I found Yen many years ago when she was a tech at the mall salon. I stayed with her no matter where…read moreI lived & how far I had to travel. If she went, I went too! I was so happy for her when she opened her own place. My nails are always on point. She's meticulously clean, in 20 years I've never worried about getting a fungus or anything! As a matter of fact when I was looking for a new salon I had gone to her maybe a couple of times & I tried a place someone else had recommended. Less than 2 weeks I noticed some green! I went to Yen & she fixed it for me. All gone. I've never gone anywhere else! Well except when she was on maternity leave. but as soon as she was back! so was I! Her artistry is "chef's kiss". She's very talented. I just can't say enough about her!

I am shocked by the negative reviews. While I only get standard manicures (regular polish, gel, dip…read morepowder) and pedicures, I am very picky about my nails and this is the only place where I leave completely satisfied. I don't get designs or special services, but my nails come out exactly the way I want them to and the service lasts for weeks. They have tons of colors, are extremely friendly, and do a fantastic job every time. There are plenty of techs and people to translate if there's a language barrier and you have a specific request, but if you come often enough and get the same tech, they have great memory and often remember your preferences. Making an appointment is definitely recommended, especially in the summer. I've also gotten waxing here and have also been happy with this. I've gotten my eyebrows, upper lip, and underarms done and the waxing is always done with care. Not all techs are trained to do this though, so if you don't make an appointment in advance, you might have to wait a little bit for a tech to become available. The salon itself is very clean; I've seen them thoroughly sweep their floors at night and disinfect their tools and footbaths in between customers. I've been coming here for almost 10 years and I live on the north shore now, so it's not as easy to get to, but I've yet to find another nail salon that's comparable to this one. Many get close and I'm happy enough with the service but never as satisfied as when I come to this specific salon.

WARNING - THEY USED A VERY STRONG BRUSH-ON CHEMICAL REMOVER to quickly remove old gel polish (not…read moreacetone & cotton wrapped in foil). Nail tech was rushing from the start and after using the drill to remove most of the top layer of old gel polish, she brushed on this chemical from a small nail polish type bottle (two coats) and said not to move my hands for 5 minutes. A few mins later the remaining polish just easily scraped off. Then my nails started to sting with a burning sensation. She saw me blowing on my nails (while she did my pedicure) so wiped my nails with a wet rag. Meanwhile I'm researching on my phone what the heck this stuff could be that removes gel polish so fast - maybe this is something new? Turns out it's a PAINT SOLVENT chemical that is likely BANNED in the US. I refused the manicure after that (pedicure was fine) so my burning nails can rest. DO NOT LET THEM USE THIS PAINT SOLVENT STUFF TO QUICKLY REMOVE YOUR OLD GEL POLISH!! IT HURTS! I spoke with the mgr and she apologized and said they'd wrap them next time. And no, I do not have overly sensitive skin or nails. I have never EVER seen this procedure used in decades of having gel polish applied. AVOID THIS PLACE!

They do a heel wax, a cooling mask on your legs, and massage with scented oils and lotions. Lavender is great, and lemon too. There are at least 5 different scents. Treat yo self. I just got a normal polish because I'm basic but the woman (I wish I'd gotten her name!) was thorough and quick and gave me a great shape. We had pleasant conversation with her too. She's thoughtful and kind (asked if I wanted to pay ahead of time so that I wouldn't mess us my nails later). I was pleased with this place and I'll definitely go again if I'm in the mood to get pampered. Thank you!!

Back story: Lida and Navy have been running the nail shop here for years. I started going to them…read moreback in 2017, I have no idea why I never made a review for them before but better late than never! I've seen these hard working girls go through the effects of the pandemic while raising two beautiful children and running a nail shop at the same time. Up until 2017, I "nail-shop-hopped" around the south shore area - never finding a place i liked enough to come back to. Then I found sydney nails. I will never go to another nail shop until they shut down (which i hope never happens because i will be devastated.) Honestly, the service and quality here is unbeatable. The girls are genuine, friendly, and love their jobs (and take pride in it.) The shop is clean and promotes a relaxing environment. I see these reviews on the internet about their store not providing good service. I don't understand why some people are so nasty. If you go and get your nails done here and don't like it, don't leave the store. They can't control what happens when you leave the store. But if you don't like your nails or need it fixed before walking out, tell them. They 100% of the time will make it right if it is an instant fix. If you walk out of the store angry or upset and don't like what you were given, that's on you. Also, you chose the color - not them. Lida and Navy try their best to make it right so please be kind. Tips: 1) always call ahead so the girls can pencil you into their schedule. Walk ins are available but there is usually some kind of wait. 2) show up to your appointment 10-15 min early to pick your colors 3) they take cash and card but the card machine has a transaction fee on your card. They also take venmo.
