Hi, my name is HemiCat and Beacon took really good care of me when I wasn't doing very well!

I was in a panic state and it was after midnight. The staff was great. They were understanding and went right to work on my cat, HemiCat. I wish to thank each and every one of you who were so very kind and understanding to me and my precious HemiCat! God bless you all!! Everything went quite smoothly even though I was in panic mode!

This review is LONG overdue. My sweet, Winston, ended up at Beacon for eating 3 out of his 4 dog boots while I was out of town. Beacon staff was communicative, empathetic, and relieved my anxieties even while I was trying to travel back to the Bay Area. Winston remained in the ER for about 4 nights and he was well loved and taken care of while this dog mom was panicking. Even after he was discharged, the staff checked in on Winston via text, phone, and always welcomed us back if I had any concerns. Shortly after his recovery period was over (at home), he was having some GI issues and ended up testing positive for c diff. Dr. Amy was truly my saving grace and helped this dog mom from spiraling yet again. Dr. Amy was and is amazing! She helped us get an appointment immediately and we were able to get the appropriate medical attention and treatment. We are SO lucky and grateful to have had such a positive experience with Beacon in such stressful and scary times! Aside from these two scary incidents, Beacon is always a phone call away for a quick consult if/when something happens and lets us know what the next steps should be to make sure my boy is okay. Thank you, thank you, thank you Beacon Vet Specialists. Winston and I are extremely grateful for you all!

Referred by our vet and I am so thankful we came. From the first phone call the team was very friendly, helpful, and incredibly patient as I asked about their doctor and procedure for orthopedic for our dog. Upon arrival we were instantly greeted by the team and everyone was very helpful, and seemed really happy. Most places are understaffed but this team seemed to be more of a family who genuinely care about their clients. When we got to the exam room Jaycee helped us and she was very sweet. Asked questions about our dogs past and current concerns. She took the time to get to know our pup before grabbing the doctor. We saw Dr. Fitch and he was also amazing. Very approachable, listened to concerns and did a very thorough exam. Both Jaycee and Dr. Fitch got down on the ground with our pup and made sure she was comfortable as they examined her. The Xray found what the problem was and I was not pressured to make a decision but provided options. Based on what was going on with our pup we decided on surgery. While my review doesn't include the surgery portion, I can already tell the level of care our pup will receive. The front desk team made the check out process a breeze and also stuck up for our pup when someone that came into the office asked if it was safe. Our pup is a very friendly pit bull and it was nice to have the team stick up for her and reassure the person how friendly she is. I am shocked by any reviews that is less than 5 stars. By far this has been the best visit we have had for any health visit for our pup. I can't recommend Beacon, Dr. Fitch and the entire team enough. This nervous mom was put to ease and feels very confident with the team at Beacon.

We are deeply thankful to the entire team at Beacon for caring for Kumo over the past three weeks. He was diagnosed with aplastic anemia and required numerous blood transfusions and tests. During his stay, he was cared for by nearly everyone. Kumo's case was very challenging, and despite his strength and determination, his condition continued to worsen. We made the heartbreaking decision to let him go, but we take comfort in knowing that he fought so bravely and was surrounded by so much love. He truly couldn't have made it this far without the dedication and support of the team. Thank you for showing us, especially Kumo, so much kindness and compassion. The level of care shown to Kumo during his journey was beyond anything we have hoped for, and everyone who touched his life deserves to be recognized.

My cat Mr. Nimbus was injured last week and by monday had developed an abscess that needed immediate treatment. I took him to Beacon, we were seen right away and the wonderful doctors and nurses took very good care of him. Additionally the office is very clean & spacious, with lots of parking in the back and an emergency entrance. Unfortunately Mr. Nimbus had made two successful attempts at taking off his cone and getting at his stitches after this. When I brought him back again, the people at Beacon greeted him and treated him with patience and compassion. Beacon provided Mr. Nimbus the proper help to keep him healing comfortably & we thank you all for it! Special thank you to Doctor Appel for providing us excellent service & consideration. Mr. Nimbus & I highly recommend Beacon Veterinary specialists to anyone who has an animal in need of care. They are open 24/7 so don't hesitate to call or come by!

Brought my 12 year old Shih Tzu at this location and I thought I was gonna lose him that night. My dog has history of congestive heart failure, and had a syncope. The doctors were great and very realistic. Kept me updated every so often. All the staff are compassionate and pleasant. They gave my baby boy another chance to be with us longer. Thank you guys so much for all that you do and I appreciate each and one of you!

I had to bring my two orange cats in because they had both started vomiting and the stopped eating for days. The staff at Beacon were professional, compassionate and did so much to calm me down. They were ultra thorough, and although it was a costly two visits, I am so grateful that both of my boys are back to normal. I learned the hard way to get pet insurance, and all of the staff highly recommended the best options. So many things happened over the course of almost a week to give the review justice, but suffice it to say, I would bring my boys back in an emergency, in a heartbeat! Thank you doctors and staff of Beacon Veterinary Specialists!

I took my big boy last night and the team was amazing. They were accommodating and respectful. From the front desk check in process, the purple doctor and the amazing nurse Shawna. Shawna let me stay and comfort my boy the whole time. She was nice and explained everything to me from the cost to the treatment thoroughly. She even sat next to me on the floor to answer my questions while I comforted my boy. It's not a nice feeling being in the emergency room but our experience was positive. Thank you!

The staff oooohed and aaahhhed over my handsome man.

Absolutely amazing. Consult with Dr. fitch was worth every penny. He spent a lot of time with us and answered all my questions.

Xena after Tribial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) surgery.

Staff was very professional and friendly. Dr. Fitch was amazing and was very thorough in explaining the procedure Xena was going to receive. Dr. Fitch and all the staff were amazing!!! The amazing thing was a cancellation the next morning so that Xena could get the surgery done. Everything went very fast. Update: After 1 week she is healing nicely though not putting any weight on her leg yet. She is in great spirits. We monitor her meds especially for pain. Normal activity will take about 12 to 16 weeks.

It was really important to us to be able to bring him ourselves and have that sense of control. I had also heard too many stories of larger operations misplacing pets or losing ashes during transport, which felt unimaginable. Some of the places we spoke to also felt very transactional. It didn't feel like they were meeting us in what was a very real, emotional moment. Restful Pets was completely different from the first call. They were genuinely compassionate. Being local made everything easier, and their turnaround was much faster than what we were quoted elsewhere. It's definitely no-frills, with no big packages or upsells, but that ended up being exactly what we needed. What mattered most was knowing he was close and that we were in control of the process, with someone who treated us with care. That made all the difference.

After some searching online I came across Restful Pets and after reading a few reviews - I knew this was my best option. I immediately called and Mark, the owner answered. His tone was perfect given the setting/circumstances. He came within 1.5 hours to my home, allowed me to say my goodbyes, explained the process to me, and took her in a larger size "suitcase" which was hard to see but I understand that's how the process works. Within 2 weeks I received a text message from "Justine" letting us know Princess was ready for me to pick her up; throughout this entire process my only complaint or complaint would be the message when notifying the family that their fur baby is ready for pick up, it stated "good news, Princess is ready for pick up" which in one way, I understand how it can be perceived as good news - I've been without her for 2 weeks and receiving her remains should feel like "good news" but for me, it wasn't good news. It was confirmation I'd never see her face again so I felt the choice of words weren't the best. Besides that - they did such a good job and made an already painful process less stressful. Cost - it was as pricey as anywhere else you're looking. As a stay at home mom, I can't afford much and had to research quite a few places and the price is about the same everywhere $20-30 difference max and again, they came to my home and took care of the arrangements. The only thing I felt was overly priced was the clay paw print, I paid $100 for her print and it was gorgeous - don't get me wrong. But the clay molding can be purchased for $20 so $80 for the labor of doing it seemed a bit unreasonable but I wanted a final paw print so I paid it. The box I received with her ashes was also gorgeous. Again, great services and owner was a great person. I hope to not need to use their services anytime soon but would if needed and I do highly recommend if searching for someone.

Kwasi is definitely a gem of a person; he is very compassionate, and being a pet owner himself, he understands the stresses that a passing of a beloved pet can have on its owner and family. There was no rush on when he could pick up; he told us to take as much time as we needed and to call him when we were ready for her to be picked up. After he picked her up to have a private cremation done, we kept in contact with him and he provided updates on when her urn would be ready. After 10 days from when he picked her up, he contacted me to let me know that her urn was ready. He went above and beyond and drove here to personally bring her to us. We would have been okay with having to pick her up from where ever she was, but the fact that Kwasi did this really touched us. Again, he is truly a gem of a person. I strongly advise against trusting this clinic with any major surgery. I brought my rescue cat here…read morefor treatment of nose cancer, which they had already diagnosed as being present throughout his entire nose. Despite this, they completely ignored one side of his nose during treatment and committed multiple acts of severe professional negligence. 1. Failure to Follow Agreed Treatment Plan: I paid for and consulted on an aggressive, complete nose removal. The consulting veterinarian explicitly stated that the surgery "would be a waste" unless the entire nose was removed because leaving any cancer behind would cause it to return aggressively. Instead, a general practice surgeon--whom I was never permitted to speak with--made a unilateral mid-surgery decision to perform a minimal "scrape," leaving 2/3 of the tumor and visible cancerous bulbs intact. 2. Complete Violation of Informed Consent: If the surgeon did not feel capable or comfortable performing the agreed-upon nose removal once my cat was sedated, they had a strict medical and ethical obligation to call me from the operating room. By failing to contact me, they denied me my legal right to decline a substandard procedure, wake my cat up, and immediately transfer him to a qualified veterinary oncologist or specialist who could perform the surgery correctly. 3. Total Lack of Post-Operative Communication: When I picked up my cat after major surgery, the clinic provided absolutely zero communication or discharge instructions. I had to discover via text message that they failed to complete the agreed-upon service. They then falsely claimed the cancer was only on one side, directly contradicting their own previous diagnosis and what was clearly visible. Because of their failure to remove the tumor as promised, the cancer returned with extreme aggression. I had to euthanize my cat because this clinic robbed him of his only opportunity to receive a proper, complete surgery from a qualified professional. I have the full text message logs, emails, and images confirming this timeline. A formal complaint regarding this professional negligence and failure to obtain informed consent is being filed directly with the State Veterinary Board. Do not trust them with your animal's life. Response to owner : There is a fundamental difference between a "medically complex" adjustment and a complete change in surgical scope without owner consent. The explicit, documented purpose of Tom Tom's consultation was a complete nose removal. I was explicitly told by your staff that a partial removal or "minimal scrape" would not be effective given the aggressive nature of his cancer. Yet, while he was sedated, Dr. Eileen made the unilateral decision to pivot to a minimal scrape, leaving active cancerous bulbs behind, without ever calling me to get my informed consent. By failing to call me from the operating room, you denied me my legal right as a client to decline a sub-standard procedure. Had I been contacted, I would have immediately instructed the clinic to wake him up so I could transfer him to a qualified veterinary oncologist or specialist who was capable of performing the agreed-upon surgery. Furthermore, your clinic attempted to retain 100% of the funds for a complete nose removal until I forced accountability through a series of extensive emails. Your own text message records confirm that the surgeon only focused on one side of the nose, directly contradicting the agreed-upon treatment plan. This is a clear issue of professional negligence and a failure to obtain informed consent, not a misunderstanding of "expectations." I will not be having further private discussions with management to help cover up this clinic's lack of informed consent. The time for discussion was when Tom Tom was on the operating table. All further correspondence from me will be handled directly through the formal complaint I am filing with the State Veterinary Board.
