Aroma special Hyderabad dum biryani
Peter L.

There are quite a few Indian restaurants in Bothell so it's taking time to try them all. But Aroma has been my go to place for the past 3 out 4 times. It's not a huge place, but the decor is modern and clean and doesn't feel like a cafeteria or diner. Prices are reasonable and the menu is extensive. As a huge biryani fan, I had a chance to try two different versions and they were both great. I would say that the spice level is a bit higher, but the food is very flavorful, ingredients are fresh and the server was great and offered me extra raita to make sure I was ok :). Portions were generous and the leftovers could easily make a second lunch. They also have great lunch specials such as a rice bowl for $10 as well as a thali for $14 (2 types - chicken and vegetarian). Definitely worth a try when in the Bothell area.

We went on Monday evening as wanted to try new restaurants open in Bothell . It's not a new one instead it's rebranded from previously named namaste India . They had lots of offers from Monday to Thursday and which I would like to try each in these offer. Monday kid eat free if you order entree and kids can select from kids menu. Flew ordered egg chettinad with Malabar pratha. Both were nice and flavorful esp recommended to try Malabar paratha it's nice crisps and flawkly layers . One of the best Malabar paratha I have eaten. New ambience looks nice n won't say ambience is great but it's a decent upgrade . Service was quick and server was nice to accommodate last minute needs. Next time I am looking to try the dosa offer which is in Thrsuday

Tasty, inexpensive, large portion sizes (I love a generous leftover situation!), food was fresh and spicy-but-not-too-spicy, plus the attentive service really sold the experience. We really liked this place. We'll be return customers for sure.

Another brand new Indian restaurant in Bothell. This one is replacing the Namaste Indian restaurant. They have revamped the space and made it an elegant looking restaurant. The interior are truly remarkable. Great ambiance for any occasions. Best part about this place is the variety on their menu. Soups, Starters, Kebabs, Tiffin & Chaat options, Entrees, House Biriyani & rices, Fusion specialties (tacos, wings, fried rice, noodles etc.), variety of breads, desserts, beverages, mocktails and special kids menu! A whole lot of options to pick from. Being here for the very first time, was a bit skeptical about it when I saw so many options. So we decided to order some tiffins - Uthappam & masala dosas and a Amaravathi special biryani. Also ordered a Classic mojito mocktail as well. Food arrived relatively quickly. Mocktail first, followed by Uthappam and masala dosa. The Tiffins were really good - very soft Uthappam - very delicious with the Sambar & chutneys served alongside. Only good words about the Masala dosa as well. Very fresh and hot served quickly. Biryani took some time to arrive - they warned us that it will be a spicy one due to the ingredients and they won't be able to adjust the spice level. It was spicy - manageable for us - especially the raita & salan served alongside. The flavor was outstanding. The meat was cooked. Interestingly it had the dum version of chicken as well the fried version - adding more to the flavors. Really enjoyed it! Service has been really great from the moment we walked in. They gave us a nice and cozy place. People were always around to help or answer the questions. Great hospitality from the staffs. It's brand new - very neat and clean. Well maintained place. I hope they will continue the excellent service and quality of the food. At the moment, my new favorite Indian place in Bothell area. Highly recommend Aroma!

Butter chicken, after eating a good portion of it, and the delicious butter naan.

Man, I really want to give 4 stars here, but I just can't quite give it the 4th, unfortunately…read more I had just finished a grueling four days* of working in Puget Sound, which involved a lot of being out and about without knowing where I'd be or what I'd be doing the next hour, so you can imagine how exhausted I was when I came in to order a nice takeout meal for dinner. For whatever reason, I was craving Mediterranean food, and when I was searching for Mediterranean food in the Bothell area, where I was going to be spending the next couple of days afterwards, this restaurant showed up third on the list! As I was looking through the menu, I noticed their main cuisine is Indian cuisine, yet they also served Mediterranean food, which I thought was intriguing, yet a little dubious as I believe that a restaurant serving a multitude of cuisines could subject themselves to being spread too thin in their kitchen. I had looked at their menu beforehand and had decided to get the Gyro Platter, Butter Masala with Chicken, and the Goat Biryani, hoping the Goat would also mean "Greatest of All Time." I also got some butter and garlic naan to go with the meal. When I came in, Azmat was there to serve me. He had such a pleasant and calming demeanor that I wish the quality of the food would have matched that of his level of service. After reciting my order to him, he mentioned it would take 15 to 20 minutes for my order to be ready. I was sitting in a seat by the front door while several other customers came in to pick up their online orders. I thought about ordering online, but realized it would have cost a few dollars extra to do so, hence why I decided to go there in person to order. After 10 minutes, a server noticed me sitting there and offered to assist. I knew it was early, so there wasn't much she could do at this point. 15 minutes later, an employee came from the back to hand me my takeout order while apologizing for the long wait. Well, not too bad of an extended wait though. But what was too bad was the two Indian dishes that I ordered. Neither the Goat Biryani nor the Butter Masala really left any impression whatsoever. They definitely didn't taste bad, but I felt the flavors in both were quite muted. I did like the Gyro Platter better, though, but I wouldn't say it was as good as other Mediterranean spots I've been to in SoCal. The Naan breads didn't leave any impression either; I would have guessed it was just plain Naan bread. For a fraction of the cost, I'm sure you could go to one of Safeway, Fred Meyer, or even QFC for a pack of plain Naan bread that would taste almost as good. Bay Leaf Bar & Grill is located at the base of the Junction Apartments next to McMenamins Anderson School. There's plenty of parking closer to the school, but parking adjacent to Bay Leaf is quite scarce. There's a wide bike path that almost looks like a sidewalk, but is wide enough for cars to drive through. There are a few on-street parking spots directly in front, but right before these spots, there's an alleyway that has a few parking spots albeit 15 minutes only. Some of the spots are reserved for McMenamins, but I do remember the first one not having any mention of McMenamins. I wouldn't mind coming back if I wanted a taste of both Mediterranean and Indian in the same meal, especially since the interior looked so fancy and well-maintained! However, if I wanted just one or the other, I'd look elsewhere next time I'm visiting the area. Overall, 7 stars out of 10, but rounded down. * My visit was back in November of 2025; I had gone on a hiatus from posting reviews, hence the rather last post.

Thoroughly impressed with the Tandoori chicken and mint chutney; so far - my only intro to this newly discovered spot. I will definitely be back to try other dishes. next visit: I ordered an 8 oz mint chutney (different than than the chutney in small container) and have to say a little too spicy for me. Though the extreme spice level loving mom was rather attached to it. During the holiday break, I made a minor trek from Greenwood into the buffet setup; location is great since it's right off the freeway exit. Stepped inside to a colorful variety of options. Honed in on the chicken curry - I was surprised it wasn't heavy on salt & acidic tomatoes. Overall it's a perfect chicken curry - I've on the prowl for about 5 decades. The best curry ensemble i've encountered outside India. The gravy consistency is similar to homemade curry sauce...never too thick (smoothie style) Tandoori chicken showed up a little later in the buffet scene - though, the take out version is a little juicier. Raita is thoughtfully prepared with cucumbers and light spices. Surprised to see both naan and butura are included in the buffet. Butura bread goes well with the channa masala which has a nice subtle flavor. But, I feel it could showcase more interesting/pungent spices and garbanzo beans need to be cooked a little longer to make them softer/easier to digest. Restaurant setting: spacious/comfortable with booths right next to windows! Already planning the next visit for some more of this local curry goodness.

They were careful about my gluten allergy and had plenty of options. Nikki was our server and she was friendly. Our group tried Indo-Chinese and they loved everything. I tried the peshawari chicken. We still ended up ordering it because the rest had Indo-Chinese (not GF). I'd be back to try some other things on their menu.

I love the music playing in the background, and the Mumbai themed décor is so unique and thoughtfully done. It really adds to the whole experience. Coming to the food, I specifically went for the happy hour chaat platter. I reached around 6:56 PM, and the platter is only available from 5 to 7 PM. Initially, I could not find it on the menu, and our assigned server was different. However, Rohan recognized us from our previous visits and came over. When I mentioned I was there just for the chaat platter, he kindly checked and found the menu for us. He let us know it would take about 20 minutes to prepare, which we were completely fine with. The platter arrived in about 20 to 25 minutes, and it was absolutely worth the wait. Everything from the bhel puri, pav bhaji bites, samosa chaat, to the sandwich was delicious, flavorful, and very satisfying. The chai was also really good. Highly recommend this place for both the vibe and the food. We will definitely keep coming back.
