Opened since 1975, Ari's place is a nice restaurant for a cheap and fast breakfast or lunch. It's a greasy spoon, with good service; no frills, but just good eats. Decor looks untouched since its opening which gives it that extra charm. It's like a warm hug on a cold day.

Find good westside diners. This is the mission I've chosen to accept. This urgent pursuit brought me to Aris Place, and I'm sure glad it did. My wee one goes to school in this hood, and after drop off my partner and I snuck off for some greasy spoonin'. Though their lunch items sung to me off of the yuge plastic menus (helllllo diner poutine, I will be back), we opted for all day breakfasts. Fried tomatoes, eggs over easy with sausage and peameal breakfast sandwiches hit our table in record time, and they were devoured even faster.

Really good cup of coffee!

Overall had a great breakfast. The staff was conscientious and polite when the atmosphere was quaint. It's like sitting in an old school restaurant it's a little bit dated but sort of fits the atmosphere. I had the Mega breakfast number one pancakes were light and fluffy eggs were made just to my liking overall good meal.

Gord and I had brunch today at Aris Place. We were driving around looking for a place to eat and it caught our eye. Gord ordered a Corned Beef and Cheese Omelette (it came with toast). He said it was delicious and he'd get it again. There was a lotta meat! I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki Dinner with home fries rather than French fries. It was supposed to come with a Greek Salad but I passed on it since I'm not a fan. It came with garlic bread. The chicken was delicious ... it had a nice spice to it and was juicy and tender. The tzatziki was tasty. I was surprised that rice wasn't an option as a side ... that would have made this meal even better ... it seemed odd to have French fries or home fries with it. I'd get it again. We'll be back! Our server was friendly and efficient.

Awesome cheeseburger!!

If you want a kick-ass cheeseburger and don't mind traveling to this part in the city, then this is it. Freshly grilled (aren't they all), thick juicy flavourfull patty cooked perfectly (not as easy as it sounds), fresh bun (trust me, many places mess this up too), served with excellent service, tucked on a busy and cozy street with various types of cafes and restaurants. Can't wait to go there again.

Homemade peameal bacon burger. Delish!

Aris never tries to hide what it is. It's a classic diner style restaurant that has everything on the menu. The staff are extremely friendly and are always happy to have a chat. The food is exactly what you would expect. It's tasty, fresh and extremely cheap. I am a huge regular for dinner and also a breakfast after a big night. They constantly keep the coffee coming, the portions are huge and the beer is cheap! What more do you need! Aris is a Roncesvalles institution. If you haven't been, you're not a local!

Yum!

We were looking at a 40+ minute wait outside of The Ace so we decided to try Ari's next door. That wait time really worked in our favour. There was a table ready for us right away, the prices were low, the food and portions fantastic. The service was a little curt but warmed up nicely by the end. The kitchen staff were all super friendly and welcoming. They were really busy but we all got what we ordered, no problems there. My steak and eggs were cooked to perfection - rare and sunny side up. And the coffee was hot and strong. If you're in the area and looking for a proper brunch with no pretensions you can't go wrong.

Excellent food, good prices, great service, and pleasant atmosphere. The place hasn't changed over the years, still the best diner in town.

The flavours and textures in the Southern Breakfast and sweet potato salad weren't typical of what you usually find in a Toronto brunch. The best part was the homemade biscuit and gravy included in the meal. The donut was light with a fluffy mascarpone filling and the coffee was very tasty for brewed coffee. The diner itself is really cute, with nice small booths and some high-top seating. The washrooms are on ground level with the dining area and are exceptionally clean and well lit. I suggest visiting on a weekday and adding yourself to the online waitlist rather than just showing up. I'm aware that this place can be very difficult to get into on the weekends. The service was great and friendly, and I would be happy to return.

You can enter your name and party size and you'll be informed how many people are in front of you in the lineup; that way, you can plan your approximate arrival time. You can check the status of the lineup with the link texted to you. Once your table's ready, you'll receive a text message with 10 minutes grace per. There are 7 booths and 5 bar chairs available for dine-in. The menu feels different from a typical diner and offers great variety of comfort food and drinks. We ordered "Sweet Potato Salad", "Southern Breakfast", and "Hot Turkey". The Southern Breakfast was a filling plate with eggs, bacon, grits, gravy, fermented greens and their famous buttermilk biscuit, while the Hot Turkey was a really interesting combination of stuffing French toast, smoked turkey, gravy, cranberry chutney and maple butter. The Sweet Potato Salad was a nice side to balance out the heavier dishes, and everything had that homemade comfort-food feel. The staff are friendly and helpful and there's Green P parking available on Queen East.

The atmosphere was welcoming and had the classic charm you'd expect from a neighborhood favorite. Unfortunately, our experience didn't quite live up to the hype. The food was decent but fairly average. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing stood out as memorable either. The Irish breakfast was not Irish at all. For a place with such a strong reputation, I expected more flavor and attention to detail. The biggest disappointment was the service. The service was slow, they never checked on the table, and several requests (3 of the 5 drinks, syrup for the french toast, water refills) were either forgotten or took a long time to arrive. The restaurant wasn't especially busy, which made the lack of attentiveness even more noticeable. About 20 mins after we finished our food, we decided to head inside to pay and then our server noticed we left and accused us of walking on our tab but we had the payment receipt! I can see why some people may enjoy this spot, and perhaps I visited on an off day, but based on this experience, I found the food ordinary and the service well below expectations.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.

I would recommend getting a different side. - Saganaki - not only was this a yummy appetizer, the show was entertaining.
