Took our Jeep JKU to Tom to have the oil cooler replaced. Of course the entire manifold had to be removed to get to it! Tom replaced the stock plastic cooler (and sensors) with a new aluminum upgrade. We also had the spark plugs changed while they were at it. Fast, excellent service! I've been looking for a reliable local mechanic to work on my Jeep for over a year. I was relieved to find that Tom has experience with Jeep suspensions. Tom inspected my vehicle and came up with an easy solution to a clearance problem that I had for a long time. I really appreciate the extra time that he spent looking for alternate solutions. I also asked Tom to repair my failed windshield washers. Both of my new washer pumps failed from freezing during the winter. Shame on me for not adding the correct washer fluid on time. Our car broke down while on a ski trip in Bear Valley and my husband checked reviews and spoke to Tom at Arnold Automotive. He was easy to work with and shared his suspicions of what the diagnosis might be and the time needed. We had it towed to the shop. In the morning, it turned out to be an easy fix (just a cracked radiator cap). The car was done by 10am and we were able to even have it towed back to us. Before we knew what was wrong and were planning for worst case scenario, we started looking into other options. A friend who lives in the area said they take their cars to Tom, even though it's 20 mins away. If our car ever breaks down in Bear Valley again, I'm glad to know Arnold Automotive is the place to go. read more

My XTerra was running rough and a check engine light was on. Tom managed to work me into his schudule with little advance notice and checked the engine diagnostics. Based on this information he proposed changing out the spark plugs, plug wires, fuel filter and other tune up parts. When completed, the engine ran perfectly. My husband and I were taking a trip to Arnold from Santa Cruz and our 97 Toyota 4Runner broke down. We had our car towed to Arnold Automotive and the owner Tom was very helpful and nice! The tech he had working on our car was very knowledgable and had worked for a Toyota dealer for 20 years (I think his name was Rob). Our 4Runner needed a new timing belt and water pump, and the tech (ASE certified) had the job done in less than five hours! The other thing we liked was that the shop was very clean and organized. While staying in Arnold, one day our vehicle wouldn't start in Murphys. We got a jump from AAA and limped back to Arnold. On the way I called Arnold Automotive to see if we could drop it off since it was near to closing time. Recently while driving through Arnold, a bear ran right in front of my car and was hit by my front bumper. The shield under my car was torn loose and was dragging on the road. I was only able to drive far enough to get to Arnold Automotive. The people at Arnold Automotive very nicely removed the shield and refused to let me pay them for their services. I have gone here to replace my brake pads and rotors and more recently to replace my u joints on my truck. I get parts tax free from oreilly because my dad has an account with them but as I live far away so he cannot work on my vehicle for me very often. So I can bring the parts and just pay for labor. They don't try to tell me that I need to get this or that fixed like many other auto shops I have dealt with. I can walk to my work if absolutely necessary and the woman at the front desk has even offered to drive me to work so I could leave my truck there and pick it up when I got off.
