Kniesel did not provide a solution and instead requested $900+ to fix the problem that their mechanic created. I called 15+ mechanic shops that night, the only one to respond was Jon. He offered to take a look that same night, despite it being after 7 pm when I called him. John met with me the following day, diagnosed the problem correctly, explained what the other mechanic had done, and offered me several possible solutions to rectify the issue. He went out of his way to 4 different auto stores to find the correct parts needed for the job (Helicoil Timesert). He worked diligently for hours, stayed with me to ensure every detail was covered, and even followed up with me the following day to ensure there was no residual leakage. And to top it off, his price was extremely reasonable for the work done and about one-third the price quoted by Kniesel (again to fix a problem that they themselves created). Jon could have easily taken advantaged of the situation, knowing that other mechanics were not open on Sunday, and charged me much more -- this speaks to his honesty and strong ethics as a person, a quality that is not seen in many others in the industry (i.e. Kniesel). His workmanship and attention to detail is evident in the outcome, as there was no leak the following day after testing for many hours. I cannot recommend Jon highly enough, and will be referring all friends / family / co-workers in the Sacramento area to call him if they have any car issues. I always take my car to Country Lube for oil changes and…read moremost minor repair work, however today, I took my car to Les Schwab in Placerville for an oil change because I needed tires as well, and I thought, YAY! one stop shopping and free popcorn!! Turns out Les Schwab has just started doing oil changes in Placerville and told me, when I called, that oil changes started at $106.00. However, when I got there they quoted me a price of $170.00 ...WHAT?? But, I was already there, the car was already on the rack, I had my popcorn etc. etc. THEN, I'm called to the counter and told that the last place that did my oil change stripped the oil plug thing-a-magiggy AND it was going to be very expensive to replace the oil pan or the thing-a-magiggy if they, Les Schwab, tried to remove it and it broke. So OK, off I go across town back to Diamond Springs dreading the conversation I think I'm about to have. When I pulled into Country Lube and explain my predicament and showed them the pictures the mechanic at Les Schwab took, they said "NO PROBLEM...we'll get it fixed for you!" Sure enough, the Country Lube mechanic comes back in 5 minutes part in hand got it out no problem and we will replace it for you with a new one!! I was out of there in less than an hour and the oil change cost me $106.00. Moral of the story, stick with a winner and the people you know you can trust!

The employee behind the front desk, who I believe was named Johnny, was extremely rude, arrogant, and dismissive. There was absolutely no reason to treat a potential customer that way. To make matters worse, the prices I was quoted were significantly higher than what my local Porsche dealership charges for the exact same services. Charging more than the dealership while providing far worse customer service makes no sense. After my experience, I read through many of the other reviews and found that several customers described similar interactions. I wish I had read those reviews before stopping in. I will never bring my vehicle here and would strongly encourage anyone considering this shop to read the reviews carefully before deciding where to take their car.
