Finally got inside and asked the manager to waive the requirement to buy 2 items on the menu. When I bought my ticket, I promised to comply with their policy and buy 2 items from the menu. Improv promised to start at 9:45 PM. Improv wants me to keep my end of the deal but the won't keep their end of the deal. This ain't no Monopoly money and I will not wait to see a disrespectful comedian. Money back because I will get kicked out tonight. I attended a comedy show here about a week ago, when Sherry Sheppard was the highlight. The show was great, however this particular location was not my cup of tea. Let me start from the beginning. If you buy your ticket online ahead of time, you are charged with a delivery fee, and they deliver it to your email. If you want a "front seat", it's an additional $10. The venue set up was terrible and cramped. God forbid you have to pee mid show, it's literally a maze to get out. There's a two drink minimum. I also ordered chips & queso. Came to see Brandon T. Jackson and it was great! Definitely was laughing the whole night between him, and the two opening comedians. It wasn't too crowed and everyone was having a good time. The space was a lot smaller and intimate than expected, but it was a good size for a comedy show. We sat in the preferred seating section and it was right up next to the stage. Was really nice to have such good seats, and thankfully none of the comedians called us out! (That was our fear). The food was good and the drinks were great. Ended up spending way more than expected because you had to order two items/person. We got two drinks and the calamari and had to get one more item, it was towards the end of the show so we just ordered a bottle of water (what a waste). It was kinda hard for me to find the actual building. I'm not sure if there was even a sign outside (maybe I just missed it) but I had to ask valet where the building was and it was on the second level above jimmy johns and the pizza place on the corner. Not the best Improv I've been to. The one in Denver has been the best establishment by far! My friends got there a little early so we can get good seats but they didn't allow you to choose where you sat like they do in Denver. They sat us down with a huge party but we got there before they did and they got there food and drinks before us (which was bullshit). Our server (Maverick) overcharged us and he wasn't as available to us as he claimed to be. We also gave him a 20% tip, not knowing there was already a 18% gratuity added to our bill until we left. That was frustrating and I'm still salty about them seating us with other people (there was 3 of us). They told us there weren't enough tables, which was crap because we came early and during the show there was a table for 4 with only one person sitting there. read more

PROS: 1. The Improv name means popular comics visit regularly. Wait long enough and your favorite will make an appearance. 2. The Arlington Improv showroom is a large rectangle, and most seats have a great view of the stage, even if you have to flip your chair around (facing away from your table) to see the comic. The back of the room is a tier higher, so people in the front half aren't blocking your view. There are no view-blocking columns in the show room (like at the Addison Improv). 3. All the box office needed was my ID to retrieve tickets purchased online. CONS: 1. Automatic 18% "S/C" (Service Charge) on your bill. Our server wrote "this goes to the club, not the server" on our ticket, so I asked for clarification from a manager. He said it's standard practice, and is posted at the entrance, and that all ticket fees go straight to the comic. First off, the ticket purchase itself included a "service fee" which goes to the club, so that was an outright lie from a manager. Second, he confirmed the S/C is for the club and not the server, so you are expected to pay 18% to the club, then 18% or more for gratuity, for a total of almost 40% extra on top of your 2-item-minimum food & refreshments bill. Note that the signs throughout the club do mention the automatic 18% charge, but do NOT specify that they are for the club and not servers. I made very clear that if I'd known that coming in, I'd have turned around, gotten a ticket refund, and left. The manager removed the charge "this one time" even though I've had to argue this before. Don't put up with being gouged this way; speak up, DFW. 2. There is a 2-item minimum. This is a standard thing throughout DFW stand-up comedy clubs. Just be warned that the food isn't anything special. I'd have been fine with a beer and chicken strips, except that I was forced to purchase water. (see #3) 3. Free tap/glass water is not available. Our server informed us that it's their "policy" to ONLY sell bottled water. So even if you're buying alcohol with your food, and just need the water to dilute your BAC/sober up, or to just wash your food down, it's going to cost you. This is ridiculous, and no one else does it. OVERALL The Improv name means great comedy talent, but the experience has been repeatedly ruined by having to debate their ridiculous Service Charge and club policies that gouge customers. I'm not returning to the Arlington Improv until they reconsider every one of these customer-unfriendly practices. DFW: Let your favorite comedians know that you were unhappy with the club; they have a choice of where to appear, and they listen to their fans. read more

I just learned after visiting the Improv that a 2 item per person minimum and an automatic 18% gratuity on all tabs does not inspire quality food or good service. At our table we ordered the spinach artichoke dip, onion rings, and chicken tender basket. The spinach dip tastes like it came straight from a bag heated in the microwave and the toasted bread chips it came with were stale. The onion rings appeared to have been purchased from the frozen foods section at the local grocery store and dropped in the fryer. Worst of the food was the chicken tenders. I could get better quality at the local gas station. The food was bad but the wait staff was worse. The quality of service was the worst I have ever had at ANY restaurant. In the couple of hours we were there we managed to wait up to 15 minutes for drinks to arrive, have food brought to us with no napkins or silverware, then eat off napkins because no plates were brought to us to split up appetizers. When we got our tables tabs we then noticed that the waitress had the audacity to write next to the line for the 18% gratuity "goes to club not server". Really? I can't even imagine writing that on someone's tab. In summary, if you are looking for a place with bad service and low-quality overpriced food this is it. I'm a little disappointed in my last visit to the Arlington Improv. I'm not sure where to start because from the moment we walked in the door there were issues and problems. First, we arrived early because it was a surprise birthday celebration with a party of 4, well now we can't be seated unless the whole party is there because if the other couple shows up later they would have to be seated somewhere else. Really? REALLY? We can't go in and be seated at a table for four and reserve the other two seats for our group? Okay, whatever management thinks is best (although later on in the evening I saw another party come in that was larger than ours that had people staggering in up until the show started). Then there's a new 'we can't give you complementary water, you have to buy it rule' again, REALLY? You already have a two item minimum per person and now we can't have complementary water with the alcohol we just purchased? Interesting. Again, later in the evening the group next to us had nice glasses of water. They tried to blame it on a new server, but what needs to be blamed is the stupid rule. What's the difference between whether you give me a glass of water and if I purchase it? $3.50 for the Improv on top of the two items you've already MADE each person purchase. Oh, but that's not the end of it. So now there's an automatic gratuity added to the ticket. Probably because they know their service is sub-par and their waitstaff wouldn't get tipped otherwise. When I inquired about the automatic gratuity my server, Shannon, informed that that's how it's always been. Um, no sweetie, it hasn't...we've been to both the Addison and Arlington Improv venues and have never had an automatic gratuity, not even at the Improv in Houston! Service - No Stars Food - Didn't want anything on menu Theatre - Sucked -One Star (Yes, that's a minus!) You call to reserve a seat, but only get your seat assignment when you arrive to pick up your ticket. So first come, first good seats. A word to the wise. Of course that means you have to stand in line, so what's the point of a reservation? If you get stuck in the mid level (we were table 77), they you get screwed for decent seats. There are two rows of tables practically on top of each other, and your seat on one side faces the back wall instead of the stage. Not too great for viewing, although depending on the show, this may be a blessing. There's a two drink minimum, and depending on your distance from the end of the aisle, you may not see your waitress until the show is half over. That and the waitress bending over the table in front of you and next to you and writing up the ticket and it printing off on her portable printer, you may miss part of the show. I find these annoyances too distracting to enjoy the show, but I went expecting stand up comedy and got a Broadway one-man show called "Defending the Caveman". According to its website, its being performed all over the world at various places, and its a scripted show, a comedy play. So where's the Improv? Even so, the play was amusing in parts and so was the performer, but it was NOT hilarious. If it hadn't been for the problems with seating and getting your drinks, I would have enjoyed it much more. read more

What a nice comedy club! I came here with Yelper Elizabeth N. :) I honestly wasn't expecting much but this place totally changed my mindset on what a comedy club should look like. It's so clean! They have a 2 item minimum so I went for iced tea and fried jalapeno chips. The jalapenos weren't spicy at all which was a bummer. it was one of the cheaper items on the menu. I left there not feeling broke and quite entertained. I was fortunate to have Bobby Lee as the headliner because that guy is crazy hilarious. Tip: Get there early to secure good seats. My husband and I went to this location for a late Valentine's date. Our show started at 11:30 but we were told on the website and the tickets that the DOORS would open at 10:30. We want good seats so we made a point to get there at 10:30. Once we arrive, there's 3 lines formed outside. Which was confusing because there was no signs to display what line was for what tickets. So, once they yell out if you haven't gotten your tickets from the box office stand in line A, then the cashier tells you which line to proceed to... I couldn't believe this was happening. We arrived early ONLY TO STAND IN TWO LINES for hours??? It took about an hour to get to the cashiers. Once there the next 3 lines didn't start moving in until around 12:15!! We stood OUTSIDE in line, in the cold from 10:30 - 12:15, ridiculous!! They didn't care what time you got in that long line, they placed individuals in line (I'm assuming) in the order that you purchased your tickets. Which would be fine if they didn't have customers standing outside for hours. We should have been allowed to enter in the order of arrival and standing/waiting in those long lines. The display of customer service was horrible!! They need to come up with a better system.. Establishments are not having their customers stand in line like that anymore. It's 2016, I attend Addison's Improv frequently and I've never experienced anything remotely like this.. The show was funny, food and drinks were good. But that line was a complete fail!! I was pretty impressed driving up the area that the Improv is in. It's really new looking and has all sorts of shops and restaurants. The improv building was nice with a box office outside, what seems like a hostess stand, and the bar area to your right. The showroom wraps around so that you enter behind the hostess stand/ after the bathrooms, and exit into the bar. Not sure if everyone's show follow this protocol, but here's how we were handled: Show up to the box office and give them your ticket confirmation. Show id and receive your receipt that has your table number. I have no clue how they base where they seat you, but our seats were pretty good. When it's time to be seated, a server will meet you at the door and take you to your table. I was in a party of 2, and we were sat at a table with 4 with a random couple. Kinda odd, but I probably should have seen it coming. There are 3 tiers of seating, starting with floor seats. There were some large tables down there that were suitable for groups. Along the divider ran 1/2 booths. I wouldn't want to be seated in the chairs on the other side of the booth. You'd have to turn your chair around and have no use of a table. On the other side of the divider, now in the second tier were 4 seaters that were perpendicular to the stage. This is where I was, directly in front of the stage. Good spot, I thought. Small walk way, and then it repeated with a 1/2 booth along the divider to the third tier and chairs that needed to be turned around. Drinks were pricey, but that was to be expected. I drank Dos XX for 4.50 a pop. Our server always seemed to be there when I needed her, very good management from her. Martinis or "fancy" cocktails ran about 8 or 9 bucks and wine was in the 7 to 9 range. There was a large group in front that felt it necessary to interject with "hey it's my birthday!" or some other inane comment at any given second. They stood up and tried to interact with the comedian, this proved annoying and sidetracked the stand up a bit. Every show is going to have their own set of ass holes who think it's a private performance, but I feel as if the employees could have done more about it. They came and talked to one lady who just would not sit down and I suppose threatened to kick them out. The woman's bathroom was pretty clean and had about 5 stalls or so. The same drunkies from the party in the front were making a ruckus and were seriously crawling on the floor underneath the stall dividers and one managed to burst out her stall without zipping her pants. I got an undesired eye full of stretch marks and a ratty thong. Awesome. I'm not positive that smoking is banned inside, but I didn't see or smell any smoke while I was there. Great plus in my book. I liked the venue for comedy and will be keeping my eye open for the upcoming acts. It's a smaller venue so the act feels a bit more personal. read more

The improv places have odd rules on place to keep people spending money and to have the place appear packed. While most of that is understandable I had a slight issue with the assigned seats and drink minimum. Didn't get the food, but it didn't look like anything I HAD to have. To say the venue left a lot to be desired would be an accurate statement. They do get some great talent coming through and I laughed so hard that's really all that mattered to me when I left. Other reviews suggest you eat elsewhere. I disagree. They have a good casual menu, fairly priced. Someone objected to $9 drinks. That's completely misleading. The only drinks that high are multiple shot tourist drinks like Kamikazes. Beer prices were under $5. My only complaint was the high sound volume. The basic level was painful already, and whenever a comic yelled something for dramatic effect (which is quite frequent), God help you. aoki is correct. There is a *$5 per ticket* online reservation fee which is preposterous. Unless you're seeing a name brand act, go with the essentially 100% discount occasionally offered to those on their email list, making your ticket cost ... yeah, $5 per ticket. read more

You get what you pay for. As a member of Fill a Seat Dallas, I paid nothing for these seats. Ok...I guess I got more than what I paid for. The headliner was very talented. The opening comedian was ok. My boyfriend referred to the middle comedian as "painful." I didn't think he was that bad, but I wouldn't pay to see him. The service was horrible. We got there about 30 mins early. For the 30 mins we were there and about 90 mins of showtime, our waitress visited our table 3 times. I felt a little bad for her, because I think they had severely understaffed. It was Thursday night and a poor showing (the headliner kept referencing that there were 27 people there...which if not exact was pretty close.) I think they had only 1 waitress working the entire room. The good news is that the very infrequent visits meant that she didn't enforce the "2 item purchase minimum." I wasn't in the mood for a beer or a $3.50 sofa and my overpriced mixed drink that I ordered for my first drink was very bland and not worth repeating. I'd return again with free tickets, because we really enjoy comedy clubs. But I'd never actually pay for a ticket there, unless the headliner were someone I was absolutely dying to see. read more

If you can ignore the food that is below the quality of most fast-food restaurants, the pitiful service, and the faulty stage lighting, maybe you can enjoy being gouged on the bill too at this Improv. But my server putting my food in front of me and then being unable to find anyone to get silverware until the food was stone cold did not set as well. Later she kept showing up asking if I needed anything after I sent the 3/4 of the food back to the dumpster, and never failing to time this so as to interrupt something I wanted to hear from the person on stage. Loved it when I didn't get the name of the comic coming to the stage because of this! And BTW did you know that adding a gratuity that cannot be refused is actually not legal when the customer is not informed in advance? Considering my service - I am owed the gratuity for enduring last night for enduring it. If aggravating the audience wasn't bad enough even the performer had to deal with issues. Either the lighting tech did not check his equipment before the show, or was totally incompetant. More than one of the stage lights kept flickering, dimming and brightening randomly throughout the evening. It got so bad during the last act that the comedian was commenting on it. Oh, and the overbearing sound system too - bring earplugs for the all too high volume before the show starts. The only good things about patronizing this location is that the acts were good, the lines of sight are better than other clubs, and the front door staff was very nice and professional ...... giving no clue what to expect once in the house. Venue: Nice, clean, well decorated and intimate. Comedy: Superb. Local comedian opened, then an intermediate guy from Australia. Then finally Pete Correale from New York. Funny, filthy, really good comedy. Food/Beverage: Nachos were great and a large portion for $8.95. The wings were VERY disappointing for the same price. 8 tiny wings that appeared to have been plucked from sparrows. And the taste wasn't all that special either. Most egregious pricing though, was the $3.50 for a fountain soft drink. Really?? Ticket prices: If we had paid full price and then spent another $30 on our food and beverage we would have been quite disappointed in the value. However, we got our tickets from Goldstar and paid less than 50% of the face value so instead of the evening costing us $80, it cost us $50 and that, to me, made it worth while. We went last Thursday. They no longer offer Sutter Home Muscato. We just ordered 4 bottles of water and that was $17.50. The bottles are $3.50 each and they automatically charge a tip. The Comedians were mediocre at best. The headliner was John Henton from the TV show "Living Single". We did not get there early enough to get our favorite seats which are dead center. It was just as well because there was not a lot of funny material. John Henton asked us during his act why we were drinking water. We told him ware doing the California thing. I later looked on stage and noticed that John Henton was also drinking water so what's good for the goose is good for the gander. We really hope they book some funny acts in the future. We ordered and received them expecting to order food later since he didn't ask. Noticing that the other waiters were bring food. Trying to get his attention in such a busy and congested environment was very hard. Finally after show starts we order, Chicken Fingers that were big and good with the Artichoke Dip, small and cheesy. It took too long for the food to come out. Next time we'll eat before or at the bar. Sheryl Underwood = 5 stars, Aw hell no! Double She came out on top of her game and I do mean on top! From speaking about our Troops, the President, Oprah, Gary Coleman, Emanuel Lewis, Tiger Woods and her qualified skills in blow jobs she really and always does pleased the audience. Sherly engaged with buying certain audience members drinks, toasting with everyone in recognizing our military and asking for suggestions with questions. We went to the second show out of three and she was very wasted ( the more liquor, the better) and not holding shit back. While she let us know of our political mistakes and how to perform a damn good blow job I found myself locked into everyone move and word she made and said. As time ticked and he concern drew by her not being able to be sober enough to do the last show I hated to see her leave the stage. My belly hurts with a laughter pain to recover til the next time I see Sheryl. The show was crazy awesome.. read more

You have great entertainers and I saw Pablo Francisco there recently. They bringing great talent and are very very good on the customer service and. I'm a big fan of live comedy so I'm familiar with the Improv establishment. I've been to Improv locations on both coasts and the midwest. I bought tickets to see Sheryl Underwood and flew to see it with friends. We arrived an hour or so and waited in line with everyone else. I purchased the regular tickets vs the VIP tickets which guaranteed seating close to the stage. My friends, who live in Dallas, told me that the extra $10 wasn't worth it because you could see the stage from any seat in the venue. The people that paid more were escorted in first and everyone else was divided into two separate lines. Some people complained about the method in which we were being seated but I found it efficient and orderly. We all were seated relatively fast given the size of the crowd. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. She was personable and had a sense of humor which was great. I ordered margaritas and chicken tenders. The drinks were good and the food was typical bar food. Honestly, the food tastes the same at all Improv locations for the most part. The waitress would have gotten more than an 18% tip if the gratuity hadn't been forced upon us. We ended up with a fantastic table. It was just above stage/main floor level. We had a perfect view of the stage. There was no one seated in front of us so we didn't have to shift in our seats all night to see. Sheryl Underwood was hysterical and we all throughly enjoyed the show. Overall, my experience at the Arlington Improv was a good one. I wouldn't hesitate to see another show there in the future. read more

GREAT TIME!!! Depending on course to the comedian this is a great place to unwind, relax, have a few drinks and laugh. If you can get your tickets at their locations extra 5 bucks per ticket for online purchase is absurd. Also, they do 2 items minimum per person and its first come first serve. I can honestly say though that the way its set up there really are no bad seats unless you come in really late and have to share a table with strangers. FOOD... menu wasn't impressive and food were not great either. We ordered the swamp bake and it tasted like its been reheated a thousand times. Okay, I may be exaggerating but it was absolutely not good, unfortunately. We also ordered the fat fish wings and besides the fact that they were swimming in oil I enjoyed it. I attended a big star comedy show, I was not impressed with their service. The environment is nice and is clean. Their prices however are ridiculous, not only do you pay for the tickets but you have a purchase of two items minimum and the an 18% gratuity. Show was scheduled to start at 9:30 we arrived early stood outside for 30 mins. Show started at 10:02 people were still being seated.

Great (fairly) new place to see comedy. It's 15-20 minutes from Dallas, only a little further than going to the Addison location. Great way to layout a newer comedy club... a restaurant and bar in the front that are separate from the comedy in the backroom, and not upscale exactly, but more upscale than you'd expect most comedy venues. Good seating and views from just about anywhere in the room... BUT make sure you are some of the first guests being seated and you have a choice where you sit, otherwise half of your group might be in chairs that literally do not face the stage. Normally you just look left or right and you're looking on stage. Get the wrong seat here and you'll spend most of the show either twisted at an awkward angle or dodging waitstaff because you've turned your chair to face the aisle. (Choose just about any of the tables in the 2nd tier or the back and you're good.) read more

I went to see George Willborn it he was hilarious. The venue is rather intimate and get your order in to the waitstaff before they get bogged down. They have a tendancy to pop up when you least expect them. read more
