I've been here now a few times and continue to be very impressed with the whole team at MedVet. They're awesome, really good people. Our most recent visit our cat got a sticky (glue) fly trap stuck to him, which may seem like a silly thing to bring a cat to emergency for... but the level of freaked out that he was, we were having difficulty handling him, and he was bleeding and we couldn't determine from where. I called to ask for advice on how to handle the situation, which they gladly gave. The person at the front desk even called me back after she talked to a technician and had additional information for me! We ended up taking him in, as we just couldn't get things under control on our own and he was clearly in a lot of pain. A technician took him back to assess him quickly, got him cleaned up, located the source of the bleeding and cleaned his wounds. And of course he was an angel for her... (why can't he be like that for me?!?!). Once again, everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and efficient. They never minimize what you're dealing with... if they thought it was silly reason to be there, they sure didn't make it seem that way to me. They took our concerns seriously and were very supportive, and took excellent care of our cat. The other thing I really appreciate with the team here is that they aren't trying to add on or charge for unnecessary services. Costs are explained clearly and feel very fair. I haven't once felt like they were taking advantage of the emergency nature of a situation. Again... really good people here. read more

We love MedVet! Ghost had a foxtail lodged in his rear paw so we brought him in on a Saturday evening. The staff moved so quickly and efficiently, and everyone was very sweet and supportive! Dr. Wright examined Ghostly's body with such care, and then clearly explained the next steps. I appreciated how thorough and kind she was with us and Ghost. Brought my cat in late at night on Monday because of oral bleeding he had. Took him in and they "inspected" his mouth and claimed it was a small cut and that they just wiped it off. They wanted to charge $400 for the antibiotics, vet looked VISIBLY ANNOYED at the fact that we can't afford that much so he suggested to go to our vet instead. Next day I went to my vet and they did their check up on my cat and found a bloody ball of mass in my cats mouth. Question: What oral inspecting did you guys really do to my cat? How come you didn't see the BIG BALL OF MASS that's on his cheek? I was warned about this company by my friend who also took her kitten years before and their suggestion to a sick kitty is to euthanize him. Why was that the only option? Why did she have to take her kitten somewhere else to be saved? I'm very annoyed and dissatisfied with this and the motto they have placed proudly about being empathetic and sympathetic is clearly a lie. I HIGHLY suggest going anywhere else that this vet company. I hadn't gone to MedVet for a while. My dog! was older and had health issues and it turned out that she had a low-grade heart murmur. Dr Chan works out of this office and has a cardiac specialist. She is absolutely excellent, helpful and empathetic. During the time and I was caring Khloé she was most compassionate and helpful and gracious. I would recommend her in a heartbeat no pun intended but Dr Chan definitely is a very capable specialist in regards to cardiology. I have ordered her a good review for a long time because having her on my digs care team was something I was really grateful for. Even though she does not work every day and the MedVet office she has an email that she answers so it is easy to contact her if you need to. read more

My family and I brought our pup here on a Sunday morning after she experienced some post surgery complications that we wanted to get checked out. We spent almost 2 hours here and 95% of the time was just waiting to be seen by a vet. The waiting area is clean and there is plenty of seating. This place does get busy. Everyone we encountered during our visit was nice and friendly, but I did notice that there was another vet who was helping another pup and she wasn't the most friendly. I'm glad we didn't have to be helped by her. Honestly, the vet didn't tell us anything we didn't already know (symptoms might be post-surgical swelling), but they did prescribe the pup some additional meds which put my family members at ease. Was initially hesitant that I had to bring my beloved baby here during an emergency because he had been to Sage (next door) before. BUT LET ME TELL YOU, THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! We came here on a Saturday after being told we needed to come after chest x-rays at my dog's regular vet. They immediately came out and took our baby to the back, they put him in the oxygen box. Don't expect to be in and out. If you've ever been to an emergency vet, it's not quick, they triage based on highest needs and in busier towns there will be a wait. We were here for 4 hours and they ended up keeping our baby over night. I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for Dr. Novotny, the vet techs, night doctor, and front desk staff. We were going through a very difficult time, thinking we were going to have to say goodbye to our baby but Dr. Novotny gave us plenty of options to try and our baby has made almost a full recovery. Dr. Novotny was so patient, very thorough, and REALLY LISTENED to what had been going on. And not just like look at you and nod his head listen, like this man said hold on and got his pen and paper out to write EVERYTHING down. He even called the cardiologist in when it was her weekend off and I'm grateful that she came in when she didn't have to. In an emergency, I will never think twice about coming here. I have 4 cats and 1 kitten. I also foster but this is the first time I had to go to an emergency vet. My orange guy, Heathcliff (I call him Heathy for short) has been sneezing. I was looking into making an appt w/ his vet after the holidays for it. It wasn't too concerning since he's still eating, drinking, and being his normal self. This morning while giving him his breakfast Christmas treat, I noticed he has a watery left eye. It was partially closed probably due to the tears (or pain?). I called MedVet in San Jose and decided to head there. A review for them will follow but I ended up leaving that location to come here. The service and sincerity from staff was unwavering. I was the only one there for a few minutes until a couple walked in w/ their dog. I am grateful there are places like this opened 24/7 because accidents and emergencies can happen to anyone at any given time. They took Heathy in. Roughly 10 min. later the vet came out to tell me what she assessed and asked if I want to do an eye test to see if his eyes are scratched. I consented to having it done. In the end my bill totaled $380'ish including the cost of the eye drops. I bought a humidifier 30 min. ago and will spend extra time w/ my boy. The upper respiratory infection can flare up due to stress. He dislikes Mango, another male orange guy I am trying to help find him a home. I suspect the stress from that was what caused the URI. Either ways. I am happy I brought him in and appreciative of this place and staff today on Christmas morning. Hopefully I will never come back here but at least now I know where to go in case of emergencies. read more

Honestly, they were okay in how they treated us, they were very friendly and kind. BUT the vet did not take our dog's vitals, just palpitated her abdomen and visually checked her teeth, eyes, and persqueeter. Did not take her temperature or listen to her chest. Then they charged us 220$ for telling us it was probably a UTI and if we wanted to know for sure it would be 740$ We asked if they thought she was any immediate danger, they said "No" so we took her to our actual vet the next day. Again they were very friendly, but I feel like this was NOT 220$ worth of checking our dog. So I feel ripped off. (also, we did take her to our vet the next day and she did have a UTI and was treated there, same test, and pills to treat it 100$ and reimbursed through our insurance. She is fine now) read more

I have been to quite a few emergency vets over my time as a pet owner, but I have never been more impressed by the service received at MedVet - Campbell. There was minimal wait time and everyone from the front desk through to the vet (Dr Guevara) was incredibly helpful and kind. We brought our ten year old cat (Reina) in for recurring upper respiratory, lethargy, and lack of eating after we were unable to get a vet appointment at our primary vet for at least 4 days. Dr Guevara was incredibly thorough going through Reina's history, listened to our concerns, and even made suggestions and courses of action for potential underlying causes of other health issues that were not related to our primary concern. I honestly felt more listened to and understood by Dr Guevara than our primary vet - and my husband felt the same way. After the appointment the tech walked me through a very thorough summary of our appointment, the medications prescribed, and methodology for administering. Was also really impressed by this because we usually get shoved out the door at this stage at other emergency clinics. Will definitely return in the future when/if emergency consults are required. read more

I have been here in some hard times and I've appreciated the speed they get to you as well as the doctor's frank advice. They diagnosed a community cat with stomatitis (we got her a dental and she was adopted), worked with them with another community cat who was dying (through the city, he was euthanized), another who just needed some antibiotics. Doc Novotny is very good. He looks you straight in the eye and tells you what you need to know. I immediately connected with his directness and standards. He's a good vet. read more

They hire great people so you don't realize you're being price gouged to the hilt. The people who work there are amazing, but beware that one liter of saline is $220; and you will be charged at least $170 Every. Single. Time. a vet looks at your animal. This is on top of the $220 to walk through the door. Remember to go line-by-line on your final bill. I was charged a 48-hour hospital stay when my pet was there fewer than 8 hours. If I hadn't argued, the charge would have remained. My pet is fine (thankfully) and the team truly was great. But this money-grab really soured me on the entire experience. Updated 11/16/25: Thank you for your response. I *did* call to speak about my bill. I was told several times by the person on the phone, "I have your signed estimate. You signed it. I can't help you with the charges. You signed it. I'll send it to you." So clearly, this is how they've been trained to respond. read more

I just tried to take this cat to med vet and my experience wasn't great. Saw this post on a fb page, I offered to take her to med vet since I've always been told you can take sick/injured cats there after hours. I got there and I told them about the post & I told them she had an ear tip and I was asked if they could check her chip? First they told me that they no longer accepted Cats for SJAC but then they call out a vet to check on her/him. The vet asks what is happening I explain what was told to me & what the post said. The vet, her name was apparently Yessenia (tall, w platinum hair), was really rude, and would not even address me. I was told the cat was not walking (possibly hit) & I mentioned that, she took the cat to a room and comes out and tells the receptionist (as she called her by her name) "this is a tnr, she has an ear tip. She was walking just fine!" Hands me the carrier and goes back into the room and doesn't not say a word to me. I thought that was very unprofessional, how are you going to be in the profession of helping animals but be rude because I am trying to help an animal. I even told her thank you before she took the cat and she just had an attitude. Then when I got to my car, you can see her complaining or saying something to the receptionist and 3 other members of staff with her little attitude. I left a little confused and discouraged, I didn't know Medvet was no longer accepting strays, I'm an animal lover & I was just trying to help this cat. No one deserves to feel bad for trying to help an animal, I don't even know what I did or said to make her act the way she did. I really hope she doesn't discourage others who just want to help as well. Only giving 2 stars because at least the receptionist tried to be helpful. read more

MY CAT DIED HERE. IT STARTED OUT HOPEFUL BUT PROGRESSED INTO AN AGONIZING EXPERIENCE. I have been TRAUMATIZED by this experience. My cat started having a breathing problem, so I brought her here because my local Vet was booked and couldn't see her. I came with my closest friend who was also appaled. I understand some people had very good experiences here. It depends on the severity of the case or luck. There are some very good veterinarians (Dr. La Plume) here and a few good technicians. But there are some vets who don't care and there are big problems especially if it's a serious case. When I brought my cat in, she was lively. In the oxygen case, she paced back and forth and meowed loudly. That was normal. Then she gradually went downhill after the treatment and the meds. She experienced a lot of stress here. Responsiveness and turnaround for follow-up was a nightmare. This affected my cat's life while on very strong med that was prescribed here. That part of the MedVet company needs to be addressed. I tried to reach a vet in between visits and begged for a response. Even walked into the clinic and requested a brief conversation with the vet on the floor at the time. They have 12-hour shifts. Why can't they find 5-10 minutes to talk to a pet parent who may not make it and it's urgent? I sent email per the coordinator's recommendation. I was recommended to forward it to another vet. All were ignored. I didn't hear any response for several days during a critical heart-related case. This happened another time. At a time when you need timely responses and you need support, it may or may not happen here. If they don't want to talk to you, they just don't respond?? This is not professional. Not caring behavior on the part of MedVet. Totally shameful! My beautiful sensitive lavender Siamese named "Milk" got worse and worse after treatment and meds. Then she developed kidney failure. There are all kinds of theories about how one affects the other. But how did this occur so fast when she was so much better when brought in? MedVet is understaffed. A few people at the front desk are very nice and some are just very matter-of-fact and very fast to hand over the invoices and act like they wish they weren't there. The total bill added up to a shocking $8000! I am a senior on fixed income. I never imagined any vet company would charge such exorbitant fees. This is a big out-of-state corporation. While there are some good people here, there are limitations to the professional conduct that were experienced and were extremely stressful. I had the distinct impression that the non-medical staff are under pressure to just keep saying "they're busy" and never get back to you. Dr. La Plume did reach me after my beloved cat was recommended to be euthanized and responded after my Yelp rating. I have since modified my comments somewhat. But my cat declined way too fast. And the experience was indeed a nightmare and my cat could have lived longer and not suffered this way to the point of her being euthanized. read more

We have taken our 2 dogs here a total of 3 times and MedVet Campbell has been truly stellar every time. Everyone who works here is tremendously kind - the folks who answer the phones, the vet techs, the vets - everyone is attentive, caring, and generous with their time. We do anything for our pets and cannot possibly emphasize enough how much of a relief it is to have a 24/7 emergency vet who we can trust on call. One of our dogs ripped her dewclaw and they addressed it immediately, competently clipping it even though she was so nervous. On another occasion, we had a chocolate ingestion panic and were instantly assisted by calling and explaining the situation. They move quickly to assess the concern and the vet gives so much of their time when your'e back in the room. They answer every question, thoroughly go over post-visit care and instructions, and are constantly available if anything new comes up. We won't go anywhere else for an emergency and we'd recommend this vet to anyone. I walked in with my injured cat... I was seen nearly immediately and the cat was evaluated. They explained the problem their solution and a quote for how much it would cost. I needed an emergency Veterinary for dog who was ill. It was 4 or 5 in the morning and this place is 24 hrs. I called and was able to take Fluffy in right away. Front desk ladies were friendly and signed me in immediately. Fluffy was seen right away. Minutes later I was informed she would need to be kept for treatment. The initial doctor went over her condition and informed me another doctor would take over care since her shift was finishing. Fluffy was left in their care half day. I was able to call and check in on how she was doing. I picked her up later and was informed of what was going on with her and given medicine. I hadn't planned on spending the money I spent, but was worth it to have Fluffy better. I also noticed the cleanliness of the clinic/hosp. was much appreciated. I don't own any pets, but dog sitting for my mother out of the country, so this was a first for me. Not sure what other Veterinary clinics look like, but liked this one. Im so appreciative of the team of people who cared for Fluffy and that this was the place I took her to. They all showed a kind and caring attitude for their clients and pets. Thank you so much! We were camping at Mt. Madonna over Labor Day Weekend when our toy poodle began vomiting and having loose stool. After a day treating on our own, we became alarmed when he began vomiting again at midnight. We arrived at the Campbell MedVet location at about 1:15 a.m. Start to finish, we and our dog experienced compassionate and professional help. The charges were less than we anticipated and the treatment plan and meds worked quickly. My cat came in dehydrated due to a prior kidney issue that his vet and myself had seem to get under control. I was greeted by the vet over the phone that there is no way my cat got this bad this fast and when trying to explain to the vet that he does have some health issues that have been an issue but he was getting better the vet instead of listening just talked over me. And when I made arrangements for a family member to come get my sick cat and bring him home so I could take him to a much better vet the er vet here said the the person waiting with my ca couldn't even sit in the lobby while they waited for my family member to come get my cat all because I wanted to send the vet my cats recent test results from my cats current vet when they wanted to run the same test for more money. All this vet wants to do is charge as much as they can they will not take any previous very recent test to avoid further financial strain and the vet wouldn't even listen he spent the phone call talking over me. I've never written an online review before, but I feel so strongly about my recent experience that it was important for me to share. My dog went to his regular vet for what should have been a routine visit to express his anal glands. Two days later, he began showing clear signs of infection. When I called his vet, they refused to see him for days, despite the infection being a direct result of their work. Predictably, the infection worsened significantly to the point where it ruptured and bled everywhere. It was terrifying. I decided to go to MedVet Campbell for emergency help. From the second I walked through their doors, I knew I had made the right decision. The staff were incredibly nice and understanding--I know I must have looked like a crazy person, but they treated me with such compassion. Considering it's an emergency facility, I had a very short wait to see the vet. He was kind, understanding, and an incredibly clear communicator. When the procedure was completed, I was genuinely shocked because the vet himself was the one to call and update me on my dog's condition. When I thought there was nothing left that could surprise me, they actually gave me a partial refund because they hadn't used all the materials they had quoted me for. I was absolutely floored by their honesty and integrity. In contrast to my vet, I called MedVet Campbell two days later with questions about his wound, and they told me I could come in (free of charge) for a vet to check him out. Again, I was seen quickly and felt completely taken care of. A vet even emailed me a couple days after that to see how my dog was doing. As an ex-ER nurse, I know what it's like to work in that kind of high-pressure environment. It's easy to be too busy or too tired to remember that you're often caring for people on potentially the worst day of their lives. I can confidently say that at MedVet Campbell, you will never feel that way. The consistent care and professionalism I experienced there are unparalleled to anything I've encountered before. I love MedVet as the staff is always nice and compassionate. But last experience there was ok. Dr Morehouse bedside manner is well needs to be better. I brought my dog in due to pain. Not sure if it was from an aggressive ear cleaning of neck issues. I explained he just had his ears cleaned and I think something might have happened. He barely took 5 min to assess my dog and said it was IVDD. Really. Just because it's a French Bulldog don't assume that. Sent us home with meds. Watched my dog over the weekend and it is definitely his ear not his neck. Disappointed with Dr Morehouse. All other Drs there are awesome. They listen to you and do a thorough check. Don't just pass it off as something else and rush you. To the front office you are awesome and thank you . Highly recommend MedVet, but if you get Dr. Morehouse push back and ask tons of questions and provide what you have observed with your pet. Don't let him rush you. These are are fur babies. The most cavalier attitude I've seen, towards customers, and pets. They're sadly just another overpriced money-making racket, masquerading as a veterinary clinic. I do not have pet insurance and have been okay with paying out of pocket until this experience. Truly feel like I was scammed and taken advantage of during a stressful time. My cat was having some stomach issues and stopped eating for over a day. Since this was so out of the norm for her I brought her in to be examined. The doctor said he felt tenseness in her stomach and recommended an X-ray. Before I wanted to go further with that I asked all the possibilities it could be. All of the things did not seem realistic knowing my cat, she doesn't ear strings, or hair ties or anything of that sort. I asked if we could do anything else and wait to see if she gets better until then. He told me it could be too late if we wait, so I was pressured into agreeing. The X-ray was going to cost $1400. When I told them I could not afford that it miraculously went down to $800+. I went ahead with it. They did not find a single thing wrong with her and instead gave her anti nausea and some sort of fluids. Which cost another $100+. The doctor had no further explanation of what was wrong with her. My cat is fine now but thinking back on the situation is awful to know I was scammed for so much, for reference x-rays should cost up to $200. The nurses were kind and its good that they are open 24/7. Just be ready to spend an arm and a leg. read more

In the final report, they claimed I neglected my dog, which resulted in my insurance not covering the bill. I brought my dog in specifically because he was not acting like himself. I had to bring my cat here a while ago late at night for some suspected urinary issues (which can be really serious in male cats unfortunately). After calling ahead and describing the issue, the staff confirmed they wanted to check up on him even though they were full. Although I had to wait for about 2 hours, it's because the doctor had some other more severe pets to attend to and my cat was stable. Once she was able to attend to him, she gave me a rundown of all the options and the cost, and then we decided together which option to take. I really felt like she did a fantastic job of making sure I understood all the options and risks, and that I played an active role in my cat's care. At other vets I've been to in the past, they would do things without letting me know and still charge me for things I had already handled (like flea medicine). And I was able to bring my cat home that night! Thank you MedVet for all the care and professionalism, I definitely felt like my cat was in good hands :) read more

Spent a few hours here and they had a drink vending machine and a small fridge with free waters. The staff was very nice and welcoming, especially when it came time to make the decision. They ask options for cremation boxes little ornaments and other things for your fur baby. They turn in a little electric candle whenever someone makes the decision to put down their pet, which I liked. Open 24/7 Seems like this is the spot alot of people come to when the hard decision is made. Very accommodating and gave my friends all the time they needed with their kitty. read more

These reviews can be subjective to the owner's experiences and here's mine. We are grateful for MedVet and their care for our dog, Vader. About 4 weeks ago, our dog suddenly declined within 24 hours so we rushed her to MedVet. Personally working in an ER myself, I knew pets would be triaged based on acuity level, so I expected to have to wait but I was hoping to not have to since our dog couldn't even walk or stand. Upon arrival MedVet took her in right away and we found out she had developed an autoimmune disease that was attacking her red blood cells, and needed blood transfusions ASAP. We almost lost our dog twice in 4 days but MedVet was there for us during the two visits we urgently brought in Vader. And then, we had one more visit for a routine blood transfusion. Today, our little land hippo is doing great. She is not quite out of the woods yet but we hope we never have to come back to MedVet again! If you are hoping to get your pet seen at MedVet, please know that this an emergency vet place, which means pets with urgent needs will be seen first, even if you have been waiting for 5 hours. My little 5 lb dog was attacked by a pit bull. I called this location at 7:15 pm to let them know we were coming in. I was told they would not have a veteranaian on duty until 8:30 pm. I dropped off a sickly stray here at the request of San Jose Animal Control. I left them my phone number so that they could could contact me regarding the cat. After a few days, I called them for an update on the cat since he had been living in my complex's garage for a few months. However, they first said that since the animal was surrendered for Animal Control, I was not technically the owner and they could not provide me any information. I mean, that's okay and it makes sense. I then called animal control and they couldn't find any record of the cat. I'm not sure if this was because MedVet didn't pass along info, or if the cat was put down and I was not notified (they have my number!). Staff was nice and brought the cat in from my car for me. I just wish I could've gotten updates. read more
