She offered to put liquids in her, but they had no injectable antibiotics for chickens. I kind of feel like the receptionist overstated what they were capable of. We've been sitting in this room over an hour waiting on the fluids. We've been here almost 2 hours in total. Over $350 for what amounts to a 5 minute exam, no bird medicine, and languishing in a waiting room. I am upset. I understand if there are other animals with serious issues, but it feels like once we paid, they could take their time. Wrapping this review up in the context of a few days later, and seeing our regular vet, the vets on staff didn't seem to know what to do with our bird. She couldn't show us how to give her a pill, or tube feed, nothing. Our regular vet did that a few days later. I'm grateful they did some triage that at least got her to where we were able to take her to our regular vet.

Before bringing her in, I called MedVet because this was my first time going through the euthanasia process. The woman I spoke with was incredibly informative and compassionate. She patiently answered my questions and even provided a price range so we knew what to expect. When we arrived at the emergency hospital emotional, they assisted is right away. The registration process was quick and easy, and Sophie was taken back for an evaluation within just a few minutes. Soon after, we were escorted to a comfort room where one of the veterinary assistants gently explained that the doctor agreed it was time to let Sophie go. Once we made the decision, the staff brought Sophie back to us and gave our family all the time we needed to say our goodbyes. They even gave us a button to press whenever we were ready for the doctor to come in, which allowed us to move at our own pace without feeling rushed. When we were ready, the doctor came in and was incredibly kind and compassionate. He carefully explained each step of the process before administering the injections. Although it happened quickly, it brought us comfort knowing Sophie was no longer in pain or suffering. Afterward, the doctor respectfully took Sophie and explained the next steps. Every staff member we encountered treated us with kindness, compassion, and genuine empathy during one of the hardest moments our family has ever experienced. About a week after Sophie's passing, we received a handwritten condolence card in the mail. It was such a thoughtful gesture that meant so much to our family. I had been chasing these people over a week to setup an appointment and all I get is "we cannot access the emails with the radiology department" and they will give a call and this call never came. When I mentioned that no one is calling me back, the audacity of these people to say then bring your pup to the ER - like why? My pup is not in an emergency, why these shady people are pushing patients to come to ER - so you can make some extra bucks. Please go get a life and do a decent job in what you care to do. I will never recommend this place. Take you pup to a place where they give a damn.

A few months ago, Lola suffered a ruptured disc in her neck and needed emergency surgery. It was an extremely stressful and frightening experience for us, especially after watching her suffer from excruciating pain for weeks. Dr. Vitale immediately brought Lola in for an MRI to verify what she correctly suspected was the problem and performed Lola's surgery right away. We truly could not have hoped for a better outcome. The surgery was a huge success, and today Lola appears to be completely pain free and is back to her happy, normal self. Seeing her comfortable and enjoying life again means more to us than we can possibly express. We cannot thank Dr. Vitale enough for what she did for Lola and for our family. She gave our dog her quality of life back, and we will always be incredibly grateful. Dr. Vitale is truly our hero, and we feel so fortunate that Lola was in her care. Wow, what a disappointing and unprofessional experience today. I usually have great experiences at…read moreSAGE, which is why today was so frustrating. My appointment was at 10:00 AM. I arrived around 9:55 and was checked in right away. The staff who welcomed us were great, and we got into a room quickly. I want to make it very clear that the nurses and doctors here are amazing. I have never had an issue with the medical team. They are knowledgeable, professional, and have always taken great care of my dog. The appointment itself only took about 15-30 minutes, and thankfully we received great news--my dog is doing well and there were no new issues seen on her echocardiogram. Then I was told to check out, and that's where everything went downhill. I went to the receptionist on the far left and asked if I could check out. Instead of directing me to where I needed to go, he simply told me to wait and that someone would call me up. I specifically asked, "Just to check out?" and was again told to wait. So I waited patiently for about 30 minutes, even though I needed to get to work. After nobody called me, I approached the receptionist at the middle desk. Before I could even ask my question, she immediately told me to hold on and wait. I wasn't even given the opportunity to explain that I had already finished my appointment and literally just needed to pay my bill and leave. I waited another 15+ minutes while watching other customers who had finished after me get checked out and leave. At that point, I was extremely frustrated. Finally, I went to the third counter on the right, and that gentleman was much more helpful and was able to get me checked out. What I don't understand is why the first two receptionists couldn't simply say, "You can check out at that desk." That would have solved the entire situation. My actual appointment was finished around 10:30 AM, yet I ended up waiting over an hour just to pay my bill and leave. The checkout process took longer than the actual veterinary appointment. Again, I have nothing negative to say about the doctors or nurses. They have always been excellent, knowledgeable, and professional. Unfortunately, the way the front desk handled such a simple situation today was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I normally don't like leaving negative reviews, especially because I've had good experiences here in the past, but today's experience was bad enough that I'm seriously reconsidering bringing my pets back to this location.

We spent almost 2 hours here and 95% of the time was just waiting to be seen by a vet. The waiting area is clean and there is plenty of seating. This place does get busy. Everyone we encountered during our visit was nice and friendly, but I did notice that there was another vet who was helping another pup and she wasn't the most friendly. I'm glad we didn't have to be helped by her. Honestly, the vet didn't tell us anything we didn't already know (symptoms might be post-surgical swelling), but they did prescribe the pup some additional meds which put my family members at ease. MedVet is located between Sage and Animal Eye Specialists. There is plenty of parking out front.

My cat's condition was really bad, and ended up putting him to sleep. From the moment Dr. Ang first met with us, he exhibited wonderful listening skills. He valued my comments and made me feel heard. It was a dangerous urgent situation, and he gave it the prompt attention it deserved. My cat had to be hospitalized, and I could not have had a better vet to help me through those difficult days. Dr. Ang was so unbelievably kind and helpful to both myself and my cat. I've had pets my entire life, and I've never been more impressed by a vet. I was very worried about my cat, and Dr. Ang kept me updated and generously answered every question I had. It has taken months for me to write this review, because my cat had to be put down about 10 days after this emergency situation. However, thanks to Dr. Ang's help and advice, my cat got to spend over a week with me at home, before he developed another medical issue that again threatened his life. My cat was put down at almost 18 years of age, with the assistance of Dr. Ang. He made a terrible situation much better than it otherwise would have been for us. This my most difficult time with a pet, and I'm so blessed to have had Dr. Ang through the journey. I can't possibly thank him enough for how much he went above and beyond for my cat, and for me. Dr. Ang is a wonderful person, and anyone is lucky to have him care for their pet. I am also happy with MedVet Mountain View. I've brought my cat there many times, and the fact that I drove from Santa Clara to Mountain View many times specifically to go to this office is evidence of how comfortable I felt bringing my pet there--rather than vets' offices much closer to me geographically. I strongly would not recommend MedVet Mountain View based on my experience with my dog's care…read more My dog underwent bilateral anal sacculectomy at MedVet Mountain View on 5/5/26 for recurrent anal gland problems on her right side. According to her medical records, her rectum was "entered" during the surgery, and I was not informed that this had occurred at the time. She subsequently developed a wound complication and a recto-cutaneous fistula, requiring another surgery for debridement and repair. In other words, leaking feces into the pelvic cavity and formed an abscess and leaked it out through a small hole formed in her skin. The complications continued. After the second surgery, her anus was surgically repositioned toward the right side of her body. Despite this, she continued to experience recurrent problems in the area, including inflammation, drainage, and repeated abscess-like infections now on her left side where she didn't have any previous infections or issues. After multiple procedures and several surgical consults with no answers and continued problems, I ultimately had to take my dog to Colorado State University's veterinary hospital for a third surgery and specialty evaluation. During that surgery, pieces of anal gland tissue were found remaining on the previously healthy side, along with an infection involving E. coli that had become trapped in the area. My dog has now been through three surgeries, prolonged medication, repeated veterinary visits, and an extremely difficult recovery. She has experienced significant discomfort, and this has been emotionally and financially devastating. I understand that complications can occur with any surgery. My concern is the overall course of events: the rectum being entered during the original surgery without me being informed, the subsequent recto-cutaneous fistula and wound complications, the second surgery that resulted in her anus being repositioned, continued recurrent infections, and then the discovery during her third surgery of retained gland tissue and trapped E. coli infection. I ultimately had to travel out of state to obtain specialty care for my dog after complications from the original surgery. I am sharing my experience so other pet owners can make an informed decision and ask very detailed questions about the procedure, potential complications, how complications will be communicated, and what follow-up care will be provided if something goes wrong.

Our primary vet initially attempted to remove it, but once he got in there, he felt it was too close to extremely important structures such as her jugular, carotid artery, nerves, etc and chose not to continue. Hearing that was terrifying and it eventually led us to Dr. Bugman. From our very first appointment, Dr. Bugman made us feel like Bailey was genuinely in good hands. I was incredibly nervous and had a million questions. She was patient, kind, honest and empathetic through all of it. Communication was always easy, and I never felt rushed or made to feel like I was asking too much. She also understood the financial reality of specialty care and was willing to talk through different options with us without ever making me feel like we were compromising Bailey's care. On surgery day, I was an emotional wreck, but Bailey did beautifully and Dr. Bugman was able to successfully remove the mass. After weeks of fear and uncertainty, hearing that my girl was awake, out of surgery, and the icky mass was out was the biggest relief imaginable. What I will remember just as much as Dr. Bugman's surgical skill is how cared for we felt throughout this entire experience. When your dog is your family, handing them over for a major surgery is incredibly hard. I never once questioned whether Bailey was being watched over, loved on and treated like she mattered. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Bugman and everyone who cared for our girl. There really aren't enough words to say thank you for getting Bailey safely through this and back to us. If you are scared and searching through reviews trying to decide who you can trust with your baby, I hope this review gives you some of the reassurance I desperately needed when we were in that position.

I will not share the entire saga, but here is what I will say: - I do not know if SAGE's clinical choices were sound, as I am not a vet. What I do know is that they were not successful, and resulted in the death of a relatively young (6 year old) cat who did not appear to be *that sick*. - The care that was provided - which took place over the course of less than 12 hours and did not involve any surgery resulted in bills exceeding $7,000. - After the traumatic experience, SAGE was focused purely on payment, and not at all on condolences. They immediately charged the credit card on file and sent multiple emails with invoices (which were unclear and in some cases contradictory). When I arrived to pick up the cat's ashes the person at the front desk looked at the computer and said "you have an outstanding balance of $400; would you like to pay that now?" She did not say "I'm sorry for your loss" and instead just straight to asking for more money. When I pushed back she said "that's our protocol." Yes, clearly it is. - They made many administrative errors throughout the process, which I will not go into because for those they have apologized, but there were so many that I felt embarassed for them. But I've now contacted them multiple times with one simple request: please send me one invoice that is complete and accurate. My requests have gone unanswered. Perhaps because they have already received payment, they are no longer concerned with me, but it's actually pretty outlandish. They charged over $7,000 (I think - it's actually hard to tell because again, the charges and invoices are not clear or complete) and can't be bothered with giving me a clear answer. I am truly not sure how any business can get away with operating this way, but apparently SAGE can. I'm sure they do some good work. I'm sure there are many good people who work there and care a lot about animals. But based on our experience, it feels like incompetent adminstration at best and a scam at worst. I know that when your pet needs emergency care you may not have a lot of options, but if you do, I suggest that you try to go elsewhere.

Any time we leave for travel, I reach out to them and arrange an in house pet sitting service and Lynda is able to accommodate the dates or any changes that might happen. her response is always timely and she collects all the information to ensure the pets taken care of properly. Her team spends appropriate amount of time in each visit with the cats to ensure they are stimulated, fed, cuddled and had fun while being at home. I strongly recommend them!
