Manager Brandon and Assistant Manager Jon are always professional, attentive, and quick to help with any questions. Grace and Marena in the leasing office make every interaction welcoming and easy. The maintenance team is truly outstanding -- Dan, Ikaika, Rashid, Tallen, and Bao keep the property in top shape and always respond quickly to any requests. You can tell they really care about the residents and the community. The location is unbeatable, and the amenities are fantastic. Words cannot describe how welcoming all the staff is, I'm an adult but sometimes going into tour places I still feel out of place but just the welcoming atmosphere was amazing which while looking for other apartments I can't say I always experienced. Grace was a sweetheart, so funny, made the process of looking to move easier, and the communication was always attentive, and fast. Something about filling documents out and dealing with applying for apartments has always felt stressful and most of the time felt like a back and forth x10 interaction but just after a day most of it was gone, we got approved so quick, and all our answers were answered. Regardless of how many we asked Grace was patient and never made us feel as though we asked too much. Where you live does matter but I've come to learn the apartments can be really nice, perfect location and management really does make the difference whether it's good or bad. I know Westlake Steps will feel like home and be a good place to live thanks to Grace we can relax and only worry about packing boxes. Again thank you to literally everyone here ! read more

The following is a completely honest review from my past 3 years living at Westlake Steps, and I've been waiting to write this review until after I moved out. I've lived at this property from May 2020 thru June 2023, I've watched as they transitioned from pandemic mode to normal mode, and I can honestly say that I would have done another year at this property if I wasn't leaving Seattle. I would like to note that I lived in the South building (sometimes called Marina SLU) on the 9th floor in a corner unit, so my experience may be different than others. I would also like to say before starting that in my last 2 months, the community has started to have monthly events which were very fun and a great way to meet your neighbors. I want to start with the leasing staff and first and foremost say that Cheri was with me from day one and was one of the most wonderful people I worked with. When I did have a problem, whatever it would be, she was always very quick to help me get the problem fixed. This included when my parking number was mixed-up, or when I needed a guest FOB for a friend to watch my cat while I was out of town. (And Cheri, again, thank you for the years). I also worked with Kyle, Nolan, and Brandon; and had many good interactions with all of them. The apartments are really nice and they deserve the "luxury" brand quality that we see online. My apartment was approximately 600 sq ft and I lived in it with my cat, working from home (yes it was a tight squeeze). The automatic shades were definitely one of my favorite aspects, and while this may seem weird to others, you really do open and close them more liberally than manual blinds. I wish the material was a bit thicker, and during the summer hot months I found myself still using black-out blinds to keep the apartment cooler. I will also note that the layouts do not allow for much heat flow during the summer, and I did struggle to get the bedroom to cool during the 90+ degree days. Pro tip: If you can't afford a portable AC unit, I would highly recommend investing in a box fan and pointing the fan so the air blows out the window (note, this blows the hot air out of your apartment and works better than trying to blow the cool air in). Just keep the other window open so there's cool air coming in. I would also use the oven fan and bathroom fan to pull air out of the apartment and that worked very well. The apartment complex was also very nice. They have a package room in the main building, and also a locker system you can register for in both buildings (I recommend registering). I used the weight room for a good while and it had all the general equipment you would need for an average person's work-out. And if you want something more, there's a gym just down the street. The bowling alley I never got a chance to use, but it was very nice. And the 3 community rooms were really nice (and also excellent for escaping the heat during those hot summer days). There's also a dog-run on each of the building's roofs, and several outdoor spaces with grills, TVs, and some games if you want to chill with friends. And again, the apartment is very well located. Need a bus to get downtown? There's 1 right outside the property door and 3 more within walking distance. Want to go enjoy South Lake Union or the local parks? A short 10 minute walk and you'll be there. Seriously, one of the best things about this property is the location. The property has hired security, and I spoke with them on more than one occasion. Very polite and they can be seen walking the grounds at all times. The only things I found annoying with the apartment was that people tended to let their animals go to the bathroom in the elevators. This was typically cleaned-up very quickly, but I would have appreciated an email from the property because it was annoying none-the-less. (Also, this complaint seems to be with every pet-friendly property in Seattle, and I'd like to repeat that these were typically cleaned up very quickly by the property). An example of this was just over this Thanksgiving holiday I had dropped my keys down the elevator shaft. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a place close to downtown. Amazing view of lake union and the skyline from roof, club rooms and some of the apartments. Good sound isolation from the other apartments, but some of the road noise from Westalke Ave can come in. The management team is amazing and very friendly. All my service requests were completed within a day, also really appreciate the option of the technician wearing shoe covering inside the apartment. The helpfulness from the staff extended even after my lease was over, Kyle went out of his way to keep my bike safe after I messed up my move and didn't have space to take it with me. read more

I just moved in here because I love the building and the location. But what closed the deal was Kyle, who was my agent throughout the process. He was great, answered all my questions, and followed up with me whenever it was needed. And in my first two weeks as a resident, he was there whenever I needed him. Kenny was extremely helpful through the whole apartment experience. He was very knowledgable and helpful in the leasing process. The whole staff was helpful through my time living there. There are a LOT of amenities with inclusion with rooftops and three different lounges that are accessible for residents as well as a lot of easy street parking right across the street. The only thing to note was the bowling alley amenity didn't seem to be very consistent: with outages and at times bowling balls not being present. Had a great time living here overall. read more

I would first like to state that this specific review will be based solely off of my customer service experience with Westlake Steps staff and will not take note of the facilities/building itself (though the review would still be great). My engagement with the folks in the WS office has been phenomenal to say the least. Krista was helpful with the leasing process and has been consistently professional and kind whenever I see or talk with her. The manager of WS, Mitch (who came onboard not long ago, replacing a not-so-great person), is understanding, warm-hearted, and a pleasure to work with as well! My strongest relationship here at WS is with Kenny. He offers hospitality that is authentic, comforting, light-hearted, and welcoming. Kenny has gone above and beyond to ensure my time on Westlake is enjoyable. In times where I have needed clarity or guidance, Kenny has patiently leaned in and made sure I got what I needed. He is a leader--engaging with integrity and empathy. A few months ago, during a particularly stressful time in my life, I was brought to tears at the level of exceptional customer service I received while working with Kenny. I always know that this apartment is good. However, I don't know it is so good! The staffs are all very friendly and helpful. The amenities are super nice not because they look elegant and expensive, but also because they feel super comfortable! A total of four rooftops, two skyline rooms and more than 8 BBQ stoves are available all over the place. It can accommodate as many parties as you can imagine. I am never a coffee person, however the coffee available in the leasing office is so good that I become a big fan of coffee now! It is an apartment full of art tastes. All its decorations, coaches, armchairs, tables, stools and etc. are arts! For my own unit, everything is super brand new and clean. It caters to all my needs perfectly. For a small example, the kitchen has three separate lights beneath the cabinets, you can either turn on them all or save some electricity by turning only the necessary one on. I cannot express how excited and grateful I am to have such an apartment as my starting point in Seattle! Come and you will never regret! Also, all the residents are very nice person. As soon as you walk through the doors you are welcomed with a friendly staff. Moving in was a breeze. The staff was eager to help and the online lease was a breeze. The apartments are laid out very well and have plenty of space. There are 4 rooftop decks and I believe 3 of them have dog parks. Walk out the front door and you will find yourself standing in front of lake union. Feeling tired, they got you covered with a coffee machine that makes all sorts of drinks. When I started my search for a new apartment, I had a list of around 30. There are a lot of apartments in Seattle, lucky my first stop was Westlake and I knew that was the one for me. Lived here for 1.5 years. The apartments are awesome- spacious rooms, modern appliances, The leasing agents (Cheri and Krista) are super friendly and treat you like family! Apartment complex is well-kept and clean. Awesome amenities, with the rooftops overlooking Lake Union, spacious co-working spaces, pool table, and even a bowling alley! Also, perfect location- walkable into downtown, while the surrounding Westlake neighborhood is quiet at night and always feels safe. Great amenities, unable to protect valuables. We pay $250 a month to park in a secured garage. In the past 6 weeks- our car was broken into and then this morning my husbands $2500 Electric bike was stole out of a secured room that requires fobbing into. The thieves had enough time to unbolt the bike rack and slide the chain off and steal multiple bikes out of the storage room. Response from management was, OOOOHHH well, file a police report and make an insurance claim. Also forgot to mention, were supposed to have a security company monitoring the building at night...hmm where were they? Needless to say, highly upset we pay so much to live in a tiny SECURE apartment that you have to FOB everywhere to go, but we still get ROBBED.. ludicrous. read more

I know my comment is just my comment and I know people still gonna choose this place no matter what. But if you see this you are lucky because it's either gonna help your decision or save you a lot of money. The place is good it's new and generally welcoming. However, the management team is awful especially some of them. You have to know they are limited to what they do and that will be charging you for rent lol. Besides that, you are on your own. I have lost a couple packages in here and I have to say they are quite expensive. I believe it was this year the lady in the office said they are gonna scan people's ID for collecting packages. Well apparently that never happened. Which is fine because honestly it's not a promise or anything. But think before you say anything. And also, don't be stupid like me to think you will be safe even if you don't sign up for the parcel pending facility cuz you think people around you will keep their hands off your stuff. Don't save the $20 lol. I don't want to blame anyone, part of this is definitely my mistake but don't count on the management team in any apartment guys because they will NOT do anything besides collecting your rent. read more

We concur 100% with the B.G. reviewer below. To add on, management team DID NOT even inform residents of the security breach and downplayed/ refused to take responsibility of the situation when confronted on the lack of communication to residents. Their response was "You should have kept your expensive bike in your room" and there was no mention on how they were going to improve the situation. We did not even know our ebike was missing until a week after the theft. Management only sent an email to residents informing of a 'key reprogramming' for the bike storage 5 DAYS after the theft and there was no mention of a break-in. The situation, we learned, was far more serious. Not only did thieves slip into the parking lot and damaged several vehicles, but they also broke into the secured storage with a crowbar, and took several bikes. If something as serious as this was not reported to the residents, how serious does the next security breach need to be in order for management to act responsibly towards residents? When confronted, management was highly defensive (one even raised their voice) and customer service and professional demeanor descended very quickly. Apparently, the team told us that they were not aware that the email to the resident community did not mention of a break-in. How could the team not read the emails that are sent out to the residents, especially if the email was sent from their manager? It just reflects poor ethos, disorganization and a lack of genuine interest in resident experience and security, leading us to believe that either management is incompetent in dealing with complex urban issues/ responding to resident feedback, or just hiding something. There is a lot of room for improvement and humbleness. read more

I recently moved in to Westlake steps. I came to Seattle with super tight timeline. Came on Saturday searching for apartments (looked at 7 to 8) and moved in on Sunday. I have to thank Kenny a lot, for his incredible effort in moving all the pieces(documents, permissions, cleaning) to get the apartment ready that quick and also Krista for the support throughout the process. Staff is super friendly, reliable and transparent with everything, which makes you feel comfortable. Property is just great with its lake side location/great views and all the modern amenities.
