It offers an extensive menu, and for what you pay, the portions are very generous! Our favorite dishes are the mango curry, lamb vindaloo, and the classics like butter chicken and tikka masala. We always order some form of appetizer. We have had the samosas as well as the hummus and tabouleh, and everything has been delectable! I always order their baba Ganoush. The smoky, roasted eggplant is savory and has great depth to the flavor profile. Our other favorite is the garlic naan. It is seasoned to perfection and roasted beautifully! Another thing I appreciate is they offer a spice level for your order. So when the opportunity arose to share a Friday night dinner with family, we opted to try 5 Rivers Indian Cuisine, a family owned and run restaurant in Everett on Evergreen Way near 4th Avenue, specializing in Punjabi and Mediterranean cuisine! They have lots of amazing options to choose from. While nothing is specifically labeled vegan, they do have many vegetarian options I found them to be very accommodating to our vegan dietary needs. I've almost never met a Grape Leaf dish I didn't like so I had to try their version. They did an amazing job with the aesthetics, using a creamy vegan tahini sauce to really bring this dish to that next level. I also ordered Baba Ghannoj. Surprisingly, they advised their pita bread is not vegan but they gladly substituted roti instead, super flavorful and great mix of textures dancing around on the palette. For a main dish, I heard their "Vegetarian Thali" dish calling to me (but thankfully, it didn't call me Seymour .. .. .. ), giving me the opportunity to try a myriad of flavors and combinations. Given that a couple of components weren't vegan, they were graciously able to accommodate .. and provide me with a fully vegan ncombination of (from left to right) Aloo Chana, Dal Maharanji, Aloo Gobi, Basmati Rice and more delicious roti bread. We live near by and have been to the Mexican place next to it multiple times. Today we decided to try out 5 rivers and we're so happy we did. This place has been on my radar for a few years... Roughly since they opened. Right down the street from me is a good local spot by the name of Curries but I am always looking for something new, even if it's in the same category. Quick tangent, but years ago there was a nice spot in Downtown Everett whose name I cannot recall that had an amazing lunch special. Like for $5, they had a Masala Chaat, with rice, naan and a drink. I used to love frequenting but it's been gone for years so.... Anywho. Back to the main character that is Five Rivers Indian Cuisine. As you walk in you'll be hit with classic jabs, punches and slaps of aromatics, spices and the uniqueness of many Indian restaurants. It was empty but a good sign was the counter. Ladened with several orders of either pick up or the all too common door-dasherie' that's commonplace these days. I always try to do a good amount of reconnaissance before I order, having an idea of what I wanted but also wanting to try something I've yet to experience. Panipuri has been something that has been in my imagination and salivations for a long time. Now this place has a different variation of it, called Gol Gappe but it is still close enough to be an introduction, considering the plethora of videos I've seen. The start of my conquest was the classic Butter chicken. Now quick pause; you can select any protein available, from chicken, lamb, fish or shrimp plus any I might have forgotten. I asked for medium spicy and it had enough kick for me to get one less spicy next time I visit. The next dish was their Lamb Biryani. That was the same level of spicy and the same thing goes; less spicy. Now, instead of the usual naan or garlic naan, I always go for the Keema. It is naan stuffed with lamb and spices. It's always been my favorite and this was a great choice. I finished out my order with the Gol Gappe. It is similar to panipuri, I assume but the mixture was a potato and chickpea mixture accompanied by a tamarind sauce. My total was around $60, not including tip and then an additional order of a couple cans of coke to which i purchased after my food was ready and picked up after waiting 15-20 minutes. After I got home, I set up my little sport and got ready for my initial peeping and sample of what I had ordered. First was the Gol Gappe. From what I seen online of the panipuri offspring, the little pocket pouches are usually;y fried and puff up from the cooking and process. These however were premade or manufactured, due to the little pressed inventions on its body. a little disappointing but not the end of the world and it still delivered an experience that I was looking for. The potato-chickpea mixture was very subtle and soft with a very bland yet nice flavor. After cracking the top of the Gol Gappe pocket, I spooned in some of the mixture and then poured in the tamarind sauce. The bite was very sensuous and refreshing. The textures melded well together and the sweetness of the tamarind sauce or juice brought it what gave me i good idea how the barometer for this dish or snack can be. I had a like three or four before I moved on to the entrees. I was happy. Next was the Lamb Biryani. Now I've had biryani before, with goat and at a different venue and it was light and fluffy. This was a different variation entirely. It was a heavy box so I knew I would be having leftovers for the next few days, which is always a plus. when I opened the box I was immediately hit with a powerful aroma of the Lamb and the accompanying spices. It was very dark, almost like a soy sauce fried rice color and the steam was rising like it came straight from the pan. The lamb was huge. Thick hunks and chunky cuts that were well seasoned and dotted all throughout. I placed a decent portion in my bowl. The flavor was WOW. And remember when I said less spicy next? Yeah, it had kick. It was not overwhelming and you can taste the lamb and the spices plus the rice but the flavor of the spiciness lets you know you you're eating some heat!!! The dish came with a little to go ramekin of a yogurt sauce which definitely helped calm it down but I ended up using it all and will have to get more the next time. read more

What a wonderful surprise, the interior of this Indian restaurant was so inviting. The staff taking our order and checking in on us were courteous and so helpful with my gluten and dairy allergies. What was most enjoyed were the unique menu items that were delicious with divine spices! The 5 river stuffed naan was my husband's favorite paired well with the mulligatawny soup- creamy and full of chicken. On a slow Sunday night, the place was wide open; ample seating. The service was friendly and fast. We ordered Lamb Korma, Chicken Jalfrazie, garlic naan, and a glass of red Indian wine that they recommended. All of it was amazing. The meat was tender and the spices were excellent. The wine had a unique flavor that paired nicely with the meal. The ambiance was nice as they had TV screens displaying a warm fireplace. The portion sizes and prices were good. We also ordered biriyani and palak chicken. The taste was okay. The portion size again was huge, but it was more of rice. I wish there were more meat portion. The curry came with a decent amount of meat, but the biriyani was lacking. There were 7-8 pieces of meat when I counted. I understand process has sky rocketed, but I don't think that anyone should be paying for 7-8 small chunks of meat with rice for $20. Naan bread was delicious. We ordered few things and here are my ratings for each : Aloo Gobhi (3/5) - oily but tasty. It was heavy as well , and tasted like made a day before. Veggie delight - (2.5/5) - again oily and ok in taste. Garlic Naan (1/5) - not at all good. It was not fresh and very hard/stretchy- seemed like it was premade atleast a day before and just heated up. Finally got around to coming here and the food was sooooooo good. Especially the dish I ordered "'coconut curry chicken." I love that you can choose the spicy level and I love spicy food so it was perfect at level 4. Will definitely be coming back with my friends. What a find in Everett! A friend of mine had recently dined at 5 Rivers and suggested we go for lunch. Nice location with plentiful parking on Evergreen Way. We were greeted warmly and seated by a window where my friend was able to watch her car with her two dogs while we ate! I ordered the 5 Rivers delight which included shish kabobs and chicken kabobs as well as prawns. My one issue is that these were pretty small shrimp so calling them prawns had altered my expectation. Nevertheless, they were all delicious and they were served with spiced rice. My friend ordered a paneer dish with spinach which was also excellent. We ordered some garlic nan which was one of the best I've ever had. I will be back and likely bring in more friends to experience this family owned establishment. Fairly classic, excellent comfort food. 4/5 - Garlic Naan: We were too hungry to retoast, so sadly this was real soggy when we ate it, and it seemed to lack substantial garlic flavor. 3/5 These two dishes was enough food for 4+ people ( probably closer to 6). The rice was packed and mounded into a take out container, with so much rich they had to staple it shut. So yes, there is a higher price, but that's because of how much food is included.
