We were transferred to this veterinary hospital from our primary care veterinarian at Adobe because our dog required care with a veterinarian Train staff overnight. Adobe had called to ensure that there was a spot for our dog overnight. When we arrived 5p at MedVet, there were some forms to sign, but they immediately admitted and took our dog in to the back area for assessment and treatment. We did not have another opportunity to see our dog before we were expected to leave. They reassured us that the vet would do a full ass assessment and contact us if there was anything urgent that night. We could expect a call the next morning at 7 AM from the overnight vet. We indeed got a call at 7 AM notifying us that our dog was doing much better and she could be discharged. Our treatment from 5 PM to her discharge at 8 AM the next morning costed.2k. I would come here first next time if my dog has a future medical emergency. I think they only treat dogs and cats. read more

I am sure that this is normally a very good place to take your pet. However, my experience was quite different. During a surgical consult, Dr. Ree quoted us a price for a CT scan. We had an important engagement to get to so I did not read the prices quoted in the documents I signed. Yes, I get it, it's my fault for not reading the documents. However, when someone tells me something is going to be $1,000, I expect that I can trust them that in fact the price will be $1,000. Imagine my surprise when the actual price was closer to $1,700 (it might have been $1,600 or $1,800 but it was way more than the quoted price). But what surprises me even more is that this business is willing to call three people liars. Yes, there were three people in the surgical consult so this is the doctor's word against three others. Very disappointing and insulting. My advice is, do not rely on a verbal price quote - only rely on the documentation. I hope your experience is better than mine. read more

The DVMs here are EXCELLENT. Four stars for that reason, despite my review of being a bit of a rant about scheduling and processing visits. The stress is not good for my cat who is now on his last legs, but the D.V.M. we spoke with when that finally happened was great. I also had a really great call with Alex. She called me back when she had time to talk and gave me a truly great perspective on our cats illness. Plus treatment options and the lack of. I was in another vet whose D.V.M. didn't show up, they were across the street. I called MedVet. They said I was next in line. The other vet is literally across the street so it was a 30 second drive. Our family cat is very important because he was my late son's cat and there's a lot of emotional involvement. Are very sick cat cannot stand being in a cage or waiting at a veterinarian and meows constantly with stress. My cat has a serious medical issue with a tumor in the digestive shock. Despite MedVet claiming as part of their "core values" they prioritize "your time" we waited a full two hours, the whole time my cat was suffering tremendously. Our cat meowed in stress for two hours waiting for treatment and painkiller. When we saw Dr.Remesh and the tech named David , they were great. I called MedVet today to explain the situation and say I needed to bring him in but could I get them to respect the time of the appointment. They said, sorry we don't do that." The reason I know it was two hours is because the entire time we had my son's mom and fellow cat guardian on speakerphone, from London. Had we waited 10 minutes or even a half hour of some other urgent care, it would be understandable. If a facility advertises as an urgent care it should be staffed for multitasking, don't you think? read more

They're just here 24/7 when you need them. Our second time here. The latest time, we were greeted warmly and attentively, seen quickly and calmly, and my dog was treated thoroughly and effectively. Everyone of the staff was down to earth, caring, and very competent. Services/options beyond the immediate need were offered, but not pushed at all. After discussion, we settled on a course of aftercare. Cost range estimates were disclosed. Thorough documentation (invoice and treatment notes) were provided - the invoice right away, the notes within hours - for insurance submission purposes. Couldn't ask for more. Prices were, to me, reasonable as well considering the emergency nature of the visit. Staff have to be present and available 24/7 - that availability is absolutely worth a premium in my opinion and it's very reassuring to know if a pet emergency arises, they're here to help. We took our cat to MedVet for a scheduled internal medicine appointment, not an emergency visit. The consultation was $290 plus a $68 "patient care op" fee that felt unnecessary but in the big picture was insignificant. With additional tests and medications the total came to about $1,200 and we were okay with that since it was explained up front. The real issue was what happened after. We waited more than two hours after the appointment with no updates while our cat sat hungry from fasting since the night before. When the medications finally came the assistant began giving instructions meant for another patient's dog, including drugs that could have harmed or even killed our cat. Thankfully we caught the mistake in time. MedVet later admitted they had not followed their own safety protocols and apologized. But no apology can undo the lack of respect for our time or the negligence that put our fur baby at risk. read more

The emergency vet on site carefully and quickly diagnosed her and gave prompt treatment to alleviate the stressful & physical stress she was in. We took our golden retriever into Medvet on a Sunday because she was pawing at her mouth. I could not find anything. However, as soon as we brought her in, they were able to check her and found a stick lodged between her teeth. Immediately , our dog was happy and they did not charge us. Great experience despite the difficult circumstances. I called them while I was on the way to the hospital to describe my dog's emergency and help to provide a background to speed the check in process. As soon as we arrived they received Lola (16 yr old Beagle, liver/tumor internal bleeding) and she was sent directly to the OR. Dr Sarah helped us, soon as she did the scan and realized the bleeding she gave us options but provided her very honest and valuable opinion which was not to proceed with surgery due to Lola's age and the risk so we decided to say goodbye. They handled the situation with the most respect, always trying to make sure Lola was comfortable until her last breath. I think they are very reasonable priced compared to most Emergency vets, believe me I have seen it all! read more

This place is known for their emergency visits and not a regular vet. We went in at 11pm because our pup was choking. The wait felt like forever but we did manage to get out of there before 1am. We were checked in and sent to a room to wait for the doctor right away. When the vet came, she was very calm and nice, putting us at ease as my pup coughed. She was also in PPE since there was a respiratory plague for dogs then - which I greatly appreciated. After discussing what happened and my pup's existing health problems, the doctor and I discussed next steps. She outlined the tests that can be done that evening to me and then follow up tests that my regular vet can do tomorrow when they open. I felt safe and heard. It was a long night but medvet really took care of our furbaby. I would definitely recommend this place when it's urgent and your normal vet cannot see you. read more

I truly cannot say enough good things about this establishment. Not only did they save our baby, but they were so kind and helpful along this process. It's never easy when your pet is sick, but running him into the office with a very low heartbeat, and only moments left to live the whole staff Kicked into action and saved our baby. They were very transparent with all costs, gave me a full breakdown of all costs, so I can make a decision on what I can afford and what needs to be done. It took him about a week to start getting back to normal but after the care of MedVet and all the wonderful vet tech, he is happy and thriving and home safe where he should be. read more

The doctors here are all knowledgeable and thorough. We had our first visit with MedVet in the middle of the night as our senior dog was in respiratory distress. We called first and were greeted immediately upon our arrival by staff that took our dog back back for care. After consultation with Dr. Chase who gently told us our options for care, we decided that trying to prolong life was not the right choice for our pup, and we planned to support her to end life. I was able to go home and get my other child so that our famly could be together at her passing. Had to take my 7lb Chihuahua in on a Wednesday evening.. he was having trouble walking with muscle spasms and panting. Arrived a little after 7pm and they took him right in. Luckily they weren't too busy yet.. The staff were great and Dr. Chase explained what was happening and what the treatment options were. Received a quote, which turned out to be higher than the actual fees. It wasn't cheap, but knowing Max was getting good care was worth it! I was there for a little over 4 hours because Max had to get oxygen and the results of some of the tests took a while to get, but this was all explained to me. Truly so grateful for this place. We found out my dog had a tumor on his spleen that was bleeding. I called MedVet in the morning to get a consultation with a surgeon and they had an appointment available for that day. My dog had his spleen removed later that same day! The staff was so efficient and already knew my dog's history from two separate vet offices. Dr. Nielsen completed the surgery in less than an hour and the staff communicated with me throughout the whole process. My dog was discharged the next day and I can tell they took great care of him. I took my GSD mix Sammie here twice in 3 days because she stole a duck neck wrapped in plastic at a store and swallowed it whole...and then she found the plastic she vomited back up later and ate it again!! It was extremely stressful both times, but I was so grateful for every staff member and the veterinarian! They were AMAZING with Sammie and I felt like I was in good hands. I was updated appropriately at every step and was told what to expect. The facility was very clean (their cleaning folks were there the second time actually) and I appreciated the available restroom for pet parents and the little coffee bar. I also really liked seeing the tv screen with the pet patients names of who was waiting to be seen. Small things really add up! My dog is very picky with people so I was pleasantly surprised when she saw the vet two days later and greeted her with tail wags! I hope to never have to come back for emergency services but I feel a lot better knowing where I can go to get the best care. read more

My furbaby Yoda was not feeling well and I was extremely grateful to have this place in our back pocket, thanks to our friend's recommendation. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly front desk receptionist who quickly took an assessment of Yoda's condition and shortly sent me the registration form via text. This needs to be filled out for all first time patients. Once I filled out the form, a tech came by to take Yoda's vitals. Once that was completed, Yoda was placed in a queue along with other pets which was prioritized by the severity of each case. It took about an hour before Yoda was able to get seen but Dr. Peterson was very knowledgeable and gave a very fair assessment/recommendation on next steps based on Yoda's condition. She was also very kind and patiently answered all our questions. Once the consult was over, a tech came in to give us a transparent breakdown of all costs for all the care recommended by the doctor prior to administering fluids and medication for Yoda. Overall, my husband and I are very pleased with the staff, process, and overall care at MedVet. Everyone was empathetic and friendly during our entire visit, this was truly appreciated especially when our beloved pets are feeling sick. Highly recommend! 4.5 Stars read more

We spent a long evening at MedVet in Mountain View last week. Our 9 month old kitten was quite sick, and when I contacted our regular vet at 8 pm, she recommended we bring the kitten to MedVet. Dr Rachel Jorgensen was on duty, and she and her staff were exceptionally kind, patient, and efficient in caring for our little kitten. He had to be kept there for two days, but they called regularly with updates, and were very thorough not only in sharing information with us, but also listening attentively to the details we told them. The clinic isn't as "fancy" as our regular vet's office, but they're THERE for emergency treatment, and that goes a long way. I'm so glad we visited. They saved our kitten's life, and I'd go in a heartbeat if we need emergency pet care again. read more

And I rushed her to Medvet which was my friend had taken their dog in the past. They were so great from the moment they answered the phone. Til the next morning when I was able to take my dog home. Took my dog here twice recently for bladder stones & UTI, & an obstruction in her urethra caused by a stone. When I was waiting in the waiting area for my dog to be seen, I heard the staff talking shit about some of the pet owners whose pets they treated... the Caucasian female with a lot of tattoos, her in particular, talked the most shit, saying one of their clients was "so stupid!" That was very off-putting. The first time I came here, Dr. Ramesh was able to remove the obstruction in her urethra & emptied my dog's bladder. After tests concluded that she in fact had bladder stones and a UTI, I scheduled surgery with her primary vet. I ended up having to take her back here bc I could see she was experiencing another obstruction due to straining... when I took her back here, one of the techs just grabbed my dog from me without explanation. I was like, wait, excuse me, where are you taking her? You don't just grab someone's pet without giving an explanation. So she said, oh sorry, I probably should've told you I'm gonna take her to the back to get her vitals. I'll bring her back to you afterwards for the consultation. They never brought my dog back to me for the consultation, I had to remind them... I wanted her to be with me during the consultation so I know what the game plan was & to make sure I was comfortable with it before letting them take her to the back & start any procedures. When I brought this up, the girl with the tattoos said, next time if I want my dog to be with me during the consultation, to let them know, lol... wtf... another member on the team told me they would bring her back to me after they ran her vitals. Later, I allowed them to proceed with getting the obstruction removed but the Caucasian girl with the tattoos said, sorry, we just couldn't do it this time... they couldn't successfully go through the urethra this time around... sounded really retaliatory to me after I complained. Oh, not to mention, that same girl brought my dog out too quickly after the procedure... my dog was still completely out of it and couldn't even hold her head up, she was like here, I figured she'd want to wait with you instead. Again, off putting. I don't feel like they gave my dog enough time to recuperate before letting her go home. Unprofessional here. They talk shit about their clients and some of them look like they don't even want to be there... when they have to open the door for clients during the late hours or when they answer the phone, they're like HELLO? Never coming back here again. Do not take your pet here. Fuck this place and everyone but Dr. Ramesh. read more

I wish MedVet could be my regular vet. Both my indoor cats have been generally healthy needing very little care, but my tuxedo Pixel needed instant care. My regular vet did not deliver lab results, and I found myself asking for them twice a month later. It turned into an emergency situation. MedVet took all the tests asap and gave me an estimate. Furthermore, they even refunded for overestimating. Dr. Laplume called me personally! This does not happen anymore! I appreciated it so much. She had genuine empathy and we discussed the next course of action. After many tests and a trip to SJ for an ultrasound he was deemed terminally ill. She was kind enough to administer some kitty prednisone for his quality of life. It really helped him to the end. The pick up process and dealing with everyone was great. I love MedVet. Every animal deserves this loving treatment. I would definitely travel to the Southbay from the Peninsula again for this emergency treatment of my pets. read more
