I didn't know you had to remove a lot of components and pretty much get to the bare head. Well, with his experience, he was able to close the valves and get a good clamp on it so he could get a clean cut on the head. He called me back in a couple of hours once it was done. From the decking process, lots of aluminum material gets into the nooks and crannies. I had to use an air compressor to remove most of the loose aluminum. I was able to install the cylinder head and now that car is running with no issues with leaking from the head gasket. Excellent work and a great price! I'd go back for more work to be done.

To my surprise, he was really communicative! Although I got a hold of him, I don't suggest you call him on Saturday, as most people usually wouldn't do business on Saturday. Anyway, we shot emails back and forth and I received my CNC quote very fast. He made a sample and we met in person to review it. I gave him the OK and it was that easy. As soon as it was ready, he notified me and shipped it out to me at no extra cost on top of the invoice price! Great service! I got my pieces back yesterday and today I emailed him with another project already. Obviously he and Hasten are my go-to manufacturers now!

Jerry at Ace Machine was very polite and let me know that he was backed up about 1.5-2 months and would likely start after the 2022 holidays. I agreed and dropped off my 4.8 engine. What happened next is infuriating. In early to mid January I called Jerry to see where he was on my engine and I got the same story, still backed up with other projects etc etc, a few weeks later, same thing. When I called back in March, I got a snarky Jerry who said, you can come get your engine if you want so I did. My engine was wrapped up when I dropped it off, Jerry unwrapped it and took a look at it so he know very well what he was getting. When I picked the engine up, the engine was wrapped just like when I dropped it off but I made the mistake of trusting him, what I got back was a piece of crap engine block that he clearly swapped out. Shame on me for not checking.

If you need something quick go else where. I assume they get so much business the wait is long. Mine about a month to complete. If its just heads I believe it would take about a week or two. I'd give it 5 stars, but because there is some lack of attention to detail and unexpected charges. I brought in valve seals for the valve job. Instead they charged me for their own seals. I asked why wasn't the seals I provided used? Answer it fit right in. Not sure what that means, but I ended up not getting back the seals I brought in. I'll have to go back and ask them for it when I return.

I'm not sure how to rate this shop because they have done some excellent work for me and have a…read moregood reputation. Ray has been good about working with me and will give it to you straight. On the other hand one of the assistant managers gave me some bad info that cost me. I had finished building my 350 Chevy and while breaking it in i pulled a rocker stud. I noticed alot of water in my oil. When i asked weather the press in studs go into the water jackets his reply was no, which isn't correct. And because of this i ended up having to disassemble the engine and have the cylinders pressure tested because i thought i had a cracked block. All cylinders checked good. I decided to have the stud fixed (which could have been done while still in the truck.) The new screw in street stud fixed the problem. I spent over 20 hrs of my labor plus cost of pressure test, head gaskets ect because of his bad advice. My advice is, if you are not sure get a second opinion no matter how "good" the machinist is. May try Waynes next time. If your reading this Ray, make sure your managers know their stuff. Rating is a mixed bag.
