Called to try to get a quote. Keep in mind that the company is called ARREGLADOS, the guy who answered the phone answered in SPANISH (Remember this, because it's important)
I'm a no sabo so I asked if he spoke English, in case I needed to pass the phone to my roommate for ease of communication. The dude starts flying off about how people keep asking him if he speaks English and calls me racist lol. Clearly, I'm brown af (you can't be racist to other minorities, anyway) and I mentioned that I'm Mexican American and was trying to make sure because I was trying to be accommodating.
Growing up in AZ, there's always local businesses that might not speak English and sometimes it's easier to just ask whoever answers if they speak English. Normally, whoever answers will say, "Yeah" and I'll explain what I need. Or if they say "Spanish is better," I'll say, "Un momento, porfa" and pass the phone to someone near me that can explain better unless I believe I can get myself through explaining lol. JUST like some of my family would pass ME the phone when they wanted me to explain something in English.
I interrupted his tirade and explained that I was price shopping and had talked to 2 places already that didn't speak English so if needed, I could pass the phone.
Dude continues to project and talk about the question being racist, etc. So, I told him not to worry about it and hung up because I'm not trying to hear all that bs.
So, for anyone looking at the business. Despite the name and the fact that they answer in Spanish, they do, in fact, speak English well. So, don't ask because some guy there has a complex about it. I'm assuming it's the owner Abraham, based on his replies to some of his Google reviews. Get out of here with that racism crap, dude. Sometimes, a question is just a question. read more
