. Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing about their balayage. I paid about $300 for a haircut and balayage , but both times ( in early July of this year and last September) turned out pretty freaking horrible. Now I have a brassy hair problem, thanks Anita! I know my hair was fairly dark when I came in, but my hair stylist should have warned me that my hair color will be orange, nowhere near the blond hues that I requested. Had she been clear with that my hair will turn out orange I would have never agreed to this. I am not sure why I waited this long to leave a review, mostly because I felt bad, but I am disgusted with my hair and will most likely need to go to another salon to do some damage control. Also, the haircut I got was uneven in the front. I am very disappointed and embarrassed with how my hair looks, you've been warned! Update: I just went to get a consultation from another salon and as suspected what I actually got were highlights (brassy highlights) and not balayage. I was told that you should never use foils on balayage. Now I will be forced to spend another $250 to correct this terrible hair color. read more

The absolute best! I went through years of doing box dye myself after more than a few horrible salon experiences at other places in my past. Admittedly, I'm not a stylist and don't know what I'm doing, so after a few rounds of this my hair was red, blonde where my roots came through, and dark brown on the ends. Location and ambiance of the salon is good. When I arrived I had to wait 20 minutes past my scheduled appointment time to be seen. I had made the appointment for a partial balayage. The colorist asked what I was looking for and I said I wanted it to be brightened up. She said ok- agree I got it and ended up giving me a partial highlight. Due to the damage from the color- I needed to go somewhere the next week to get a trim and she had to take significant length off. I was lucky enough to find Keith when I moved to Chicago 2 years ago and he's been consistently phenomenal. For a blonde with a long bob his attention to deal and ability to give me natural looking, sun kissed blond lifts is incomparable. Additionally, my highlights continue to look fantastic even as they grow out (which I've never seen before). I personally have stuck to my look but have seen his talents applied to other highlights/balayage/looks on his Instagram @keithallenhair as well. Disclaimer: This is the only negative review I have ever left in my life, which is sad for both me and you Arsova Salon. Truly. Ok so this is one the funniest yet most awkward/cringeworthy interactions I have ever had in my life. So how can I not leave a review, right? GIRL, so I had a consultation with Beth today for hair extensions since the front desk lady referred me to her as the "extension specialist". I came in, sat down and asked the most standard questions about hair extensions. I'm not kidding when I say it was like pulling TEETH to get any information from Beth about the difference of hair extensions. Literally the most passive, rude girl I have ever encountered. We are women we are sisters, like why? I asked her if she does hair extensions often because it seemed like she had 0 knowledge of the subject (because she had such remorse when I would ask her the simplest of questions). So Beth tell me.. if you are an "extension specialist" and you do extensions regularly why couldn't you find the hair extension swatches? HOW do you do hair extensions on a regular basis yet misplace the hair swatches? how at this point I knew I should have made a run for it.. But no, I stuck around. btw she was extremely prideful that the extensions she uses are from LA yet refused to tell me the name of the company? and hit me with "what? do you know of every extension company that there is?" YOO WHO HURT YOU???? At this point I am so baffled I expect Ashton Kutcher to jump out because I truly felt like this was an episode of punk'd. Anyways I ask her why she thinks tape ins are the best option for me even though I insisted on going with the more expensive option and she responds "I just think they would be better" I ask well why would they be better? she responds "I just think they would be better" me: "ok" her: "ok" me: "alright then" her: "alright then" me: ..... her: ...... crickets: *cricket* Oh Beth. Why? We could have been friends, I was offering to go with the more expensive hair extension. You could have made a loyal client, I live down the street!!This is not the way you treat clients who are the reason you even have a job. I don't understand why Beth had 0 desire to work with me and 0 desire to explain the difference in hair extensions as an "extension specialist" I told Beth that I was just going to leave and with no emotion she responded "ok" And I'm sorry for the rest of the salon, I'm sure the salon doesn't deserve a one rating. I've let some time past on writing this review because I really hate writing bad ones... but I saw they were on Gilt again which is where I original got my voucher for them for balayage. So this is just a heads up. I only went for balayage so cannot speak for any other services. I went with the idea of having a "sun kissed" looked asking her not to do much because I wanted to incorporate my roots (I'm naturally a dirty blonde with grown out highlights). Basically an ombre balayage with face framing so it will look natural. What I ended up with was my WHOLE head colored piece by piece - which turned into some pulling brassy because it didn't sit long enough! It's hard to describe but needless to say that same day I went to another salon for a correction that I could live with before I could get a real fix since my hair got fried! read more

The short: Always great cuts by Anita, the owner, at a salon with the best customer service and experience I've ever had at a salon or barbershop. I am a guy with a very difficult coarse hair-- Do yourself a favor and give this place a shot if you're a guy. I'm so glad I did. Everyone on staff is extremely courteous, professional, friendly, and I always feel well looked after. When I went somewhere else first after recently moving to a different area in Chicago, a girlfriend asked me to turn around to inspect the cut, then gave me an "ehh, it's good" (with raised voice to indicate she's hiding something). Anita (the owner) gave me a very professional and thoughtful consultation about my coloring since it was my first time, and Kevin did my haircut and blowout. Anita is super sweet, and amazing. She genuinely cares about her clients and seeing them happy about their hair, and takes her time to make sure everything is perfect. My coloring came out AMAZING, so natural looking on Asian hair (which can sometimes turn out orangey) but its a beautiful caramel and goes so nicely. Couldn't be happier ,and I can't believe I didn't try coloring earlier! If you are looking for coloring, MAKE SURE you request Anita. I'm sure she is wonderful at other services (makeup, hair cut) but omg the hair color professionalism and thought that went into it was amazing! Kevin is phenomenal. If you are looking for any sort of hair cut or blow out......ASK FOR KEVIN! I asked Kevin very vaguely for "lots of layers and really BIG hair" ... turns out he is a hair and blow out genius. Kevin will do magical things to your hair. I've had a lot of blowouts and haircuts at top notch salons in my life, and Kevin by far did the BEST one - not even a question. I'm scared to even touch my hair because I want it to stay like this forever! He is also hilarious and so fun to chat with, and even showed me a couple tricks how to best use a round brush / dryer to get that extra "oomph." I initially went to Arsova because it is 2 blocks from my work, I liked the website and I read great reviews about Anita. I left my first visit as a lifetime customer (ok, well for however long I live in Chicago). BONUS: the salon's customers get free bang trims! I came here for a haircut with Anita after someone in a previous salon damaged my hair and i desperately needed to cut it. I was scared going to another salon and trusting someone new but i am so glad i did. I have never received such a great cut before and i told her i wanted to keep the length but just get rid of all the damaged ends and make my hair fuller (I am asking for magic tricks, i know) But she did exactly that!! I think this place is over priced for what you receive and not all the girls if any have experience with curly hair. The color job was decent but the styling was just mediocre. I had lots of damage from the blow-dry job I received. I had my hair like a puff ball after wards. At which time I requested some flat iron be done and nothing was placed on my hair after for the frizz...‍ when I asked for something to help with the frizz she sprayed hairspray on the frizz. I have never written a yelp review before and I am now, that's how amazing these people are. I have gone to David and Noel a few times now for my cut and color and they never cease to amaze me with how talented they are at their jobs. I have never kept a stylist for more than one job and now I will never use another stylist or colorist again. First off, David can do anything and I mean anything. Two months ago I went in asking for a dark brown color, and being a natural dirty blonde, this is not an easy task to do if you want it to look natural and beautiful, yet David did it and it looked amazing. Today I went in, my mind bored of my current color and decided I wanted bombshell blonde hair and I left the salon looking better than I ever hair in my life. He gives perfect coverage and everything blends beautifully. He is always honest and tells you what he believes looks best and what won't destroy your hair in the process, and you should always trust him with his years of experience under his belt. I never know exactly what I'll get going in because he will go with a mix of what you want and what he thinks is best and it always comes out better than expected. Second, Noel is brilliant as well. He is the reason I heard of the salon, because I met him on a train over a year ago and he wanted to fix my hair. It took me a long time to finally go in to see him and when I did I couldn't believe it had taken me so long. He does an amazing cut and your hair feels healthier and looks better than ever. He will give you the look you want making it match your face perfectly. These two men are brilliant at their line of work and are two of the sweetest men I've has the pleasure of knowing. When you go in they are incredibly welcoming and they are such a joy to talk to. I have yet to go in and not leave with a smile on my face as a result of both the quality of their work as well as their wonderful personalities. I have been twice to this salon and I have to say I was really excited for my appointments but both times was disappointed. The first time I went the girl I had charged me way more than I was quoted on the phone and I do not think the salon itself does blondes well. The second time I asked for someone I thought could do blondes better but was again disappointed and over charged. I asked for what I usually get from salons in the past and she was really rude and telling me it was not a thing. I usually get a foliage with money pieces. She continued to tell me she wanted to do highlights which is not what I wanted and I finally gave up and let her do whatever because it was frustrating. Then after my haircut when my hair was not curled I noticed how uneven my face framing and haircut was. It was a nice luxury experience in the salon but my experience was disappointing but I know other people have had different experiences. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Megan H. I came into the salon in a panic, after another Chicago stylist (unrelated to Arsova), turned my beautiful virgin dark brown hair into a gross shade of greenish/silver. The coloring was all over and uneven, cool in some spots while warm in others, and it was hard-lined highlights instead of the balayage I asked for. After hearing good things about the salon from a friend, I went into Arsova for a color consultation. I explained to Megan that I wanted a coppery, caramel balayage but it would need some serious artistry to get my hair anywhere close to that. I was nervous that doing a second round of lifting in one week would damage my hair. She was able to fit me in the next day. Megan listened to all of my concerns and clearly articulated everything she was doing throughout the process to give me peace of mind. By the end of my appointment, I had a gorgeous balayage that looked lived in and rooted, and the ashy green blonde was nowhere to be found. She did a better job than the photos I showed her! Words do not describe how thrilled I am with my hair. As a bonus, the price was very reasonable, and she is super sweet and accommodating. Highly recommend Pascale, she does an AMAZING job, I always love my color, cut and how she styles my hair. I honestly feel like a new person every time I get my hair done by her. I recently decided to cut my hair short and was very nervous because last time I cut my hair short (at different salon) I hated it and told myself I would never cut my hair short again, but I gave it one more try because i knew how great Pascale is. To say the least, I LOVE my short hair and have received tons of complements. I will be keeping my hair short for awhile thats how much I love it. Pascale always seems to know exactly what I'm looking for and nails it every time. She takes the time to see what I want to do at every appointment and makes suggestions i.e. partial vs full bayalage etc. She has also helped save my hair after terrible breakage I previously had before going to her. I cannot thank her enough for always making my hair look amazing!! Overall salon is great atmosphere and have great products that they use and have available to buy.
