Let me start out by saying that my wife moved from Venezuela a few years ago. This were she goes to get a taste of home and if she doesnt want to make something herself and want me to try the food from her country. They do a great job have been there multiple time everytime it was good. My wife assures me that it is for the most part authentic. I look forward to eating here now. They have a great little spot in Harker Heights right next to an upscale neighborhood so you know that you dont have to got into a weird area like some many places in the Killeen area. They have a drive through window for pick-ups that I just discovered so that is awesome. Again Great environment and Great food. I highly recommend for anyone that wants a taste of actaul Venezuelan dishes. read more

Food tastes really good. Service was great with a friendly staff. Enjoyed the location and restaurant ambiance.

First time at this restaurant. I had a "Parrillita" bowl with fried yuca and my wife had the vegan bowl. Both dishes were very tasty and very filling. Service was great and the eating area has large windows with good outside lighting. It has good parking access and spaces. Next time we're in Killeen we'll try another dish, the menu shows other appetizing dishes. read more

Good is great and so is the service!! Loved it! The best hidden gem. Check them out if you can.

Cost: $10 - $20 Food Quality: Excellent Decor: Industrial Venezuelan, Service: Excellent Cuisine Type: Venezuelan/International Generally, Venezuelan menus do not go outside of their comfort zone of stuffed arepas to other forms of street and casual food but Arepitas does! An overlooked category that Venezuelans are very fond of stem from the Street menu such as deep-fried empanadas with corn casings, plantain sandwiches called patacones, elaborately dressed hot dogs and hamburgers, and cachapas -- giant flapjacks made from fresh corn stuffed and folded over like crepes. So, I have learned to appreciate more traditional types of Venezuelan cooking because of Arepitas and even had a taste of what might be viewed as Venezuelan haute cuisine. read more

To be honest, we've tried many different cultural foods but this just wasn't for us. However, I still feel the need to give a good rating because others seemed to really like the food, great cleanliness, & the customer service was truly amazing. Definitely give it a try at least once to see if the foods for you. read more

The food here was really good. The ambience was very nice and the owner was very accommodating. I really enjoyed the dining experience.

I was really excited about finding a restaurant that sold Venezuelan food. Arepas have been hyped up for me for awhile now and I really wanted to try one. Let me tell you. These are worth the hype. We ordered two types of empanadas (one with shredded beef and one called the "Pabellón", an arepa called the "Llanera", and a sandwich called the "Pepito". First of all, it was way too much food. You could probably eat two empanadas, or one arepa, or the sandwich as a meal. NOT ALL TOGETHER. Everything was sooo good though. The empanadas are fried. Not pastry style like many South American empanadas. The Pabellón had beans, cheese, and beef on the inside. They are amazing. Ask for the garlic sauce to go with it. LEGIT. The arepa had fresh avocado, sirloin steak, cheese, and that same garlic sauce. It was huge. I felt like I had to unhook my jaw to eat it. It was almost like a gordita if you are familiar with Mexican cuisine. It was waaaay more stuffed however. I did not try the sandwich but I was told that it was good. It had cheese, onions, potato sticks, chicken, steak, garlic sauce, and some cabbage. It was huge. Please pace yourself. I'm looking forward to trying the tostones and the larger plate for $13.99 (it looks big enough for two) next time. I saw other people get the tostones and they look amazing. read more

The food is great!!! Tostones are always a hit and the empanadas are amazing!!! Pretty much everything there is great!!!

At the recommendation of a colleague, decided to try. The restaurant was only available for take out due to COVID19. Placed order for The Texan over the phone. Received text within 20 minutes that order was ready for pick up. The sandwich was delicious. The beef had so much flavor. The only downside was it was messy to eat. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. read more

Too pricy for their food , they charge for the salsa and I believe it should at least come with some . Servers are rude .

Always love eating here! This is at least twice a month for my wife and I. We've just about tried everything on the menu and haven't been disappointed yet! Definitely worth it! read more

Order: Ground beef empanada, Llanera arepas + sweet plantains 100%: I would return to dine here. I would order what I had again. The good: food is fresh, made to order. People are kind and hospitable. Place is clean and pleasant to eat in at. The bad: none. read more

Don't come here....way overrated! Terrible Service, Cold Bland Food and No Parking either! Ok, now the truth. This is without a doubt the best South American food I have ever eaten and absolutely one of the best restaurants of any cuisine/category between Austin and Dallas. I am 100% confident that the owner/chef Antonio does not use any premade - frozen products. Not only extremely Fresh and Creative, but packed with Flavor as well. Can you say Garlic Breath? Yum!! The Presentation (we do eat with our eyes after all) is ample and amazing as well. The pics posted here are truly representative of the amazing and considerably large plate that you will find served to you. The homemade creamy hot sauce is off the hook - and provides plenty of heat. No Chalula, Sriracha or Tabasco found here. Service? Of the hook. Antonio and his crew provide genuine hospitality and pride as soon as you walk in the door. Very Clean and Upscale Comfortable (without being pretentious) with Venezuelan music playing in the background. Parking? OK, that might be an issue as soon as this place really takes off...esp as Lily's Cupcakes (Cake Wars Winner!) is right next door. In short, Amazing Service and Incredible Food. Ample Parking too...for now. read more

I love it. Anyone who reads this, and isn't sure- Try it!! You won't regret it!!! Came during a lunch break on a Wednesday, still pretty busy. That's how you KNOW the food is good. FOOD: Crazy good. It took me like 15 minutes to decide what I wanted because everything looked so good.. I ended up going with the pabellón arepa. It is LARGE, juicy, and messy to eat but well worth it. If you're not that hungry I wouldn't suggest ordering anything else, beacuae you frankly will. Not. Finish. It. But the arepa was stuffed full of juicy, hearty, flavorful shredded beef, black beans, sweet perfectly cooked plantains, and cheese. Perfect blend of savory and sweet. The proper way to eat it is to pick it up in both hands and take a big bite! Definitely worth getting. ATMOSPHERE: Small, cozy a little modern. One of the workers mentioned they will be moving to a bigger space soon and plan on adding more to their menu! SERVICE: Great service, super friendly and knowledgeable about Venezuelan cuisine. They also offer help if you look like you're struggling to figure out exactly how to tackle these large areas. I will definitely be back with friends to try the beef empanada specifically and really anything else I can get my hands on. If I lived in the area I would definitely be a regular. read more

Arepitas - Pabellon bowl - Venezuelan Near Me - Harker Heights, Texas

Parrillita Bowl is awesome, I just wish they would give you more then 1 little sauce container.

Arepitas is a great hidden gem in Harker Heights. The Venezuelan dishes are amazing and the food is extremely fresh/well-seasoned. The wait staff can get a little jumbled at times, but they're very friendly and will go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. The menu features options for kids and adults, and while the dishes can get a little pricy ($15+) the amount of food you receive is comparable. The only downside is they have recently had some minor issues with seating due to short-staffing, but obviously that is a touch out of their control. Overall, Arepitas is a great restaurant that is perfect for the whole family. read more

Owner too big for his britches , no large parties nor split up basically said he don't want our business

My first time trying this place. I saw it while searching for local restaurants and it looked really good. Well I can pleasantly say I was not disappointed. I tried several different things and they were all good. Well seasoned and delicious. And the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Definitely a must try if you are in the area. read more

Y'all, the food is jam packed with flavors and the service is warm and hospitable. Our table of 5 shared the Crazy Fries as an appetizer, and we agreed that it was the best part of our meal. That doesn't mean our arepas and bowls weren't good; they were! But I will be back for those fries the next time we are driving south on I-35 from the metroplex. read more

We started going here when it was in a gas station and it's no surprise they keep needing to expand. Everything on the menu has amazing flavor! Can't wait to move back to the area to enjoy this amazing restaurant! read more

Yayyyy, i finally made it here today!!! I was greeted with a friendly smile as soon as i walked in and so glad it wasn't that busy. But there was a big family at one of the table waiting for their food, so it might take awhile for my order.... I had to try a few things while i'm here, and i am ordering to go anyways so let me start... I ordered ground beef empanada, tostones, and poblleno. The lady who took my order was nice enough to come to me and let me know that it will take 25 minutes for my order to be ready since there 2 orders in front of me. So, that was cool... I couldn't wait to get home and try my food. The beef empanada is good. The beef has good flavors and the breading is soft and fluffy. The tostones was delicious! Love the crunch of the plantains with the salad on top, great combination. I added some of the spicy sauce they have for the poblleno and it gave my tostones a little spiciness to it which was good! The poblleno was also good, you can taste a little sweetness of the plantains in each bite. Never had Venezuelan good before and i am so glad i tried Arepitas today's. Thanks to all the fellow yelpers for sharing their experiences!!!! I love their new location since it's closer for me. And i would probably be lost looking for the old one, lol . I highly recommend this place. Food is great with fresh ingredients and staff are friendly. read more

Arepitas - Venezuelan Near Me - Harker Heights, Texas

Went there yesterday, thinking they were a new place, but I see it just changed locations. We ordered three items: Cheese sticks: tasted very good and I liked the bread it was wrapped in. Nice dipping sauce, tasted a bit like a mix of mayo and ketchup. Four stars. My meal was the platter and it was great. Loved the presentation of the hot chicken and beef, the potatoes were great and the cheese and avocado on top were awesome. Loved the peppers and onions. I would recommend this all day long. Five stars. The Blonde sandwich was a disappointment overall. The chicken and sauce tasted good, and the corn bread was also nice, but on top was just a big pile of pre-shredded cheese that wasn't melted. It looked like the stuff you get in a package at the store. Nothing wrong with the taste but for eight bucks, it was a disappointment. Three stars. So overall four stars. Friendly service, and since I had not been there before, the staff was very nice in explaining the menu and helping in ordering. I'd go back again, but I wouldn't call this a new go-to place for me. read more

Arepitas is highly rated for a reason! The food is amazing and staff is wonderful. We found this place based on high Yelp reviews and we really didn't know what to expect when we walked in - neither of us had eaten Venezuelan food before. Two of the very kind staff walked us through the menu, explaining what each dish included. We ordered the Parrillita bowl and the larger Parrillita plate, both were incredible. We've been back several times since, Arepitas is in our regular dining out rotation! PRO TIP: Arepitas is BYOB and there is a liquor store a few doors down! Last time we came in, we brought a bottle of wine. As soon as they saw it on our table, they brought us a corkscrew and wine glasses! read more

Very authentic very good. Good service. Nice change from the typical Tex mex that's in this area.

Atmosphere is nothing special. Food is delicious, service is good but takes FOREVER since they cook everything fresh as ordered.

Service is much slower than the last time I was here, and had some complications getting our food to the table, but the food was great. Tostones are a great appetizer for first-timers. Cocktails could be a little stronger in our opinion. read more

This place was recommended to me and I e been trying to get there for months. And last week a couple of friends and I were able to go for dinner. The food was delicious! We started out with their cachapas which is sweet corn pancake stuffed with our meat and the sweet plus savory combination was heavenly!!! Okay so I will admit that I don't know what heavenly is but in my imagination this was it!!! I can't believe we shared it - I could eat plenty of them!!! Then I got the LLanera Arepitas, it came in a homemade bread stuffed with beef that was marinated in these spices that were new to me but absolutely delicious mix, fresh grated cheese and avocado!!! When it was brought to the table my thought was, "how in the world am I going to bite into that??" However even if you take small bites you aren't missing any of the flavor.... the avocado, cheese, meat mixture topped with that homemade tortilla taste was yummy, yummy and more yummy! The place is small but it had a bit of a cafe in the middle of a rugged city feel to it. The staff was wonderful and the lady who helped us when we came in was as vibrant, helpful and endearing as my aunt! Definitely must go!!! $10 average (including drink) Food: 4 out of 5 (first time) Service: 5 out of 5 Atmosphere: 4 out of 5 (small) Venezuelan read more
