Arctic Air breaks down the installation process into distinct stages, handled by different subcontractors. Although this approach is fairly standard, it can lead to some communication issues. For example, we experienced a minor installation mishap, but their team addressed and resolved it on the same day, which I appreciated for their prompt response. Customer service was generally good; however, there were a few miscommunications regarding payment and scheduling. The crews were professional and courteous, maintaining cleanliness at the job site, which left a good impression. While there were some initial communication gaps regarding the project scope, the teams did make an effort to keep us informed throughout the process. I am satisfied with the work quality and the cleanup post-installation. The new system has been functioning well for a month now, and this summer we'll see how the air conditioner works. I'm not sure why the avg stars are 3.5. We had such an exceptional experience. We got a helper unit put in and additional ducts put in. The person came out to discuss the job and then came back with someone to quote the job. They didn't try to upsell us. They did a really neat job and always wore booties and were super respectful. We had them come back after we had some water issues to replace a duct and still great service and experience. I am a customer for over thirty (30) years across two homes. Arctic Air installed the air-conditioning unit (A/C) in our current home, and last week they installed a new boiler for our baseboard heating system (at a cost in excess of $11,000). During a routine service call three days later, under a maintenance contract we hold with them, they turned on our air-conditioning unit for the season and black flakes were blown out from many of the vents. This led my husband and me to call a duct and vent cleaning service. It was determined that it was likely deteriorating insulation from within the ductwork, that is likely 30-40 years old. With baseboard heating, this ductwork is only in use with the A/C. Further inspection found black mold encrusted behind the fins of the vent covers. We cannot run the A/C with these toxic pollutants in place. We decided we must replace the ductwork. When I called Arctic Air back in order to engage their services for this work, they refused to do the job. I was told it is past their company deadline for doing such work and they will not subject their employees to the excessive temperatures in the attic. I was told I could book an appointment for this, in October. Even after I pleaded with the phone receptionist to asked the boss, explained what good, long-term customers we are, and that the weather has been remarkably cool thus far, making the temperature in the attic of no concern, their sales manager instructed her to tell us NO. I cannot believe they would treat my family in this manner. So much for building a business relationship. We were left to choose between no A/C or circulating knowingly polluted air for the summer. Other than warranty service, I will never use or recommend Arctic Air again. read more

I went with Artic Air as several members of my community had used them and I have seen the vans with the name on it. They came out and for $125 did a diagnostic to locate an issue which ended up being a straightforward part that needed to be replaced. I scheduled this to be done the following week, following all of the prompts to "accept the estimate" for the work to be done that were sent via email. I took off of work to be home during the 8 am to 12 pm window they gave me. On the schedule day of the repair, I received a confirmation text around 7:50 AM that the technicians were on their way. About an hour later, I received a call from the Artic Air staff that I would need to "reschedule" as the part was in "low stock." I understand the supply chain issues but surely they should have known they didn't have the part the day prior and not after the technician already confirmed he was coming. As it turns out, they had never actually ordered the part for my repair. The lackadaisical attitude that a customer has to just "reschedule" because the company dropped the ball is one thing that I find to be unacceptable. I escalated the matter and they did end up going "up north" to get the part and doing the job later in the day. It's all about accountability, don't have a person take a day off of work then you show up completely unprepared and expect it just to fall back on the customer to deal with the aftermath. While they did correct it, they should have done that from the start. The customer service was a 1 star but the reason for the overall 3 stars is that the techs were excellent. The techs are 5 stars all around. James C was the technician that came out on diagnostic day and on repair day. He did a great job of locating the problem and getting the work done in a timely fashion. He had another technician with him on repair day whose name I don't have but together they were wonderful. In any event, the technicians helpful nature definitely made up for the lack of initial accountability of the business as a whole. read more

This was by far the ABSOLUTE WORST contractor experience I've ever had. Poor work, employees arguing with each other, employees with little job experience (a supervisor had to come out after 3 visits by the junior worker to fix his shoddy work). POOR customer service on the phone (I must have called over 2 dozen times and got the run around from them). Workers left metal shavings in my basement. They were never on time. The job took weeks to finish (it was about 50 linear feet of plumbing). I can keep going. People, do NOT use this company. read more

All of a sudden we had no hot water today. We called Arctic and they were at our house in less than 30 minutes. Amazing service, especially on a weekend. Turned out the tropical storm we had yesterday made the pilot light go out. Thank you very much Arctic for your very attentive service. We are lucky it wasn't more than a pilot light! I had Artic Air come to my house to repair the furnace and air conditioning. I let them know ever since they put some device on my AC unit. AC does not come down into my first floor as well anymore. I will never recommend them ever. I gave them every opportunity to take care of the issue. I took days off. I lost time of work for many many times now at least four times they were to my house and they still didn't take care of the problem so again I will never recommend this company ever, the air conditioner is not working the way it's worse now than ever read more

Arctic Air Conditioning installed a brand new HVAC system and boiler in 2019. Their work was excellent. I can't say more great things about how they arrived as a team and worked together to undertake this massive job. It truly was an incredible accomplishment. The unit worked until 2021 when an error code appeared telling me to call Arctic Air. I called right away on a Sunday. The person took down all of my details and promised me a call back from the dispatcher for an emergency repair as they offer emergency repairs until 4pm. 2 Hours later there was still no call, so I called. I was told that the answering service had not sent along my info and now they had no more appointments left to help me. The best they could do was come around sometime between 8am and 12 noon the next day. The reason I called in for an emergency repair is that it is sweltering in the house with no AC, and the upcoming days were going to be hot. This call was handled very badly by Arctic Air (and their answering service) because they dropped the ball entirely on this. They installed the unit, but they couldn't provide a great follow-up when I needed them the most, on a hot day when the AC stopped working. Other than the dropped follow-up, the next day a very professional technician came out and made the repair (a failed condensation sensor). The bad follow-up is not enough to knock a star off a 5 star review, but it is something I hope they address. read more

This is my second review on them this month, yes i had to call the company twice for the same problem, every-time its a $450 bill. First of all I did not see anyone of the technicians who came ran a diagnostics test on the system. First time they said the problem was with the condensation water collection pump and replaced it and charged $450. Next day the same problem with the system, so I called them back again. Second time they found the issue was with the thermostat and replaced the same. As i am replacing the thermostat i asked for a newer model, which they did not have or no proper justification for going with old one. So finally i ended up paying $900 for a $450 job, even with that i got a 6 year old model thermostat. read more

I spoke to a representative from Artic Air, who was very cordial and knowledgeable in answering my questions, however, I ended up not working with Arctic Air Conditioning for my plumbing needs. While their pricing was more than reasonable (they had a great special going on), I was told they only do emergencies on Saturdays, which entailed a fee and I was not willing to incur an astronomical fee (I don't remember the price, but I thought it was too much), so it was a hard "NO" for me. As a homeowner who works Monday - Friday, and works more than an hour away from home, I think it's crazy that they only do emergency services on Saturday's; don't they understand that people work during the week and the weekends are the only time that some of us have to handle household matters like this? I recently had the a tech from the plumbing department at my house to service my water heater the tech gave me an outrageous price to replace it for me over 3000.00 for a 800.00 water heater. Their prices are not even competitive to other companies out there doing this kind of service work! The tech also revealed to me that I was being recorded through a app on his iPad called rilla that doesn't require my consent to record me in my own house I felt that this was invasion of my privacy this seems very shady to me he also told me that they are not family owned anymore that the business had been sold to turn point a corporation and this is why the prices are as such. Ive been reading the reviews and it seems that the company is going to pot. I would certainly look elsewhere to have any work performed before I would have them enter my home especially that I'm being recorded with no knowledge of them doing so but the cat is out of the bag now. Arctic air is nothing but a ripped off and overcharged. We bought a new furnace less than nine years ago. It broke down, causing carbon monoxide poison to circulate around the house. I went to the hospital. We called them again, we were charged $1400 to repair it. After the guy left the furnace broke down again.This time, several people were sent to the house and they came to the conclusion that we need a new furnace and our warranty only covered the replacement but we have to $7500 for labor. By this time, we did not have heat, hot water or gas to cook from our stove. It was a week and half and the house was getting extremely cold. They had no conscience! If we have warranty, why did we have to $7500 for labor? They are thieves. Did I tell you with the nine year period, arctic air was making quarterly visits to check the furnace. We would pay the $240 per visit. Why did this quarterly maintenance do not pick the problem before we had to lose almost $10K. They are not a good company to work with. read more

In the end I talked to one named Herp who was not helpful at all, he was very adamant about making money on replacing my control board, despite the fact that I had just spent 7.5K on a new HVAC with them less than a year ago. He refused to offer a discount or better pricing even though replacing a new HVAC did nothing to solve my original problem. $7500 down the drain and I do not want to give them anymore money. Arctic Air changed out x 2 21 year old furnaces and 2 condensers. The company sales person ( Phil Grego ) gave us a price that beat all competitors without having to negotiate to get a price my wife and I were comfortable with. A++ in my book We were given an estimate on 9/1 Thursday and had the installation scheduled for 9/5 that following Monday. Phil noted that the work would be completed in one day with two teams working to complete the job. Sure enough Monday morning @ 8AM Two trucks with 6 guys showed up with Two Brand new Lennox Furnace/AC units. The team went right to work. The job was done with excellent execution with custom sheet metal work for the duct work, which they did on the truck. That means the team did not use any tape for any of the seams. Been in this house for over 10 Years and had work done with countless contractors, hands down best company I ever delt with. A++ from start to finish. Just fabulous. I would recommend them highly. Btw, they applied for the permits, registered my warranties and applied for my rebates. Now who does all this. Artic Air!! read more

Worst company ever. Came out 2 times to install central air. Was suppose to install in April 2020. Did not install until Dec 2020. They came out inspected everything and set up date for install. Then the same day after paperwork signed he stated he wanted to see electric panel. Then he stated I needed to upgrade panel. Which they did. Air was installed end of December. Turned on 1st time in April and not holding temperature water dripping all over in basement from ducts. They came out 1st they stated ductwork too small then too much moisture in basement. They stated I should of gotten ducts wrapped or replaced . Why didn't you tell me that before installation. Called Home Depot Corporate she stated she would have District Manager Rich call me. Well he came out to my house seen issues and try calling Artic Air and said he couldn't get anywhere with them. Then Rich called back said it would be $8800.00 to fix problem. I would give them a zero star if I could. My husband and I just moved to NJ and we have a "home care" membership with PSEG for heating and cooling, but Arctic Air cold called us for maintenance on the house. The price sounded decent, it was $125 for an inspection of our heating system and a clean up. The guy comes, spends five minutes in my boiler room, then measures the temp through one of my vents, says the system works well and it's all clean. I trust him because what do I know about heat. We've lived in this house for 2 years. Haven't had any issues with the heat or ac. Right after this guy leia ex, suddenly, my heat goes out. I have to manually keep flipping the switch to turn the heat back on. Now, granted, the temperatures were dropping later that week, but it wasn't our first cold week in this house, and the heat would literally shut off at 72. At the end of the week, I got home and saw that it went down to 68 degrees in my house, the system shut off and did not kick back on. I called them, the guy didn't come even a week ago, and told them the issue. They sent another mechanic over. They assured me that as long as it wasn't an environmental issue, I wouldn't have to pay because it was literally Four days ago. This guy comes, says that the machine is beyond filthy and hasn't had maintenance in a while, and when I tell him that his coworker was at my house not even a week ago to clean it, he backtracks and says the system is shutting off due to the temperatures outside. Not only did these scammers charge us another $125, claiming it was elemental conditions causing the issue, he tried to tell us that the entire heating system in our house is too old and we need to completely replace it. And he left. A month later, with the system continuing to shut off, and now the temperature was not as low at all, I called PSEG. They came, they cleaned, they said the entire system was fine, and fixed everything. The machine was not properly cleaned and therefor the mechanisms could not properly function. My house is so warm, I have to practically walk around in a bikini. Arctic scammed me and wasted my time with TWO technicians. Won't bother with them ever again. read more

This is our first time using Arctic Air, and I'm so glad we did! We (my mother and I) had a difficult time trying to explain the exact issues we were having with our air conditioning unit but our technician Hector was patient and asked follow up questions to get a better determination of the root problem. Hector was knowledgeable and super thorough! Hector even crawled through the smallest/tightest space just to ensure that there weren't any additional issues. This company is deceitful to customers, they quoted me for a AC\furnace unit replacement for our home. While we were still deciding and getting other estimates, the salesman sends me a text stating that prices might go up if we don't sign right away. This tactic is what car salesman do when they want you sign the contract. Two weeks later when we were ready to sign for the job to be done they increased the price on us. They stated that it was due to tariffs imposed by the government. What a bunch baloney, i just believe they are trying to make extra money because we didn't sign right away. Watch out for this and want to let people be aware how they operate. They have good reviews that's why we looked into them but be careful of the lies they might tell. read more

In the meantime, I was able to get 3 other HVAC companies to give me a REAL free estimate so I can compare and decide which to go with. Don't let these people lure you in with their phony advertisements. Be an educated consumer and shop around. Update on 4/12 (Reply to Business Owner): "Mr. Albert, thanks for your quick reply and attempt to clarify your policy. Here are the two issues I have: 1) I have an AC unit that definitely needs replacement, I explained to your receptionist that I simply need someone to come down and give me an estimate so I can make an informed decision on who to go with for the job. She told me that there will be a $109 charge for the tech for his visit and diagnostics. I told her I don't need it diagnosed since I already know what's wrong with it. She said your company doesn't rely on another company's diagnostics and needs to perform it's own. That's why there is the $109 charge for this "free" estimate. The other 3 companies I dealt with did not have a problem coming down (for free) to check out the system and give me an actual free estimate for its replacement. 2) Your website seems to promote the so-called "Free Estimate" on all of its pages. It actually states - "Want a Free Estimate? Call Now!". So that's exactly what I did - but was told yes, the estimate is free, but then charge me $109 and call it a service fee. So it sounds like a free estimate with strings attached. This is misleading and disingenuous. Why doesn't your website make it clear under which specific conditions this estimate is free?
