We have been looking for a quality and trustworthy mechanic for a few years after our previous mechanic moved. We had heard of Rocky's from a neighbor and decided to give them a try. What a find! I thought the issue was the fuel pump and brought my truck to Dan. Dan was so thorough and even called to ask after diagnosing that the vehicle's issue wasn't the fuel pump but an electrical issue, if we still wanted to put in the new one. He was honest and could have just told us without our ever knowing, not replaced the fuel pump and we would have never been the wiser as the fuel pump was inside the gas tank. We could have saved a few hundred dollars but thought it wise with 195,000 miles on our truck, that we should put the new fuel pump in and Dan agreed. He found a few other issues that not diagnosed, could have left us stranded back in the forest. We will definitely use Dan again and have already recommended him to others. At Rocky's Mountain Auto Dan is "the man". For years, we have traveled highway 108 to Pinecrest and have NEVER had any car trouble except this last weekend. The engine light on our 2018 Honda accord hybrid lit up: EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM. AVOID HEAVY ACCELERATION AND HIGH SPEED. SEE YOUR DEALER. While our car stopped in sugar pine, about a mile from Rocky's, we were paralyzed for several reasons. While we called several places, no one was available on short notice and could only examine the car six days later, including Rocky's. However, Dan at Rocky's said we could drop it by Monday to see if they could fit it in. We were able to EV the car to his station, and Dan was able to trouble shoot it the next day and cure the problem within an hour's labor. The error code was P2061- coolant pump control circuit. When i looked it up, it looked like a nightmare diagnosis involving several steps in a process of elimination. The error code said go to dealer, but we were too far from any honda dealership and were stuck. Moreover, what concerned me was the anxiety of not only a large towing fee to the nearest dealer, we would also be subject to a costly-dealer repair process: fixing one thing at a time to see if that was the cause and then try another until a cure was found, including pump replacements. Yet Dan was amazingly quick and to the point of trouble-shooting what was actually going on. He deduced a fluid shortage or small leak and, through extensive testing, was able to restart the pump and get us in working order. Like our home-tech, Dan was caring and VERY ADAMANT, esp about our vigilance in continuing to check the fluid levels every two days unless codes come up again. The charge very cheap: an hour labor plus fluid. To us this was SERVICE and VALUE at its best: they took us in when they could, gave expert care in short order, and charged us a lower price well below than we expected. My wife and I believe that our auto-care and the expertise required to maintain them is on the same level as that of the care we receive from trusted primary care doctors. We thought we took a chance with Rocky's, but Dan was a quick show, demonstrating an underlying advanced level of expertise which earned our longstanding trust. Thanks Dan: you are "the man" we will come back to, and send our kids to you, while they are up here, tor any car need that arises. We also understand and appreciate WHY you are busy. A little while back my husband called me to let me know that our truck was making a strange sound and he was worried that it was brake related. He made an appointment at Rocky's. Rocky's couldn't have been more efficient in their diagnosis of the problem. Their staff fit us in right away and they pin-pointed the issue in a matter of minutes. Turns out - it was just a rock that had managed to work it's way into the car. They promptly removed it and our truck is back to running smoothly. During our recent snowstorms, I brought in my car for a brake check after seeing oil dripping in snow near my wheels. The team was nice enough not only to fix it immediately, but also also fix a broken tail light, and another one that was about to break (it was already blinking fast). That attention to detail with safety was so thoughtful - I really appreciated that! Who would actually do a quick safety check, anticipating the problems I was having dealing with climbing hills in the snow around pines which block nearly all street light? Excellent work and communication. Called me back when I left a message as soon as they got to the office in the AM when my car was stranded down the street after business hours . Also followed up with me once I got the car towed to the shop. Very good shop and highly recommended. I already knew what was wrong, they confirmed it and I brought up the original fuel pump to put back in it. (Original fuel pump wasn't broken- just trying to fix fuel gauge. Horrible aftermarket Delphi fuel pump we installed several a few weeks ago alll are absolute junk) The price was also the exact amount I expected- no surprises. read more

My truck blew its transmission and I took it to Rocky because he said we would try to get it done for less than $1500. He went above and beyond the call by taking the tranny out and had it inspected in Modesto (at no charge), where we found out it couldn't be rebuilt. He suggested I look online and I found a tranny in Oregon that I had shipped down In less than a day his mechanics had it installed. I came to pick it up and my truck now runs like brand new! I checked the install and not a thing was done wrong. They did perfect work, all for less than $1100!!! I highly recommend Rocky's for any automotive need.
