But if you haven't experienced those outdoor adventures, Kenco is way more than that. When we've vacationed in the Catskills throughout the seasons and have accidentally forgotten to pack either my shorts, winter gloves, rain boots or anything else, Kenco, slightly off Rt 28 in Kingston, has been the place to come to for those. Kenco is a privately-owned and independent company staying true to their number one priority-provide customers with the highest quality products- that can handle any weather condition up here in the Catskills. The store is massive with women's clothing on one side, men's on another- then their other departments follow. And yes, prices are steep- but these folks carefully select their products and only want to sell reliable gear/clothing that will last for years to come. My husband especially loves their 100% thick cotton, long sleeve pull-on shirts he uses when it's frigid- and he's had them for a while now and still look good as when I first purchased them. Now that we own a home in the Catskills, this is where we come for clothes that are more neutral- with an almost minimalist feel. They have pieces dating back to the 40's (and maybe even earlier than that). We were able to find an awesome pair of military fatigues, two perfect fitting Levi's and a couple of really cool genuine military and vintage over-shirts. The owner of the shop was so helpful in pulling pieces for me to try on, especially after telling her I don't love trying on denim. The two pairs of pants she passed me were the ones I ended up buying. Overall 12/10 experience. The ambiance of the shop is great, customer service is A+ and we really enjoyed our time here. The staff here is friendly for the most part and they do have a wide variety of items. Mostly what they do carry is clothing and shoes. They do have some sporting stuff I know that they carry very limited ice skates hockey pucks footballs, football equipment they do carry baseball bats helmets etc. The staff is hit or miss I went here one time and I had a staff member come right up to me and ask me if I needed help with anything. on another occasion I have the staff just standing around and I had to go up and ask them the question. This most recent time I needed to get a New York Mets T-shirt for spring training in Florida. I went to four different places and I finally decided to come here and they were the only place that carried the player T-shirts. I needed a player T-shirt because I was going to wear my actual game worn player jersey but I figured it was going to be really hot to wear the jersey so I wanted to get the T-shirt with the player name on the back just in case. Unfortunately when I got in the store the only New York Mets T-shirt they had was a Matt Harvey. I would say for baseball clothes 90% of the stuff was for the New York Yankees. They did have bar wear cups mugs. Overall this Olympia sports is a small store if you're coming here for clothes it's a good idea because they do carry a lot of clothes other than that you might want to try a different store just because you might actually have to order it about of their catalog if it's actual sporting goods items.

But I always find something really cool here and have really interesting conversations with the owner Steven. It feels really good to go into a store, which is actually curated by somebody who's had a lifetime of running retail, so it's not all pre-programmed generic, but filled with interesting things in every little corner.

I was looking at a sweater didn't see my size - I continued to carry on in the store because I genuinely love it. Today the back room was covered in open boxes making it very difficult to shop regardless I found a stack of the sweaters (the one I was looking for). The guy working proceeded to yell at me stating they were all out. I said I'm looking for the grey sweater in a large - to which he replied "we don't have grey". I pointed at the stack and I know I'm not color blind but maybe he is, so I said that's grey. He pulled the sweater out and throws it at me! Yes throws it! He was mad he had to get off his seat, his phone and actually work. I put everything down my family and I walked out! Individual working on Thursday 7/27! More generally, I appreciated how there was a nice range of brands across all the product categories including some brands you simply will not find elsewhere locally. If top-notch specialty run product selection is what you're after, this is the place for you. But wait, there's more... The service here is phenomenal. For those unfamiliar, FFS has a few tools at their disposal to help find the "right" shoe for you. This includes 3D foot scanning and gait analysis via video recording and slow motion playback. I was assisted by Jill who was very knowledgeable, friendly, personable, and efficient. I was super impressed with how a "history" was taken first (i.e. running background, injury and shoe history, current shoe wear pattern, etc.). Of course, the anthropometric data from the 3D scanning was interesting but I really feel as if I've developed an intuition for how it should be used to inform the shoe selection process from this experience as well. I also really liked being able to take part in the gait analysis. This is something I tried to do by myself in the past but nothing is quite as awkward or seemingly narcissistic as trying to take a slow motion video recording of your own legs at the gym. Yikes. To be clear, it's not simply the technologies themselves but rather the thoughtful integration of these technologies and data into the shoe selection process by highly adept staff and the sharing of this expertise that makes this place exceptional and pretty much inimitable. This is the single greatest point of differentiation between FFS and competitors; it's the reason I now refuse shop elsewhere for trainers. Highly recommended.

While I was looking around there was a customer running on a treadmill trying out running shoes, before making a purchase. The staff seems more knowledgeable about shoes, orthotics, foot anatomy, and how to fit shoes, than most shoe stores do nowadays. I should have asked if anyone had taken the test for to be a certified pedorthist? No matter now. Although, I didn't find what I was looking for; what impressed me the most is there was no "hard" sell tactics or being brushed off because i wasn't buying shoes that day. I will keep them in mind if someone I know is looking for proper chasseur (shoes). = )
