Stopped here on the way to a concert. Very busy but managed to get a seat by the bar. Food came out relatively quick got drinks, appetizer, and a main meal, was out within an hour. Very cute cocktail and cheese board theme, tried the sheep cheese board called the story teller. The poutine was delicious and had a good amount of cheese curds. We came here today with friends who were visiting us from Atlanta. Ambience is very nice but service takes time and Very ok experience in terms of food taste . We started with drinks-beer, mimosa, some non alcoholic ones -delicious! Ordered some plain toast with jam and butter from the starter section. Not bad. I would suggest folks place order from the starter right away with drinks because food service is really long. We placed orders for French toast, chai waffle, side of fried eggs, avocado toast and the one salad in the entire. Avocado toast was salty! Overloaded and salty. When we told this to the waitress she said that's how the chef planned for it to be!! The side of fried eggs was salty! I guess that was deliberate too?! The salad was ok. I have had my share of salads and I will say this was very ok. Chai waffle was good. French toast was ok! Not impressed with the food flavors for sure but ambience, drink menu variety seems great! I've been coming to the Abbey almost since they opened, and would consistently rate them five stars. This visit was, overall, no exception--service was exceptional, cocktails were amazing and nothing I could easily make at home, flatbread was great--so why the three stars? I've got some very strong feelings about chicken wings. Whether you roast, broil, grill, smoke, or fry them, they either need to be melt-in-your-mouth tender, or crispy. Either way, they need to be properly jointed. What I got was four WHOLE WINGS, unseparated, that were very lightly cooked--skin was still springy, unbearably chewy, and slightly slimy, and the meat was pink in places. They were tough to the point of being nearly inedible. If it wasn't for the mouthwatering jerk sauce I'd have sent them back. I'd still highly recommend the Abbey, but stay away from the wings. read more

Went for brunch. The seating is absolutely awful. More bar than restaurant, they only have high top tables with stools (no chair backs) making for a very uncomfortable eating experience. The food was okay, but it took almost 25 minutes for us to get our cheese board appetizer. We got the quiche, which looks amazing, but is completely overpowered with green pepper, making it really the only thing you taste. The Carmel Apple pancakes were good, although the sauce was more water than syrup which turned the pancakes into a mushy mess. I'd give the restaurant another try, but not for brunch - maybe at happy hour to sit at the bar (the only chairs in the place with backs). read more

I was so very excited to try this spot out after hearing people rave about it for years. I came here on a Sunday night to enjoy a few drinks with a friend, and although their cocktails are delicious, the food leaves much to be desired. We made a reservation, but turned out we really didn't need it. We sat near the door in the cozy alcove with a bench. Chilly by the door but I definitely enjoyed the vibe. I enjoyed the El Maximo and my friend had the Beast of Burden. We re-ordered both! I expected the El Maximo to have a more wintry flavor, but it was a more traditional--well made--margarita. We shared the hummus, which was a highlight of the evening! Would recommend. So very fresh and flavorful. I ordered the duck poutine, but was disappointed that the gravy was too thick and was poorly seasoned. It wasn't remarkable and I wouldn't order it again. read more

We knew we would be stopping in for Hill Farmstead IPA's, but we were pleasantly surprised at the food options here and the knowledge and expertise provided by the wait staff. The place was hard to find with the construction currently surrounding it. Mostly street parking available, but they also have a small lot. As mentioned, they are known for tapping Hill Farmstead beers. They also have a bottle menu which does include some Cantillon and Drie Fonteinen lambics (at a price). Our server was very informative regarding our dinner items for the night. Ingredients are fresh, locally sourced and reflect seasonal availability so there definitely were a lot of squash, sweet potatoes and pumpkin present. The highlights: -Shared Mediterranean ($20): a charcuterie board with freshly baked bread (with olives), a salad, almonds, serrano ham, olives (3 different kinds), pita bread, hummus, and marinated feta. Wow, this thing was gigantic! The pita bread, hummus, and ham were a great combo. -Mussels ($13): Maine mussels soaked in a milky curry-like sauce with a side of garlic bread. The boyfriend went to town on these! We did like the addition of sweet potatoes to add a creamy mouthfeel. -Gnocchi ($14): These were lightly fried! Still very thin outer layer and soaked in a pleasant sweet potato puree. Wild mushrooms, aged goat cheese, garlic, and leeks made these a very savory meal. The *Chimichurri Wings* also ordered were OK; very lemony and peppered. We were extremely pleased with our food and glad that we were feeling hungry and had enough sense to soak up all that good IPA with delicious food. read more

Sometimes I wish I could go back in time. Armsby once had the best beer list and food around. That had definitely changed. While they have a respectable beer list now, the last few times I've been there it's been very light. Even the euro beers are not the best of the best. It would have all been fine, until my memory was triggered. The $11 6.5% ipa was delivered in a 16oz tulip glass with almost 1/3 of the glass foam. This is definitely in their play book, to do whatever it takes not to fill the glass properly. The next was a $12 saison, which was good....but maybe a 4 oz pour. Just not cool. They don't publish the size of beer on the menu...so they can cheat it out of you. Tisk tisk. Food is average now. Soggy fries, no love. Fried chicken sandwich has a heavy sticky overly sweet sauce that they dunked the whole piece of chicken in. It was messy, too sweet and disappointing read more

I went to Armsby Abbey this week for an impromptu employee dinner with 19 co-workers. Our server was absolutely fantastic at managing our somewhat rowdy group! She was attentive, friendly and so patient. Our group is also hospitality professionals and we were so impressed by the ambiance, service and food! We were greeted with Prosecco and had pre ordered a few appetizers - all very good and nicely presented! The beer selection was fantastic and I will be back to try some other options in the future for sure! For dinner, a few of us shared the Mac n cheese, smash burger and chicken schnitzel - all of which hit the spot perfectly! Well done to the crew at Armsby Abbey! Can't wait to go back and try more! We were at the Worcester Art Museum and were hungry for lunch on a Sunday, so walked about 10 minutes to this place which I found on Yelp. While there was seating outside and possibly inside, we decided to sit at the bar. We just raved about the friendly, attentive, non-intrusive service we received from both the man and woman who served us. Having been to a wedding the previous evening, we did not try the amazingly large assortment of draft artisan beers, but there were a lot of them, in addition to bottled craft and regular beers. We ordered simple salads, soup, and sandwiches, which were fresh, well-prepared, with quality ingredients, and delicious. The service made this an a wonderful interstitial museum break. Went here Saturday for the restaurant week menu and was looking forward to the Coq Au Vin. The bread, winter salad, and hushpuppies were amazing, so much flavor and the salad was fresh. For the entree course I got the Coq Au Vin and husband got the Gnocchi with Beef. Portions were extremely small, although I understand this is more of a small plates place, but I felt they were even smaller than a Bocado's tapa (which is much less expensive). The beef in the gnocchi was braised and delicious. My Coq Au Vin was super boring, no flavor at all. Nobody asked us if we enjoyed our main course, although it was obvious I did not because I only took 3 bites of it. Dessert was a chocolate mousse and there were weird clumps in it so I did not eat it either. Drinks, however, were amazing! I had the Starry Night martini which had fun stars in it. I also ordered a lemon drop martini and a French 75 which were great too. Husband got the bourbon cocktail on the menu and loved it. Three stars for the drinks and apps, but probably wouldn't come again because food is such a hit or miss. read more

If you're looking to have a delicious charcuterie board with creamy cheeses and flavorful meats, then Armsby Abbey ISN'T the place for you. My friend and I went here and ordered 3 different cheeses and 3 meats (only 3 meats on the menu so we got all 3 to try) and it came with a spread of nuts, apple slices, a variety of breads a jam, and a honey. By all accounts, this looked like your standard charcuterie board, but as my friend and I started eating, she hesitated and inquired, "Is it just me, or does this taste..." to which I finished, "Completely bland and underwhelming?" "Glad we're on the same page." she then replied. One of the meats, a meat spread, tasted exactly like bacon fat and that's really all. The 2 other meats were not flavorful and the pickles, mustard and crostini did not compliment them in any way. The cheeses we got were nothing like the descriptions read (a few described as "creamy" and "velvety"). This was basically an attempt at a charcuterie board-something masquerading as a charcuterie board (a Halloween costume for a meat/cheese board perhaps?). We also ordered the hummus plate which we ate the majority of because we didn't like the rest of the food. It's pretty sad when the hummus has more taste and flavor than meats and cheeses. The best way to describe the food is bland and tasteless quite honestly. We decided to order the donut fritters for dessert (after all, we still had an appetite). The bowl came with 3 donut 'fritters' aka large deep fried donut balls. They didn't look like your typical 'fritter' by any means. There was some sauce on the bottom of the bowl. These donut 'fritters' were overcooked on the outside and completely doughey and undercooked on the inside. They were dry and difficult to eat. The fact that the sauce was on the bottom of the bowl meant that it barely covered any of the 'fritters' making it all the more dry. We had gotten a bottle of wine to split which was good and our server was also very timely and nice. In hindsight, this place is probably a good place to get drinks and a burger, but I don't think they should be serving anything other than basic pub food. read more

I like the beer selection sometimes. But the food is not good. The food is heavy on only salt and fat and sugar flavors. When we moved here from Oakland we tried it a bunch because people said it was that level, but its not even top 20 restaurants in Worcester. Once had a Jamaican "spicy" pork sandwich, was really bad actually. No spice, just sugar and grease. Worst pate I've ever had as well; worse than the packaged stuff you can get a price chopper. Marrow was the most pathetic portion I've even seen and just mediocre; best thing made in house. When I have to go there because my wife's friends (that have never eaten outside MA) I'm sure to order the charcuterie that is not made in house. I have not tried the brunch, but I must admit I'm afraid they will ruin my memories of bunch before MA. Good Luck! read more

Bartender Silas was attentive and made great drinks. The staff were all super friendly. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, but literally everything we tried was under seasoned and either too much or too little salt. It's the best restaurant in Worcester which, yes, is sort of saying something about Worcester, but also the food and drinks are genuinely very good, and though the service is, ah, variable, one can't complain too hard. There is generally space, and parking in the Woo ain't like parking in Boston. Worth a visit, and worth regular visits if you live nearby. read more

Bartender made me a killer cocktail after asking me a few questions. I didn't like the one on the menu I had just had and he came through with a better one from his back pocket. I won't eat here; they're not veg-friendly whatsoever and are too snooty to make exceptions or accept the challenge to make a good vegan dish. The servers (one in particular) glared at me for accidentally getting in her way. It's too bad, to use the bathroom you pretty much have to walk by two serving stations and the kitchen doorway. Overall I felt like I was getting glares for simply walking from my chair to the rest room and back. If you want friendly servers and chefs who are willing to make a damn good off the menu vegan-friendly dish, this ain't it chief. Go around the corner. I have been here for brunch a number of times and have been impressed every time. Stopped in the first time based on the other reviews on here and their tap list on Untappd. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so plan accordingly and look into getting a reservation, as I have had long waits before. The staff is inviting/friendly and knowledgable of the beers on tap. Speaking of if you are a craft beer fan and in the area, this is a must. They have a big selection of brews from New England, yet have plenty from further away as well. Think Trillium, Hill Farmstead, and the rare occasional Treehouse beer on draft for special occasions. If you choose a flight sampler of beers you will pay specific prices per the beer (so a flight could be $18+). I have tried some world class beers thanks to this place. Not a fan of beer, then enjoy a cocktail or better yet for brunch try one of their bloody marys. Secondly, to go along with your beverage of choice, they have an ever-changing brunch menu so check their website during the weekend you are going. The first time I went with a special of Pumpkin French Toast, it was rich with flavor and the pumpkin flavor was at just the right level. Easily some of the best french toast I have tried while out to eat. Then the second time I visited I went with the mac n' cheese. It seemed like a small portion at first, but it was packed full of so much that made it difficult to finish it. Based off of these two visits I would hazard a guess that no matter the food/drinks you end up deciding on, you will leave happy and full. On the other hand, your wallet will likely be closer to empty as this place could be seen as pricey. Though you may be expecting that for this area and the quality makes it worth the price honestly. read more

A MAZING. We came in Saturday after a great hike at Wachusett, excited that they carry Hull Farmstead (my SO follows beer LOL). Unbeknownst to both of us, their food is spectacular - it was Father's Day brunch and I got the mapled coffee (forget the exact name) and he got a beer. The coffee was delicious - I was told to stop drinking it like a coffee bc it contained bourbon - I think that's a sign of deliciousness right?! For brunch, I ordered the chocolate waffles and he got the breakfast sandwich. for a place that's not even a bbq spot, the pork in his sandwich was better than most bbq places we have even been to!! I'm usually a more savory type of gal, but the waffles were calling to me and I regret to say that none survived. They were so perfectly made with a mix of not too sweet and just sweet enough, with an orange maple syrup. The menu is small but the food is VERY good. It's a gastro-pub, and they have a great selection of beer and cocktails. They often do specials like brunch or holidays. They even close sometimes just to keep the business alive, which is very respectable and I'm glad they do that. read more
