Since we'd already been seated, we ordered one dish to go, and I explicitly asked for zero hotness and spice, which the server confirmed was possible. When we got the food home, it was a hot spice level of 8. We spent over $60 for a dish none of us could actually eat. While there, I requested that they update the menu to list allergens. They said they would. But the menu is still exactly the same. That tells me this isn't a priority for them, even after being asked directly. Restaurants aren't legally required to list every allergen upfront, but disclosure "only if you happen to ask" defeats the purpose. The food was mediocre at best. The idly was nice and fluffy, but shockingly small. It was about half the size of what you would get at most other South Indian restaurants. It honestly felt like mini idlies. The vada was made fresh, but it wasn't fully cooked and was still doughy on the inside. The coconut chutney didn't taste fresh at all and very clearly felt like it had been made days earlier and refrigerated. The ginger chutney was overly sweet and poorly balanced. The sambar and Filter Coffee were the only saving grace. Sambar had good flavor and the right consistency. That said, the only vegetable we found in it was onion, which was disappointing. Given the quality and quantity of food, the prices are completely unjustified. While I was surprised that the filter coffee was actually quite good, charging $4.50 for half a cup of filter coffee is nothing short of daylight robbery. The worst part of the experience, however, was discovering that they charge a 3% credit card processing fee that is not disclosed anywhere, neither on their physical menu nor online. This is unacceptable and misleading. I will be filing a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's Office, as businesses are required by law to clearly inform customers of such fees before the transaction. Overall, this place is not worth the price or the hype. Convenience alone doesn't justify poor value and lack of transparency.
