Good Ground Tavern - Freshly baked pizza and appetizers for lunch

I came in for happy hour during the week and ordered a bunch of the appetizers that were on special. The focaccia bread with whipped ricotta and honey was outstanding. The bread tastes freshly made and was so fluffy. The baked clams were hearty and delicious, served on a bed of Himalayan sea salt which made the dish feel elevated. The pizza we ordered had an extremely thin crust that was perfectly crunchy and had just the right amount of sauce and cheese on it. Trivia was about to start after happy hour which I wish I had time to stick around for -- it looked like the teams that were forming were some stiff competition. TL;DR - Don't let the fancy atmosphere put you off from trying this place, especially during happy hour!

We were at the Canoe Place Inn for a comedy show and decided to dine here just before the show. Wow…read morewhat an amazing meal and experience we had here. Our server brought out this delicious focaccia bread with a side of whipped ricotta and honey. The bread was seasoned with herbs and super soft and pillowy. If you do want extra serving of bread you do get charged for it. For drinks they have cocktails, beer and spritzes. We were there just after St. Patrick's Day so they had some drinks and food off the special holiday menu. I got the Captain's punch which was very balanced and fruity. Everything on the menu sounded great it was hard to decide what to get. The host and server both recommended their stone baked pizzas since they said the restaurant was known for it. We decided to grab it as an appetizer. We ordered the basic Neapolitano pizza since my husband isn't super adventurous in taste. It was light, very flavorful and just enough crispness. We ended up saving a couple of slices to take home. For entrees I got the olive oil poached halibut and my husband got the short rib special. We both loved our dishes. It was just the right amount for entrees. The halibut was super flakey, light and flavorful. I liked the earthiness the veggies brought to the dish paired with the delicate halibut. The short ribs were also very good according to my husband. He said that it was super tender and was really good with his mashed potatoes. We also got dessert of their doughnuts that came paired with a sweet caramel sauce and fresh raspberry sauce. The doughnuts were nice and warm, light and airy. It paired well with the sauces. We were so stuffed that we took the rest home as well. I would definitely recommend booking a reservation with them since the restaurant can get packed pretty quickly especially if there are special events going on in the facility. We were lucky that we went when they opened so we got a table right away without reservation. Maybe an hour later there were definitely patrons waiting. Everyone was great from the host to our server. The bathrooms in the inn was also very clean. Thanks for the great meal and hospitality. We would be returning again in the future.

I did struggle finding something that excited me. It was your typical upscale but unimaginative menu. However, I am pleased to say that the food was delicious and the portions were very good. The wait staff was outstanding. Very often, during a business meeting at other restaurants, I have had waitors interrupt the train of thought ... or mid-sebtence swoop in and ask if everything is alright or if more drinks are needed. Here, our waitress did a great job of appearing during very good times and not being overbearing, yet at the same time being helpful and attentive. The atmosphere is okay. Inside is kind of typical of an upscale corporate event-style venue. The upper outside deck is fantastic with views of the water and comfortable seating. I would come back if I was in the area. Though there are better food options elsewhere in the Hamptons, for a sit down restaurant that you can do business in, it hits all the right notes. Prices are high, as expected, in the Hamptons.

The description of the restaurant, the menus and the reviews online made us to decide to give them a try. We're so glad that we did! We entered through the bar entrance which was lively but not crazy loud. There was a musician setting up in one corner of the bar area. We could hear him during our dinner but it was not at all distracting (and he was quite good). We were greeted by one of the hosts (who I now believe may be one of the owners). We were welcomed and escorted to a table in the dining room right behind the bar area. From what I could determine, there were at least two other dining areas and an outside dining area (for dining during the nicer weather). Our server quickly came to welcome us, ask if we had questions about the menu / specials and to take our drink order. She was attentive, pleasant and was able to quickly and accurately answer questions that we had (we have some dietary restrictions and needed to verify some ingredients. She knew immediately what we could order to dine safely. We started our order with the Chiccharon appetizer. I had anticipated that the item would be traditional crispy Chiccaron. Instead the dish was more of a pork belly in a broth. We actually enjoyed that much more! It was plentiful, cooked to perfection and flavorful. For dinner my wife and our friend ordered the sea bass special. They both thought it was plentiful, perfectly prepared and tasted great. I ordered the pork chop with spicy cherry peppers in a light evoo broth. I told our server that I wasn't eating potatoes or rice and asked for a recommendation for a substitute. She recommended the broccolini which was a perfect alternative. My pork chop was served perfectly (medium, juicy,) and was huge! We passed on dessert but the options looked amazing. We will absolutely be back again SOON. Thank you.

There was a hair in it (I've worked in a restaurant before so I was extremely understanding about that). I sent it back for a new one and they took it off the bill without me asking. My husband ordered the burger and he devoured it. The truffle fries are a must. Last time they had a better more varied beer selection. This time they only had one IPA on tap but it was good. Overall a great experience and I'd come back again!

Refined Dining with Just a Few Misses at Dopo Argento, Southampton…read more Patrizia and I visited Dopo Argento in Southampton for a Sunday afternoon meal around 1 pm. The restaurant wasn't crowded, which made for a calm and enjoyable atmosphere. Starters: We ordered the sourdough bread service (not complimentary), which came with a hummus dip. The bread had a rustic, brick-oven style crust--crispy outside, soft inside--and paired nicely with our appetizer. We then split the Tuna Tartare, which was delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared. That said, it was served on its own with no chips or crostini, so we ended up using the bread we had ordered. A small touch that would make a big difference. Mains: Patrizia had the Salmon Oreganata. The portion was generous and cooked very well, but it arrived solo on the plate without any sides. We both felt it would shine more with a vegetable or starch--something like spinach, asparagus, or potato. I chose the Paccheri Cacio e Pepe, which was excellent. The pasta was fresh, perfectly al dente, and the sauce had just the right balance of richness and peppery bite. Drinks & Service: We started with two cocktails, then shared a crisp bottle of Italian sparkling water with our meal. Service was warm, efficient, and attentive, adding to the experience. Dessert & Coffee: We finished with the Tiramisu, which was light, fluffy, and not overly sweet, alongside a cappuccino--a perfect close. Overall: Our total came to about $235 for two, and we left a generous tip for the excellent service. We chose to sit indoors since it was too humid outside, but both options are available. We're giving 4 stars because of minor blemishes--the salmon plated all alone, and the tuna tartare lacking an accompaniment. Still, the food was excellent, the vibe relaxed, and the service top-notch. Definitely worth a visit--check it out before the summer ends and see for yourself!.

There were 6 of us for brunch and none of us had been here before. The Shipwright's Daughter rivals many excellent experiences we had and surpasses most. The staff was super friendly and did everything they could to make our experience memorable. The brunch menu offers a nice assortment of options as we had one member in our party who had some eating restrictions. We started off with both raw and roasted oysters, both of which, we some of the best we have ever had. I love Shashuka. I've never had it with tomatillos. This version is now my favorite. I enjoyed the play between savory and acid. I chose my eggs to be prepared over easy expecting the yolks to add the desired richness that tomatillos can handle without overpowering their bite. What set this version apart for me was the addition of the pickled vegetables. They greatly complimented the tomatillos with their own sweetness and acidity that made for a well balanced bite. Others in our party felt similarly, that their meals were so flavorful and so well execucted that it made for a superb dining experience.

Came here on a Thursday night and was able to grab two seats at the bar. I started off with a cosmo which was made perfectly, served in an insulated martini glass to keep it nice and cold. For starters we had the charbroiled oysters which were unlike any oyster dish I've ever had. Topped with garlic, parmesan and sriracha, the sauce that comes off of these bad boys gets soaked up with the focaccia its served with. Honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten. We also had fried calamari which was solid. For mains, I had the veal Milanese which was perfectly cooked. Crispy, topped with fresh tomatoes and arugula plus shaved parmesan. My brother had the lobster pasta which I tried and was out of this world. The shitake mushrooms in this dish really add a depth of flavor you don't normally find in a lobster pasta. I haven't stopped thinking about those oysters and will absolutely be back. Everything in the Hamptons is expensive, but this place is where you want to spend your money.
