If you ever find yourself thinking about moving your loved one into Red Oak Residence, take my…read moreadvice, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. The owner, "A.J." is heartless. She's all about getting her $$$$$. She doesn't really know any of the residents names. There's 1 fantastic CNA that works nights, Kris. Also, Jarod, who works in the office is really nice. My Mom was a type 2 Diabetic. Before I moved my Mom in, I asked a few questions regarding access to my Mom after hours. The "owners A.J." representative assured me that someone is, "always there" to open the locked, front door. With that, I moved my mom in. I installed 2 Ring Cameras in her 1 Bedroom apartment. It gave me good visual coverage. The first month statement seemed odd. There were charges for shower assist, dress assist, plus 24 trays of delivered food, I reviewed the camera footage. Mom had 10 food trays, NO Dress assist, and NO Shower assist. I took my concerns and the first invoice to, "A.J.". She said that her staff writes down the extra charges, and that her "BOOK KEEPER" is in charge of billing. I let her know I looked thru 100's of hours of RING footage. She did remove the extra charges. Without the RING footage, Mom would be on the hook for the over billing. The SAFETY system for the residents consist of 3, Red Pull-Strings. They're only good if they are on the toilet, or happen to collapse within reach of the wall mounted string. Almost immediately, we found it nearly impossible to get to my Mom, after hours. Many times we couldn't get in, to help her when her blood sugar dropped, leaving her weak and confused. Towards the end of her stay, to save herself, she had to stagger to the elevator, get to the first floor to let us in. Also, when the power went out, there was no generator for lights and heat, also the elevator was inoperable, leaving the non-ambulatory residents on the 2nd and 3rd floor trapped. If a fire ever occurred, OMG, a scary situation. On the move out, she charged my Mom $2,000 for full carpet, pad, and repaint. There was 1 bad bleach spot in the front room carpet. Mom hardly used the bedroom. That room was perfect. There's more I should reveal, but I hope you find this helpful.

Overall, it's been a good experience but there are so many things that make this place not worth the price tag. Pros: Location- Great spot and walkable to so much. Tenants- good people and high probability of making friends. Young professionals, dog lovers Thick walls: I rarely hear my neighbors -- very, very rare. Aesthetics: the apartments themselves look really nice Washer/dryer: in unit and actually good quality. I've had some awful laundry units in apartments but these are legit and work well. Cons: Break ins: I am not exaggerating when I say tenants are constantly getting their bikes stolen, it's a monthly occurrence at least. (Theres bike storage in the garage for tenants ) Storage in the apartment: it's crazy how much planning did not go into the actual apartment. For example: my pantry is a closet that has zero shelves....my bedroom closet didn't have a full hanger rack when I moved in. Little things that make zero sense. Some kitchens barely have a drawer for silverware. Things that you may not notice while doing a walk thru but notice once you move in. No AC or ventilation: this is common in Seattle, I get it but please pay attention to what direction your apartment faces. I face west and live in a loft. Heat rises. It is miserable hot. It can be 70 degrees outside but 78 inside because of the lack of airflow. Even with an AC unit (these help but you better keep all the shades down and keep it running ALLLL day/night - plus depending on your setup, you may have to move furniture around to use an AC unit) The complex has AC units available to rent ... it isn't even that hot yet and it's already hard to get my bedroom (upstairs) under 72 degrees by 9pm. The complex should offer free AC units with how hot these apartments get. When it's nice/window season, you may not want to open your window because of how loud the road is. Even on the 4th floor, if you leave your balcony door/windows open, you will wake up from traffic/buses/people on 24th and 65th. It's not quiet...at all. Amenities: these have gotten better but still not great compared to what you can get at other places. They have done some work on the rooftop but it's still just fine. No gym, TVs aren't great, etc. The building itself needs new carpet/fresh paint on the walls. Look at the stairwells. Yes, I'm being picky but for the price, it should look better. As a whole, these apartments are fine but overpriced for what they are. You are paying for location and a "good looking" apartment. For the price, they should come with AC units, have more amenities, and updates in the actual building. Management and maintenance are good, I haven't had any issues there. This review isn't meant to bash BPL but give future residents a heads up and an honest expectation of what it's like to live here. I wouldn't choose an East (am sun) or West (pm sun) facing loft apartment. Seriously, too hot. I bet south facing is your best bet (less busy road, no direct sun). Lofts are cute but I'd suggest a flat. Hope this helps!

The absolute BEST apartments in Belltown!…read more This place is a hidden gem. Unlike nearby condos, it doesn't really do major advertising - I actually found it while clicking on random buildings on Google Maps! The location is incredible - close to the Space Needle and bars, but just far enough to still enjoy quiet nights. Plus, the prices are VERY competitive compared to other places nearby. Oliver from the front office is incredibly friendly and helpful. I wasn't going to be able to view the available units in person, and he sent me a very well taken, detailed video of the interior. He answered all my questions and really made sure that my moves, both in and out, were extremely smooth. Maintenance was also prompt and always made sure that everything was fixed within 1-2 business days! Now for the apartment itself - it was much larger than any other options nearby, and it was really nice! The unit looked a bit old but clean and functional in the video, but I was wrong... it wasn't old at all! The apartment was MUCH newer, brighter, and more updated than I anticipated - the best kind of surprise. I rarely ever heard my neighbors, always had power, and I especially loved that I had a massive pantry in the kitchen. My balcony faced 4th Ave, which leads directly to the Space Needle. Although I couldn't see the Needle from my windows, I never had to leave my apartment for any parades - they always started at the Seattle Center and went directly on the street below. The amenities it had were really nice - from the clubhouse to the gym. Both were clean, easy to access, and very updated. I especially loved that you didn't need to pay to book the clubhouse for personal events, as it made hosting larger groups for meals a lot easier! I was truly heartbroken to leave Sidney when work relocated me to Texas. It's a wonderful complex, and I highly, HIGHLY recommend!! If I ever move back, you know where I'll be living.

My apartment faced North and had a great view of the Space Needle. It was a quiet and quaint little studio that, upon move-in, was in great condition. I rarely ever had any maintenance issues, but if I did, they were addressed accordingly and in a timely manner. The Sidney is close to so many restaurants and shops and in fact, on the first floor, is Uptown Espresso. A cute little coffee shop that I would just walk down to every morning. Super convenient! The staff is what stands out about this building the most. The Property Manager is one of the best I've ever encountered. Always helpful and happy to assist. This type of management style has obviously transferred down from the manager, as the maintenance and leasing personnel are just as friendly and helpful. Overall, a wonderful living experience!

After I pushed back with photos, inspection forms, and legal references, the charges were dropped Would I recommend this place? Only if you get a good move-in deal on a rear-facing unit (though I've heard the daycare there is noisy -- so YMMV). Be prepared to advocate for yourself, especially when moving out.

Although I'm still leaving the Seattle area (to be with family), I could picture myself here in the long term. It's a perfect mix of nice, quiet neighbors (mine are super friendly and helpful) and management that actually cares about the apartments/grounds. When my dryer broke, got example, it was replaced within [literally] days. I've also really appreciated the convenience to the U District (I work at UW). It's right off I-5, and if that's clogged up, 44th brings you through Lake Forest Park to Bothell Way. It's also nice to pay less for more (I have free parking, storage, and a sizeable apartment for less than I paid for a studio in seattle where I had to park a mile from my apartment). Although my schedule has been tricky for busing, I bussed a ton last year, which was also super convenient (we're within 5 miles of several park and rides and the streets where the 871 and 810 pick-up and drop off). The main thing that I was looking for in a place was somewhere that would take my giant dog- this place is very obviously dog friendly (there's a little dog park, poop stations, and dogs everywhere). The other dog owners are super courteous, not only in picking up after their dogs, but with walking their dogs. It also helps that the manager and maintenance person both live here and have dogs- connecting with management who also love dogs is really helpful. I really do feel super lucky that I found this place!
