There were wires all over the floor and a VIOLATION notice on the door because she had been running her generator for over 30 days. This indicated to me that this had been an issue for a while... Why were we not notified ahead of time about the electricity? She offered to let us stay one night with the generator running, and to book us a hotel for the other night. We declined the one night, as we didn't feel safe staying in a location with all these wires everywhere and a violation notice on the door. And luckily, after some scrambling, found a hotel to stay in for two nights. I looked at reviews online, to see where I had gone wrong in booking this location, and noticed a recent review from October noting the same issue we were facing in November. I had booked our suites in August and therefore hadn't check since then. But was this issue was ongoing for two months? When I reached out the following week to request a refund, she said she had no money to refund us. It's now been a month and she has still not refunded me for the stay that didn't happen. I implore you to find accommodations elsewhere. Even if the electricity issues are fixed by this point, my experience indicates that this business may have other issues...

I stayed here when traveling to Bear Mountain with my husband. We had a great time. The house is…read morereally nicely done and very comfortable. There is a lot of attention paid to detail. The hosts are not overly friendly, but they are extremely helpful and not intrusive. There was a really nice outdoor area with a Koi pond, but it was too cold to check it out. The food was good. Each morning they serve a hot meal with some bakery item, along with juice and coffee/tea. Cereal was available for those who would like it. Snacks (cookies, and pretzels) were also available in the common room anytime, as well as sodas and coffee or tea. Cream sherry and ice water are placed in the room daily. My only complaint, which is why they received 4 starts instead of 5, was that our mattress was kind of on the hard side. I won't up with a stiff back the second day I was there. The town was interesting. It's has a large immigrant blue collar population, and people were friendly. There were some very good restaurants that our hosts at the B&B suggested and we had great meals. A farmers market is open during the summer and we got to meet some town people there who were very nice. The price was average for a B&B but a little pricey for lodging. We would stay there again.

I will say the home is beautiful. Otherwise, very disappointing: 1. We were greeted by two young ladies (dressed in ripped jeans and sweatshirts) who showed us to our table - a card table with folding chairs jammed up against an old stove. They took our coats. 2.The tea wasn't brewed - it was a pot of hot water with various tea bags served on the side. 3. It was a preset menu of finger sandwiches (cheese/chicken salad/sliced turkey); 3 scones; Christmas cookies. A Dixie cup sized serving of soup, served with plastic spoons. Water was served in plastic cups. 4. One of us is vegan, the other dairy intolerant; we asked for other menu options- they brought out sliced cucumbers on stale white bread - there was no pumpernickel or other type of bread available because they ran out. 5. After 90 minutes, they started to clear the place out, gave us our coats and the bill ($90.00), and began to break down the tables around us. Absolutely terrible that they charged that kind of money for an experience that was one step up from a lemonade stand.

Then for entrees the seafood fra diavlo for me and the girona paella for my wife. All was reasonably priced. Even the bottle of Arrogant Frog Pinot noir was only $28. Overall I would rate this a 3.5 mostly since the food quality was average to above average. Service was a 4.5. I will definitely will be back!

It was easy to find during the afternoon but I can see how some people can get lost here at night since the area is very dark with no street lights. Then we were moved to the reception hall. Wow. They did a great job decorating the place! I know the wedding was small but the location was perfect for it. The food was delicious as well!

In early December one of my former coworkers held his wedding here along the Hudson Valley line area. . . . excuse me . . . . but I'm not familiar with anything in New York outside of the city. But MAN is it gorgeous out here. There was a castle on a hilltop in the distance! Small mountains or very big hills surrounding sweeping planes of golf course green. The back area had a fire pit and seating while inside there were epic chandeliers, toasty fireplaces, and long tables set up along the sides with a large dance hall area for the middle in a giant hall. The actual wedding took place in a greenhouse like atrium attached and covered outside. Seriously, gorgeous building and location for any special occasion or wedding. The service was impeccable. Waiters came by for the toasting hour before dinner with little appetizers and canapes. There was some kind of delicious mapley fatty bacon in there somewhere that was awesome. So why four stars and not five? Man, those bartenders, even though they are very generous and sweet as can be, cannot pour a good drink. I switched from wine because I wasn't a fan of it to quickly an old fashioned which tasted incredibly off. I think because it was a more classic style. But then later I experimented with trying a Manhattan cocktail after I saw my friend with it and that was even worse. Finally, resolved to sticking to well liquor and a simple mixer and everything was fine after that. The food was meh. The salad course was actually my favorite part. I'm not sure if they make the food on premises though or if there is a catering deal of sorts. But we had an arugula salad with a lemon vinaigrette and shaved pecorino romano and it was AWESOME. So flavorful and simple and refreshing. For my entree the choices were either diver sea scallops or New York Strip Steak. Easy choice. Steak, duh. It was served with garrison seasonal farm vegetables and parmesan risotto in a red wine jus. The sauce was interesting - good I think but weird. The meat was really tough. It was cooked okay but it was just a super poor cut of meat with a lot of fat grizzle and just hard to chew and enjoy. That was the main focal point of the meal though and I was pretty dismayed. Also heard from other people at the wedding that the scallops were just as bad. Very tiny portion and it had a funky off taste to them. Great location, stunning and in every sense beautiful beyond words. Food and drinks - very meh. Solid Four stars.

I stayed here because I wanted to be away from the masses and crowds, and the Waterstone Inn fit the bill perfectly. The inn is literally across from the lake, so makes for a perfect summer or weekend getaway. The inn provides kayaks and canoes free of charge to go out on the lake. I communicated with Maureen before my stay and she was very quick to answer any questions. She was an absolute delight to converse with throughout my stay. She mentioned they weren't sure if they'd reopen after 2020, but they invested more money into the property and made some renovations to make the place more comfortable for guests, despite being an older property. All rooms/suites have a private bathroom and locks for privacy. I stayed in the spacious Bradford Suite on the 3rd floor, but all the rooms they offered seemed equally delightful to stay in when I took a peek. The place is so small and cozy that I didn't encounter any other guests except during breakfast hours (I think only one other room was occupied mid-week). Breakfast is included and is delicious...the food is freshly made to order. There are plenty of places to sit for breakfast whether it be a couch in the lounge, the window-side tables with lake views, or the front porch. The nautical and lake themes throughout the property were very well thought out and tasteful to give you a "getting away" type of feel. The porch area is welcoming and the perfect place where you can enjoy spectacular views of the action on the lake. The property has a parking lot on property directly adjacent to the inn which always felt safe and secure. The town of Greenwood Lake on the NJ/NY border is very cute, and was the filming location of a lesser known recent movie starring Morgan Freeman called the Magic of Belle Isle. All staff I encountered were amazingly welcoming, so I wouldn't hesitate to run as small businesses like these deserve to be supported.
