October 2022 present idea; February 2023 commits to idea. Since, only delayed 80 times in 2.5-years, every two weeks having to track, chase, check in only to get, personally attacked, repeating excuses, misguided concepts, and lack of focus on the goal that isn't adding up. The only thing adding up is our stress, drama and pure exhaustion from working with Armor! As painful as this is to post, I feel compelled to share my extremely disappointing experience with Armor, a company and family member I trusted with a project close to my heart one that I have dedicated nearly two decades of hard work to reaching this phase. The agreement was to hire Armor Tech / David for $21,000 to manufacture a proprietary product based on my intellectual property, with signed agreements in place. I personally increased the quote by $6,000 - for a final total of $27,000 to support the level of commitment, minimize future disputes, and ensure the project's success by David with a strong starting point. After 23 months of further delays, videos, communications promising us completion by Thanksgiving of 2023, come New Years there was no progress again! - the fear and reality started to creep in that Armor was unable or unwilling to finish this product with us and today we are still without! Despite David, I was shocked, deeply embarrassed by his unprofessional behavior, lack of integrity, and blatant disregard for my team and our damages he has caused us to incur over the past 3 years and what limitations are ahead due to his future damages caused. My faith in Armor, their ethical business practices, initially fueled by their enthusiasm for an "easy" project where "idiots" previously created comparable products, was quickly shattered and never restored. We never thought that we would never see any of our equipment, information, or any deliverables, nor to be given them when asked for them to be returned. No workability or actionable steps by David for a resolution, remediation is extremely deliberate with malicious intent, proving this company can't be trusted!! We brought my sons laptop in to have it looked at. I explained the problem that he was having to two different associates because no one bothered to write it down. We were charged 45.00 upfront... ok... The problem we dropped it off for they didn't find??? Ok... whatever... but went ahead and preformed a bunch of scans and what not and charged me an additional 55.00. I would have appreciated them giving me that option instead of just assuming it was fine to charge me more money. This is my 3rd time in 5 years bringing in a device to ARMOR, and I've finally learned my lesson to not return. In 2021 they wasted weeks of my time, telling me they could fix my charging port issues on my phone, only for them to wait until I arrived to tell me they couldn't fix it. Now, i've brought my phone in for a display replacement and i'm still having the same "dead pixel" issues and NEW battery issues (that weren't there prior to service). Because we live in an area with frequent power outages, my older computer usually doesn't put up with that and goes dead. Since moving to Illinois, we have come to rely upon Armor for our computer/laptop/game device glitches. So happy to not only have our computers repaired each time, but when we get them back, they run so much better than before! This is a thoughtful crew - they even retrieved a DVD I had been playing (before the power outage) and put it in a special DVD sleeve for me. They were not able to locate my power supply. this was a little upsetting to me because he seems to try to insinuate that I did not bring one in because it was not with my laptop. He did, however, find me a replacement. My original PS Just disappeared no explanation maybe you should label any accessories to prevent this from happening in the future. read more

Dave is both unprofessional and incompetent. He claims to do everything from fix gaming consoles and computers to building websites and providing IT services. We hired him to do some work for my company and he literally made me feel that my safety was threatened. He communicated to me in a way that was totally unprofessional. He did a terrible job for us, but more importantly, he talked poorly about other businesses, he made me feel stupid because I did not know everything there was to know about hosting, and he insulted me. I have done business with literally countless companies in DeKalb County, some good, some great, some not so good. This experience was an all time low. So far I am not pleased with the services provided here. I dropped my iPhone 5c yesterday afternoon. My first red flag was that there was no plain glass replacement option. Apparently the LCD and glass are connected (as told over the phone to me when I called to ask about their glass replacement services) I have seen glass replacment ads for ubreakifix in Geneva they ALSO offer glass and LCD replacments there. My glass did not affect the LCD when I brought my phone in. Everything worked fine minus the glass that was fractured. I dropped my phone off and the woman at their front desk was nice. She said it sould be a few hours to replace but since I paid an express fee it would be finished sometime today. I walked in a few hours later for the pickup and I was told when the man (I completely forgot his name) fixed my phone the power/lock button would not work so I had to wait two more hours for them to fix that. I went back in and I was told my motherboard had a micro crack, the power button and volume keys do not work and its from when I dropped it. I know that this is not true because all of those things worked before I left my phone in their hands. After I left I noticed more was wrong than was was told to me. The sliding button that outs the phone on silent does not work and my home button is not in alignment with the glass screen. My boyfriend called and was told to call tomorrow and ask for Jeff. I will update and re rate if all goes well. If all does not go well I will not update and assume that there was not happy outcome. read more

Responsible, responsive, competent and considerate. Their staff is very knowledgeable. Came in here on a Monday when my computer screen wouldn't come on but the fan would run. They were able to tell me immediately that my laptop was totally dead but that's the only good thing I have to say about this place. I asked to just have my data backed up on the external hard drive I brought and it would be $50 but if there was more than [so many gigs], it would cost extra. They told me they'd call in at the very latest the following Monday to let me know how much it would cost, and they also took my boyfriend's phone number as a backup in case I didn't answer. A week and a half passed and neither of us received a call so I went back and they said they called and left a message the week before. Turns out, they had my correct number but typed it wrong on the print out so they left a message for someone else. And they didn't even try calling my boyfriend. I wasn't prepared to pay the almost $100 they asked for because I never got the call stating the price so I was forced to pay it. Also, if you don't claim your stuff after 30 days, they sell it. So if I didn't go back, they would have sold my stuff even though they called the wrong number due to their own error read more

I'm giving a two NOT because their work is bad- technically they do good work, although I had to wait extra time because they screwed up my phone repair. I'm giving them a two because when I walk in, as a woman, they treat me like I'm from the stone age and haven't seen anything with electricity. Unfortunately for them I've been on computers and technology my entire life and have taken apart more trinkets than probably half their staff. Full disclaimer: I've only done business here once so it may have been an off day for the staff. I brought my laptop here to get looked at. Nothing was completed when I was told, calls that were suppose to be made to me never were, and the solution (and price) changed as time went on. Michelle, the woman at the front, was very pleasant and listened to my concerns. She's worth a star alone. Because of her, I decided not to get my laptop fixed but was still willing to purchase a replacement with them. Miles, the technician sent to help me, was the same that had been working on my computer. I'm not sure if he was having a bad day or upset about my laptop, but he was abrupt and condescending when I asked questions. Took it to armor and they worked on it soon as I dropped it off. It was a pain to fix I know, but they tried their best and updated me on the progress. I brought my Sony Vaio laptop into Andy at the Rochelle location for a basic headphone jack repair. Unfortunately, something went wrong during the repair which made the laptop virtually unusable. I believe it was something pertaining to the ribbon cables. Regardless of the source, it was an infuriating set of circumstances. However, I do not blame Andy for this at all. The Vaio S series has been known to be extremely problematic when you disassemble it. I also previously had the motherboard replaced in China which certainly may have led to this. In essence, those things should not be taken apart. After disclosing the problem to me, the first thing Andy did was offer to back up my files and transfer them on to an equivalent (if not better) refurbished laptop from the shop for free. He also offered to continue to work on the laptop labor free if I was set on keeping the Vaio - which I was as I have an external battery pack for it. Andy worked tirelessly on trying to get my laptop back up an running. He constantly updated me on his progress and what he was going to try next. It was a tricky fix, but after replacing a few components here and there, it was up and running smoothly in a week or so. He even threw in a complimentary virus scan. I felt compelled to write a review because of the way Andy went above and beyond to fix my laptop. Sure, you could frame the situation in way that vilifies him for creating a bigger problem on a simple fix, but I certainly don't believe that was the case. I could tell that he was genuinely just as upset as I was. Andy didn't just concede the situation, but instead felt compelled to fix my Vaio; free of charge. He conveyed a level of integrity and respect that you rarely see in the service industry - which leads me to assume that sentiment is also prevalent at the other branches. That said, I highly recommend Armor Technologies for your repairs. 5/5 read more

I have been having tons of problems with a computer that I just built and all of the troubleshooting I did on my own resulted in nothing but frustration. I brought in the computer to Armor Tecnologies with specific instructions about what problems I was having with it. I received a phone call a few days later telling me that the OS wouldn't boot up properly and that they would have to reinstall it. Sometime later we received a phone call saying that the computer was ready to go, but that they didn't find anything else wrong with it. I picked it up and was watching a video at home, when the exact same problem occured again. When we called them again, They gave us some more instructions on what to do, and wanted photos when the problem occured so they could better understand it. I was very dissapointed that we paid this business a hundred dollars to reinstall the OS, which I can do on my own in about forty minutes, and never bothered to do any investigative work at all. As I never mentioned having a problem with the OS, I would have thought that it might give someone pause to question why that would happen in the first place. Clearly that was not very important, because even though, I basically told them how the problem could be created, they were never able to find it at all. I am not blind to the fact that ocassionaly computers are very difficult to diagnose and would result in a cheaper experience by merely replacing the computer from scratch. If I had felt that they actually tried to fix my computer, my tone would be very different. I am convinced that the only thing they did, was perform a basic task anyone with instructions could carry out by themselves. I am willing to bet that they don't make their money on diagnostics, but rather tangible procedures that they can charge for more effectively. In short, if you need a specific service provided, this place might actually be able to save you some time and frustration if you are not that computer savvy. If instead you need real diagnostic work, I would stay far away from this place. You are likely to encounter a maze of BS laced with false hope and money that would have been better spent literally anywhere else. read more

I was quoted $105 for a Macbook Pro keyboard replacement to which I agreed. The next day, Kyle, a technician called me back to say the job would actually cost $203. Working in IT myself, I knew I could do the repair for less $ and went to reclaim the laptop, but he wouldn't return it unless I paid a $35 "diagnostic" fee. It's part of their policy if the repair is not purchased. I argued that I would not have left the computer in the first place except they quoted me the lower price a day earlier. Instead of fighting the battle, I paid the additional $98 for the repair. After the repair, I noticed the computer was running slowly and the bottom felt hot to the touch, so I opened the case and found both internal cooling fans disconnected!!! That could have led to another, even more costly repair. I reconnected the fans and fortunately there doesn't seem to be any permanent damage. Overall bad experience. read more

Ugh, this place is terrible. I brought my computer (HP All in One) here to get fixed because the screen wasn't working. This place took several weeks trying to figure out what the problem was, and ordering different parts that took like weeks to come in. After a month, they told me they couldn't figure out what was wrong with the computer. They had tried replacing the screen and something else I can't name,and couldn't get it to work. So I said ok, I'll take my computer back. He said no, u gotta pay the 39$ diagnostic fee first. I said, 'But you haven't figured out what's wrong with it. After a month, all you know are two things that aren't wrong with it.' So then he says, 'Well, you can leave your computer here and abandon it and that will cover the diagnostic fee'. I said, that's not fair'. And he says, 'well, we spent like a month trying to work on it and trying to figure out what's wrong with it'. I seriously think that's how this place stays in business. They take computers, tell people they're unfixable, and refurbish them to resell them. Definitely filing a complaint with the IL Attorney General over this. If u can't fix the problem and don't know what it is, you can at least give me back the computer. It shouldn't be held hostage to ignorance. read more

I had the opportunity to check out Armor Tech in Geneva recently as I needed help with a laptop I was about to trash as the performance had significantly declined. I was looking for a place that could give quick turn around as we always seem to be online for one thing or another. I had walked past Armors store front several times and thought I would give them a try. I was quickly greeted by Adam and told him of the issues we were having and that I needed it back the same day. I thought for sure I would be told it would be days before I would get it back and was pleasantly surprised when he told me he could actually do it. Adam delivered on his promise. He did a great job hitting a tight timeline and more importantly returned our laptop performing like new. I would recommend Armor to anyone looking for quick, courteous, expert service. read more

Took in an external hard drive for data recovery on a Friday. Their website said "free diagnostic" (it has since been updated). They said the work should be done the following Monday. "Work" was not complete until the following Friday, after multiple follow-up calls on my part. No data recovered, and they recommended someone else. Should have gone with the other company and saved the $45. read more

I could go on and on about the great level of customer service! I was visiting the area from out-of-state and had several meetings throughout the day, and my computer is a necessity. I came in because it had completely stopped working and they immediately began working on my machine to try and resolve the problems. They tried everything that they absolutely could to get my computer up and running, however the part that was needed was required to be ordered. Luckily, they were kind kind enough to let me utilize one of the refurbished machines that they had on hand, so that I can complete the last few tasks that I had for the day. So my laptop had an issue with the screen, and I took it in after seeing the (mostly positive) reviews. They did fix it, but I have to say I'm not impressed with the way that they went about it. Originally, it was going to be a week to fix. However, after a week I went in and that they needed to order parts still. Okay, whatever. Sometimes prognoses are wrong, just please figure out what's wrong and fix it. Another 2 weeks, still no word. I go back in, and they have to order the parts again; which I'm forced to sign off on... again. Number one, if I already authorized you to fix my computer, why did you need additional authorization to buy parts? Number two, if you needed my say so to go forward, why did I not receive any call at any point? The only reason that they went forward with getting new parts is because I went back in to ask for progress because they didn't call me. I had to pay more for the parts, but that isn't what bothers me. When was I supposed to find out about the change in plans? Another week went by, and this time the man working told me that the place they ordered from just... Didn't deliver the parts? Bush league. How can a legitimate business have such big issues getting things delivered? I explained to him that at this point my computer had been in their shop for a month, and he offered to overnight the parts. Thanks, but why did it take me coming in and complaining that it had been 4 times the original estimate time for this change? Finally, the middle of what was the 5th week that it was in their shop, I got a call that it was ready to be picked up. This was, over 5 weeks, only the 2nd time that they reached out to me in any way. So, to the guys over at Armor, thanks for fixing my laptop, but you really need to do better when it comes to customer service. If there's going to be a delay, I shouldn't have to call myself and figure it out. I shouldn't have to visit the store every week to make sure that you don't need me to say it's okay to order more parts. I don't think that that is being unreasonable. You can do the best work in the world but if you're not going to do it in a timely manner and conduct yourselves professionally, then how do you expect to maintain a returning customer base? I hope for the sake of Armor that my case was an anomaly and not the norm, I don't see myself returning to the DeKalb location in the future. read more

Brought in an iPad Pro because a plastic connector broke off in the charging port. After hearing nothing for a week, I went to see them. Not ready. Another week goes by. They're waiting for a part. Another week goes by. They received the wrong part. I let it slide for 3 weeks and went in. Sorry, can't fix it. $20, please. Sent the iPad off to a professional outfit in Michigan. They found ribbon cable missing a solder point, charging port not soldered back on, the port is for an iPad Pro 9" instead of for a 12" model and a metal plate missing. Took 3 weeks but was given progress status every week. Fixed nicely. So, I paid ArmorTech $20 to ruin my iPad?! Would I recommend ArmorTech? NO! read more

I've been going to these guys for years and their service used be be excellent. I moved away for two years and when I came back they had changed names although it was the same owner (who is actually super nice and recognized me immediately). I expected the same quality of work. My laptop was slow and had some malware on it. I brought it in, payed $90 and when I got my laptop back it was worse than when I brought it in. When I called to ask them to fix it correctly, they said they would have to charge me for labor again!! I was very disappointed. This place is a scam and a rip off!!! I have had a few devices repaired here mainly because there isn't much competition cost wise in the area. A few months back I had the glass cover to my phone camera replaced. When I picked it up it was chipped. So I waited and pointed to it to the tech that repaired it and he popped in a new one in under 10 minutes yet my phone had been there all day for the initial service. This was after I had to call them earlier and remind them that they owed me the repair and that I had prepaid for it. The most recent and last time I will ever go here was at the end of July when I had my fiancé take in our iPad screen to be repaired. I didn't want to go to them but we were on a time crunch and needed the repair even though the cost was ridiculous. $130 for a screen repair. We were told when we dropped the ipad off on a Friday that it would be ready the following Tuesday. Low and behold Tuesday comes around and no word so my fiancé popped in and we were told the next day it would be done. Come Wednesday it still wasn't done and we were patient and kindly asked for a discount as the service we were told was going to be done Tuesday still hadn't happened. The tech there told my fiancé that because we didn't have anything in writing saying that our repair was going to be done when they told us it would be, meant that there wasn't really anything they could do. So basically their word doesn't mean much of anything. It took me calling again Thursday and explaining that we were leaving town the next day to actually get our device back....6 days after dropping it off. I have had a previous iPad screen replaced same day and within an hour for $90. This business is overpriced and treat their customers poorly. We picked up our device and paid the full $130 as no courtesy discount was given. From now on we will go out of our way not to support this business. My desktop was running slow so I took it to ARMOR for a tuneup. I had worked with them in the past and was happy with their work. I was told a week later that the system would not boot up and it couldn't be fixed. It worked when I dropped it off but after the Armor techs applied their magic it became unusable. Snare Systems in DeKalb, IL has nice serivce but the quality of items are terrible. I brought in my Xbox 360 to Snare Systemsto have a red ring repair. They repaired my Xbox only to find the next day it doent work, Apparently the DVD drive dosent work. before my Xbox was broken it had no problem reading disk. I gave Snare Systems and told them about my problem and they told me this was the problem i told them and they told me sorry we cant do that because we don"t garente that it will work. So i Believe that Snare Systems is not the place to take Xbox360. read more
