People will drive a long way for Top Tier Mac and Cheese and beer from 8 time Ratebeer.com Best Brewery in the World Honoree Hill Farmstead. I just recently learned Armsby Abbey Pub in Worcester, MA has both. Armsby is a classic pub, in a red brick building, with lots of wood inside. They serve brunch, lunch, dinner, highly rated beer, etc. The food leans toward elevated pub type food. I've had Hill Farmstead a few times in VT restaurants and bars. But I've never seen it outside VT until I saw Armsby had 5 HF beers. I ordered a flight that included HF Arthur, Edward and Harlan, and each was first rate. They have beers from other great breweries like Fox Farm in Salem, CT too. By all accounts, Armsby seems to be a top pub for craft beer. There is a viral spot for binge-worthy Mac and Cheese in Southern VT that gets a lot of publicity. I've had it many times, and it's great. Armsby's Mac, made with assorted Farmstead Cheeses, served in a crock, and topped with large rustic bread cubes and broiled cheese, is unlike any Mac I've seen. It's like Mac, but with a French Onion Soup presentation --minus the broth. It's just as good as that VT spot. True Story - when my Mac arrived, the person to my right at the bar asked what it was. And the person to my left, immediately ordered some to go. It's that impressive. I didn't realize how beloved Armsby Abbey is until I posted a Story with Armsby's pics on Instagram. I received many DM's from friends who are fans. That almost never happens. Go for the great beer. Go for the great Mac. Just make sure you go. 5 Stars

Double smashburger

First visit in a while, Fourth of July lunch. Serious but unstuffy atmosphere, good mix of tables and bar stools. Beer: An impressive list that's heavy on the Hill Farmstead. Which is great if you like Hill Farmstead (I do), but not if you prefer Budweiser (I don't). I tried five Hill Farmstead selections, all excellent, but my first try at "Harlan" impressed most. Wings: Two choices; I went with the jerk. The wings are billed as fried, but they had a boiled or baked feel, with possibly a flash fry at the end? Moist, but not that crisp and not that juicy. The scattered paste on top was indeed jerk, and nicely spicy, but there was too little of it. Double Smashburger: This turned things around in a big way. It hit the crusty exterior requirements of a smashburger, but also boasted a pink interior that actually had full juiciness. Good flavor from the grilled onions. Bun a little on the overvoluminous side, but not too dense and a nice flavor addition. Good use of fresh pickles too. Fries: Also very impressive. Crisp outside, fluffy inside, and tasted like potatoes, not a freezer. In the end, it's all about the beer, but nice to know they have a surprisingly good burger and fries to go along for the ride.

Loved our experience here, my only negative would be how pricey everything was. Great beer options and other fun drinks. My boyfriend got the poutine and said it was one of the best he's had. My quiche was delicious! The flaky crust and all the flavors inside were so good. Great, fast service and the inside of the place has a good vibe. I'm glad we went, but would probably go somewhere else for similar style food for cheaper.

Stopped in for dinner in our travels to Boston. Quaint place with an interesting menu. Our server made a good suggestion for me when I mentioned liking sweet vodka drinks. My biggest complaint was that All of our food came out at the same time which was disappointing. I'm used to the appetizer coming first then meal. You could argue I didn't specify as well as they didn't ask. Also the temperature of the food lukewarm. However despite that the corn chicken chowder was very good. Rich, flavorful and filling - their bowl size is over generous with two pieces of bread. The smash burger was also tasty. The corn fritters were too heavy.

A very high end beer bar, this place always has some really interesting and hard to get beers on tap. Think Hill Farmstead.... Food options tend to focus on shared items like charcuterie and cheeses. They also have sandwiches, salads and main entrees that change seasonally. Brunch is very popular on Sundays. I have always enjoyed my meal but often struggle when ordering as the menu feels limited even though there are two pages of options. Service is really good. Ambiance is lively, dark wood bar is really attractive and seating is mostly high tops. Free street parking usually available.

It's a good vibe of local Worcester customers after work on a Friday night. Families celebrating and colleagues meeting for drinks made for a nice feel, plus a full bar. We had a short wait ad they host was friendly as was our server. Nice cocktails and savored the homemade soup of the day with chunky bread. A rich (and pricey) chocolate torte for dessert. All very good and was a nice stop over from a roadtrip.

Heading up to Boston we stopped in Worcester for a bite to eat. This is an inviting space. We were greeted immediately by the host and sat at the bar. The restaurant was busy with most tables full. The bartender was a sweet lady who greeted us immediately. As I was driving I didn't want an alcoholic drink. I got a mocktail lemonade that was tasty! For dinner I ordered the double smash burger. It was cooked perfectly with onions in the middle. The French fries it came with were some of the best I've had. Soft and salty. Just perfect. Good to know there's a great food spot when I stop in Worcester again!

I just want to start off by saying the service was amazing and the food was very fresh. My ratings are always based on how yummy I thought the food was, and it wasn't very. The only good thing to me was the meat and cheese boards. I felt like the amount of food they gave you was on the smaller size, but the meat and cheese choices themselves were delicious. And the hummus was so delicious and flavorful, with huge warm pita slices. The appetizers were the stars of the show. Then we have the entrees (dinner menu) we had the wings (buffalo carrot). It came with 4 large wings, but there was no buffalo flavor and all, honestly didn't really taste like anything besides charred chicken. We had the Mac and cheese and I thought the cheese was a little mushy with a lot of bread chunks (didn't have breadcrumbs as topping). And the gnocchi was sweet and with corn, and the gnocchi itself was really salty. I was not a fan of that one. They have a huge selection of beer and cocktails, it was yummy. They said this place is dog friendly, but I believe it's only for their outdoor seating. I didn't see any dogs, that's just my guess

Highlight of the meal here was our waiter who managed our large table with humor and aplomb, I wish I got his name, but all our orders came out correctly and he was patient with our asks for recommendations. I wish I could rate the food more highly. I went with the toast ($7) and the strawberry fields salad with chicken (an eye-popping $26). The bread, while my personal favorite of thick-cut, was several shades of brown too dark for my liking and extremely hard. Comparable to the crunch level of a baguette that's been sitting out for a day. It tore up the roof of my mouth good. I was picturing something more like a dinner roll, with a pillowy center, but to be fair, they did advertise it as "toast." I saw a lot of tables ordering it, so maybe I'm in the minority. Also, for five or six slices of bread, I wished they gave much more than the ant-sized thimbles of butter and preserves that came with it. The salad itself was okay, but it had some extremely sour bits of pickled rhubarb that threw off the taste. Between the rhubarb, the lemon chèvre, and the citrus dressing, the dish as a whole was way too sour. I liked the grilled chicken, just wish there was a lot more of it for the $10 price. My friends seemed to like their food; the flatbread in particular (really, a pizza) looked incredible. My husband said the hash was good but again, the meat in the dish (sausage) was in short supply. Parking: Street options available right across the street from the restaurant.

A 3/4 full, but full price, beer.
Sam C.

Direct quote, 'I can put less foam in your beer, but it won't be anymore beer. I'll do less foam and the same amount of beer.' Still gave me the beer with a quarter of the glass solid foam. Charcuterie app took over 40 minutes to be served. They were out of multiple beers, out of chicken wings. How do you run out of beer when you only serve 3/4 a beer? Edit, I thought I'd probably come back and edit this after I wasn't hangry about my 45 minute wait for a charcuterie, but nah. Absolutely sub par experience. Slow, unconcerned and uninvested service. Credit where credit is due, the whipped feta is very good and my daughter enjoyed the flatbread. The prosciutto and olives probably came from Market Basket, which is fine, I buy both of those at the Basket all the time, but without the markup. The smash burger was meh, the fries weren't bad. End of the day, this is a place masquerading as high end to justify high prices. Place is very clean, but overall a poor value for the money and an utterly mediocre experience.

Stopped by on our way through to Nashua for a Saturday brunch in Worcester. Parking was a little bit of an issue but not too bad. The location is on a corner with big front windows. Inside, we were greeted right away by the concierge although there was room at the bar so we took those seats instead of being seated. The bar has plenty of seating along with a bar in the middle of the room. There is a back room with seating as well. Brick walls and good industrial space. We ordered drinks and food. Beer to start, they had a good selection. Food, we split the brunch hash with an extra egg and pork belly bacon, large 3-4" thick piece of pork belly. I enjoyed the bacon although my partner is not a fan of fatty meat. The hash was pretty good, mentioned Brussel sprouts and there was 2 small pieces of a Brussel. The potatoes were the main course of the dish with small chunks of bacon and onions. Eggs were cooked very well. As always, we ask "would we come back?" There are so many choices in Worcester, probably not. A 3.5 would be a good rating.

A must stop for Beer lovers! Armsby Abbey is one of those sought-after places for lambic bottles and an incredible draft beer offering! For my birthday, we stopped for a late brunch where my husband ordered the Hash and I had the Croque Madame, both good but we found the pricing steep overall for what the menu was. The drinks however, were phenomenal! This is what they're known for for a reason - come for a beer, celebrate a special occasion with a bottle of Lambic or enjoy the cozy, vibes with the warm staff who were just wonderful!

There's a reason why this place has over 1000 reviews and nearly all of them are positive. A real gastropub with clever cocktails, a beer menu full of rare and special brews, and a menu that truly complements the beverages. I've been on several occasions and have always left happy and full. Being a gastropub, it's not the most quiet and intimate venue, especially on busy weekend nights. It's also predominantly high tops and bar stools although there are a few tables where your feet reach the floor. The food is always fresh, it's high quality and I've yet to have something cooked incorrectly. A few reviews here are critical to the pricing but unfortunately this is what you'll pay for this type of quality now. For instance a 12oz craft draft is around $10, which is only about $1 than you pay at the brewery that brewed it so I'd hardly consider it upcharging. Service varies by server (obviously) but I've found almost all of the staff friendly, prompt and helpful. They are particularly helpful if you're on the fence about a certain cheese or drink. We recently watched the manager have to speak with a 6 top about their excessively boisterous and disruptive banter. She handled the situation with tact and professionalism. Armsby is literally soup to nuts fantastic if you're looking for a modern gastropub this side of the pond.

They were friendly and eager to engage with the courtroom patrons. The Worcester Mayor was even spotted on site!l (busted!) We approached the bench (bar) and ordered a flight to sample their 4 beers. There are currently 3 IPAs and a red ale. I don't typically enjoy red ales, but "Strict Scrutiny" was actually the favorite! I don't have any objection at this time. The atmosphere is the opposite of the cold scary courtroom, no judge is demanding silence. Acoustics are a little echoey, but it's packed so that is a good thing. Please remain standing, I am still under oath. The courthouse theme is reflected on the wall "you've been served" as well as on the beer tanks which are named after female Supreme Court justices! Not only was there a charge for $42, but another charge for $33. Ok, no big deal, the place was busy, mistakes happen. I called the number listed when I googled the bar. Had to leave a message. They don't have a website, so I went to their facebook page and sent a message via messenger. I contacted the karaoke DJ, who is a friend of mine and asked if he knew how to get ahold of anyone over there.
