But if you haven't experienced those outdoor adventures, Kenco is way more than that. When we've vacationed in the Catskills throughout the seasons and have accidentally forgotten to pack either my shorts, winter gloves, rain boots or anything else, Kenco, slightly off Rt 28 in Kingston, has been the place to come to for those. Kenco is a privately-owned and independent company staying true to their number one priority-provide customers with the highest quality products- that can handle any weather condition up here in the Catskills. The store is massive with women's clothing on one side, men's on another- then their other departments follow. And yes, prices are steep- but these folks carefully select their products and only want to sell reliable gear/clothing that will last for years to come. My husband especially loves their 100% thick cotton, long sleeve pull-on shirts he uses when it's frigid- and he's had them for a while now and still look good as when I first purchased them. Now that we own a home in the Catskills, this is where we come for clothes that are more neutral- with an almost minimalist feel. But this is also the place to make all your outdoor dreams come true. .

However, there are these two females who work there, one who claims to be assistant manager and co-worker, who say they aren't being discriminating towards Africans but they are. The staff here is friendly for the most part and they do have a wide variety of items. Mostly what they do carry is clothing and shoes. They do have some sporting stuff I know that they carry very limited ice skates hockey pucks footballs, football equipment they do carry baseball bats helmets etc. The staff is hit or miss I went here one time and I had a staff member come right up to me and ask me if I needed help with anything. on another occasion I have the staff just standing around and I had to go up and ask them the question. This most recent time I needed to get a New York Mets T-shirt for spring training in Florida. I went to four different places and I finally decided to come here and they were the only place that carried the player T-shirts. I needed a player T-shirt because I was going to wear my actual game worn player jersey but I figured it was going to be really hot to wear the jersey so I wanted to get the T-shirt with the player name on the back just in case. Unfortunately when I got in the store the only New York Mets T-shirt they had was a Matt Harvey. I would say for baseball clothes 90% of the stuff was for the New York Yankees. They did have bar wear cups mugs. Overall this Olympia sports is a small store if you're coming here for clothes it's a good idea because they do carry a lot of clothes other than that you might want to try a different store just because you might actually have to order it about of their catalog if it's actual sporting goods items.

This is an actual sole proprietorship in a workd of chain stores, so there's quirky parts to it. But I always find something really cool here and have really interesting conversations with the owner Steven. It feels really good to go into a store, which is actually curated by somebody who's had a lifetime of running retail, so it's not all pre-programmed generic, but filled with interesting things in every little corner.

Hi Steven P or Management,…read more The individual working at the store today is unbelievably rude - no sense of customer service - walked in never looked up from his cellphone to acknowledge anyone. I was looking at a sweater didn't see my size - I continued to carry on in the store because I genuinely love it. Today the back room was covered in open boxes making it very difficult to shop regardless I found a stack of the sweaters (the one I was looking for). The guy working proceeded to yell at me stating they were all out. I said I'm looking for the grey sweater in a large - to which he replied "we don't have grey". I pointed at the stack and I know I'm not color blind but maybe he is, so I said that's grey. He pulled the sweater out and throws it at me! Yes throws it! He was mad he had to get off his seat, his phone and actually work. I put everything down my family and I walked out! Individual working on Thursday 7/27! As a business owner I would like to know how my employees are interacting with customers. This unfortunate situation just pushed me out, I'll take my business somewhere else

But, they didn't blow us off! I have quite a bit of experience in orthotics and prosthetics. Before I retired, that's what I used to do. Measure & Fabricate orthotics, and prosthetics, at the VA. Sales associate, Wendy, actually measured and did pressure analysis of my friend's gait. After watching her attention to detail, I asked if she had taken pedorthic fitters courses? I didn't tell her who I was. Haven't seen such attention to detail and custom service in decades! The majority of places, nowadays, that claim to sell shoes, have a couple of people standing around, that basically fill in stock or act as cashiers. She made suggestions as to what would be most appropriate, for his feet and conditions; not what is the most expensive shoe, she could sell. They have clothing, accessories, and other merchandise related to running and hiking. They can make inserts for your shoes, they also have them premade. There are boxes of various sized foot coverings to try shoes on with if you didn't wear socks. Never a good idea, unless you're wearing flip-flops. I was very impressed with the place, it's also very clean and well organized.

I wish I could afford to support smaller stores like this, but I only have so much money to spend on gear. The rest is spent on play! I will keep coming back to Mountain Tops for their kayak rentals. Living in NYC, I do have to make the trek upstate for my outdoor activities. I hike and camp in the Hudson highlands and now kayaking will be added to the list as a regular activities. Mountain Tops makes it too easy! My first experience with them was last year. My boyfriend and I booked a kayaking tour to Bannerman's Island, which included an on-island tour. Neither of us had ever kayaked, but after a quick tutorial we were on our way, with their guides nearby, of course. The guides are great (well, they were great that day) and they have comparable prices. Now that we know what to do, we go straight to the waterfront and rent out kayaks for the day so that we could paddle the river and pull up on random little shores to explore. It's an affordable and easily accessible activity. Tours need to be booked online or at the actual store location on Main Street. Kayak rentals can be done at the waterfront, depending on availability. And yes, you can use your card at the waterfront! I do wish they had later hours. Imagine kayaking in a sunset...oh!
