This place back in the day was the CPI. How many people remember this, I do not know, but I am so happy they reopened and renovated it. It's a great venue for practically anything you need. We went for a comedy show and it was awesome! I love this venue and will definitely be back for other events they have coming up. We saw Joe Devito the night we went, and for those who don't know him, he is hysterical! He's also such a nice down to earth guy who hung out with us for a while after the show. He talked to us, took pictures with us, and was just like one of us! I also liked the fact that when I took a picture with him, he wasn't that much taller than me! He's so cute and very, very funny! The entire staff that night was also awesome, very friendly and seemed to really have fun that night as well. We will definitely be back :-) read more

I came here for a wedding. It was a beautiful wedding. The food was great too, but I'm not sure if the food was catered by the same place or if it was brought in. The employees here were well mannered, polite, and very accommodating. Everything from the outside part to the inside of the venue was well put together. The only thing I didn't particularly like was how the bathrooms were hidden, and I was so confused about was, how to find it that I went through so many doors. They accepted a cancellation on the phone two days before check-in because my girlfriend had injured her leg but then refused to refund my $1,000 payment sending me an email that showed that the reservation could not be canceled I can't begin to imagine why the woman who answered my call. Canoe place is the best of what the Hamptons has to offer. The restaurant itself is located in one of the oldest inns in America so the vibe in the atmosphere are very cute and welcoming. The restaurant itself has an indoor and outdoor area and I will just say the outdoor area is adorable. If you can get seated there do it - they have live music and a really cute patio area. The food itself is great. It's new American style and done really well. I highly recommend the whipped ricotta, any of the pizzas, and the risotto was great too. And service was also fantastic. This is such a great, reliable spot. I will definitely be returning. And it feels like a hidden gem. read more

First of all it is very pricey, the food and hotel rooms, expect to spend 100+ dollars a person for everything in total. And the room prices are pricey (look them up) just and fyi. The food is good and the menu is ok, the ambience and atmosphere is absolutely fantastic. Quick history fun fact, during the revolutionary war George Washington stayed here. Anyways it is a nice chill dinner. The service is good and they are on the acceptable side of friendliness, really depends on the worker, some on super funny and awesome to be around while others have not much emotion and are formal which I guess you would expect from a place this nice. Canoe Place successfully mixes high class service, facilities, and amenities with its world class staff, without losing the charm of a boutique. I've never felt more welcome at any hotel I've ever stayed. The staff was simply superb at every level. Mario, the General Manager, and Molly at the Front Desk were especially warm and accommodating. Our room was beautifully designed and spacious. You could tell there was a ton of thought and detail put into the little things. The bathroom was both immaculate and elegant. The room felt particularly cozy as it poured rain most of our stay. Favorite part was the breakfast -- an assortment of pastries, yogurts, meats, cheeses and fruits with great gourmet coffee and juices. My 2nd favorite was the complimentary car service as we didn't have a car and were just in town for 1 night. You're only 5 minutes to Hampton Bay train station and 10 minutes to Southampton, making it super easy to get around. We came for a birthday and the atmosphere and hosts were extremely welcoming/inviting. The live music was also a plus and help set the mood for a great brunch. For the table we ordered Bloody Mary's & Peach Bellinis for the table which were 10/10 (credit to the bartender Nick). However we had an extremely long wait for the food 30+ minutes & our server forgot the birthday girl's meal which we waited an additional 20 minutes to get. The restaurant was half empty so I don't believe the kitchen should be to blame for this, the serve himself made a mistake and was rude when we confronted him on this. Overall this is a very nice place with tremendous potential, but the wait time, and service were below expectations. This is a restaurant review Didn't stay in hotel. The servers are absolutely lovely. The food is tasty. We were only permitted to be seated at tables in the bar area so I don't know what the rest of the restaurant looks like. The food is incredibly expensive even for the Hamptons. We received 2 very tasty skinny and tall pretzel sticks they described as bread sticks. Also, you have a choice of tap or sparkling water which is a nice touch. We ordered the clam pizza to share and a pricey salad to share as well. A glass of wine is $23+ All in all a tasty meal. A steak will cost $95. First of all, I love all the renovations done. I frequented CPI's when it was a club in the 90's and then sadly watched it deteriorate over the years. I was thrilled to take my Dad for dinner there after it reopened in 2022. The hotel interior is so pretty and the grounds are amazing. We started with a drink at the inside bar and the bartender could not have been nicer or friendlier. I recall the dinner being very yummy. I wish I could give 5 stars. This is why I cannot. My husband and I took friends there this past weekend. I recall the delicious and refreshing lavender spritzer that I enjoyed that first time I was there and wanted another. I even spoke to the bartender during our first visit about the ingredients. Named about 5 different things that created the drink. This time we went to the outside bar which was open. It was not the first visit. We asked if he could make the lavender spritzer and he said yes. (It wasn't on the menu.) He proceeds to pop open a can of "something" lavender, pours it into a large wine glass and charges us $22 for it. Needless to say I was more than a little disappointed. I will obviously not be ordering that drink at CPI's again and would suggest you do not either. I really wanted to give 5 stars. read more

The interior dinning room is spectacular too...we had the special of the day, filet mignon with grilled asparagus, the best you can get - with perfectly perfumed Béarnaise. My date ordered scallops, they were fresh, tangy and delicious. The salads with black cherries are a must. Dessert was light as air panacotta. Waiter was gracious, worked hard as he was the only one on the terrace when we arrived at 7:45. I had a Sapphire Martini to start and that was the only slight imperfection, it was a bit watery and not very generous. we met the maitre D' and he was most welcoming and charming. read more

Canoe Place Inn is special. We've just come back from spending 10 days at this lovely hotel for the second year. The hotel happened to be honoring its one-year anniversary at the same time as our visit to our daughter Amy and son-in-law Pete who live around the corner in Hampton Bays. Because of the special occasion, we were fortunate to be able to take advantage of a celebratory reduced rate. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a lovely, personalized note as well as our favorite treats provided by the gracious management. We were assigned one of the largest corner rooms with an expansive balcony, which was a bonus that we took the utmost advantage of thanks to having beautifully sunny October weather. The massive king bed was incredibly comfortable and so large I could barely find my husband in it! The bathroom was huge, with a separate vintage bathtub next to a fireplace, a spacious shower with a bench, and his and hers sinks. Amenities include a stunning heated pool, which I had all to myself every morning for my daily swim. The complimentary European-inspired breakfast is delightfully delicious and includes house-made croissants and muffins, fresh fruit, granola, meats and cheeses, hard-boiled eggs, and the most decadent French yogurt. Since it's off-season, the restaurant and bar are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but the staff was still willing to accommodate my desire for an afternoon martini. Good Ground Tavern is open Wednesday to Sunday for dinner, including Happy Hour from 5-7 PM, and they now offer brunch on the weekend. Everything we ate was delicious, including the best gnocchi my husband has ever had. The Place, as they lovingly call it, is also adorned with artwork from the private collection of the owners Greg and Mitchell Rechler, and includes a bevy of stunning contemporary works by the likes of Doug Aitken, Yoan Capote, Tony Tasset, Jeffrey Gibson, and several whimsical embroidered pieces by Elsa Hansen Oldham. But what truly makes Canoe Place special are the people who work there. Thank you to the General Manager, the magnificent Mario, front desk Manager Molly, Jill and Mateja, and our server Kelly, bartender Steven, and restaurant managers Ibenz and Jake, all of whom took exceptional care of us during our stay. Went to the Canoe Place Inn for lunch. The entire place is beautiful. The staff is wonderful. They go above and beyond. We had a few issues with our meal (crab cakes could have been hotter and they brought us a fresh plate and did not charge us). The grilled shrimp is also delicious. The Niçoise salad was perfect. The pizzas are also delicious. If you are ever in Hampton Bays and have the time, stop by and visit the Canoe Place Inn. Even if only for a drink. Like almost every place in the Hamptons, it is not inexpensive but you wont be disappointed. I am giving it 4 stars only because it is new and they are still working out the kinks. read more

OMG to the Hundredth Degree!!!  That's the sensation we felt during our most recent stay at Canoe Place Inn and Cottages! If a picture paints a thousand words then an actual in person experience at CPI&C would fill an entire library! We've enjoyed just about every room accommodation at Canoe Place but most recently were treated(literally not figuratively)to the most fabulous room at the Inn ...room Two Hundred Seven! Located on the second floor corner of the Inn, this magnificent room has everything a guest would want...canopy bed, small balcony overlooking the lawn, a gigantic thirty foot terrace, claw foot tub, wonderfully tiled shower, double vanities, gas fireplace and a mirrored mini bar nook complete with a Nespresso machine and coffee plus a mini fridge to boot...it's your own corner of the world!  All the amenities are great but they can all be summed up in one word...SERENITY. Of course the entire management and staff - Mario, Molly, Jill, Jack, Stephanie, Mirian, Gabby, the list is endless, take you to a place of utter relaxation and calm...you'll never want to leave. We always thank them but thanks alone seem to pale in comparison to the incredible joy they make us feel! One final observation and it's an important one...the entire design throughout Canoe Place whether it's the architecture, the natural light, the color palette, the artwork, the decor, the meticulous landscaping, the numerous outdoor venues (dining, bar, immaculate pool area, fire pit surroundings, walking trail, nearby marina, ballrooms) what more could families or couples like us ask for! This all adds to the one of a kind calming and decompression mind set you want in a getaway. We realize by writing these reviews we diminish our chances of availability in the future BUT Canoe Place truly deserves it and most importantly future visitors  to CPI&C need to realize just how pampered they will feel...the way we have felt pampered during each and every one of our visits! read more

Who knew The Canoe Place Inn is the oldest Inn in the United States ? Right here in Hampton Bays this meticulously renovated Inn and Resort is a Gem in the Hamptons. I had the pleasure to dine there with my family and the menu however simple was done right by Chef Ulfet Ralph. We had decided to sample a range of selections from the menu from appetizers to main course. Theses included crab cakes with lemon aioli, grilled shrimp skewers with herbed pesto which were delicious, balanced and even memorable. The main courses although also done to perfection and should be included on the menu are in total just too pedestrian for an upscale Hamptons menu, ie. burger and pizza . I can say that my daughter mentioned that the organic roasted chicken with herbs was the best chicken she ever had. I have to admit that whole pan -seared bass with herbs and lemon was the best fish dish I ever had. In total I would go back but would like to see more imaginative menu. read more
