Where do I begin.. In the fall of 2023 I had found that I was getting air in my cooling system and my antifreeze was running low with no obvious leaks or puddles under my car. Fast forward to the end of December, I was 100 miles from a motel I was renting in Lincoln. All of a sudden my car wouldn't start, called AAA and they were able to start the car with a jump but saw the battery wasn't charging. Long story short, my drive belt had snapped, so my alternator wasn't turning, thus no charge to battery. I had the car towed to Arnold's, which was across the corner from the motel room I staying at. They told me the AC compressor had seized, which had caused the belt to snap. So far so good.. HOWEVER, they also claimed that my radiator was bad (they said it had a hole). So they replaced the compressor and the radiator, put on a new belt, charging me a little over $1000. I picked up the car and quickly noticed it had no heat. I checked the anti-freeze and saw that it was low again. I ALSO noticed they had forgotten to secure the engine cover ( a plastic cover that is secured by four bolts ). Called them and told them about the cover, they said bring it in they'll take care of it. After telling them about the coolant leaking still, the owner, (John is his name I believe), said it might be the heater core, they'd have to do a pressure test to find out. So they HADN'T even done a pressure test, and just replaced the radiator on a GUESS? When I raised the strong possibility that the radiator hadn't needed to be replaced, the woman at the window (her name is Stacey) practically shouted "DON'T EVEN GO THERE!!!". John pretty much told her to shut-up. He said that I'd have to drop the car off for an indeterminate period of time for them to "diagnose" the problem, I declined since I was scheduled to leave the next day for a trip to Canada. A few days after arriving at my cousin's in Canada, he took a look at the engine and quickly noticed coolant was seeping out of a hose connecting a water pipe to one of the heater hoses. The clamp was missing (later found that it had loosened and slipped down the hose).. We picked up a new clamp, put in some more anti-freeze, and VOILA, no more loss of anti-freeze. So Arnold's charged me for a radiator I didn't need and did NOT fix the actual problem. If the story ended there I might not have even written this review. BUT NO, there's more. Remember I said they put in a new AC compressor? Once the summer came along I realized the AC wasn't working. I was out of the area until this month, but figured yep, they must have screwed up THAT job too. I called them, and they said ok, bring the car by they'd take a look. I got there and after providing my registration they said I'd have to find the receipt because all their records were "in the attic". Luckily I had the receipt in the glove box, they then had some guy look at it. He found that there was Freon in the system but the compressor wasn't turning on. So I had to schedule a day they could diagnose the problem. Went there that day and waited for them to find the problem. They had said they had to connect a tester to the system to find out if the compressor was getting a signal to turn on. It turned out to be the damn FUSE! Apparently when the compressor had seized the fuse had blown, which they neglected to check after they put in the compressor. STILL, if the story ended there that would have been the end of it. HOWEVER there is MORE! I had to get some estimates on a power steering line that was leaking ( which wasn't leaking before they did their "work" back in January, but I can't prove they had damaged it).. I walked in and asked if they could give me an estimate on the job. Stacey, the woman at the window I had mentioned earlier, said "for you, 500 dollars". She said that she thought I had been a "jerk" last time I was there. I probably SHOULD have been a bit of a "jerk" but had bitten my tongue and was quite polite with everyone there. I replied, "You know, I haven't left a review for this place yet, but I think I will". She gave me a double thumbs up and said "go right ahead!". The other woman there (Cindy) told her to tone it down, and jotted down a quick estimate. If it wasn't for the fact they took the time to fix what they missed (the AC fuse) when I brought the car in, and the fact that Cindy appeared to be a much more reasonable person than Stacey, I would have only given them one star instead of two. On the other hand, I have never in my life seen such an unprofessional, unpleasant, rude, and hostile "customer service rep" when it comes to Stacey. They were able to get my truck picked up on a flatbed on a Friday night as they were closing but that was the only thing that went well. Short story: they caused $4500 worth of damage to my truck, didn't actually fix the original problem with my truck, overcharged by almost double, and then were rude and refused to fix the problems they caused or help in any way. Now the long story: First issue: The tow truck driver (who talked about working 65+ hours already that week) struggled to load my truck on the flatbed and eventually placed my truck on the flatbed backwards. On the highway to their shop, the tonneau cover (that the tow truck driver had unlatched) came flying up and struck the top of my truck cab, damaging the top of my truck severely ($4500 worth of damage). They never mentioned this to me at all and just re-latched the tonneau cover. When I picked the truck up, the next afternoon, I didn't realize the extent of the damage until later that day. I called them to address it and was told "it was not our driver's fault, and we assume no responsibility, you should call your insurance company" Second issue: They replaced my starter motor while it was there, but in doing so, they broke the electrical connector to plug it in. Third issue: They did not fix the above issue, or let me know they broke it. (two weeks later, my starter didn't work again because the connector came unplugged). Forth issue: Again, I called to address the above issue with the wiring, Stacey, the service advisor, told me they didn't have a manager and she also refused to get the owner out of the shop to talk with me as he was working at a rate of 80 dollars an hour as a mechanic... I told her my issue and she said, "we didn't do anything wrong, you can deal with O'Reilly's auto parts to get it warrantied if you want" Fifth issue: I was charged $640 for the replacement of my starter. I was told it would be roughly an hour at $80 an hour and $223 for the starter. That is a total of $303 not $640. I would NOT recommend using this shop or the tow service they provide. read more

John did some work to my car and did a good job but was supposed to do the brakes also. He kept saying the wheel locks would be in tomorrow and that he'd call us back in an hour. My wife and I were on an motorcycle ride when a flat tire left us stranded on a Sunday afternoon. After getting nowhere with AAA we tried Arnold's. John was at his shop working on his daughters car..on his own time. After two round trips from his shop to where we were stranded, my motorcycle was safely in his facility for the night. He even got his daughter to give my wife and I a ride back to his shop, as we were not all going to fit in his truck. John coordinated a quick repair the next morning and by 9:30 I was good to go. The lady that answers the phone may just be the rudest person we have ever dealt with. Lack of communication and when my son called to ask about his car she told him if he called again she would charge him extra for calling. My husband called to ask why she was so rude and she continued to be disrespectful. Maybe that is how things are run in NH but I would avoid this place just based on her. I brought in my son's car for an oil leak and was provided an estimate of $525. My son showed up to pick up the car and was charged $950 and was told the oil leak was 100% fixed. The car continued to leak oil. When we returned we were told that they car required an additional $1500 of work to fix the oil leak and they were no longer willing to help us. DO NOT use this mechanic. Other mechanics in the area consider them a joke. If only we had known this we would not have wasted $950 on service that was not necessary and did not fix the problem. read more

After hiking the Zealand Bonds traverse from our rental car at Zealand trailhead to our truck in Lincoln Woods, we headed north on 93 towards Littleton. At mile marker 104 our thermostat went on the truck! Sketchy cell service and cars whizzing by made for a scary situation. It was now 8:30 at night. Finally able to contact State Police dispatch and they sent a trooper for lights and called a wrecker for us. John from Arnold's Auto showed up rather quickly considering our location. He was pleasant and got our truck on the flatbed and towed us to Littleton Chevy. It was now around 10pm and we're in the middle of a parking lot so we asked if he could drop us at the end of the road where we were camping and he did!! Thank the satellites that there are still old school garages like Arnold's. My Taurus sedan has a penchant for burning out rear signal lights, particularly when driving busy interstates or navigating urban traffic madness. This time, it was while on a two-day crash and burn freelance assignment profiling ski areas in New Hampshire. Coming north on I-93, I heard the familiar rapid blinking pattern indicating that my temperamental Taurus has just chewed up another signal bulb. It was mid-afternoon and I still needed to get back to Loon for some late afternoon sunlight for shooting photos. Not to worry. The good guys at Arnold's changed it out and only wanted to charge me for the price of a bulb ($5). I made sure I left a nice tip with the mechanic for taking 15 minutes out of his afternoon to help out this writer with his magazine assignment. I drove to Arnolds to have my new snow tires mounted. I had my quick-mount tire chains on the car at the time. It had snowed several inches earlier that week and I needed the chains to climb the hill in my driveway. Arnolds was under a minute from my house so I didn't worry about taking the tire chains-off. When Arnold's vehicle inspector for inspection stickers saw my chains he gave me a bunch of crap arguing tire chains were illegal in NH. He bullied/humiliated me in front of quite a few people in the busy garage. When I finally convinced him to look in the books he found he was wrong and that tire chains were not illegal to use in NH. The inspector didn't have the decency to apologize to me, however. He left me standing there and the owner did the same. Needless to say I'll never go back to Arnold's. read more

Arnolds Towing was hired by AAA was called to tow a camper for me and my wife And I can honestly say in my whole life I've never seen a bigger s*** show of a tow company as I did this one. Not only did this company not show up to give us a tow on Thursday when we called but they didn't even call us till the next day and said they will 'try" to get to us but the weekends are busy (screenshots are attached).. Mind you we had already called the day before... All they did was make constant excuses why they couldn't tow it. We were 2 hrs from home so we had no choice but to leave it there. We stabilized it and called back the next day but now they won't tow it until we drive another 4 hrs round trip to take the blocks out from under it...Now 5 days later the camper still sits on the side of the road and they refuse to tow it making excuses because we didn't pay with cash. During my brief interaction with this gentleman he was very blatant and arrogant about the fact that he was the only company in that area that could tow it so he didn't care either way... As a matter of fact, I believe his exact words were "your problems are not my problems" is what he told me (screenshots are attached) Arnold WAS VERY RUDE. Very unprofessional. Very disrespectful, at one point he was yelling at me on the phone swearing calling me names... I WOULDN'T LET THIS GUY TOW MY DOGS HOUSE LET ALONE ANYTHING THAT WAS WORTH VALUE!! read more

Arnold's is a pretty decent place in the loon mountain area. I was caught in a jam where my belt had snapped while on vacation and I read all these reviews of how they went above and beyond for their customers (stayed late made sure they got going etc.) so I was more than happy to give them my business. Long story short I ended up staying an extra night (which isn't their fault, they didn't have the part) then when the part came they didn't work on it until the next morning sometime so I guess I got the typical service. The car is running good for now but the reason for the drop in stars is solely for customer service. The guy that worked with me in the beginning (John I believe) great guy seems like a stand up respectable guy worked with me great, the receptionist not so much. I thanked her to her face at least 3 times after paying them close to $500 and the thought of a reply didn't look like it crossed her mind. I could hear her driving up some of the prices for other customers so they get a better deal which I guess is their type of work I don't respect it. Overall they are good I would bring my car back but the fact that I heard her having a great convo with someone else and when we came it was no response rubbed me the wrong way read more
