My daughter and I dined here yesterday for Valentine's Day. We didn't have a reservation and the place was super busy. Max, the owner (I believe that's his name) was super accommodating and told us not to worry that he would get us seated and sat us at the bar which I understood no reservation busy night, this was perfect! Our entrées took over an hour close to two hours to come out, but the owner kept checking up on us apologizing for the delay I explained to him we were OK. We knew the situation. It was a busy night. The acknowledgment and the attention goes along way plus they brought us some bread which was super delicious! And the food was definitely worth the wait! I had the lobster ravioli, which was a very generous portion, and my daughter had the Alfredo pasta, which was very tasty! The answer: Arrivederci Trattoria at 4221 E. Chandler Boulevard in Ahwatukee. The owner (Max), the manager (Jamie) and the staff were amazing. Max helped us plan the menu, and then followed up with us from his vacation in Europe to make sure everything was in place. We went to Arrivederci originally with a Groupon, and it was fantastic. Food was excellent. However, going back as a return customer, we sit down and the first thing the bartender says (very rudely) 'are you using another Groupon? Or are you paying full price this time?' Thinking that was very forward and inappropriate, we decided to leave. Unfortunately, we won't return. Really too bad, we thought we had found a nice local place. Got a Groupon and went on weeknight. My husband and I shared a Divine Caesar salad and the cannelloni di carne. Didn't love the salad and it was a little overpriced. The bread they brought before the meal was really good! Served with olive oil and balsamic. The entree was really good I was surprised it was ground meat but it was still good. Would have been soo much better if it were shredded meat. The waitress we had wasn't very nice, she was also a bartender. A man who we assumed to be the owner was soo nice, he would go to all the tables and check on everyone, greet everyone as they would enter and exit, brought us our food as he saw it was ready so we would get it while it was hot, was making drinks. Our family of four went for my Mother's Day dinner. The food was delicious but the wait time was ridiculous and the server didn't make up for it. The manager had a couple of tables with friends and it was obvious. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get our food after ordering. They said it was because of our one gluten free order but this doesn't happen at others restaurants. Our server communicated once on the wait only because she heard us complaining. There was no offer to compensate for the ridiculous wait time for our meal. Meanwhile the tables around us received their food at a normal wait time and free bottles of wine or a round of shots. Dinner this evening, Saturday, at Arrivederci Ahwatuckee on Chandler Boulevard in Phoenix, with my girlfriend, and we were looking forward to a nice meal. However, as our entrees arrived, a waitress begin spraying the table next to ours with some noxious, toxic antiseptic, something like Lysol but worse. It killed the flavor of the food and the mood. We complained to our waitress, a nice woman, and we asked for the check for the full amount plus tip which we put on the table. The manager, who told us he was also the owner, began to yell at us. We had food in a bag to take home, and he shoved the money back as us and aggressively grabbed the bag away from us. We hadn't been belligerent at the start, but when he begin to insult us, I asked for his name. He refused to tell us (Max Sahin, apparently), and he then demanded that we leave. He was close to shoving me, standing toe to toe, and I let him know that it would be a mistake to put his hands on me. This was all because we had the effrontery to complain about the awful smell of the cleaner solution which had been sprayed all over us. The owner was huffing and puffing and behaving like the Tasmanian Devil, demanding that we leave and never come back. I'm in my seventies and I've been to thousands of restaurants around the world, and I've never been treated so disrespectfully. read more

I LOVE this restaurant. The food is always authentic and consistently amazing. They put pride in each dish and every plating. You can hear the passion in the owners voice everytime he explains the daily specials and in turn you can taste that passion in each meal. You will never find this charm, character, quality, and passion for authentic Italian food in a chain restaurant or even other Italian restaurants in the area. In my opinion this place is unparalleled in the area and it's a great place for a fancy date night or even just to stop by in flip flops and grab some great food at the bar. I had dinner here this past Saturday. We arrived early to avoid any sort of rush. I ordered the Ravioli With Wild Mushrooms and my dinner companion ordered the Penne Alla Pepe e Nero. The Ravioli was just OK. The pasta was done correctly, however, the filing was mushy and flavorless and the sauce was very watery. My companion's dish seemed a little better. He seemed to enjoy his more than I did mine. The bread was pretty good. Served with oil and balsamic. I also ordered a simple Cesar salad on the side, which was $8 and had almost no flavor. The greens were fresh, but it was not flavorful at all. All told, the service was good. The food was mediocre. The total for two dishes of pasta, one side salad and two glasses of wine was $66 before tip. I will have to continue my quest for a great Italian place in the area . read more

What a great place, a great find! The atmosphere and service was great also. The starter bread and oil was a great and delicious start. We had the Lamb shank- it was excellent and fell off the bone and was served over spaghetti, me personally would of liked a little more veggies but excellent nonetheless, we also had the cannelloni di carne and was excellent, their vodka sauce it's homemade and it was so good. For dessert we had the cheesecake and it was good but the homemade limoncello was great, we really enjoyed and look forward to going back! read more

Let me start by saying we drove 25 minutes to come here... Came in with our toddler and asked to be seated away from everyone, just in case he got cranky. Asked for a high chair, first one the seat belt was missing, so I had to ask the bartender if there was another, second one came and now we are settling in. This was one of the worst dinning experiences I have had in the Ahwatukee area. I ordered - glass of Rosé. The first glass was a deep red and turned out to be rancid. I told the bartender and she gave me another brand rosé they had which was also rancid. I just drank my water after that. Appetizer was the eggplant dish. It was ok and probably the best of what we ordered. The basic garden expensive salad was old wilted and disgusting. The cucumber was translucent it was so old. I told the bartender it was wilted and old and she claimed it was dressed too soon. No, it's old mix. Ewwww. The veal Gorgonzola was hardly any veal and what there was was covered in a "sauce" which was basically a soup. Do not get. This was horrible. At the end of the meal I showed the bartender my groupon. She marked the Groupon as used, scanned it and then cake back with the bill and claimed it was happy hour and couldn't honor it in entirety. Just the app and wine(horrible) were on happy hour. Anyhow she charged me back for the majority what the Groupon saved. If this were the case give me the opportunity to use it or not. Do not mark it used and then decide not to honor it. We will NEVER EVER go back for several reasons listed below. Look at inspections. Lots of violations and very low score Food was horrible old and unclean. Wine was rancid. Service was uncomfortable and unwelcoming. read more

Amazing! The meatball appetizer was fantastic. We requested the mild marinara sauce and the firm and meaty meatballs shined through and were perfectly complimented by the marinara sauce. Although it is not on the menu, try the chicken marsala. It is the best that I have ever had and my wife's favorite! She orders it every time! The cioppino is awesome - full of a variety of seafood and fresh fish in a very nice and mild, not too spicy, garlic marinara sauce (you must ask for the mild marinara sauce). The fettuccine alfredo is smooth and creamy without being too rich or cheesy. I added shrimp and the shrimp were large, succulent and sweet. We ordered a lasagna to go. It is a Monday night special, but the restaurant has just one left and we bought it! Meaty and sweet, it is a must try! We also ordered a tiramisu dessert to go. I ordered food through grubhub and was starving as i watched the driver in the app drive to the restaurant. Then i received a call from the owner say the grubhub driver walked in and walked out. I called the grubhub driver to say arrivederci called to tell me my order was ready and she said she was picking it up. I then watched the app again to see the driver leave and go to dutch bros.... Now im pissed. I call arrivederci to see if my food is still sitting there and tell them ill come pick it up. The owner, being amazing, said he will deliver it to me! He got to my house in under 10 minutes and politely declined the tip i handed him. Wow! Just wow! Im so happy people like him are running businesses in our neighborhood!
