Myself and my partner stayed at The Riverview BnB recently for just one night. The owner Carolla was sweet and accommodating throughout the process. We stayed in the Cottage, and were impressed with the high style of the decor. She explained there was always more work to be done on such an old house, but everything worked fine for us. Old buildings are quirky, but this place was outfitted in luxury. Maybe it was because we were the only guests and it was early March. Maybe it was because we were exhausted and much in need of a respite.But we both thought it was quite pleasant! Wish we could have stayed longer. In opposition to other reviewers, I highly recommend Riverview. By the way, you will need a car so that you can see both Piermont and Nyack. The Inn rests near the waters edge halfway between the two towns. Cost of a taxi from Metro North was $30. read more

I had reservations to stay at this establishment in November. We called ahead, as requested, to let Carolla know our ETA and she said that there was an issue at the BnB but would not discuss it over the phone When we arrived, she said there was no electricity. There were wires all over the floor and a VIOLATION notice on the door because she had been running her generator for over 30 days. This indicated to me that this had been an issue for a while... Why were we not notified ahead of time about the electricity? She offered to let us stay one night with the generator running, and to book us a hotel for the other night. We declined the one night, as we didn't feel safe staying in a location with all these wires everywhere and a violation notice on the door. And luckily, after some scrambling, found a hotel to stay in for two nights. I looked at reviews online, to see where I had gone wrong in booking this location, and noticed a recent review from October noting the same issue we were facing in November. I had booked our suites in August and therefore hadn't check since then. But was this issue was ongoing for two months? When I reached out the following week to request a refund, she said she had no money to refund us. It's now been a month and she has still not refunded me for the stay that didn't happen. I implore you to find accommodations elsewhere. Even if the electricity issues are fixed by this point, my experience indicates that this business may have other issues... read more

I booked a room here ahead of time for Thanksgiving day and prepaid in October. When I contacted the owner (en route to the bed and breakfast) to let her know our arrival time on the check-in day, she informed me there was no heat or electricity, so the room would be unusable. She verbally offered a refund under the circumstances. I had to scramble to make another reservation elsewhere very last-minute. The owner made only one attempt to contact me the day before I arrived, leaving me a vague voicemail with no details about the situation (I didn't see it until later). She wouldn't respond to my emails following up about the promised refund, and when I got through to her on the phone, said that she wouldn't refund me. I'm seeing other reviews that indicate this was an ongoing problem in October and November 2025, but the owner seems to have still accepted reservations and made no serious attempt to let customers know. The location and home are charming and clean. We could not stay here as scheduled due to no power in NOV 2025 when we arrived. The owner stated power issues have been resolved this JAN 2026. read more

A wonderful bohemian bed and breakfast tucked into an adorable town right on the Hudson river. The firehouse was wonderfully restored and nice and cozy on the crisp fall nights. The decor was fabulous and the house sparkling clean. Corolla is absolutely delightful and a glorious cook who uses only the freshest organic ingredients. She allows dogs as well, which is truly special. The firehouse is an easy 10 min walk to downtown Peirmont, where there is a collection of wonderful restaurants, shops and a park with sweeping views of the Hudson River and Tappen Zee Bridge. Would definitely stay here again and could not recommend her establishment any more highly. read more

I was not happy with how this place was run. I stayed in a suite that included a living room, bedroom, and bathroom. The owner never knocked on the door before entering the living room, which was supposedly mine for the weekend. The living room has a glass door, so she could see I was up and dressed, but it still felt inappropriate to me. She'd just walk in and start telling me about her home improvement projects and how she was planning to rearrange the furniture and had just bought a great outfit ... Not the place to stay if you want your own space and privacy. The larger problem I had was the temperature. I stayed there in May, and the room was too warm for me to sleep with no air conditioner or fan. I mentioned this in the morning, and rather than apologizing, the owner was upset that I hadn't told her so that she could come open the windows. (I'd opened the windows myself, and it didn't help.) I suggested she keep a fan in the closet in case of other unexpectedly warm days, and she said "That's ok. It doesn't happen that often." Never apologized for the fact that I'd been unable to sleep due to the heat. She did install a window unit that day, as had already been planned. I would not stay here again, which is unfortunate because the location is just beautiful! It's right on a river, walking distance from a state park and beautiful long hiking trail. It's a really cute and amazingly pretty town. read more

My sister and I had planned a quick getaway and decided to stay here because it was close to a friend in the area and convenient to the places we wanted to see. I had looked up hotels nearby but wanted the lodging to be more personalized and have some local charm. This bed and breakfast was just what I wanted. The decor was warm, classy and full of ambience. The owner is friendly and willingly shares information about the building, the area and its history. She provided recommendations for dinner and served us tea upon arrival. Once her dog got to know us she was also quite friendly. I loved look and feel of the place and the breakfast part of it was absolutely delicious! I would recommend this place if you are looking for quaint comfort, especially for adults. read more

I rented the whole firehouse for a weekend and I do not regret it. It is a lovely home and it's in a nice location for a reasonable price. The only downsides to the place is a potential lack of parking, we had three rooms but only two spots, though the innkeeper was willing to move her vehicle, I felt uncomfortable asking. Also,in the suite the toilet is in the most impossibly small nook. However, with the extent of her renovations to the whole space I can kind of over look it. But it's so awkward. The best thing about the place was the exceptionally lush sheets in the suite. I was in love! read more

Spectacular views of the Hudson and Tappan Zee from a gorgeous old house ca. 1840 (I believe). There are a few porches and a very well tended garden. Furnishings are really gorgeous, very tasteful, exotic even. Someone here is an unusually good interior decorator, but then again it simply fits the amazing old home. Some minor points lost for the lack of a complete homey feel -- the slightly creepy co-owner (a couple does not own the place, two single businesspeople, I believe), and the maid was left to take care of us for breakfast. A side benefit I guess is that she was available all day and treated us very well. The owners of RiverView have also converted a firehouse into a B&B in Piermont. There, you're on your own - "unhosted". Piermont is also a nice town, so this may be worth checking out. The long pier onto the Hudson is also worth the hike. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. The owner advertises pet sitting, given that this B and B is a pet friendly establishment. She told me she would be happy to watch, walk, and play with our dog while we were gone on a hike for 8 hours our first day. When we called at the end of the day to say we would be a few minutes late, she told us she hadn't walked him at all. Dogs are required to stay in their crate while owners are out, which we thought nothing of because we expected he would be let out. Apparently when she went to walk him, he "growled" at her, and scared her so much that she left. Our dog is 10 pounds at best, and looks like a teddy bear. He is harmless. She told us she didn't have "gloves" to deal with the situation, so she left him there. In a tiny crate, with no food, no water, and no ability to go to the bathroom for 8 hours. The worst part was that she didn't call to tell us what happened, ask if we had any tips, or give us the chance to come home and relieve him. Instead when we got nervous on the phone call that WE made, she told us condescendingly to "breathe" over and over. It was insanely insulting. Clearly she knew she was in the wrong because she called later that evening and went over and over the situation saying no one should feel at fault, and that if anyone should it was us because she wasn't "properly introduced" to the dog first. She wouldn't let us talk and just went on and on. In the morning, she said goodbye to our dog continuously on the way out-as if trying to compensate for how she made him suffer the night before. This woman is cowardly, condescending, exhibits cruelty toward animals and has zero sense of how to handle service situations with customers. I would stay far away from this place if I were you-and keep your dogs even further. read more

On the day of my reservation, the manager lets me know that she accidentally booked us for the wrong day and that there's no rooms for us. We had already taken days off and were on the way up. She claimed that she sent an email earlier so we asked her to forward it again as we hadn't received anything. Turns out this idiot sent it to herself, as in the email was addressed to the same address it came from. To top it off, she couldn't have been more rude about everything. read more

This place made us $350 poorer and offered very little in the way of what one might expect for that much money. We stayed in the main house and because we ended up being the only guests, we were upgraded to the "Cottage" room, which seemed very nice because it has it's own separate entrance and an extravagant steam shower. It all looked wonderful and comfy - at first. Problem #1 -The Ant Infestation: As soon as we came in for the first time, I saw a few ants crawling on the floor in the upstairs bathroom. I didn't think anything of it until we went into the room and I set down an empty coffee cup on the counter in the kitchenette. When I came back just a half hour later, the cup was literally swarming with ants. I also found them in the sink and shower room coming out of the wall. The kitchen upstairs and the dining area where we were served breakfast also had a parade crawling on the counters and stove. Problem #2 - The Obnoxious Noises: The Cottage Room seems very private at first, until you realize that the laundry room and loud creaking stairs leading to the rest of the house are directly outside the (very thin) door. It would all be fine if it wasn't for the fact that the maid is doing laundry all day, and the owner was apparently also doing it all night. The constant commotion made the little lapdogs bark outside our door until 2 am, complete with the owner yelling at them to be quiet. Problem #3 - Contractors were coming in and out of the house the entire time we stayed there. They were also walking directly around the windows in our room, and one of them appeared at eye-level in the bathroom window as I was using the toilet. The window in the steam room didn't have any way of covering it (how relaxing!). And the windows that did have shades had cheap ones that didn't completely cover them. The only good thing I can say about this place is that the maid is very sweet and makes a killer omelet. But, overall, we spent two sweaty, sleepless nights here brushing off ants. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Best Western. read more

We stayed here for 5 nights and found it to be so warm and comfortable. The house is beautiful and the views are extraordinary. When we arrived, the owner was waiting for us on the stairs outside. That was so nice because it was dark already. Our room was very comfortable and the lovely linens and thick down comforter made it even more. There were little touches like flowers in tiny vases that gave the room a feel of someone taking care of the environment. Breakfast when we wanted it! We usually miss breakfast bc we don't get up early enough so that was a nice surprise. We ate on the veranda. So beautiful. The owner was very thoughtful and helpful. We loved our stay there and hope to return many times. read more

About a month ago, my husband and I stayed at The Fire House in Piermont for a few days - wish it could have been longer - on a visit to New York City. For anyone in search of restful privacy in a stylish, relaxed environment, the Firehouse provides. This graceful bed & breakfast, un-hosted and with a kitchen thoughtfully stocked, has three bedrooms, including a self-contained upstairs suite with its own entrance. A convenient distance from New York City, we were grateful to find it - a natural jewel in the lower Hudson Valley. Both of the co-owners, one of whom graciously served as our innkeeper, Carolla, were welcoming and helpful. I suspect I would enjoy this bed & breakfast at any season of the year. I know I miss the gentle murmuring of the brook this property overlooks, which I heard softly with the bedroom windows open at night. I would gladly return. read more

Beautiful house, beautiful grounds, beautifully appointed, great view of the Hudson River and the Tappan Zee Bridge. Warm, welcoming are the first two words to come to mind. I found this place by chance -and found it to be a haven. The owner converted a huge hundred + year old barn into B&B using many of the original charming details such as wide plank floors, barn doors and stone floors. It is perched on an incline looking out on the Hudson River. It features great, robust breakfast with a focus on healthy nutritional combinations, local and small footprint sourcing, but not over top! The cottage has a small kitchen and separate entrance. The bath in the cottage has a fantastic steam shower and is built with gorgeous local stone. This place is wonderful. I've stayed there once and I'll stay again. The area features a five star restaurant (hard to get into -of course) the restaurant also has a no reservation "café" attached next door. Both are worth a try if you afford them. If not, lots of local options north in Nyack by car. On Sundays a bar/club in the town of Piermont has good bands that play cover music from the 70's - actually fun to see. There are two close local trails to hike or walk. One trail begins in town through a residential condo complex, but ends with scraggly narrow, flat passage out to a great view up and down the Hudson. As for shopping...the only place to shop is the Unique Boutique in Nyack; its tiny, but I found hand -decorated converse for kids, and baby tee gifts, and fabulous bracelets at discounted prices (vies a vie the city) for myself. read more

I didn't even stay here, but I want to comment on the service and reservation process. I called Riverview in June requesting an estimate for a weekend stay at the end of July. The woman seemed busy and requested that I fill out the form online. I made it clear that I was only calling for pricing and was not prepared to make a reservation. Apparently, I filled out the wrong form online, but didn't know and didn't think anything of it. I did not provide any credit card information, just contact email and phone number. I just received a call from Riverview AT MY WORKPLACE and the woman began yelling at me telling me that I reserved a room for this coming weekend and I haven't responded to any of her emails. I checked my spam folder and searched all aspects of my email account, but only found one from Riverview (from June 3 - the day I called asking for an estimate). I am baffled that she had the nerve to research my name and find the number of my place of employment (I did not provide my work number in the form). She easily could have called my cell phone number, which was provided, and leave me a voice message, in the event I didn't answer that call. I am so glad I did not intend to stay at this bed and breakfast. If this is how she treats prospective customers, I can't imagine how she treats people when she already has their money. read more

I did not even make it to the Inn but would like to write a review based on the service I received while having a confirmed reservation. I was supposed to be going there this weekend but yesterday my husband received a call from the owner telling him the room we specifically requested and received a confirmation for was no longer available and we had been moved to another room which was not even listed on the Inn's website. When asked why this happened we were told that if someone wants to stay two nights instead of one, like us, they reserved the right to move us. Now I understand a lot of places have a 2 night minimum but on the website they tell you they will charge you a $35.00 fee if you choose to stay one night, which was totally fine with us. I called for this reservation over two months ago. We wanted the "Cottage" room because we were going to bring our dog with us and liked the fact that it had an outdoor area and private entrance and was obviously on the ground floor. The weekend I originally wanted the "Cottage" room was already booked and so I changed the date of our trip so we could have this room on another weekend. She told me she could not guarantee the room so far in advance for one night but would let me know. About a month ago I received an email confirming the reservation at the "Cottage." Now within a couple days of our reservation we received an email saying our room had been changed to the Mercedes Suite, which isn't even on the website and so we said we would like to see some pictures of this room. The owner obliged but of course this room was not comparable to the "Cottage," it was not on the main floor, no private entrance, no kitchen, no outdoor area and the furnishings were dated and it was conveniently the same price as the "Cottage." This only added insult to injury. No way were we going to stay at a place that changed our reservation without our consent within a few days of our trip and on top of that pay the same amount when this room clearly offered so much less. I am disappointed to say that our trip has been post postponed to another time but I can guarantee you that when we do go, we will not be staying at this Inn. read more

My wife and I stayed with Carolla for 2 nights while in town for a wedding. The house, the town and the area were great! Great location to shops, restaurants and entertainment.
