I can't say enough good things about Arin. I travel a lot for work and spend a lot of time in Pasadena so I figured I would get a trainer. I'm really busy so I wanted to work with someone who was efficient and also not super talkative and chatty unless we need to be. Gym time is my quiet time for myself, so I really appreciate that in him. He has excellent programming (my butt has never looked so good!) and keeps it interesting with a variety of movements. If I ever do have questions about Fitness, he usually has the answer. He also is pretty good about giving supplement recommendations if you want them, but doesn't shove them down your throat. Let me start this out by saying I have no background in fitness or weight training, whatsoever. I started seeing Arin about 7 months ago. I had just turned 28 years old, and decided that I needed learn how to do the whole "gym thing". I knew Arin was a good trainer because he came highly recommended... specifically for his patience (He was gonna need it with me) but also because he is very knowledgeable in many aspects of physical fitness. One of the issues that brought me to Arin was that I found myself winded and exhausted after doing simple things like running up a flight of stairs. I knew I was headed in the wrong direction with my physical health but I didn't want to waste hundreds of dollars on gym membership only to stop going after a few weeks and never cancel my membership (who's also done that? I know I did that too many times...) I wanted to learn everything I needed to know in order to target the right muscles and use the gym equipment correctly/safely. I started working with Arin around 2 months ago, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it changed my life. I came to him very out of shape, with very little muscle and quite a bit of fat from living an unhealthy lifestyle. The reason Arin Training is so awesome is because it is so much more than personal training. Most trainers simply meet their clients once or twice a week, help their clients for those 1 or 2 hours, and that's it. There is no discussion of diet, supplements, or what other workouts to do when at the gym alone. The result is spending 1-2 hours a week being healthy and active, and confused the other 160 something hours. When you start working with Arin, your entire lifestyle changes, and you live the way you should all 168 hours of the week. That's because one of the first things you'll do with him is have an hour long nutrition consultation where he tells you what to eat, what not to, and why, backing it up with scientific studies and evidence that goes down to the level of molecules and enzymes. Onto the actual workouts, regardless of how often you see Arin, he will develop a program for you to follow on the days you're not working with him. This man changed my life in SO many ways- and ALL FOR THE BETTER. I first came to ArinTraining exactly 1 year ago. I was tried of trying everything under the sun to lose weight and get healthier. I did not like that he kept trying to change my schedule around for other clients. His free sessons are so vague. He charge me for the intial assesment when he told me it was free. Arin has a solid process and methodology that gets you to actionable results. Don't expect to be lifting weights right out of the gate. Arin has a tried-and-true way of going about weight training, which requires the proper prep to build a solid foundation of stretching and activation to ensure you're fit for weight lifting. I have yet to strain or injure myself because of his expert teachings. Arin is honest and straight forward through and through and does not try and upsell you on anything. My original intention was to only sign up for one 10-session package but, due to his organization and thoroughness, I ended up extending for 20 more sessions. I trained with Arin for 12 months after I had knee surgery. I had become lazy and used my knee pain as an excuse. As a result I put on 30 pounds of unwanted weight. After I met with Arin and we discussed a training plan, we also discussed a nutritional plan. The training sessions I had with Arin started off exploring my body and what my strength and weaknesses were. From there Arin was able to build a workout built specifically for me and my needs. I trained with Arin 2 times a week for 12 months. He is very cautious about proper body positioning and teaching the correct motions of each exercise. Arin utilizes Evernote so I was able to track my workouts by week and have the program on available any time I wanted to work out on my own. Arin is extremely dedicated to learning about each individual and building a plan that will work. On top of the training, I kept a very specific log on my nutrition. Arin and I set up a nutritional plan to help me build muscle, lose fat and stay energized. I could see the results after only a couple weeks of following the plan. I decided to hire a trainer when I had a bad experience trying on clothes!! More importantly I was tired of being overweight. I realized that I needed to take a more aggressive approach to weight loss and working out then doing cardio a few times a week and buying healthy groceries once in a while To be honest I was skeptical because my view of personal trainers were the knuckleheads that walk around my gym trying to solicit business however I decided to take the plunge. I interviewed two trainers and while the other one was nice enough she was just a little to "cheerleader like" for me which I knew would drive me batty after a while. When I met with Arin I was pleased with how professional he was. He also was completely non judgmental and supportive right from the get go. He is extremely personable and has a great attitude and even on those days where I am feeling a little unmotivated, a few minutes into our sessions I get a burst of energy and power through our workouts. What is also great about Arin is that he is always available via email to answer any questions that I might have. He is also well organized, for instance I am on vacation for the next 10 days and he wrote up a well organized workout for me to follow while I am gone. 3 months later I have dropped inches and my clothes are fitting well and some are starting to fall off!! Betty I need to respectfully disagree with you. While Arin does talk to other trainers during our sessions, it does not deter from our sessions and face it the man is not a robot!! Also yes he has had to reschedule from time to time but he always makes sure I am okay with the change. Also I did receive my 2 free sessions so you may need to look at your invoice. When I sought out a trainer I was looking for someone local who was educated in fitness (more than simply a personal trainer certification) and who practiced what they preached. Arin definitely fits the bill. He's very patient with showing you the proper form for each exercise and if something doesn't feel right to you he can suggest alternative exercises to get at the same muscle group. With Arin its not just "show up, train for an hour, and you're done". Rather, Arin customizes the workout to you and your schedule, and with each phase of your workout plan he explains to you the purpose behind it. And even within a particular phase, he will vary the exercises so that you don't get bored, and so that your muscles are constantly challenged. Arin's program doesn't end with the the workout sessions - he will also recommend what foods to eat and not to eat, and why, including nutritional supplements.
