You could say I have a lot of experience with movers as I inherited my father's personally woodworked furniture which added to my own collection that he made for me. I have a lot of sentimental (and heavy) stuff plus I have a herniated disc, so moving is even more overwhelming. And moving every year for so long has been so much less than ideal. I had a go-to mover but they didn't reply when I reached out so I figured I would try someone new out bc, maybe I can have options. Incredibly, Making Moves packed everything much more thoroughly and somehow the move seemed shorter...?! Even accounting for the shorter distance, this move was seriously fast but not lacking one bit in caution. And here is the kicker, it was less expensive too and the team was bigger. I still love the other mover but this team has beyond proved itself so I guess this is my first choice mover now. Treat this team right. They are in demand for a reason.

The second move involved coming the day before to pack up our kitchen, then moving our apartment furniture and packed boxes into our new house. Before the moves, Alfredo came over to assess how much stuff we had and then gave us a quote that was competitive and reflected the actual cost of the move. He had 4 guys do the move -- it's much cheaper to have more guys because they do the move faster and you spend less money. They guys were all very respectful and sweet. Both moves happened fast and efficiently and all our items were moved with great care. Nothing was broken or scratched and the guys remove their shoes before coming in the house. Professional from start to finish. Crazy strong and fast. They were efficient yet careful. No damage to any of our belongings. Ty and Brandon worked quickly in order to help my family save costs--even doing extra things to help like move a whole fridge to make my life easier. What was estimated to take 3.5-5 hours took the pair of them 2.5 hours. This is with one tall flight of stairs at the old apartment and FOUR flights of winding stairs at the new. Unreal. My family has moved twice before but no other moving company left anywhere near the same positive impression as YouMoveMe. They also brought stuff to our house, to the dump, and to donate!!! They worked all day and helped us organize things in the new storage unit so that we can easily find things. They also were very patient with us us as we figured stuff out. The cost was pretty decent compared to what other companies charge. Considering it was 3 guys, a full truck, and a pretty big and long job as well as the fact that they never complained and were friendly the whole time I think that it was definitely worth what we paid. Call or email them to get a quote and they stick to it. There was even a point where we couldn't find our comic collection after we were pretty much done for the day but they went back to our storage unit with me to help me look for it and make sure we didn't lose it. I needed a full-service move: packing, moving furniture, handling arcade cabinets/TVs, and the disassembly/assembly of three desks. They recommended a 3-man crew, and while I knew the 2-hour base rate was optimistic, I didn't expect the experience to go downhill so fast. The Pros: * They were flexible with timing. * They quickly disassembled and assembled my desk. * They were willing to work past their standard service hours, staying until 9:30 PM to finish the job. The Cons: * Extreme Disrespect: Despite specifically hiring and paying for packing services, we overheard the crew complaining about having to pack. Even worse, they were caught calling me "incompetent" and saying I didn't know what I was doing while I was in my own home. We addressed it on the spot, but the atmosphere was incredibly hostile and soured the entire day. * Poor Workmanship: We had already pre-packed many of our own boxes, but the items they handled were treated with zero care. * Major Damages: The total cost of the move was $1,195 for 5+ hours of work. However, the day after the move, I discovered over $2,000 worth of items, some irreplaceable, were damaged due to their poor packing. While I appreciate that they stayed late until 9:30 PM to get the furniture moved, the verbal abuse and the destruction of my property made the "cheap" rate a total illusion. Bottom Line: My lesson was learned--don't go cheap. Between the insults and the $2k+ in damages, this was a bad experience. Do not use for FULL SERVICE.

11/24 update We decided to go with JNR after all after…read moreEugene explained the mix up. He was very accommodating & easy to work with. Made a huge difference in our decision making. The local CA company they used (I believe it was Pioneer) was amazing. They missed 2 tiny drawers but I was able to pack it in my suitcase. I'd highly recommend the CA moving company. Once our household items arrived in HI (it took just under 6 weeks from the time they finished in CA & it was moved into storage in HI) we were contacted to see if we wanted to watch our items being stored. We agreed. Chris was there to meet us (very nice & helpful. Walked us through it) & it seemed to go smoothly. He left half way & the unloaders slowed down. 1 quick phone call & it was back on track. We are pleased with the storage facilities. Secure & temperature controlled. The only hiccup worth mentioning is the 1 of the unloaders was on his phone 98% of the time. Even while pushing the carts he had his phone up to his face. He was young lol. We did have to mention that some of the boxes that said "this side up" meant they needed to store it a certain way. Overall I'd recommend working with Eugene & Chris.

They responded to my inquiry right away with detailed information, which gave me confidence in choosing them. Jane was wonderful to work with when scheduling my move. On moving day, Albert, Kirk, and Leland were kind, professional, and hardworking. There was a small issue at my building in the beginning, but they were patient and understanding while everything was sorted out. I had several large and fragile pieces of furniture, and they handled everything with great care. They also made an additional stop at my storage unit and organized everything so neatly. Moving is stressful, but these three men made the experience so much easier and took a huge weight off my shoulders.
