I had a great experience with Gabbie at the check out because I asked her to see if I had any money left on my gift cards and one of the gift cards went through but the other didn't and after swiping 3 times she took the initiative and manually put the numbers in to see if there was anything on it. thankfully it went through and not only did I have enough to pay the remainder of my purchase for my soccer ball and pickle balls but I had an additional $15.75. Probably the least helpful, disenfranchised group of employees ever assembled are in the guns/fishing department. After four visits the result has always been the same: completely ignored with questions answered typically with one word. Why are these people so unhappy? Each seems more remote and unfriendly than the next. Ugh, go to your small gun store for more attentive and friendly service. Will never return. read more

Standard dicks with all the things you'd expect to find. I came here to but ammo before going to the range and the retired Marine behind the counter pointed me in the right direction and was a great help. I also loved seeing that dicks hired a vet. The next time I am in town and need ammo for the range I will be sure to return. FYI I price checked against the other sporting goods store across the street and dicks was the cheaper of the two. read more

Wonderful store with just about everything you could need. Large selections of golf equipment and supplies. Shelby was particularly helpful at check out and made the shopping experience extra special. Definitely recommend, and will continue doing business with them! read more

I was looking for football cleats and they were so nice to me and now I love the place

I brought my service dog in, and a woman working there asked to pet her. I corrected my dog because the woman bent down to pet her even though I had not given her permission. Then, she asked the person I was with if she could pet MY service dog. The person I was with asked where a section was, and she said she would only tell him if she could pet my service dog. I ended up letting her because I didn't want to deal with it anymore. But not acceptable behavior. read more

Lied to and let down. Went into Dick's in Kingston NY looking for the one thing our 14 year old with asked for. They said the could order it and it would be here by Christmas eve. I asked the salesman SEVERAL TIMES ...ARE YOU SURE?? I can drive one hour and get the same item so if you can't get this to me by Christmas eve I'd rather drive an hour. I explained that my boyfriends and his son's like to fish, hike and spend time outdoors, all except one. And this kid finally found something him and his father like to do outdoors and all his asked for was this archery target. So if it was not possible please let me know now. The salesman assured me they just got an email from the corporation today that this would be possible. Complete sales tactic that I fell for. I checked the tracking # tonight and it won't be here the 24th, it will arrive the 29th. Call the store, the manager explained that is not possible because if a merchant runs out of an item ordered by more than one person, that someone would not be getting what they ordered. When I asked the manager why would this employee tell me it was possible, and to go as far as look the email up in front of me to confirm it could be? She had no answer. Realizing I was getting no where with the store, I called the corporation, here's where it gets interesting. The guy on the phone told me to call UPS and ask why it is going to take 5 more days to get here, and to ask if it could be intercepted and supplied me the # to call. I told him I would try, but if they can't help me I would be calling back very very upset. He said oh no, please don't call back upset, I might get the call and don't want to deal with drama and laughed!!! Mind you I was nothing but nice on the phone. Sooo I call UPS, After being on hold 32 minutes a very nice lady told me nothing could be done and they should have shipped it next day if they were going to make that promise. So as promised (cause I mean what I say) I called Dick's corperation back. When I explain the story to the next guy he is shocked I was told to call UPS!!! And the best part of it all is I can't get money back but they can give me a store credit!!! Reason being you ask?? We only had cash on us at the store, the register that the salemans had the order placed on didn't except cash so we had to go upfront and was made to buy the gift card, as this way the only way to order it!!! So now I'm pissed and I want to speak to a regional manager, but I was then told it would take 24-48 hours for that to happen!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! All I want is to know I can get my money back so I can go to a store that has the archery target and actually buy it and they can't give even give me a call back to let me know if that's possible??? Thank you Dick's for ruining this kids Christmas. He didn't ask for video games or expensive electronics like his brother or even most kids his age, he asked for something that you promised me would be here and now all I can give him is a picture of it. Your policies are terrible, your employees are directed by your corporate office to guarantee something that is not possible just to make a sale, and if you can't take cash at all register's in your stores then don't have a register in that department! So people are forced to buy a gift card so they can't get cash back if returning the item!! Oh but wait, then you wouldn't benefit from it because you'd have to give me my money back and not a friggen store credit when I don't want to ever step foot in one of your locations again!! This company took my little girls money and won't give it back. This probably applies more to their internet department then the Kingston location but they are involved too. I took my daughter to the store and we picked out a Northface rain jacket. She just got some cash for Christmas. Her size was not in stock but they offered to order it online at the store with free shipping. When we tried to pay they said they would not accept cash but we could purchase a gift card, which we did. The salesperson ordered the jacket for us with the store's computer. Today we got an email stating that the item was no longer in stock. I called the customer service number and they said they could only issue a new gift card in 3-5 days, and not the cash we paid. I asked if they could do anything else for my daughter because now she is out the cash and can't buy the jacket elsewhere. They offered 10 per cent off another item, but we were already given this when the item wasn't in and is apparently standard. The customer service rep spoke with his superviser "Susan" who said the company was not willing to help out at all. I think it is horrible that a company like Dicks thinks it's ok to steal a little girls Christmas money and refuses to help. I guess they don't care about their image. I won't go back. read more

Are you in the camping supply buying mood? Try Dick's Sporting Goods. They got almost everything to meet anyone's camping desire(although they don't stock several brands of the same type of item anywheres in the store-your limited to just the one brands/style/type of item(I.e. if you're looking for camp light, you'll find Coleman, but no competitors comparison items)). Their prices are a little steeper on some items, but it all comes out well in the end, when you figure in the whole experience. read more
