Furnace Installation, ARS was upfront with price, did quality work, saved me a lot of money and had excellent staff. In April 2024 I had my old furnace inspected due to a new noise it started making. Another company I called came out, told me my furnace was fine other than an inducer motor. After purchasing the inducer motor from that company and having them install it for $1600 they tell me my blower motor is shot and I need a new furnace. After me asking how any of this made sense, they told me not to worry they'd give me $1600 off the price of a new furnace. I asked how much that would be and couldn't believe the quote of $14000 for a 70000 btu furnace replacement. Not furnace and AC, just the furnace. Three other reputable quotes came in $5,000-$9,000 cheaper. I chose ARS not because they were the cheapest but because I feel they are the best value for cost, are upfront, and do quality work. Unfortunately it hasn't been cold so haven't had to run the furnace yet but the inspector seemed impressed and felt the job was well done. these guys are GREAT!!! needed emergency assistance when our bathroom flooded the upstairs and basement 3 weeks after we moved in. Searched for help and found ARS in Itasca. Nathan Y came out within an hour and started rodding the sewer and didn't stop until he opened up a horrible clog from previous owners. then he saw our distress and recommended CWF Restoration to clean up the mess. They have been Amazing! After opening the clog Nathan found the source of the plumbing problem and he and Clay came back to do repairs not only at our house but our neighbors who had been having horrible gas smells for some time and others could not figure it out. These people claims to be on the high end but they purchase from Hone Depot. I purchased an A/C unit in 2015 with a standard warranty. It went out this year 2023, but they didn't acknowledge my warranty. Instead they wanted $2,500 to fix my A/C after I paid $3,522. RIP OFF! RUN! Excuse given is contact our customer service. I recently requested a main sewer clean for $89.99. The first technician came out and tried to rod the line but broke the snake off in the line. They then sent a second technician out with a camera. He determined that I had roots growing through my pipes and recommended that it should be rodded out from the house. Well, a third technician came out and tried to rod out the line but was not successful. I was charged $935 and nothing was achieved except a broken rod inside my main sewer line which is still in there today. Also, customer service is horrible they were a waste of time. I should have done my research before calling them. I'm out $900 and have a broken rod in my main sewer line and I can't put the pipe back in it to stop the sewer water from running into my house from the street. read more

Had the salesman come out to quote a new central AC unit as the furnace was only a couple of years old. Original quote was $9500 but he told me they were running a special and the cost would be $7500. I told him not a chance. He asked what I would be willing to pay if we set it up right now? I told him $4000. He said he had to call his manager. AMAZINGLY the manager said it was fine. I got it for less than half the original estimate, I should have kicked him out right then. I was given the option to finance it through a Home Depot credit card for 12 months at 0% interest, so of course I accepted. I had the unit installed and everything went flawlessly. A couple of weeks later I received the Home Depot card in the mail and set up the account only to find out that the 0% is only for 6 months, not 12 as told by the salesman. I had ARS come out to the property to rotor my tub on January 19th and they were in and out in under 30 minutes walked the property. The recommendation was to do it from the bathroom sink and I was recommended to update my water heater. I did both - They did completed the job and left. It was 349.00 to Unclog the tub/ However, two weeks later we started having problems again on 2/11 another tech came out - His recommendation was to have the piping redone and that i needed a plumber out. I had to follow up with ARS to secure the appointment and I was scheduled for Friday 2/24 Friday 2/24 came and went and I was reschedule since they were in dated with calls. I was trying to be understanding and they scheduled me for Saturday 2/25 - Plumber came out and I did not need new pipes. I was scheduled for another team to come out on 2/27. They did credit me for the first job but had to pay an additional 250 for the second job which in total 599 which is a lot to unclog a Tub -then they sent out another tech that complained the entire job and decided to tell me that the sewer line needs to be replaced. Keep in mind they never checked the traps. End of story the clog was removed after 4 separate visit. read more

They came out to do a tune up on my furnace and when the technicians got there which may say he was supposed to be there between eight and 12 they called me at 12:30 to tell me that the technician is 45 minutes away. The technician came into my home and he was saying that something wasn't working so he told me the part would be $1800 and I probably need to get a whole new furnace, so I asked can you give me an estimate he said no let try to get an salesman comes out to your house he gets there and takes measurements and he said OK. I can give you a quote on a new furnace and new air condition. I said to him there's nothing wrong with my air conditioner and he told me well. Let me call my supervisor to see if if we can actually give you a just a quote with the furnace. He supposedly told me that he's not able to give me a quote for just the furnace alone and so I asked him to leave my home, but I had just had someone from the Home Depot technician to come out to my other home and they actually replace just the furnace long story short the part that he said cost $1800 was only $100 from the manufacturer and another part was $65 which now my heating is working fine they tried to oversell and rip me off don't do business with this company read more

CON ARTISTS - BEWARE! I set up an appointment through Home Depot for an annual furnace cleaning / tune-up. Someone from ARS showed up, he was kind of grumpy and disgruntled. He stuck a camera in my furnace for a second. Then pulled out his phone showed me a picture and said, "you have a cracked heat exchange, its unsafe to use, you need a new furnace." He gave me a long list of other things that apparently were also failing, which he clearly didn't really check. He said he'd give me a full report with a list of the issues. He then shut off the furnace and put a sticker on it that said it was hazardous to operate, and had his colleague come over to quote on a new furnace, which was over $6,000. I told him we had a home warranty, but they said, don't bother calling them, they won't do anything for you. They never sent the report, so I had to call and ask for it, and when it arrived, it was really vague and barely had any information. I called my home warranty company regardless, they sent over a new tech from a competitor to take a look. He did a pretty thorough investigation and showed me that there were no cracks, he tested for leaks (there were none), and said that this was a common scam. He verified that the furnace was in great condition. He felt bad that ARS scammed me, showed me that they didn't even remove certain things they should have as part of the investigation, so he went ahead and did the tune-up for me. ARS is the worst customer service experience in chicago. The gross incompetence is company wide. From the techs that did not know how to open the sewer main despite the fact we had the tool to open with. They tried to claim the company that did the install did it wrong. Rather than admit they were clueless. But here's where service is grossly negligent. I called and booked a few days before. I was given a window 8 am- 12 pm on Black Friday. I stayed home waiting. At almost 11 am no text, call or email update saying my appointment was changed. So I called. I was placed on hold. 10 minutes into hold my other line rings but I didn't hang up lest I lose my place in line. In the following 4 minutes they called 5 times while I was stuck on hold waiting for the customer service manager Chris to talk to the tech Daniel and find out when he planned to get to us. But instead they canceled my appointment and blamed me for not answering the phone while I was waiting on the damn manager to fix this. It took 4 more calls. I was changed to between 12-2. No one came. Then 4-7, and finally after I called an additional 2 times to ensure arrival, a dipshit shows up with no tools. Which would have been ok. Because we own the tool needed. But they we're too stupid to use it. I do not recommend this company unless you like being lied to, left on long holds, lied to more, blamed for their failure, then ultimately left unserviced. I give negative stars and Chris, customer service mgr has no authority whatsoever so don't bother. This is a company destined for bankruptcy. read more

What started off being a great experience, ended up awful. This company installed the furnace/AC and the installers were great at the time. They advised me after the install that they would let me know when the permit was filed so I could schedule an inspection after the install, there was 0 communication. After the inspector saw there was an open permit, he called me to schedule this. Inspector came and the job failed inspection. There was a new breaker that needed to be installed and as the inspector told me, instead of replacing, the company just turned it off. From his viewpoint, he said they knew that they were missing this piece. The company did not ever tell me anything about this during install. The company called me after the inspection and left a voicemail, I called back 20 min later and left a voicemail. I reached out to the salesperson that sold me the unit and he said that the company has reached out several times. I told him that this was absolutely false. I am appalled that a company would not install a component of a furnace that is over $10k, not communicate at all, then point blame at their customer. I got in touch with the company to have the breaker installed and scheduled the job for 12-4 today. I work from home so I scheduled my day around this, I get a call from the company this morning and they state they will be here at 9:30, causing me to have to reschedule a large portion of my work for the day. I would look elsewhere for any HVAC, furnace, or AC needs you may have because this company is not the headache you want to have to deal with. UPDATE: It appears that they want me to text them my full name and address so they can respond. frustrated do not call this company for any type of service, today tune up was scheduled to come between 2pm-6pm, I called at 6:07pm to ask when will they be out was told by dispatcher that someone noted in the system that they tried reaching out to reschedule and I never answered, I left work early to be home for this service, it's the 3 rd time since Monday with the run around. this is the company that put my unit in last year which I'm now regretting. the amounts of calls I get throughout the year to schedule for tune up when I finally set one up it's a no show. and no manager or supervisor to talk to either it's Friday night and I'm left having to look for another company to service my unit. I called at 8:55am to see when they might be arriving and was told the technician would call me shortly to let me know where I am on the list. No phone call, text message, or email from the technician or the company. They do not have any respect or consideration for their customers time. This is the 4th it's happened in the last 2 years. We made an appointment to have our furnace's serviced with ARS two weeks in advance on two separate occasions. The first appointment day we get a call saying they could not keep the appointment because they were short staffed. We agreed to reschedule. The night before we called them and confirmed the appointment and the time. the next day no show. we get a call from them saying that they were running late and can we move your appointment back two hours. reluctantly we agreed and yet they never showed and never called. No one reached out, so I called them and found out that they had my phone number wrong. They rescheduled me for Sunday, gave me a window from 8am - noon, no one showed up or called me. I had been a customer for over 10 years, which now means nothing to ARS. I had an appointment. My window was 10am - 2pm. At 1:30, I call to check the status of my appointment. I'm told that the tech assigned to me has 2-3 hours on another call, then a second call before he gets to me. So 5PM at the earliest. I had another appointment at 5pm and had to reschedule. Not in one day, not in two days, but in a week. If ARS cared about loyal customers, I'd be first the next day. They obviously don't. I've given them lots of business over the years. At anytime today, ARS couldn't have called me to let me know that there would be a long wait, or they would not even service me today. But nothing. There are many other HVAC choices. We've contacted three different companies for quotes to replace a new HVAC system. Carl from ARS has been very professional that means providing us great knowledge and references. On the day for the installation, there were 3 technicians came to ring my bell on time as expected. They analyzed and customized the installation for my case. Overall, it's done pretty good. However, something I still do not like too much. Honest is one thing I care since we customers are not a pro. Everything is built on the trust and all details are relied on the contractors. We hire a contractor is not only based on the price, but mostly based on the trust. It may be for all contractors that try to avoid further questions then provide wrong answers, which ARS is also one of them. 1. I have an Aprilaire humidifier 700. It was controlled by a control device Aprilaire 60 Humidistat (https://www.amazon.com/Aprilaire-60-Humidistat-Blower-Activation/dp/B0085YQUVQ) that was connected with a transformer from an electric box. They told me they hide the transformer in the furnace. However, it's not true. The humidifier now is controlled directly from ecobee and the Aprilaire 60 Humidistat was removed so the transformer was removed. 2. The Aprilaire 60 Humidistat and its transformer were taken away. One of the technicians told me would leave the device for me so in case I would ever need it I could use and I did really want it since I paid over $500 before for the humidifier installation. Now I don't have the device and they may be threw away . I've asked couple times for returning it but no answer still. (Service quality consideration for all) 3. Rewiring ecobee was not done as I expected. They wired ecobee with 1 stage furnace way. The stage 1 was set to auto to run 10 minutes then go to stage 2 on the furnace itself. They said the furnace had learning feature which was incorrect. Learning feature should be on a Nest thermostat which I did not have and did not ask to install. The auto 10 mins is just a simple switch setting on the furnace control board. The setting they did I could do it with ecobee with more options. Now I have to rewire the ecobee by myself. 4. They do not have enough ecobee knowledge since they do Nest more. They wired R terminal to Rh which was incorrect. It should always go to Rc unless there are 2 wires for Rh and Rc. 5. They have done most promises expected one which is the switch that is not GFI. It's still my existing switch. From what I know it's not followed the city code. We will find out after the inspection from the city. 6. The installation was done properly which was good. However, the AC unit's front already got a big scratch during the installation. Kind of grey glues were on the furnace and my floors. The floors had some damages also but it's plastic tile so not a big deal. The quote mentions home protection guarantee, but just for anyone to know don't think it's true. They did play loud radio which was against to their guarantee. For me I do not care. It's just FYI. Notes: The Aprilaire humidifier 700 has an outdoor sensor which was connected to the control device. It's now connected to the c and y1 terminals. I do not see why it's done this way. read more

I have both my AC and furnace replaced with ARC a few days ago, through Homedepot. I won't say the job is completely messed up, but it definitely not as described. First, a sales rep was here to give me an estimate. He is very polite and nice. He walked around, checking my unit and count all my supply and return units. Then start highballing me. I am kind of tired since I do not expect those annoying selling tactics will apply in selling air conditioner. He quote me the whole system for over 13,000 which my research tell me he was out of his mind. I showed him my previous quote that only cost 6900 which I still have room to negotiate. And here it comes to boss, which is an important role in highball technique. And at the end, I settled with somewhere around 7600. I pay the extra for the different brand they provide and Homedepot, hoping they will step in if things go wrong. Now I saved 5k. The technician came on time the next morning. Laying cloth on our floor and being careful when they move in and out those equipments. I appreciate that. They are also very nice and answer a few of my concerns. That was a 8 hours job and I was prepared to leave for my work. Right before I leave the door, they said they were almost done. They are able to manage to shrink a 8 hours job to a 5 hours. I was concerned if the time was saved because of their high efficiency or they are simply in a rush. But I really have to leave, so they have me signed those paper work and they said they will finished it up and close the door for me. When I come home that evening. Nice and cold breeze came out from the vents. Life is good. And I walked downstairs, life go back to normal, maybe full of stress. They promised they will clean up, I wasn't expecting they swap and mop my whole basement, but at lease not leaving me a grease floor or lots of metal scrap on top of the unit. It seems that the cloth laid on the floor really did not as functional as it seems. Looking at the furnace and ducts, I was shocked. How can it looks like a shipping package from some inexperienced individual eBay seller? Why there are some many tape! My sales rep showed me beautiful picture with neat and pretty furnace, filter, return and supply duct connected seamlessly without those ugly tape. Later I asked them why there are so many tape on it. They said it is required by the city. Hmmm... So I went visit some of my neighbors. They all break the code. My salesperson included the price of building permit from the city. I am going to call them to check the code and see if my furnace did pass the inspection. When the salesperson was here he told me the furnace should be on box and not bricks. Bricks is bad, box is good. Well, the bricks are still there! Then I check my air humidifier. The salesperson want me to get a new one, but I do not know why should I if it is still working. So he agree to hook it up for me. And we'll, it is hooked up, but it is leaking. The water intake connection is leaking and dripping slowly. The air is leaking. The humidifier are poorly sealed with silicon. Maybe one tube of silicone is not enough? Not all seams were sealed. Real frustration came when I check my smart themostate. It shows 1 stage furnace was installed. I am pretty sure the salesperson sold me a 2 stage var speed. I trusted him and so I looked into the wiring. The 2 stages furnace w2 wiring is missing. Now it maybe the furnace is 1 stage or the technician saved some time skipped some wires so they can go home early. If skipping some wires is the case, I suspecting some other setup steps they might also skipped for their own convenient, otherwise how is it possible for them to save 2-3 hours? Unless the salesperson is not knoweageble. And of course I turn my air humidifier to the test/reset mode, the blower isn't working like I did work the night right before the installation. Maybe the wiring? I have no idea. I emailed them. The customer service called back and setup an appointment with me for tomorrow. Hopefully they will have a reasonable solution for this. I read positive reviews online. With problematic installation nonexistent service after installation, I feel I was scammed into a contract and perhaps the reviews I read were fake. If you choose this company, be prepared for them to vanish after you pay. AND don't be fooled by their "Quality Assurance Manager" because that's also another shady position you will never hear back from. Recently had the furnace/humidifier replaced in the spring then summer comes around and there's an issue with the condensation line. They refused to take responsibility for checking the line when they had installed the furnace and now blaming it on the AC company even though the unit gets yearly tune up. It took three days for a technician to contact me to schedule a check. The charge for clearing the line is 202 and they don't take off the diagnostic charge of 66. Definitely not the gold standard for customer service and surprised Home Depot has them As the preferred vendor provider. read more

Ridiculously over priced quotes with lack of Honesty while interacting. We called the personnel for a service last week for our furnace repair. This furnace was installed by them couple of years back. The person showed up on time did a check on the furnace to find the gas valve malfunctioning. The replacement charge which the person pulls on his I-pad was $619. My first reaction to it was "sure, lets get it done". My second though was lets negotiate a price, after all, how costly would a gas value would be $200, $300. I threw a number that it can be done in $300. He bluntly denied saying "Not us". I paid his $95 (visit charge) and let him go and researched them on yelp.com and found out that these guys are really dishonest, from other people reviews. I happened to get hold of another furnace repair company. Lakeland Heating and Cooling owner(224 201 4146) by Mr. Jason. He turns up next morning, runs his diagnosis and find faults in gas valve as expected. Turns out Jason finds out the gas value was under warranty which means it can be replaced without charge (unbelievable) and his labor charge would be just $70. his visit charge was $80, totaling to $150. I am writing a good review for the Jason who was very honest, he would have just charged us for the faulty piece and replaced the piece on his own pocketing the money, which I believe the ARS guys would have done with his $619 price quote. $619 VS $70. We were thrilled for not having to pay the hefty price, encouraging dishonest company. Please consider researching the quote this company gives you. read more

I wanted to get a furnace inspection for piece of mind. Our furnace is approaching 20 years. After pricing around and talking to a friend I went to Home Depot to arrange the inspection. Home Depot facilitated the connection with ARS. ARS called me within 15 minutes of leaving Home Depot. Fast forward, Freddie came out and did a thorough furnace inspection. He explained the results, wore his mask, answered my questions, and overall was a true professional. I will use ARS/Rescue in the future. read more

ARS technicians are always prompt and polite. My problem is with the ARS office. Technicians no longer provide receipts or copies of checklists, promising instead that one will be emailed. Wrong! I had a $400.00 repair on my 2 1/2 year old AC earlier this year. Had to call twice to get a receipt. Today (8/25) I just made my second call to try to get a copy of the checklist from my 7/18 AC check. As usual I was put on hold (6+ minutes) while someone tried to find a customer service rep with no success. I was then promised a call back. That hasn't happened either. I've been a customer for 30 years and am very disappointed in the lack of customer service and care from ARS. Obviously I will be finding a new service provider. read more

Terrible customer service!!! Called to schedule appointment and they missed to ask a very important question about sewer line access point!!! Major miss that makes $300 difference in price to check the sewer line. On the top of that, scheduled for between 8am-12pm and received the phone call in the morning telling me that only available appointments are between 10am-2pm! When told them about 8 and 12 she said most likely will be around 12. 2h later she called again to tell me that it will be between 2pm and 4pm!!!! They showed up at 3pm and I found out that just because it's inside the house main access to the sewer line IT'S GOING TO BE A DIFFERENT PRICE AND THE DIFFERENCE WAS $300 MORE!!!!!!!! We had ARS Rooter come out. Our furnace has been running just fine, we just occasionally heard a little whistling noise from it and wondered if a bearing needed to be replaced. The service man looked at it for 2 minutes and said the motor was older, that it was probably going to cost at least 1200 to replace it, and that we might as well just get a new furnace and air conditioner which will be anywhere from $5000 to $10000. He charged us $95 and left. We looked up the part that he said needed to be replaced and it is a $50 part. We then called a local HVAC in the area locally and they quoted us over the phone $400 to replace the older motor system. This vendor that Home Depot is using is just looking to take people to the cleaners and bring in new furnaces. They are not interested in honest repair work. My husband and I are out $95 for this, and feel "taken" by Home Depot and this ARS Rooter. I have tried multiple times to get through to a person at Home Depot (spent and hour this morning) and also called the ARS Rooter company. They will not return my call because they know I am disappointed. Is this what Home Depot is working with as a reputable company - or is this a money grab of some sort to sell appliances. Updating my review. ARS does listen to their feedback and they finally went the extra mile to achieve customer satisfaction. After 5-years of frustration and over thousands spent, ARS finally stepped up to the plate and did what's right -- valuing customer service and satisfaction over charging their customers for everything and not claiming responsibility. After the last review, ARS reached-out to me and was concerned with my situation. They offered to fix everything for free, refund my last service call, and extend my warranty (including labor!) for the next two years. I'm not sure if they are under new management or what, but whatever the case may be, I'm happy finally with the results. ARS / Rescue Rooter - Plumbing Near Me - Itasca, Illinois

These guys continue to be my "go to" plumbers when something watery go awry in my historic home. They have fixed everything from leaks in the ceiling, to sump pumps to fixtures. On this visit, Christopher was my plumber and what a great guy he was! He came a quickly realized that the hardware that I had purchased was not going to fit into the holes that already existed in my soapstone counter so he left and came back after I had that issue resolved. He then worked, and worked and worked to get the fixtures to work in this sink (old houses have charm but require a lot of patience and "monkeying" to get things to work) Christopher stayed until he found the perfect washer to stop the faucet from leaking and was just a great guy to have in my home (wish I could say that about all repair men!) I am a business owner and I manage several properties. I was partnered with ARS via Home Depot. I submitted my request in September for tune-ups on furnaces only to finally get on the calendar for November (so much for being proactive). I finally (after 7 calls) got on the calendar and requested to have 23 of my properties serviced and made it very clear to all parties that I would need to be billed separately for each property. All agreed. Finally on the 1st day of service, I received a call from Tracy at ARS asking for payment on the spot. I informed her that I had arranged to be billed (I'm a business owner giving them multiple properties to service) and I gave her the name of the employee at ARS whom I was working with. She rudely stated that her General Manager Chris Sugano would have never approved billing and if I couldn't pay then we would need to cancel all orders. I told her I was going to contact the person at ARS that was helping me and she rudely stated that it didn't matter who I called, whatever the GM states is what is. I have to say that this was the most stressful, aggravating, and insulting experience I have ever had. Not to mention how irresponsible and unprofessional it was that the GM didn't even have the audacity to contact me (after being asked to). This whole process was by far the WORST experience I have ever had and I will NEVER request service from ARS OR Home Depot ever again! I had tenants upset as they took the day off of work to be home for the service call; I had homeowners upset as they had been patiently waiting for 3 months to have their furnaces serviced; and I am extremely disappointed in this company and its workers - including the poor leadership from the General Manager of this company. I will never refer them to any of my past or future clients. I suggest anyone reading this save themselves the hassle and aggravation and work with another company that can give you the service and respect as a company should.
