We walked into a room that hit us with a stench of smoke and must. Only two nights there, but we had to wash every single piece of clothing we packed, just to get the *essence of smoke* out of them. As for the non-smoking promise? Ha! That didn't matter when a tribe of chain smokers had set up camp right outside our "sealed shut" window, puffing away like they were auditioning for a cigarette commercial. By the time we went to bed, I had to cover my head with a sheet just to breathe the *clean* air. Not the relaxing vacation I had in mind! Now, the lighting situation was *something else*. Picture two table lamps with bulbs that looked like they were tired from working too hard. The light they gave off could have been described as "dull yellow, slightly depressed." Oh, and the lampshades? Cracked, of course. The dressers were so crooked, I started thinking they were designed by a funhouse architect. Naturally, I never bothered to unpack--why ruin a perfectly good suitcase with all that chaos? Now, let's talk mattresses: *rock hard*. Not in the "firm, good for your back" way, but in the "you're going to wake up feeling like you've been in a wrestling match with a concrete slab" way. And every time I moved, I half expected the wooden bed frame to just give up and collapse like it was the end of a bad reality show. Onto the bathroom. The lighting? Fantastic. Everything else? Place is 100% noise. Between the trains running all night, cars on the highway, footsteps from the room above, and people walking by, I got in bed around 11pm and slept none at all. Forgive me for being cranky but I would have slept better in my car. The ceilings are disgusting as well. Cracks in the main area ceiling, the bathroom has an office tile ceiling with holes in it, discolored, and random things hanging from spider webs. They even forgot to add a lamp so the room is dark. To top it off, there weren't any outlets in the room so I had to move the dresser and unplug a lamp (dresser is beat half to death by the way). If you don't have an issue sleeping through noise, and aesthetics don't bother you, I recommend the place. The king size bed was pretty comfortable and $111 for a night isn't bad. They did clean most of the room very well (including the bathroom). I was born and raised in Washington DC so noise isn't a problem normally...nor are cheap walls...but this place aint what they said it was online. read more

The expression of getting what you pay for is a little exhausted when you're still dropping $200 on a room at this motel. The largest positive was that the rooms were clean. That's important to note. That may be due to the aggressive cleaning staff who barged into my room without even knocking at 8:30am and then again at 9am. Check out was at 11am so it was certainly early. Plus, our door didn't have any inside safety lock, such as a latch or chain. The common spaces they tout were not up to par. The lobby of the check in building was fine enough, but the tables and chair outside were not accessible and filthy. The shower pressure my almost non-existent. I will say that the bed was comfortable. So that and the cleanliness of the bathroom room is what bumps my rating to 2 stars. read more

The room was disgusting. Cobwebs and spiders in the corners, ashes in the drawer (which tracks, because the second you open the door you get hit with the smell of weed), and a floor spot that I'm just going to keep telling myself was dried-up ketchup. The beds were stiff, uneven, and honestly felt like they've been there since the 1960s. The only thing this place has going for it is the view; and even that doesn't come close to making up for the rest of it. For nearly $200 a night, I expected at least a clean room and a decent night's sleep. Instead, I got the complete opposite. What really sealed it for me was that I have never stayed at a hotel where the concierge didn't even bother to ask how my stay was... until now. Occasions have brought me to Peekskill infrequently in recent decades and this Inn's location is very convenient. Let me note, I last stayed here in 2004. However, I have noted that while run down ~20 years ago it is evident that today no money is put into maintenance and the property is pretty much being held together with spit and glue. Truly tragic as back in the 1950s and 1960s, though a true motor inn, this was considered a fine motel and it featured a very nice restaurant that was considered a destination, offered comfortable lodging, and had a well maintained pool. You arrive and immediately note the paint peeking off the weather beaten buildings and the plethora of once white rusting wrought iron. The rooms are small; mine had no desk or chair. While no coffee maker I did have a microwave (?) and a small refrigerator that serenaded me all night (along with the train, street noise, and the incessant window air conditioner attempting to work its heart out.) My room had a thin mattress double bed, exceedingly worn, chipped, cheap end tables -- one lamp and it's outlet didn't work -- and a cable wall cover lying on the floor with the open wall behind it. The floors, fortunately are pergo, not wall to wall carpet so I was a tad less skeeved out. The window blind was literally shredded; it was like a bad joke. Finding myself on the second floor, there was no elevator -- the entire property is not ADA compliant, and narrow brick stairs with indifferently maintained mortar that weren't easy to haul suitcases up. Fun times. The lounge is long closed; not sure about the pool. The view is okay, but the nuclear power plant is the focal point, though the river and mountains are gorgeous from this vantage point. Two friends were staying in other rooms (one was afraid to call the front desk as the phone receiver in her room was filthy) so we decided to sit out on the veranda and split a bottle of wine we'd brought. I then noted that every trash receptacle outside the rooms was overflowing with mature unemptied trash. As we sat outside other guests chain smoked; no area has been designated as a smoking area and we couldn't get away from the smoke (of course we then noted the many ground out cigarette butts in the parking lot.) My small bathroom had been updated with the cheapest possible sink, toilet, and tub shower insert, but since I was only there for the night I thought better of showering there as I only live two hours away -- I didn't want to push my luck, though the towels were clean. Imagine the cheapest, crappiest motel you see along scarcely traveled once busy roads and you are at the Inn on the Hudson. Btw, I paid $210 for the night (granted it was Labor Day weekend.) I know Peekskill is technically in Westchester County, but this is the butt part of it and the price is highway robbery. It's clear some outside private equity company has bought this as well as similar properties and is milking it and not putting a dime into maintaining it. While driving in this area is challenging at night I'd strongly recommend staying in Tarrytown, or up in Fishkill/Wappingers where there are quality properties rather than make this mistake. Family stayed here last night to attend a wedding at the Abbey for my niece. They stayed here to avoid paying the ridiculous prices the Abbey charges per night but ended up regretting it. Immediately upon arrival they heard the sounds of rats in the walls. Sure enough they attended the wedding and when they returned to the hotel the rats had gotten into the food that they had in the luggage and scattered as they opened the door. Disgusting place. The customers in the next room also found a hole in one of the cabinets that had a rat trap in it. Everyone that stayed there complained about the rats. Sister stayed here many years ago for her wedding and while the place certainly wasn't the Ritz, it wasn't over run with rats. Get ur shit together. read more

Jaime is by far the nicest employee this place has. Everyone else was rude and very short with the responses if you had questions or requests. Jaime was sweet enough to book me in her favorite room on the property which ended up being the most lovely place to sit and watch the sunrise and the most beautiful view of the Hudson River. If I go back and stay there it's purely because of her exceptional customer service. The only complaint that I have is that the bed was absolutely uncomfortable. It felt so old and worn out that every day the pain was more and more and more until literally the last night that I slept there, I decided to sleep on the little couch which was not that much more comfortable. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. It's taken me a few weeks to post this review because it's terrifying to think of reliving it! We were headed to town from the Midwest for my uncles celebration of life. We booked this hotel for around $260 a night; Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This was my first time traveling since COVID, so I wanted to confirm they had proper cleaning protocols. The night before arrival, I called to ask about their cleaning procedures and the woman at the front desk kept telling me she couldn't find our reservation (Lie) (which is a common thing at this hotel by the way - read through the reviews). She was asking for a confirmation of the reservation, however the hotel doesn't supply a confirmation number. She said she was worried that I was fraudulent (seriously). All I wanted to understand was the hotel cleaning procedures and if the bad reviews I was reading online were true (unsafe, dirty, not covid safe). So pretend I'm not staying there, but thinking of staying there and provide some general information about the hotel. After arguing for 20 minutes, she finally told me we could see the room before we officially "check-in" (lie). That was basically the only thing I could get out of her. I did ask if she was going to be there tomorrow and she said no. (Lie) Guess who checks us in? Yup, the same lady! And she tells me that we aren't allowed to see the room before we check-in (lie). I remind her again of our conversation. She denies it and then finally agrees to let us see the room. On top of terrible customer service and a dirty facility there was also a very sketchy crowd of people around the hotel. My gut was telling me to get the heck out of there but I was trying to make it work. We go to view our room and the lock is broken - exactly what I was reading in the reviews and tried to confirm the night before. I tell her we don't feel comfortable staying in a room that had a broken lock especially with the sketchy crowd. We then got moved to another room, which was just as disgusting but luckily the lock worked (for now at least). Filthy, stinky and NOT COVID COMPLIANT. I've never felt so disgusted in my life. Bed stains, bugs all over the room, layers of dust and mold surrounding the shower. I will jump to the end of the stay or else this will turn into a novel. Friday around 3, we have a drink around the unfilled pool (that they will tell people is open but it's been closed - lies again) and then we head back to the room before dinner. BUT WAIT, we are physically locked out of our own room somehow. I go to the front desk to tell her and she tries endlessly to get us in but can't. It seems the lock itself is busted. Seriously? Finally, we seek another stayer who is more muscular and he is finally able to bust through the door after like 20 minutes (this was after we tried along with the front desk). Another BROKEN lock? I tell the woman at the front desk for the second time, we don't feel safe staying in a room that doesn't lock especially because of past reviewers complaining about break-ins. She brings us to another room on the upper level which has no blinds so you can see right into the room? Nope, I'm done. I tell her we want a refund and we plan to find a hotel that operates with integrity. The general manager (as you can see from past reviewers is never available/present) and will try to intimate you if you ask for a refund. We had to tell them that we were going to call the police if they didnt refund us. So do yourself a big FAVOR and don't even consider booking a stay here. I've literally never witnessed anything like this before and I've traveled a-lot. How is a hotel able to operate with such poor standards and no care for guests safety? Let's start with the positives. The view of the nuclear plant was exquisite, and the pool that was locked up was crystal clear and looked like it would be really nice to swim in. And both counter folks we interacted with were quite pleasant. On the flip side... - rooms were horribly dated. Like 1950's Route 66 dated - sheets has what looked like knife cuts in them - pillows were pretty much unusable. I used a Tshirt stuffed with a towel. A towel that was obviously from a sandpaper lot at Home Desperate. - the train, the train. All night long, with a whistle as it passed thru - the main light switch shut off most of the outlets (love to meet that electrician), so we awoke to dead cell phones - probably not an issue given the above, but 2 of the lamps didn't work anyways - and, the kicker, the 4am maniac pounding on the adjacent room door screaming at the inhabitant to come out (not blaming the motel for that one) Honestly, could be a really nice getaway place with some basic maintenance and a little TLC. The village is really on the rebound; get on with it motel!!! read more

I will never return or recommend this place to anyone..we got there and the view was great of the Hudson river..we were greeted by a gentleman who we thought was maintenance, but turns out while he ate his sandwich he waited for the ambulance ..the Manager, Brian, was very pleasant at check in. We were given a room on the 2nd floor..now the issues start..we parked and carried our suit cases up to second floor only to walk out to a back parking lot, we were not told that the parking lot went around to the back .we walked into a marijuana smelling room which they knew as windows were wide open..the iron well not there just a bracket for it..needed paint and the worse was the copious amount of wires hanging from an ext cord..room itself seemed clean..then I got out and find a huge barrel of trash over flowing placed in front of the room..the multiple rat traps that were in front of our room clarified we were leaving..I went to Brian and to his credit tried to move is and when I said no immediately offered us a refund. We later spoke to someone that hd stayed and she left due to the mice running about her room and other sketchy behaviors next door read more

I was in love with the photos of this place on line so I booked a room lol ..Went through AARP was given an option of 11 am check in ..I took it booked 2 months in advanced .. Called 2 weeks before to make sure we were all set ,I was told yes .. WHAT A JOKE ..Not only was there no 11 am check in availability.But the Nasty attitude of the Spanish / Mexican women at the front desk was Unacceptable.. I've travelled extensively and expectations are high when visiting a major city and paying 5 star prices. Bathroom sink did not drain and We could not brush our teeth or shave...had to use bathtub. Could NOT shower, the shower diverter did not work. Found dead bugs in the bathroom. They DO NOT have breakfast. You will be kept awake at regular intervals by the whistle of train passing by and the by turning on and off every few minutes of the A/C/heating unit located below the window about 3 feet from your head. This place could really be a neat place and looks like they are trying to update rooms with only a paint job. Too bad because the place has potential. The first thing I noticed were the wood floors. I was very happy there was not gross, dingy hotel carpet. Bathrooms are still dated, shelving and blow dryer falling off the wall. Shower door came off tracks and after 10 minutes of messing with it I finally got back in the tracks. Some outlets do not work and light bulbs burnt out. Small closet with a microwave and very small fridge/ freezer. The bed is very squeaky and mattress definitely not plush but I slept okay. The blankets are very thin but it is Aug. The AC worked very good. Loved the big front porches, more chairs on lower level would be nice. I usually sat on the patio around the closed up pool. I'm sure they are using every excuse not to open it. There is a very pretty canopy tree with seating under it as well. If the property was manicured there would be better views of the Hudson, but obviously they don't care about the view. Too bad once again, so much potential. Yes, there is noise from the train, down below, that runs along the Hudson! To be expected anywhere you stay in this area so I am very confused about some of the comments complaining about the train! It's upstate NY! And yes, there is traffic noise from Route 9 that also runs below hotel. There is always hot coffee in the lobby but don't forget your mask and you have to ring the bell to get in the office area. They also offer a bagged breakfast. I do like the little town area and park below the hill. It is about 1/2 mile walk down hill. Good restaurants, ice cream shop and amazing bakery. It's also a short walk into town the other way for more great restaurants and a awesome smoothy shop! Most of the staff was very polite and helpful. I would stay here again, forgo the luxury because the price is good. I only have one complaint, the one Asian woman that checked me in and I saw her one other time on Sunday, I found her rude and not very welcoming. Not someone I would have greeting my customers. The hotel's website promoted a VERY different property than the reality. Instead of On-demand movies and HD TV, we enjoyed a blurry picture on a nice sized screen with basic cable. Train horns and sirens all night long while we slept on a rock hard mattress simply added to our experience. Breakfast is basically convenience store packaged muffins and plain coffee, There is abundant mildew in the bathtub, a thick layer of grime above the shower door, and very large insects in the parking lot. We were also greeted by some hard-drinking day laborers as we checked in last night, adding to our overall sense of unease. Yes, some rooms (not ours) have AMAZING views. This inn is not worth the money at all. Everything in the room feels like more than 100 years old. The room and the bathroom are both small and the sealant of the shower and bath tub is dirty. The whole bedding set is pilling everywhere. I even found hairs on the sheet. I don't have the view that most of the reviewers admire. The view I have is 4 dumpsters and garbages. The smell of cigarettes in the room was so strong that I couldn't stay. I checked out a few hours after check in, in opened the windows and waited to see if the smell improved but it didn't, it was nauseating. Their customer service was poor and they simply told me they wouldn't refund any portion on my stay because I didn't leave within 5 minutes. The desk person told me that all the carpeted rooms smell like that even through they say non-smoking rooms. My husband and I found this day of. We stayed in rm 1, a corner room above the office with a great view of the Hudson. It was downhill from there. The descriptions of the rooms are possibly of days from very long past. They don't match anything about the room we had (king). The sheets were very old, worn and scratchy with a red, old blanket in between two sheets. I would have left but this was last minute. The doors to the bathroom vanity were literally falling off which i didn't notice at first. It was all I could do to stay there. When I asked at booking, I was told that restaurants were just down the block. The town is very rundown and we couldn't find anywhere we would eat dinner and chose McDonalds. Not at all what we had planned for our evening. At least it was a known commodity. We left first thing in the morning, much earlier than we would have. I suggest looking at the 360 views of the town. We got a good photo of us on the balcony overlooking the Hudson. Think twice before booking. Look, don't listen to the PR. At the very very least they could get fresh and clean bedding. DO NOT COME HERE. The most horrendous stay I've had anywhere. The only thing good about here was the view and courtyard. I booked a month in advance and the room was NOT CLEANED before we got there. The room was musty, there were dead insects and dust everywhere, mold in the bathroom. The sheets were not clean, NONE of the towels in the room were clean as they had stains and hair (had to re-request those). They could not provide someone to clean the room nor could they provide cleaning products for our use at the front desk. The bed was super noisy and the head board was in terrible condition it looked like it was picked up on the side of the road. The sink kept backing up and the blow dryer set off the fire alarm for the entire floor. The next day housekeeping refused to clean the room, someone else's smoke detector went off and set off the alarm for whole floor. No AAA discount was actually applied to the room and the bed in the room was a FULL size when they charged me for a QUEEN room. Additionally they charged me two different rates per night for the same exact room. The front desk wrote notes and made "calls" that nobody was actually receiving. Again, DO NOT come here. If I could give 0 stars, I would. First off, the rooms are small, my lock was broken, and it reeked of pee. I also noticed that my room was not vacuumed, as there was dog hair all over the floor and long black hair, which is certainly not mine because I am blonde. The bed was hard and stiff, it squeaked with every move. My toilet didn't flush, and when I notified the woman at the front desk of this issue, she informed me that everyone had already gone home for the day. I asked her what I should do and she told me she'd call me back. As I waited 20 minutes for her to call me back... that's when I discovered the large, hard, green booger on the wall. I called her immediately and requested a different room. The room was larger, this one didn't smell of pee, but as I approached the window to close the blinds, I noticed a flood coming from the air conditioner. I went back to the front desk and brought her back to the room to show her and asked for a refund, which she did with no problem. I took my business elsewhere. This place clearly does not follow regular cleaning guidelines, let alone Covid cleaning guidelines. I am a medical professional who travels for work. My agency booked my stay here for my most recent assignment. After a long day of travel from CA I arrived at the Inn thinking I would be able to relax before my shift the next day. As most people who travel for work know, businesses have business cards, which is what my agency uses to book all my accommodations (including rental cars, flights, hotels, etc). I have never in my life experienced what I experienced here. My agency had booked through an entire month, my agency sent all the proper paperwork to the Inn and even confirmed it with a woman named Amber. When I arrived there however I was told that I would not be able to have the room because the credit card *company card* on file did not match my personal photo ID. Of course it doesn't, it's a company card through my job. After almost an hour of going back and forth with my travel liaison and the woman at the front desk, they still would not confirm me for my full stay. I have been doing assignments like these for much of the year and businesses usually appreciate working with other businesses because they are reliable. My photo ID matches the name of the person who the room is booked to, it is just paid for via my job. Their computer system must be outdated as well as all the forms they requested be sent were already sent the day before and none of the emails came through. I was also told that the woman who okayed my stay at the site, amber, had only been there a month so they didn't trust her to make that decision. They did offer to let me stay one night, but after the treatment we received we were not going to give them any money at all.. there was also an older woman at the front desk as well who kept saying things alluding to me being fraudulent which was extremely rude as well as I was standing right there.. Needless to say, my agency and I have been so turned off by this Inn just based off the treatment we received by staff at the front desk that they have now lost out of many thousands of dollars of guaranteed income and a quiet guest as well through the end of the year. Which, based on the other reviews and overall star rating, is not something they should be taking lightly. This place was fine if you're not in need of anything fancy. Staff was very polite, and the proximity to the train station and hiking were all we needed for a quick overnight stay while traveling between NYC and upstate. The view is beautiful, but again, it is very close to the train line. Closing our windows and turning on the air helped, and they offer ear plugs. But our room was clean, bed was creaky but also fine. The complimentary breakfast is just some yogurt, OJ, Nutrigrain bar, and water, but that's more than what most hotels offer anymore! Clearly this place's heyday was long ago, and don't plan your honeymoon here or anything like that, but if you just need an affordable place to rest your head, it's suitable. read more

We stayed there two years ago and had great experiences. We came back last weekend and were very disappointed. It was in a rough condition, restaurant was closed, pool was covered, landscape wasn't maintained, there was trash in the grass. We walked the Main Street and it felt unsafe too. Room 41 with the balcony view. -- immediately smells of cigarettes although advertised non-smoking (suspect people smoke on the balcony), and the room is non-carpeted. Paint chips everywhere. Shower head crusted with the pressure WAY to strong, it could actually really hurt someone if it happened to shoot into their ear. Showering was very uncomfortable, as the shower head could not be adjusted. Water gets everywhere because of how strong the showerhead stream is. Ceiling vent in the bathroom also does not work and it fogs up a ton. Blankets are very thin and look very old. Desk legs extremely wobbly. Light on balcony shines through the blinds and is annoying when sleeping at night. AC does not have temperature control which, given the fact that the blankets are thin, means you'll either be freezing in the cold of the AC or sweltering in the heat of the summer night. read more
