I am visually impaired an rely on quality sunglasses with polarized lenses. I own 4 pairs of Smith…read moreOptics sunglasses. The 1st pair I ever bought was the Slider 01's which I had for 4 years before the frame got damaged and much to my surprise they replaced them with a new pair. Although they didn't have the Slider's, they had the Threshold which were very close. I've had the threshold's for several years and the rubber temple piece broke/tore so I ordered some replacements which they sent for free. The 2nd pair had a similar issue so I sent them in for repair. They called to tell me the Thresholds were discontinued and that they would give me credit towards another pair ($139). I found the Parallel D Max to be the closest so I'm getting those. Every time I call Smith Optics they are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Their warranty is second to none. I won't buy any other manufacturers sunglasses, and I've purchased dozens of high end sunglasses, Smith Optics is the best there is; they have a customer for life! Check out their website for a dealer near you: http://www.smithoptics.com

I had to return a couple pairs of Smith glasses. They say that they have a lifetime warranty…read moreagainst material defects- In which case they will repair or replace your glasses at no cost. This is not necessarily the case. They determined that the problems that my glasses had were material defects (one pair or sliders i bought 12 years ago and the end of one of the arms was cracking, the other were about 4 years old and one of the lenses was popping out slightly and i couldn't pop it back in) but what they offered me was a credit that was calculated at the purchase price. So one of the glasses that said they don't make anymore and the others they said they only make in a polarized lens. I was very happy that they were not saying the fault was mine but i didn't want to pay another $30 for the same glasses with the polarized lenses- their warranty said they would repair (which would have been fine by me, all the lenses were in great shape) or REPLACE them at no charge. It's not my fault that they only have that model in a polarized version. They should have said, "We only have that model in a polarized lens, is that ok?, not, "We only have that model in a polarized lens so you'll have to play the 30$ difference. If they had the exact same glasses and I took it upon myself to ask for an upgraded version, i would have understood that i needed to play the difference. The first guy i talked to (after they had received and inspected my glasses) was a total meathead and had no business answering the phone (named Chad? I'm not sure). I tried to explain the warranty discrepancy to him but he was not the sharpest cookie in the tool shed; either that or he didn't give a shit. I told him i'd call back. I called back to tell them to just mail the glasses back to me but i got someone else on the phone; a nice young lady. She suggested i talk to the supervisor. I did and she was very helpful. She tried to explain their warranty policy to me but it still didn't add up in my mind. The easy solution was- she had some back stock of the exact 2 pairs of glasses i had and she would send them to me for free. This certainly won't be the case for most folks. They do make great products- functional, stylish, and comfortable. I do feel, however, that they should reword their warranty policy.

However, my favorite part was the bakery. We tried the cranberry-lime poppyseed bread. I enjoyed it because it was not too sweet and the cranberries baked into it were delicious. My daughter had the lemon meringue tart and said it was good but a little dry. She enjoyed her big vanilla sprinkled macaron though. My absolute favorite was the seasonal offering of a strawberry-rhubarb tart. I cannot say how much I loved this pastry. It was perfect from the filling to the crust. The filling didn't taste like it had any added sugar and the strawberries served as the sweet to the tart of the rhubarb. The crust was light and you could see the layers that were just firm enough but melded perfectly with the pie filling. There was a brown sugar oatmeal and butter crumble on top that added all the sweet you need. I wish I could eat this every day and will come to visit every time I am back this way just for the chance to savor this perfect pastry again. Thank you!
