We brought our dog Scout in for a routine neuter, and the experience after surgery was extremely concerning. When I picked him up, he was completely panicked--jumping, uncontrollable, and clearly not in a condition that felt safe to take home. I questioned it, but was told he was "fine." The next day, he showed significant swelling and signs of pain that didn't seem normal. We were told to text or call with any concerns and that post-op checks would be no charge--but when I reached out, I got no response. Calls were routed elsewhere, and we were essentially ignored during a time that felt urgent. After finally reaching another location, we were told to bring him in immediately. He was prescribed additional medications, but the issues continued--swelling, inflammation, and abnormal discharge. When we returned again, the recommendation was either a costly culture test or to continue the same treatment, despite ongoing symptoms. At that point, we were also told future follow-ups might be charged, which contradicted what we were originally told. The biggest issue here isn't just the complications--it's the lack of communication, responsiveness, and consistency in care. When something goes wrong after surgery, you need to be able to reach your vet and feel supported. That wasn't our experience. I would strongly caution anyone who values reliable post-operative care and communication to think carefully before choosing this clinic. read more

We have used ArkVets (Desert Ark) for 4 dogs now with two that have passed. They have been extremely kind and helpful for our pups. We have brought our new rescue there for check in and work up- along with vaccines. They are usually quick to get you in from the start of appointment time and if there is a delay they let you know and let know why- usually an emergency which if my pet had an emergency I would want them to tend to them. The vets a staff are kind and knowledgeable. They approach my animals with respect which I appreciate. Everything is clearly communicated and follow up is quick. He lives the staff. I do too but when your dog does, it makes things easier. (Especially after his first appointment!) So ArkVets is our hometown vet now. Shots. Wellness exams. And since he and I are both seniors, his health and affordability is important to me. My pup and I camp a lot so keeping him healthy and current on shots is a priority. The Doctor also keeps me updated on what's available and options for his medications and advised of options if / when what we're doing isn't working. My dog is 9. Where I go, he goes. We even have a campervan so he and I always have a pet friendly place to sleep. I appreciate having a vet that helps me keep costs down (am old. Dog is old. This is going to be a long review, but PLEASE read through this if you really care about your pets. If I could give 0 stars I wouldn't even think twice. My ~8-month-old cat started to act a bit weird, but not so much that it really set off any alarms. She was licking at her backside more often, eating and drinking less, and not going to the litterbox as often. She acted the same when she had her first heat and she was just in a heavy heat last week, so I thought that she might have just been in the interestrus phase. One day she took a really bad turn. Normally, she runs around like a maniac, but she was totally lethargic and she wasn't eating or drinking at all. I knew I HAD to take her to the vet. I saw plenty of good reviews and the relatively low price was attractive, so I brought her into ArkVets the same day for a check-up. The veterinary assistant asked me how she was acting/why I brought her in, so I told her about her symptoms. She's my first cat and I don't know anything about cats or what illnesses they can have, so I just assumed it was a UTI because I heard that's common for female cats. I told the veterinary assistant that I thought it might be a UTI. She didn't ask any further questions or take any vitals and left to get the vet. When the vet came in to look at her, I told her about her symptoms. The vet felt around her stomach and noticed some bloating/fullness. The vet said that they will take her back for an ultrasound to check her bladder and collect a sample of her urine to test. The vet noted that it's possible that it isn't a UTI, but pyometra and said that she can check her uterus too since it would be easy to while looking at her bladder. Again, this is my first cat. I don't know anything about cats, so I asked about how serious pyometra was. The vet said it was life threatening; if my cat had pyometra and was not treated for it, she would die. My heart sank. I love my baby girl so much, so I jumped at the vet's idea. One ultrasound; two questions answered. We would find out what needed to be done and my kitty back in good health, right? The vet took her to the back and then returned with her sometime later. The vet said that they couldn't draw her urine because she didn't have enough urine in her bladder, but she didn't have pyometra. I was very relieved, just a UTI, very common in female cats. I got all freaked out over nothing. The vet chalked up her funky behavior to stress, said that they would give us some antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, and sent us on our way. My cat seemed like she was getting better, but three days later, when her anti-inflammatories ran out, my parents noticed that she was REALLY lethargic again, not eating or drinking, and isolating a lot. They took her to the vet again. This time they got a different veterinarian assistant and a different vet. The vet noted that they didn't have any vitals on record for her from her first visit. This time, the vet ACTUALLY gave her an ultrasound and returned with pictures to show my parents. The vet confirmed that she HAD pyometra and NEEDED emergency spaying or she would die. If my parents hadn't seen my cat and taken her to the vet, I would have just thought that she was still feeling sick from the UTI and that she would get better in no time. My precious girl would be DEAD if my parents hadn't seen her and taken her to see someone else. That morally corrupt vet scared me half-to-death and then LIED about giving my cat an ultrasound. How the HELL could she have CONFIRMED that my cat DIDN'T have pyometra if she NEVER took an ultrasound?? To top it off, they didn't even collect a urine sample to check if she had a UTI -- WHICH WAS THE EXACT REASON THAT I CAME IN FOR AN APPOINTMENT. They charged me for a check-up, but they DIDN'T CHECK A DAMN THING. THEY DIDN'T EVEN DO THE BARE MINIMUM OF CHECKING HER VITALS. How the HELL can you suggest that a cat could have a ***life-threatening*** condition, say that you WILL check, proceed to NOT check, and then say that she **DOESNT** have the LIFE-THREATENING condition?? After we found out that she actually DID HAVE pyometra, I looked up the symptoms for feline UTIs. They are completely different from what I described to the vet and the vet assistant. How the HELL does a vet NOT EVEN KNOW what the symptoms of feline UTIs are?? It is such a common condition for female cats that the VET SHOULD KNOW what the symptoms are! I would call her lazy, but her lack of preparedness goes BEYOND laziness; I put it on the form that I thought my cat had a UTI. The LEAST that a lazy vet would do was GOOGLE SEARCH THE SYMPTOMS before seeing her. What kind of vile, good-for-nothing, idiot vets do ArkVets hire?? That useless vet deserves to have her licence to practice revoked. If you get the asian-female veterinarian, do not settle until they assign you to a different vet. After my cat was euthanized at Ark Vets (10865 w indian school) on January 10, 2026, we authorized and paid for private cremation with return of ashes. The clinic later informed us a week later that due to their clerical error, Remy was cremated communally and his ashes were irreversibly spread at a private property. This has been an incredibly distressing and heartbreaking experience/situation, and I would not wish this situation on anyone. The loss of my pet, combined with the outcome of these events, is incredibly difficult to process a month later. Throughout the process, staff did not provide timely updates, calls involved extended hold times, and promised follow-ups were not completed. The clinic has not provided a full resolution, and communication with the owner, Kimberly, has not been helpful. I hope this review prompts a timely response to my emails. read more

I've been bringing my dog Gordis to this clinic initially for an ear infection since April, and while I appreciate the staff's friendliness, I have to share that my overall experience has been disappointing--especially considering the amount we've spent across four visits. My main concern is with the lack of follow-through and communication. Gordis has been dealing with a stubborn ear infection and skin allergy, and we've followed all the vet's instructions: antibiotics, steroids, ear drops, over-the-counter ear flush, switching shampoos, most recently switching to a prescribed diet, and scheduled follow-ups. At one of our earlier visits, I was told by a male vet tech that a compounded medication would be ordered and that I'd be contacted when it was ready. I never received a call or message, and when I asked about it at my next visit on May 23rd, the female vet tech assisting me had no idea what I was referring to. There was nothing in the notes, and it felt like we were starting from scratch. At the May 23rd appointment, I was told again that the compounded medication would be ordered. I never received a call, text, or email regarding the medication. To be transparent, I do have my phone set to silence unknown numbers, and I mentioned that to Dr. Schneider today. However, I check my call log and voicemail frequently and have not received any voicemails from the compounding company. I do receive all of my text messages and email notifications, and I did not receive anything from them. I even went through all my texts from May 23rd to today and found nothing regarding Gordis' medication. What's most disappointing is that no one from the vet office followed up with me to check on the prescription or Gordis' progress. When the prescription wasn't picked up (because I never received notice), there was no call or email from the clinic. That kind of proactive communication would've made a huge difference and potentially saved us from having to restart treatment--and another round of costs. At today's visit, the doctor explained that if I had brought Gordis in sooner for a follow-up, the issue with the compounding pharmacy could have been resolved earlier and the compound could have been administered--possibly preventing her ears from getting as bad as they are now. She also implied that the only thing delaying treatment was payment for the compound. I honestly felt like that comment shifted the blame toward me. Had there been clearer communication and follow-up from the vet's office, I believe we could've worked together on a timely solution. Our visits since April have totaled over $1,200, and unfortunately, I don't feel we've made real progress with Gordis' condition. I'm not sure where the breakdown happened, but it's left me feeling like our concerns weren't taken seriously. I'm writing this not to place blame, but to hopefully encourage better communication and care coordination for future clients. As of now, I'm not comfortable continuing care here. read more

Hippo's last set of puppy shots... I'm here because I rescued Hippo from a couple who rescued her mom from a lady and found out after that she was pregnant. My sweet Hippo is awesome and I said I wouldn't get anymore dogs because I've lost several over the years and deaths of your beloved dogs- is ALWAYS hard. My last girl passed away June 2023 from skin cancer. She was also a rescue pit mix. She was the most loyal and sweet dog I ever ever had. Fast forward to seeing Hippo on Nextdoor app- I wasn't looking for a dog but saw it randomly. Had to read all the negative Karen comments and people shaming or bashing etc- thinking the lady who rescued Hippo's mom was just a backyard breeder... Anyway I ended up just wanting to meet the pups and see if I gravitated towards any of them. Hippo girl was the one!! I'm usually a male dog person, but after my Coco girl that passed away last year, and missing her a bunch but having time to process and grieve her... I had a feeling this was meant to be. Husband was surprisingly on board as well! It was a sign to say YES! I love to rescue dogs and prefer that over breeding. There are so many that need homes and it's heartbreaking. Puts have such a bad rap but they're amazing dogs if you know how to train them and bond with them! Hippo is already my little sidekick! Anyway- this is the Vet that the rescuer's used when they were born, and all the puppy shots and well visits through the summer while they searched for homes for the pups. We still keep in touch! Good good people! I decided I would keep this vet because we just moved back here from a brief few years in Cali- where I had the most amazing Vet up there!!! I reviewed him on Yelp also!! He was not corporate and truly cares about your time and the animals best interest. He wasn't there to upsell and overcharge- just for people to take proper care of their animals. I think that's an anomaly anymore. He made it so people could afford to care and treat their pets without getting gouged and wasting a ton of time! Loved Dr Singh! I have had many vets over the years in many states- WA, GA, AZ, CA and now back to AZ- just a different part of the valley.. but honestly it's so hard to find amazing vets!! I wish I could go back to dr Singh- I referred him to everyone and sang his praises always! I will say I'm shocked by the prices in the area to see a vet... most won't even speak with you over the phone or help you out- unless you're seen and do all the tests etc... plus office charges etc- all the nickel and diming. So it's easy to be put off by the Veterinary care at most places. I've been here 3 times since getting hippos and first time was $200, 2nd was $170ish and today's visit was $215! They had another consult fee in there? For what? I was getting the last of her puppy shots, rabies, and they give her a benedryl shot because he has had reactions. I mean- yeah you're shooting her up with all sorts of crap anyone would have a reaction.. One thing I'm really put off by and don't understand is WHY they have to take her to the BACK without ME- to give her the benedryl shot? But then they bring her back- extra panicked and we have to wait 15 min to let her calm down and THEN they come into the exam room to administer her shots??? Why do they not keep it totally transparent and do the benedryl in the room with me? She's comfortable with me and all that did was up her anxiety. They gave me info about spaying her- which I fully plan to do and I know there is lots of conflicting info on when it's best to do it... They made it clear they prefer before first heat. For the actual spay it's $325- that doesn't include meds they send home, or the cone and if she is in heat tack on an extra $295!!! Wow! I think I'm going to be shopping around for a new vet. When I checked out- I was holding her and waiting and waiting- to be helped- because they don't want her out at parks around other dogs I. Public places etc etc- until all shots have kicked in- including the booster- they said to wait about 10-14 days from today to take her running with me or anywhere away from my yard.. so the fact that they know this and are taking their sweet time to pull up the bill for me to pay while I'm holding my puppy off their floors- (because remember it's also an URGENT care) so they get tons of animals in there and we don't know the status of them or anything... so you'd think they would have it pulled up and ready to go and be on it. The lady took forever to pull up my paperwork to charge me... I'm holding my dog and my debit card and waiting... lol.. there should be a better process for that. They have so much staff there- they should have someone communicate when a patient is coming g out to pay and have it pulled up and ready to avoid these situations and make it as seamless as possible. A month ago we brought our puppy in after she had broken her leg. We paid $75 for a consultation and $125 for an xray. One of the employees left the xray on top of their car and it was sun damaged & ruined per the receptionist. They said that they could do another xray but it would cost another $125?! We're low on funds since we just paid for my mother's funeral. We could NOT afford ANOTHER $125 All we wanted was to have her leg set. Now her leg is healing crooked and she will have a permanent limp. This business is a racket, I definitely would not recommend it or refer any of my friends. read more

I had been calling around all morning to get a few quotes on an exam, in which Desert Ark told me to come in at a scheduled time for a triage. After the triage we would be seen with our kitten, who has been throwing up and having potty issues for a few days now. I arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled time to be told im 3 hours in line? Something this pet hospital doesnt state to you over the phone. I would have shown up 3 hours earlier than this and waited if i would have known i'd be here almost til closing. Juli was very passive aggressive with clients in the waiting room and seems like shes under a ton of stress with the way she spoke to not only me, but those calling in on the phone as well. When you call on the phone, the girls up front snicker and make faces to eachother with your requests or after they're off the phone with you. I had a great chance to watch that for 2 and a half hours. I wish they would have completely denied me as a client when I first called this morning instead of having me drive all the way out here to wait hours upon hours to hopefully be seen and get some care! I should have went to my regular veterinarian. Upon being seen they wanted to check me out at a whopping total of $430+ for medications and things of that nature. I decided on only the fecal exam and the exam fee (of course). $155 bill and they said they would throw in the $40 injection to help with nausea. The medications they recommended can be found on Chewy.com. I placed an order in for my cat which has since been renamed from her foster name, called in and update this and then the line dropped. I called back and same guy answered. Although he was very polite, their whole office is not good on communication. The line wasn't dropped, he just figured he was done talking to me lol. I had to ask for them to email or call when the order was approved so i'm not sitting here waiting. Almost all of the medications they recommend to you are much cheaper on chewy.com so I just want to add that in! Desert Ark took their time when approving my medication. A long waiting period went by without the office/doctor approval to allow Chewy to send it to me. I'm sure it's because I ordered it through an outside company and they're not making their comission on the medication being filled. They also altered my order which was odd. All in all, I have mixed feelings about this veterinary office. Proceed with caution and understand that they are not very quick, nor quick with prescriptions. My cat has had major diarrhea for a little under two weeks since seeing them, and they were very slow to provide care. read more

Dear existing or potential client , I thought I had found one of the best places to treat our family pet. I was very wrong. I trusted this veterinary clinic and it's staff to take care of my pet. I signed an agreement on an iPad stating that I wanted the dog paw and my dog to be cremated in a mass crematory. I got receipt of that. I paid my $150 and I was told that by August 4th I would have the paw print back August 4 came I called the clinic they did not have it. They told me that it would probably be coming in there delivery that came later on. I said OK they said that they would call me when they got it. They did not call me back that Friday nor did they call me back that Saturday . I called them today. I was placed on hold by JOE for 20 minutes then transferred to supposedly a technician because the person that put me on hold was the receptionist at the front desk. I had to call back the receptionist picked up. The phone asked me why I was holding explain to him. I've been holding for 20 minutes, but I decided to call you back. I heard you were looking for my dogs paw print. His name is Joe, he said no I have a technician looking for it. I said funny because the technician I believe answered the phone and said that you were back there looking for it. He said no the technician is looking for it. Place me on hold again so I hung up I called back. Imagine someone telling you that they had lost your pet that you had set up for the crematory service to get a paw print. So I said, what do you mean he said well there's not gonna be a paw print because it didn't get done. I asked to speak to an office manager he denied two times. I've been told him I was going to go there in person. He then all of a sudden made this Mary person available. Mary spoke to me and before I could say anything like a slap in the face offers to send me a wind chime how would a wind chime make up for my dogs paw print just wondering? I told her since I was very mad. I did not want to wind chime and she then asked what I would like. I demanded a refund she said no. I told her I was gonna go down there, and I was not gonna be happy, and I was very upset and only then did she offer to give me a refund. So I ended up coming back and speaking to this Lauren Griggs who is the medical Director who blatantly told me to my face that not one technician but two technicians because they double verify made the mistake of not checking off the box that I wanted a paw print and that the mistake fell on the clinics, hands and her technicians. She really had no words offered. Her apology said it was their fault, so I urge you to not take your animal here because they will lose your pet as three people assured me there that they've done before, as it's happened to a handful of people, and they're very nonchalant about it so do not take your pet here stay away from here Note the owner called me and heard me out claims she there are many valid points and she would look into it... we will see what happens read more

I had a very crazy but brief interaction with this vet. I had my dog in to see Dr. Schneider (sp?), and my dog is elderly with multiple chronic GI issues. Dr. Schneider recommended Blue Pearl internal medicine (I think they have an undisclosed agreement with Blue Pearl?), but I've already spent over $10k on this dog, the internal med doctors only do tests without treatment, the internal med docs STILL haven't figured out what's wrong after more than $10K spent on diagnostics, and we cannot continue due to limited resources, unfortunately. I explained this to Dr. Schneider, and she said she understood and would do what she can to manage his pain and condition overall. One issue my dog has is a resolved GI bleed, which I'm concerned about recurrence, and chronic IBD with diarrhea. Primary care docs, internal med docs, and ER dogs ALL give my dog tons of antibiotics b/c the risk of sepsis is so horrible in dogs with horrible recovery odds. Another issue that started is my dog having slightly paler than normal gums, which had resolved by the time we got to see Dr. Schneider. I had a dog bleed out from a splenic tumor that ruptured, and my dog's gums aren't as pale as that. However, it's still concerning. We made a plan to contact Dr. Schneider and do another round of sucralfate if the pale gums issue returned. Dr. Schneider agreed to this plan, but when it came time to complete the plan, everything changed. The pale gums issue did return, his gums were only very slightly pale for a brief time, my dog had also had diarrhea for several days which had resolved, and I contacted Dr. Schneider (as planned) for sucralfate and expressed concerns about doing another antibiotic course, since every doc always does that. The next day, Dr. Griggs, the medical director, sent a message to me through Tracy, Customer Service Rep., in response telling me to take my dog to the ER. His gums weren't pale by the next day, he hasn't had diarrhea for days, he's not been vomiting, and I have NO idea why we'd take him to the ER. Tracy said that Dr. Griggs wanted the ER to manage my dog's chronic GI disease. Tracy said that the ER has internal medicine docs who can manage chronic GI disease. I had to push back, because I was appalled that the medical director, and Tracy, have no idea what an ER does. An ER does not manage chronic disease, only specialty clinics, and to a lesser degree, Primary Care Docs do that. An ER may have an internal medicine doctor (only a few do and not all do), but internal medicine doctors only treat emergencies in the ER (when you can find an ER that has an internal med doc), because it's an "EMERGENCY ROOM". Tracy really argued with this quite a bit and kept insisting that Dr. Griggs says the ER does have an internal medicine doc who can manage my dog's chronic illness. They were doing everything they could to get me to the ER when my dog isn't even stressed or showing any symptoms now, let alone in a life threatening emergency.....it was SUCH a crazy convo. At first I told Tracy that if Dr. Griggs wanted to explain her ER recommendation, she could call back, but then I called later and just told them I'll find another doctor. How can I ever trust this clinic when the medical director, who is a doctor, doesn't understand what ER departments do? I've never in my life had a doctor recommend the ER for management of chronic disease, and Dr. Griggs seems to be confusing her whole staff because Tracy, the CSR, also fought back extensively on the fact that ER departments are not for management of chronic disease. Additionally, emailing the clinic when my dog had pale gums was done in accordance with a plan Dr. Schneider made to put my dog on sucralfate if this happens again. Apparently Dr. Schneider does not follow through on the plans she makes with her clients. Due to the lack of basic medical awareness on the purpose of ERs vs specialty clinics on the part of the medical director and customer service rep staff, and Dr. Schneider breaking previously agreed on plans, I cannot trust or recommend this clinic. read more

Five stars for Dr. Balsino. We brought in our senior English Bulldog whose health has been rapidly declining. We took him to Easy Vet first, but after listening to his lungs, they recommended we take him to an urgent care that has the ability to do X-rays. We only waited about 20 minutes in the lobby, which I felt was fair. Dr. Balsino was the most thorough I've ever seen from a vet. He didn't seem rushed and spent lots of time explaining diagnoses, a prognosis, meds and next steps. Another vet, I forget her name, called me after hours (since I had called to discuss some side effects our pup was having from the meds) and explained the radiology report. The news was not good and she spent a good amount of time with me on the phone explaining everything and was very empathetic. read more

This place is a scam, my older dog need a non steroidal anti inflammatory for a minor ankle injury (Tylenol for dogs) which I told them before we ever went in, and after paying the two hundred dollars for 10 days worth of medicine they wanted to have us pay for a second examination to get a refill. During the first visit I had to decline $1600 of extra "treatment options" they are preying on your emotions here. Clean place, staff was observably tired and dismissive when they realized I wasn't going to spend the extra money. Will not go back. From the response from the owner below it's clear that they think they know better, even though they had just met my dog. Unnecessary Expensive diagnostic testing for something the owner already has described as a minor issue from being active at an older age is predatory. And framing it in the way they did is to prey on the owners emotions plain and simple. Do not trust them with your animals care. read more

worst vet clinic ever! they do not care about the animals well being only how much they can charge you. I took my 15 yr old chihuahua to them for his heart condition, they charged me for blood work, and xrays . they said to change his medication but I had to wait 4 days to get them to order it. they said not to give the meds I had and he needs medication to stay alive. Luckily my previous vet filled the script for him while I waited two weeks to get it from desert ark. I also have 7 cats. I took a new shelter kitty in to be checked as it had runny feces. they said he was fine and healthy. luckily they did a fecal exam which came back with giardia, which is extremely contagious. now all my cats have giardia and they only gave me meds for one cat not all of them. they told me to go to a feed store to buy fenbendazole for dogs. Now i have a sick kitten with an upper respiratory they said she would be fine. she is so sick, sneezing, and congested she can hardly eat. I asked for clavamox or amoxicillin and they refused. they do not care. PLEASE do not trust them with your animals health. read more

Doctor told me he knew what she had then when I went to pay the guy at the front told me he wasn't 100% sure that he knew to come back in 7 days if she didn't get better. I had a gut feeling to take her to the hospital because she got worse turns out she needed surgery and the medicine this clinic gave me wasn't ever going to help her if I had waited the 7 days like they told me she would've passed away .
