    Coconut curry chicken

Spectacular food, great atmosphere and yummy food!! This little place is really conveniently located -- right across from Historic Everett Theater. Just one warning, the food is so beautiful and delicious that you will wonder why you didn't try it sooner. We ordered appetizers, Naan and some delish entrees. The food was so amazing that I dug right in and forgot to take pics, except for the Pakooras. When I came previously, I took a pic of the wonderful curry that I didn't post. The service was understated and very prompt. We never had an empty water glass, and the wait staff was very accommodating. The portions are plentiful and did I mention the flavor was FABULOUS. All y'all need to try it the next time you are in Everett.

Hmmm, we went in there thinking it's a full on Indian restaurant, but checking the menu, found that they also do Mediterranean dishes. Ok, that's usually not a good thing, cause doing two different cuisines really really well... that's rare. I unfortunately was right, we ordered one Tikka masala and one chicken shish kabob. Well the mediterranen dish turned out good, meat was flavored well and the salad had a good dressing. The Tikka was a huge disappointment, not much depth, all tomato sauce, rice had no spices (probably so it can also go with the mediterranenen dishes) and the garlic naan didn't have much garlic at all. So it's a ok for me, might be better to get mediterranenen dishes when you go there.

While many restaurants in the area may close early, this restaurant close much later. That is a plus for late hunger. I like garlic naan and butter chicken. I also tried Rasmalai, but can't recommend it. Street parking.

I was here to attend an art festival and was late for lunch. Every other place was closed but luckily they were open. It was crowded with the folks who came from out of town for this art festival. The server was really nice who greeted us and gave us the menu to look at. We ordered the appetizer dolma and the main course was curry chicken and naan and since it was too cold outside weather wise we ordered masala chai as well. The food was delicious and we were hungry too. It's a small space but well kept and great service as they checked if we needed anything. One thing we missed is to check what comes with each order. We were expecting naan and chicken curry but the order came with rice and extra naan which became like a challenge for us to finish between two people. Since we were living in a hotel and evening dinner was planned by the event planners we couldn't take the food as a takeout. So just a reminder to make sure what each item comes with the order is important. This is the only Indian restaurant in that area so if you're looking for specifically Indian food then I highly recommend this place.

It was okay. Went in for dinner on a Tuesday and I was the only one seated up until I was ready to leave. Service, not unfriendly but not really friendly. Mostly just courier deliveries and pick ups with someone running the till. Shahi lamb korma... I'm serious when I say my reaction was "oh, this is what Sysco food tastes like with Indian spices." There was an attempt, and I got the faint powdered ginger, some toast on the cumin and coriander - but I just couldn't get over the fact it was added flavor to a thick brown gravy sauce. So weird. I put a spoonful over the rice and it just stayed on top. Never seen that before. At least the lamb wasn't overcooked and it was very mild for "medium." Seattle medium? ;-) But I appreciate them cooking a spinach naan with garlic on it. I did really enjoy that. In a pinch or had a serious craving, I would go here again but I won't consider it a stand-by.

The food is good. The chicken wings go good with the sauce that they give. The lamb also hits. Veggies are fresh and rice is cooked well. Everything about it is good.

    Amazing, amazing food!!

It offers an extensive menu, and for what you pay, the portions are very generous! Our favorite dishes are the mango curry, lamb vindaloo, and the classics like butter chicken and tikka masala. We always order some form of appetizer. We have had the samosas as well as the hummus and tabouleh, and everything has been delectable! I always order their baba Ganoush. The smoky, roasted eggplant is savory and has great depth to the flavor profile. Our other favorite is the garlic naan. It is seasoned to perfection and roasted beautifully! Another thing I appreciate is they offer a spice level for your order. Spicy is a relative term, so I appreciate having a range to work with. 5 Rivers recently renovated their dining area, and it is very beautiful and clean. Service is always friendly, too. Overall we are very happy to have found such a gem nearby!

For $26.95 ( solo lunch) I could have gone to a delish Indian buffet. Also note: no chutney, no raita, no condiments, no tamarind sauce. It's a NO.

My friend moved to downtown Everett last year and is still exploring the area. She told me about…read morethe vegan joint nearby that she hadn't been to yet. We're both omnivores who eat a fair amount of plant-based fare for health reasons (I have allergies and intolerances, she's heeding doctor's advice). To be clear, this is a cafe, not a full blown restaurant. They serve luncheon fare, but it's a small operation so be either patient to don't bother - especially if there's a line. It's counter ordering with payment expected in advance. The tables closest to the window are a *little* harrowing because of the ADA ramp that leads to the door: the closest chairs can teeter down the ramp if the chairs are pushed back too far. Be careful. There are huge, regular, and small tables available. The biggest table is a little tricky to navigate for folks who want to sit in the booth side, but once seated it's quite lovely. I ordered the Pesto Pasta (involving zoodles: zucchini noodles) and a Sun Juice. My friend ordered the Grilled Cheese and Bisque. Please note: it's worth looking around this place while waiting for your food. You can conceivably get your own water, napkins and cutlery if you walk far enough along the counter towards the back of the restaurant. Back there, you may also notice a single-occupancy restroom and bins for bussing your own dishes. The Sun Juice arrived first, freshly blended, and was delicious. If that's what their juice is like, I look forward to exploring their smoothie offerings. My pasta arrived looking BEAUTIFUL on a bed of spinach, and smelled just as good. It tasted a teensy bit more of salt than I would've liked, but then I speared a sun dried tomato with my next bite and remembered that I'm not a food critic, just a happy customer. Although I'm not generally a fan of zoodles, they seemed to have the art of cooking them down pat: they didn't distract from the pesto at all. The bisque had an artful design of (coconut? cashew?) cream on top. My friend was delighted to note that it was a bit of spice to it: nothing challenging, but just enough for her to find comforting. Given the light and airy look of the inside and the rather rustic / flower-child look of the outside, she was not expecting that surprise. She was so impressed with the grilled cheese sandwich that she offered me a bite: we were both quite impressed with the "cheese" they used, as the item was listed as vegan on the menu. My friend kept whining that she's doomed, as they're close to where she lives *and* they deliver. Oh, yeah - poor her, indeed. Alas, alack, and so on.

As someone who does not have access to an auntie, I cannot claim "authenticity" ... but I can claim Butter Chicken Indian Kitchen serves GOOD food, especially for Gig Harbor. LOGISTICS / AMBIANCE Located next to the Harbor Museum, there is some parking at the very front of the restaurant but I imagine it's OK to overflow into the museum parking, especially when it's closed (that's what we did). I suppose this place qualifies as a "hole in the wall" - it's easy to miss off the main road due it being in a smaller building (think like a gas station convenience store). We were able to get a seat for 3 on a rainy Friday night, but I would call ahead for larger groups of 5+ to check seating availability. Despite the small building, it felt cozy without being cramped. They have an extensive menu so I would take time to look through it while you wait for a seat, but the staff are friendly if you have any questions about unfamiliar items. Sure the lighting isn't flattering... but there's a certain "hole-in-the-wall" charm to the place, from the lanterns on the tables to the smell of curry wetting your appetite. FOOD Unfortunately we were with someone sensitive to spicy food and we wanted to share dishes... so my partner and I had to lower the spice level on our dishes. Unfortunately the 2-3 range was pretty mild for our dishes. Though tasty, I would have liked a little more heat so something to keep in mind. Since we had ordered two saucy dishes, we got two servings of basmati rice in a "handi" ( the copper pot) that kept the rice warm. The basmati rice on its own was very good and fragrant; I even found a cinnamon stick in one of the pots! It went really well with two curries. Fish Korma (lvl 3 spice): Of the two curry-esque dishes I tried, this was my favorite. The creamy sauce was super flavorful with a harmonious blend of spices, super tasty on rice or with any of the provided condiments. I seldom see fish as an option but this was a surprisingly great combination. Tandoori Chicken (lvl 2 spice): This was our favorite dish of the night - it may sound basic (you see tandoori chicken at a lot of places) but it was REALLY good. I liked how the chicken was really juicy and had a nice smokey flavor and char from how it was grilled/serves. The hot plate was a nice touch to keep it warm as well! Definitely squeeze a little bit of the lemon to give it refreshing acidity while eating it warm. I do wish we went higher on the spice rating here since it could have benefited from having more kick, but it was still delicious! Dal Makhani (lvl 3 spice): This was our least favorite, but I had some bias since I was expecting this dish to be something else I had before (need to research more about the variations). I was expecting it to be more creamy with flavor, but it felt a lot more like a tomato-forward channa masala w/ lentils. Still delicious, but not what I was expecting. This also felt a little more spicy than the Fish Korma despite having the same spice level. Garlic Naan (1 piece): Always a must have w/ Indian food! I like eating it with the curries and adding on the complimentary chutneys. The perfect side carb (after basmati rice) for the sauces! Strawberry Lassi: This was was a complimentary surprise, as I think the owner/manager came by and provided them at the end of the meal. They were delicious and a great way to end the meal with a sweet treat! Plus the yogurt helps with digestion or appease any lingering spice effects on the tongue. OVERALL Honestly this place exceeded our expectations - pricing may seem a little high but they're actually on-par with other Indian places I've been to in Seattle and the Bay Area. The portions here are generous especially with the rice - so plan on taking home leftovers! We couldn't finish everything between 3 people and we were starving when we arrived. As a former Gig Harbor residence... I remember a time when this was a little restaurant ran by a sweet Australian couple and a killer cocktail menu. That was years ago, but I'm glad another diverse restaurant option has taken up this space in a town with little variety. The service nice and I could definitely see myself checking out this place again when I'm in the area. All in all, if you're feeling adventurous and want to try something different but delicious... check out Butter Chicken Indian Kitchen!
