Such a quaint little inn!! Didn't stay here, but went here for brunch on a Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Ordered avocado and salmon toast, duck eggs Benedict, and berry pancakes and all were so good. But the star of the show was the duck!!! Truly one of the best brunch dishes I have had in a while. The duck was so tender and paired so well with the sweet compote. A truly unexpected but delicious pairing. I could not stop ""oohhh and ahhhing" after every single bite and you bet we wiped our plates clean! After you eat, make sure you leave time to walk around the inn. Beautiful restaurant setting on the highest point in Peekskill overlooking the Hudson River. Valet parking. Lovely grounds. Nicely decorated interior with cozy rooms and good service. Food is good, but lacks that "wow" feeling you get from 5 star cuisine. The pork chop was perfectly cooked and tender, but needs more herb spice like fresh rosemary and thyme. The fresh bucatini pasta with clams was a highlight dish, but the portion was small for one adult. Accompanied by top notch fried polenta rolls - delicious. The Peking Duck was tender but a bit fatty and didn't have that super crispy skin you associate with this Chinese delicacy. Nice spicy sauce. The Cesar salad was classically prepared and the mussels were tender but some were gritty. Very nice experience, but some entrees need a little tweaking. read more

The Abbey Inn is absolutely stunning and has rich history, as it was once was an outlook post for George Washington and his army during the Revolutionary War, overlooking the Hudson River. My mom treated me to a spa treatment, dinner, and a nights stay for my birthday. I did not sleep well and could hear everything in the room next door. To the Abbey's defense, it was a couple with three kids and it doesn't seem like a place you would bring kids necessarily. We could clearly hear their conversations. There was an electric fireplace in our room, but it did not work. Items usually provided in a high end hotel were only available upon request at the front desk. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. The spa treatment and staff were lovely. There was only one toilet stall in the locker room. I've had the luxury and privilege to go to a couple high end hotel and spas and it just seemed like the Abbey missed the mark in a lot of ways. The fitness center is off site at the apartment buildings up the hill. The spa relaxation room was basic; no reading material or lounging areas, just seats and a couch. The sauna was nice but quite small. I believe there was also only one shower. Plus size robes were available upon request. The slippers were cheap quality. This place absolutely has potential and, again, is stunning, but really doesn't deliver "luxury" unfortunately. read more

Came for dinner on Xmas Eve with my whole family and was immediately disappointed when we noticed a change in the price fix that was online. And the new menu was just lousy. Other than that pick a sandwich off the bar menu. Sparkling water was brought out in one of the places regular water bottles ‍ Service was terrible, Prime Rib was dried out, brought the wrong meal out to my daughter and she didn't get her replacement meal until everyone else was done. If I could give this zero stars, I would. I'd been wanting to try out the spa for years. Finally had the opportunity to do so recently. To say I was disappointed is beyond an understatement. Given that they bill themselves as a luxury spa and for the prices they charge I was expecting so much more. The booking process through the checkout process was subpar. You can't book online so you have to call. It took me multiple attempts as the line was frequently busy. When I finally did make an appointment I never received a confirmation. So I was willing to chalk that up to a hiccup, but then the day of my appointment came. The locker room is minuscule. There is one small bench and eight women were all trying to get undressed at the same time, stepping on each other, hitting each other in the head with the lockers. There's only one bathroom stall. The relaxation room has TV screens all over it. Not very relaxing. The only thing available to drink was water. Most high-end spas have an assortment of teas, sometimes even a few snacks. This one had cucumber water and lemon water. That was it. My treatment was fine. I got a facial. The technician tried to upsell me on adding additional treatments. Which I declined. I was already paying over $200 for a 50 minute facial When I asked about extractions, I was told they don't do extractions. That's kind of a main feature of a facial so I thought that was odd. When I checked out, the receptionist was aggressively pressuring me about buying products and a tip. She asked a few times do you want me to add tip? Can I use the credit card on file to add tip, etc. And when I said I was going leave tip in cash in the little envelopes they had she said "well do you need me to do the math for you so you leave the appropriate amount"? Like seriously? Also to an insult to injury when I got home, my husband pointed that I still had mask all around the edge of my face and in my hair. I was picking stuff out of my neck and hair. It was so gross. I ended up having to rewash my face to get it all off. read more

This hotel is so charming and has so many different rooms that it feels more like you're staying in someone's personal castle and not a hotel! We stayed here over Covid and they made us feel safe with how clean the hotel and rooms were! The bar was so cute. We dined at the restaurant and enjoyed a cozy dinner with a nice glass of red. The morning breakfast was fabulous and they have Harney and Sons Paris Tea which is my all time favorite. Really a great hotel but I wish we would have had more time here. read more

Wow!!! Cannot recommend this hotel and spa enough. We came for a spa day and got a couple's massage and hung out in the whirlpool and sauna and it was THE DREAM. It's the only day spa in Westchester that offers multiple and top-notch amenities. The former convent-turned-luxury hotel is set on a hill, majestically overlooking the Hudson River. It's unreal. Every view is stunning and the food at their restaurant Apropos was delicious too (get the burger and the Caesar salad). We were here a couple of hours and it felt like a vacation in a day. Cannot wait to come back and hopefully stay over (they were sold out when we booked)! This is a very special place. 5 stars!!!! read more

If you've ever wondered what it's like to spend the night in a horror movie set, look no further. This former convent-turned-spa-and-hotel should be charming and serene--but instead, it gave off major "we shouldn't be here" energy from the moment we arrived. Peekskill- a "friendly town" was actually a third world country. The atmosphere was unsettling in a way that went beyond old architecture--it felt cold, eerie, and not in a cool historic way. The staff barely acknowledged us, and when they did, it was with the enthusiasm of someone being forced to participate in a séance. The food? Bland at best. All staff said "brand new menu" but it was pasta and a burger. Definitely not the culinary experience you'd hope for in a spa retreat. We tried the Japanese head spa treatment hoping for at least one moment of relaxation, but it was disappointing. The technician told us her whole life story and all her problems from being a teen mom to divorce. The technique was lackluster, and the shampoo was the kind of generic product you'd expect from a 2-star motel, not a "luxury" spa. PS we were still charged $155 plus tip after I gave her an hour long therapy session. Bottom line: we left feeling more tense than when we arrived. Would not return unless filming a paranormal documentary or The White Lotus. Send help. read more

I am finally writing my review from my stay in July! Loved my visit to the Abbey and Spa! I would describe it as relaxed luxury. The service was very attentive and accommodating. The actual grounds of the property are exquisite. Beautiful pollinator gardens pretty much lined all of the pathways. I enjoyed all the meals and drinks we had at Apropos. I felt they had enough options for many different dietary needs. The room was very clean and comfortable. Special shout-out to Jhonny who made our dining experience in Apropos restaurant and Joe who commanded the bar with ease. Both of them were so great and I found myself truly laughing with them they were so fun to be around. I left feeling renewed and peaceful. read more

Sadly, it's just "ok" no matter what they do, This is the consensus from everyone I know that eats here. We have been here at least 15x. We have also stayed here a few times, which is I would say a 7, 8 out of 10. Overall, the restaurant and hotel is a very, attractive upscale place in a lovely location w/beautiful view over looking the Hudson, and well- tended pretty gardens and pathways, that we really want to love, but unfortunately it just always falls short no matter how many Chef Peter Kelly changes of chef etc. that they do. The addition of P Kelly was a benefit, but in the end its the same ol. High priced and/or average or over seasoned food. Dinners everything "looks" amazing on the menu but unfortunately it is never on the level that the price tag justifies/demands. If you are someone that knows food you will understand. Duck, Lamb Chops, Salmon, etc-all just average and all on the over $40++ side. Wine selection is reasonable to high. What kills me is last weekend I wanted to take my wife for special brunch and I ordered a brunch dish that had bacon, and it was brought to me literally sitting in a pool of bacon grease. Literally. Not even patted with a paper towel. So gross. I asked the server would she eat this. She said "never". The brunch or lunch menu never ever changes either. There also some odd dishes that you've never heard of in your life. If you must go, try something simple, expect slow service n weekends as they are usually understaffed, and if you must go then go for dinner which is at least better than lunch/brunch-however it comes with a big price tag. Also only average at a high ticket per item, The bar is nice though and sitting in the garden w./ a glass of wine is very pleasant. Servers are all very nice and try hard. We were rooting hard for this badly needed addition to Northern Westchester hotels and restaurants. While we certainly would stay here again, the number of "little things" were annoying enough to get our attention. The GREAT The grounds, the buildings, the views, cleanliness, room comfort, bed, and couch. The quality of the food and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Weekend breakfast and coffee in the garden (truly magnificent). They spent big time to create a truly wonderful and relaxing atmosphere with sooo much eye candy! The GOOD Accessibility to highways, proximity to our friends and family and the fact that Erin used to work at Marea and knew my master sommelier friend. Other folks we knew happened to stop in too! Small world stuff. The bagged breakfast to go... The BAD The bathroom door whose latch and strike plate are inches apart. The door does not close. The missing cover from our digital room lock. The lack of food service from Sunday afternoon until bagged breakfast on Monday. No dinner on Monday when many local restaurants are also closed. No food to buy for lunch - gotta get up and go, which is usually ok, except for crappy weather days. Getting locked out on the patio with 7 other folks because the programmable locks don't work (typical according to staff) and no one answered the phone at the front desk. At Apropos Restaurant on Saturday night, one of five guests for dinner, asking for the kitchen to not fire my entree until signaled --then getting my entree five seconds after my appetizer dish was removed. And..the couple across from me got their entreesB EFORE their app dishes were cleared. The pool is shared with the Fort Hill apartments and managed by them. Went to the pool on Saturday afternoon and the bathroom was disgusting. Underwear on the floor, dirty paper towels everywhere, overflowing garbage bin. You cannot provide this as an amenity if those responsible cannot do the job to the same standard as your expensive hotel. All of these issues were reported to restaurant and hotel management. Let's hope they manage to get all of these little things ironed out before our next trip north. read more

The Abbey Inn & Spa is one of the nicer hotels i've been to in the world. The grounds are lovely, and the view of the Hudson gives you the impression you're in a painting - it's gorgeous, surreal -- refreshing. We noticed a wedding happening the Saturday afternoon we checked in, and it's clear the couple chose a really nice venue. i scoped out Trip Advisor to get a comprehensive view of what to expect, and all of the glowing reviews are well-deserved. The property is very clean, and we appreciated the policy of only assigning rooms 48 hours after guests have departed during this ongoing COVID pandemic. We selected a Garden View room - basically on the first floor, with not much of view except of a few wonderfully manicured rows of flowers and the parking lot beyond. The hotel has been recently renovated, so we appreciated how new our room felt. The walk-in shower was spacious, which was good because we had our squirmy 9-month old with us. The king-sized bed was really comfy, with clean linens - it gave the 3 of us great sleep! Overall, we'd definitely return to the Abbey. Be aware though - the stay was quite pricey - $515 for one night - but it was worth finally venturing outta the city for the weekend. The hotel is near other sites in Peekskill that we enjoyed visiting, so we felt we mostly got the value for what we spent. read more

We visited the Abbey Inn & Spa for cocktails and a light bite at the Apropos bar. The experience from the walls out were stunning. The constant reminders to respect the privacy of neighbors was a bit of overkill.... Our experience at the bar took a bit of a surprising turn. Every associate has an opportunity to make a lasting impression- great, good, fair or poor. As we arrived at the bar there was an example of my # 1 pet peeve- A disagreement among associates in front of customers... The argument was over the supply of bar glasses. These discussions need to be in private, not in front of customers! The casualness of the bartender was something that you would expect in a sports bar experience, something like a Buffalo Wild Wings. Now I understand that it is difficult to find quality hospitality staff - especially now and it may be even tougher in a location such as Peekskill- but that is no excuse. If this establishment is aiming for the top of the market you cannot have an associate like this, and she has been there for several years. The food at the bar was fine- Caesar salad was average, the pasta dish was very good, the mussels were small and shriveled. The bread and butter was exceptional. The cocktails were overall good. The decor of the restaurant was kind of bland and uninspiring. I know that the main aspects of this business are the 42 guestrooms, events, and the spa. I went to The Abbey Inn & Spa and was utterly blown away. The grounds are spectacular and service to match. We were fortunate to meet Joe, the bartender who luckily is a historian. Joe shared the history of The Abbey and the well appointed gardens, private dinner location, chapel and the bar which used to be mother superior's office. The Abbey apparently was Episcopalian and not catholic. The view of the Hudson is stunning but it was the buildings, and gardens for that brought this place to the 5 star level. This boutique hotel is the perfect place for a staycation outside of NYC. The grounds are small, but very aesthetically pleasing with all of their landscaping and river views. The staff was also super friendly and the hotel rooms are big and clean. The service here was fantastic and worth the price. We utilized the amenities and booked massages at the spa. The spa was also very clean and the staff was very professional. The restaurant in the hotel, Apropos, was also delicious. They were true to their farm to table word and offered all locally sourced veggies, fish, and proteins. The portions were big and the food was delicious! The charm of this hotel makes you feel like you're in Europe. Since this was an old convent , there is still a lot of gothic architecture with a cathedral feel. We had the most luxurious and beautiful overnight and spa and The Abbey Inn and Spa in Peekskill this weekend. We stayed in a magnificent suite overlooking the Hudson River ... gorgeous sitting room , bedroom (best night's sleep ) and bathroom ...and were welcomed most graciously with wine and a charcuterie board . We then proceeded to the magnificent bar where we toasted with drinks prepared by a wonderful bartender ( great staff all around ... amazing service !) ... and then a delicious dinner at #aproposrestaurant ... and were so thrilled that the wonderful Peter Kelly is now at this location ... and there to greet us ! The following morning, after a delicious , healthy breakfast was time for the spa and my massage and Bonnie Rozales facial were an absolute delight . Irene and Martin Ginsburg have once again highlighted the gorgeous and beloved Hudson River with wonderful art , the most beautiful setting and luxurious opportunity to relax with dining , spa and beauty in every way . I've been a patron here for several years - they've changed their Chef a few times and recently underwent new management. I had booked my daughter's bridal shower prior to this change so it was a bit chaotic with new people taking over. I purposely met with the new person 3 times prior to the actual shower to ensure the details were in place. Overall, it went well but there were a few things coming out of this I would share. I specifically reviewed the menu and handpicked the wines to be served - day of shower none of the wine choices were there - half opened bottles were out and none were even the type of wine I had chosen. I wanted the wines to pair well with the menu so this was disappointing. Food was good - as far as waitstaff they were okay - I did get feedback from a few guests who mentioned rudeness from one of them. The person I coordinated the shower with was great - always answered questions so I feel it's the food service/catering area that needs some work. I left a gold necklace that was a family heirloom on the nightstand of my room after checking out. I realized within an hour after leaving and called immediately. Call 1 - spoke with the general manager. Described where it was and that it was very important to me. He said he would check immediately and call back. No call back over next 90 mins. Call 2 - spoke with front desk manager. Described the situation. She said she would have the GM call back immediately. No call received for next several hours. Call 3 - finally someone new on shift at the front desk and she was helpful and actually checked. She said that it wasnt there and that she asked the GM who said that he didn't find it (thanks for letting me know). It was obviously stolen by someone who had access to the room. My mistake for leaving it but would expect better guest services from a high end hotel. Extremely disappointed with the entire situation. read more

What a disappointing place. The building is absolutely stunning the views are gorgeous probably from most rooms but not from ours. Going through the town of Peekskill was like going to a Third World country where you needed a passport. Arrival was OK we handled it fine no one asked to help us at all. The front desk personnel didn't even make eye contact. We got to our disappointing room which reminded me of a convent or a monastery. The room was very cold no matter how we adjusted the thermostat we couldn't get comfortable. My daughter and my two grandsons couldn't get anything to eat for lunch and they were starving. They went to the bar and asked if they could get a sandwich or hamburger and they said no there's no lunch. The chef happened to be walking by and offered to help so my daughter ordered hamburgers and french fries for two gigantic, hungry boys. The chef came back out with one hamburger and no french fries. My daughter gave the chef and the bartender a piece of her mind regarding the so-called five star hotel and Michelin star restaurant. Then we went to the spa and my daughter could not get an appointment and we were sharing the experience because it was our mutual birthday. So I had my massage by myself. It was OK the bathrobes were comfy the slippers were something you get in the hospital. I was given a gift bag for my birthday along with an extra one for my daughter's birthday because she couldn't get a reservation for her massage. We went to the room and opened the gift bags and they were tiny little jars of cream inside when we opened the jars one was half empty and the other one was hard as a rock . We threw them right in the trash. What an insult. That was supposed to be a gift bag. So the weekend continued to decline with dinner. The food was terrible. I ordered linguine and clam sauce and I had a handful of dead clams in my meal which I returned to the waitress. I couldn't even imagine anyone in their right mind serving anyone a dish with dead clams. My replacement dinner was clams that had to be at least three or four days old, rubbery, overcooked , reheated probably a few times they were gross. It was such a disappointment we didn't even bother ordering dessert so we didn't get to have a birthday dessert. My two grandsons were extremely bored and weren't happy about the gym being in another building so since they are older they hopped the train back to the city. They were so relieved to get out of there and I don't blame them. Only two people were friendly at this place the head concierge and the parking attendant. I do not recommend this place I will never go back and I feel very badly about the amount of money spent for the poor service and the terrible food. Don't waste your time or your money. I recently stayed for one night. While the employees at check in were lovely, the grounds and views beautiful and food delicious, The Spa was a disappointment. The entrance is a metal door which resembles a service entrance, or right off the elevator if staying the night. Once in you are right at check-in counter. You are sent to a small uninviting "locker room" Once you put on your robe and flip flops, you are instructed to go back in hallway to front desk, which you are then led to the waiting area. The waiting area is a bit bright, had no relaxing music playing and the front desk conversations could be heard.. after asking, the music was put on.. the massage itself was a good one, but on the whole, not the relaxing spa experience that was expected. So, if you go, go for the Inn itself. There is not much to walk to in the immediate area. read more

This was One of the most beautiful properties and most accommodating staff I have ever encountered in all my travels! The rooms are newly renovated and beautiful. Every fixture is perfectly picked to match the rooms theme. State of the art technology, huge flat screens, Wireless chargers in the bedside lamps. Cold drawer fridge. I was there to celebrate my birthday, I was treated with a lovely welcome card and cupcakes! I also got beautiful glass coasters to go home with. I can't say enough about how lovely the staff was. We enjoyed wine by the gorgeous fire pit. I can't wait to come back when the spa is open!! The restaurant wasn't open to eat in but they brought the food to the room in a lovely reusable tote bag! TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Unfortunately our experience while visiting the Abbey Inn & Spa was a terrible one. In particular, our negative experience was due to the lack of honesty, professionalism and poor customer experience received from the General Manager Garret Corcoran. He is dishonest, rude and not the right person to be managing an establishment where guests are hoping to receive a positive customer experience. We booked our accomodations including spa treatments 2 weeks in advance and although receiving confirmations somehow the spa managed to accidently cancel all of them. What we hoped to be a relaxing and peaceful weekend getaway turned out to be the exact opposite. The Spa Staff promised to comp some of our spa treatments due to our inconvemience and then later the Spa Director Renee lied about it to us. To make matters worse the General Manager Garret Corcoran handled the situation terribly. We decided to leave the establishment 2 days early as we did not feel comfortable giving them our business. We would never return to this hotel and give them a poor rating. read more

Ours overlooked the Hudson which was beautiful. We also got massages while there and they were amazing. The spa is very nice and relaxing. Wish we could've stayed another night! The only pause for not 5 stars is there is a lot of noise - trains, elevators, etc. We didn't find it that bothersome but it was noticeable. This review is specifically of the spa. My husband and I are local to Westchester and decided to visit the spa at Abbey Inn for a relaxing afternoon after a tumultuous 2 years planning and replanning our wedding due to Covid. We visited on Oct. 2, 2021, and got the Couples' Signature Massage with hot stones. Somehow, after our service, my husband ended up with a giant, stone-sized blister on his back where a stone was placed during the massage. We were curious as to how this happened since I didn't end up with a blister on my back, even though we got the same service, so I reached out to the spa on Oct. 9 via the form on the Abbey Inn's website to try and figure it out. I didn't get a response, so I called them on Oct. 16 and the assistant spa manager told me that they never got the message but chatted with me about our experience and said she'd get back to me in a few days. During this time, the affected area became infected and has since required that my husband to see several doctors, take several antibiotics and use several ointments in the hopes that the area will heal properly. I then emailed the spa a brief timeline of what happened and was hoping to get some answers on how this blister could have appeared, but instead our next communications came from the Inn's insurance company gathering information and immediately preemptively denying any claim we would bring against the spa, even though we never made any indication that we were interested in doing that. Since then, I have not been able to get an answer from the spa via email which I find profoundly disappointing. We are still dealing with this issue as of today, Nov. 14. I reached out originally to try and figure out how this could have possibly happened, not to try and sue or file any official claim against the spa. Since we have not heard from the spa directly over the last few weeks, my husband and I have felt like the spa considered us a liability and didn't want to communicate with us vs. clients who had a weird experience and who are trying to get some answers. Given how everything has played out over the last month, I can say that my husband and I will not return to the spa nor will we recommend it to our many friends and family in the area. Not because of the injury he sustained and is still dealing with 1.5 months later, but by how this has been handled by the spa since it happened. read more

While the grounds and building are stunning, I was disappointed with the spa. The men's locker room was not representative of the "best new" or "premier" marketing monikers presented on their website. And it certainly did not live up to expectations given the premium pricing for a treatment. Frankly, it ruined the overall experience for me. I returned from my treatment to find two large puddles on the floor. Upon exiting the sauna and preparing for a shower, I came to realize that the single towel provided to me was suitable for a stay at a budget hotel, not an upscale spa, and there were no addional towels available in the locker room. Persevering through this, post-shower I came to realize that I had forgotten or misplaced my comb. Normally not an issue at an upscale spa, but I rounded the corner to the sink area to now discover absolutely zero amenties - no combs, hair dryer, deodorant, etc. At checkout, the assistant manager did the politically correct thing - she ignored my toweled but uncombed hair and asked me if I enjoyed my massage. Do yourself a favor - look at the other negative reviews on this site, which also seem to focus on the spa, and ask yourself before booking if you want to pay premium pricing for a cut-rate experience. Hoping that the hotel management addresses this when they begin to realize that the spa is a revenue underperformer. read more

This is for both the hotel and restaurant. I would rather rate this 0 stars but unfortunately Yelp doesn't allow that. Anyway ..... Probably the worst experience I've ever had and I've been all over the world. Sorry to say it has nothing to do with COVID. Staff was rude at best. The hotel was empty when we arrived for our stay but when we tried to make a reservation for dinner we were laughed at over the phone. They said we were lucky to get a table because there were people coming from an hour away because they were so well known. When we arrived for our reservation about 15 mins later there was literally no one in the restaurant. We had a whole room to ourselves. If you're unfortunate enough to stay here go to the tapas restaurant downtown. Way better service and food. Don't even ask about the bar. We were turned away even though it was 8:00 on a Friday night and there were other patrons at the bar. Well maybe they'd at least offer coffee in the am? Nope. Had to go to Dunkin' Donuts. I didn't go to the spa but that looked pathetic as well. Save yourself and your money and don't even think about visiting or dining here. You Will be disappointed. read more

Not very impressed. Bar staff were great. As for the menu. Crispy chicken was not crispy, just baked chicken. Westchester Radish, what is that? Never heard of this variety of radish. Menu is nothing special. Not sure it was farm to table as they claim. Burger is overpriced, nothing special about. What the heck you have to pay for bread when you order a dinner entree. In 40 years of dining out I have never paid for a basket of bread. I was expecting to be awed. Well that did not happen. Not a good BOH and FOH relationship. Overheard the staff complaining about the Chef. Leave your ego at the door and start producing high quality food. Oh the view is great of the Hudson River. read more

We actually just held our daughter's wedding here, and used 5 rooms. The architecture and gardens are absolutely stunning. The food is amazing, filet mignon, branzino, etc. The rooms are beautiful. The people who work there are friendly and helpful. They even did the entire wedding gluten-free. We loved everything about The Abbey. - We had the ceremony in the Cornerstone room, photos outdoors overlooking the Hudson, cocktail hour on The Bluff, the reception in the Highlands ballroom, the rehearsal dinner in the Grand Terrace, and the farewell breakfast in the Hudson room. The couple stayed in the bridal suite, which included a separate sitting room and a large balcony. All rooms were beautiful. Everyone especially loved the Cornerstone room, which is hand-painted with Latin words and saints. The Highlands ballroom looks like a castle. - The entire wedding was gluten-free, which is difficult, but they were very accommodating to our needs. They also were careful of other special diets. - We also had a handicap-accessible room for grandparents, and it was the most beautiful handicap room anyone had ever seen. It had a large balcony with table and rocking chairs, walk-in shower, and low bed. - The people there were very helpful. At breakfast, a waitress told our guests the history of the hand-painted cornerstone room. It was painted by a nun, who continued painting until she was 89. The room was restored several years ago, and restored by hand. A man who helped set up the ballroom told us the history of the hotel and the ballroom also. It was built in 1872 and was an abbey for 100 years. It was meticulously restored from about 2017-2020, and opened in March 2020 - right at the start of covid. Everyone seems to really love the place. The wedding & events specialist worked closely with us, and was by our side throughout the weekend. - Even if you are just going there for a weekend, lunch, or dinner, this is a fabulous place. It even has a happy hour with burgers, ricotta toast, and half-price drinks. It is such a beautiful place, it truly looks like a European castle, or Abbey. It is a gem in New York. read more
