I purchased $28 worth of gas, but it took $175 out of my account. This has never happened here before. I told Gas station attendant and he said it may take 72 hours to get $147 back. I will review back if I get my money back. read more

Wife paid 130 dollars to fill up a sedan that holds 16 gallons. The price was supposedly 6 a gallon. Something doesn't add up.

Very good all around, prices slightly high for an arco, but still better than most places

I've been going here for 20 years. I like them a lot. when I'm on foot, I cut the corner so I can go past the front door and wave it to fellows inside. read more

Crap gas, customer service is non-existent here, and one of the employees is comatose. BYPASS THIS GAS STATION.

Do I love this gas station? Of course not. It's pretty tiny, I can never really access it easily because of the traffic lights that border it's entrance and the prices aren't exactly a huge dippity dip for typical AMPM prices. But I will say that the staff that work here treat me amazing and on Monday they sealed the deal. Here is why. Me, breathless, running in, having to pee as I absolutely always do: "OMG do you guys have a bathroom?!" Fabulous Employee: "No, I'm sorry." Me, exasperated but ready to plead 'til the death: "I don't believe you. I know you guys have to pee and I love you, please!" Fabulous Employee, slowly losing his resilience in the face of my misery: "Okay, fine. It's not for customers though. It may not even be clean." And with that, he grabbed a bright green carabiner from beneath the counter and extended it to me. I thanked him a billion times and ran outside to the restroom (which definitely wasn't clean, but I employed my classic hover-and-cover mechanism to keep myself protected. If you don't know what that means, I'm pretty sure you probably have a UTI or something from public restrooms by now.) When I was finished, I ran back to return the key and verbally blessed the man and his family a billion more times for his graciousness. And that's why this AMPM is getting five stars. The End. read more

Arco AMPM here is an older station, very small, hardly any spaces for parking, 4 short lanes for pumping gas. gas higher than other arco's (3.87) convenience store very small. brew: coffee (1.39) -100% columbian tasted nasty. sat around too long? read more

Don't trust this place. Read other reviews. The charged my husband $150 to fill his 10 gallon VW Bug. That is impossible. They won't admit to this fraud or mistake. Save your money. This cheap gas isn't worth getting ripped off. read more

NO BATHROOMS. HOSTILE MAN. The Icee machine wasn't working, so it took me a couple minutes to choose my drink. Gray-skinned tall thin white man behind counter stared at me the entire time, so I asked him about it. "Did I accuse you of stealing?" "No, but I feel like taking my money to buy gas somewhere else." He then grabbed my drink out of my hand and motioned for me to leave. So leave, I did. While I sat in my car, typing this review, he threatened to call the cops on me if I didn't leave. I am a 5'2" Korean woman. If he treated me like this, imagine how darker people get treated. I was the only car at the station at the time. read more

I was driving Doordash tonight. In the middle of a delivery I stopped in to buy a Pepsi. The clerk was having a heated religious discussion with some guy. The price said $1.89. I walked up to the counter and asked is $2.00 enough? He said it's $2.12. I had 8 cents in my pocket and I asked if that was close enough. He said, "Do you do this everywhere you go?" I said do you want another dollar. He came back with no but the clerks like if you pay the full amount. I offered and he declined. What's funny is I used to buy a coffee, a newspaper and $30 worth of gas at this place every morning. It's not even the cheapest gas in the area but I like the owner. Needless to say, if you're going to break my balls over 4 cents I'll be taking my $200 a week gasoline business down the street to the 76 station. They just lost a customer for life read more

First time I've really wanted a zero star option. God-awful service, stay the hell away. I stopped by this place after using gasbuddy.com app because it reported that they had the cheapest gas in the area by a few cents. What wasn't apparent was the 35 cent fee they tack on if you use a card that completely obliterates any savings you may have scraped by with by coming here. So, whatever, I was already here so I figured may as well fill up. When I go to fill the tank, the pump immediately stopped after I had only put in 7 cents worth of fuel. No way to start it again without starting a new transaction, thereby charging an additional fee for the oh so glorious privilege of being able to give them my money. I walked in to the station to talk to the attendant and he was sitting behind the counter on the phone chatting with someone. After walking straight up to the counter, he turned his back on me to finish his conversation before even acknowledging I was there. After I explained what happened, he just shrugged and told me that I shouldn't have stopped the pump. I didn't stop the goddamn pump, it was and likely probably still is broken. I asked if he could waive the fee and he just said, "No, no." That was it, no explanation or apology or even acknowledgement. Ended up just driving down the street to one of the many infinitely better stations on Telegraph. If you want to be treated like trash, by trash, come on down. read more

My number #1 preferred gas station! Faheem and his father always greets us warmly. Fair prices on gas and snacks. Yes, there is a 35 cent debit charge and it's best to go inside to purchase your gas. There have been numerous Steph Curry sighting there too. If it's good enough for the MVP, then 5 stars! read more

Iv been going here m-f for about 2 months now. Today I pull in and I get caught up on my phone and don't get out of the truck right away. The guy comes out to my truck and tells me I need to leave. I said I was going to get gas and something inside. He said No you're not your gas tank is on the other side. I'm not a parking lot, you need to leave! Iv been watching you, you sit there for 5 minutes. At this point I'm heated and don't wanna give this rude man anymore of my money, so I left! I will NEVER go back there again, even if it's the zombie apocalypse and he's got the only working gas pump!! sucks cause they have my favorite jolly ranchers read more

WARNING: SOMETIMES THEIR PUMPS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT-OFF, LEAVING GAS - THAT YOU PAID FOR - SPILLING ALL OVER YOUR CAR. Growing up and living in Los Angeles, I have literally filled up my car thousands of times, and the automatic shut-off feature has never not worked. However, I went into this Arco, started pumping gas, and ran inside to get a drink. Someone came running into the AM/PM, saying that my car was spilling gas everywhere, so he had (thankfully) stopped it from pumping. I went out and found that my car and the gas station itself was covered in gasoline. I had paid nearly $50 for what should have been $15 of gas. (Not money I can waste, mind you) The employee, while nice, said that the pumps were broken and didn't always work, and that 1/100 times, they would fail to shut off and spill gas everywhere. He said that they "recommended" people stay next to their cars and pump the gas. I would have gladly done that if there had been a warning outside. There was not. And there was no indication the pump was broken. He did not offer to refund the money I had spent on his broken pump, or apologize, but acted like I should have stayed by my car. Nope. When I got home, I found out this had happened to my partner, too, so I feel like it definitely happens more often than 1/100. P.S. I wrote to BP about the gasoline spill all over the ARCO and my car. They told me it was impossible and couldn't have happened because the gas pumps were all up to date. REALLY HEPFUL. But then again, it IS BP, so... evil. read more

I have been going to this gas station since I was in elementary school. I have never had an issue until today. I ran in there to get coffee and happened to be in a rush. I grabbed a couple of creams for it. I went to the register to pay and the older guy who's usually there in the morning said I had to use the cream while I was in the store. I said excuse I'm not quite sure I understand. He basically said that I cannot take the creamer with me and needed to add it to my coffee now. I asked why and he said that's just the rule of the store. I said it's a ridiculous rule and I'm in a rush so I don't have time to have this conversation or "dress" my coffee the way I like it. I asked what do you think I'm going to do with the cream sell it ?! I've never heard of something like this before. I stopped there because it's convenient and cheap. Long story short I will not be returning to an establishment that makes you feel awkward for wanting to take a few creams with you. I know this may be petty to some but customer service is a big deal when spending MY MONEY. The coffee was also watery as well. I had to use all the cream I took to make it taste like something besides watered down coffee. read more

ARCO - Gas Stations Near Me - Oakland, California

Getting gas is just one of those necessary evil's for those of us who don't own electric cars. So why not write about my neighborhood gas station? Only about 8 pumps, but the prices are some of the best in the area and I've never experienced a line. Convenient stop on my way home from the Claremont/Rockridge area. It's A-OK in my book. read more

This gas station is hella busy!!! Getting there just sucks. I do come at times to get some Peace Tea, lotto tickets and occasionally gas (I work at Children's Hospital). The employees can be nice, I have never had a problem with them. But some of the people that come to this place... I saw a guy just pissing next to his car while filling up his girl's gas tank! I just shook my head in disbelief. Since this is at a busy off ramp point, getting in and out can be tricky! read more

Up until now, this is a station where I purchased gas at a few times a year (I drive very few miles and get a fill-up about once a month). I don't purchase snacks, and my gas station experiences are quick - I pay through the machines (sometimes cash, sometimes plastic), and have few face-to-face interactions with station personnel. (As a disabled person, who could sometimes use help pumping gas, I would love to find a station that actually has humans to help - as is required by law in CA for disabled customers - but I know of none in the North Oakland-Berkeley area). Jan 13, 2010, I went to get $20 of gas, and their machine ate my money. Response of the person working there? They accused me of trying to scam them! Claimed they would be emptying the machine 6 days later, (which sounds suspicious to me, don't they empty 'em more often that that?) and would let me know... also said they would review their security tapes to see if I had put the money in the machine... No big surprise, I didn't hear from them, so I went in on Jan 22 to follow-up. They said: - there wasn't an extra $20 in the machine when they emptied it - when I specifically asked about the security tapes, they hesitated before answering, then said, oh, yah, we could see your face but not whether or not you put any money n the machine (well, why did they previously tell me they *could* see that by reviewing the tapes?). - again said to me, are machines are good, and you are making up a story to rip us off They were incredibly rude to me, and they are lying. They stole $20 from me. They get zero stars from me! read more

Hostile, rude manager and faulty gasoline pumps. Be extra careful if you patronize this terrible gas station. I'll never go there again. Due to a malfunction of their credit card machine, I ended up inadvertently having to pay $100 extra for the gasoline pumped by another patron. When I discovered the malfunction and brought the problem to the attention of the station manager on duty (by that time the other driver had driven off), he told me it was all my fault - there is nothing wrong with his machines. This despite me having proof in hand of the error. Ignoring for a moment that I've been a steady client of this business for years, why would I take the time to write a Yelp review of a gas station unless I had been screwed by this establishment? I will write and express my displeasure to whomever is the station's owner, to ARCO Corporation, the City of Oakland, and the Better Business Bureau. Nonetheless, I think I've lost $100 because of their f-ing machine. read more

I'd never imagined that I would ever have the thought, "I should review this gas station," but these guys deserve it. I got stranded without gas last night -- and this place was open late. I expected the usual, some condescending dude who assumes female incompetence and just wants you out of there. But the man working here was super friendly, patient, and clear in explaining how to use the gas can, and really wanted to help make sure my car would start up when I came back with issues. Went well out of his way to help. Stellar service, and I'm coming back here regularly, for sure. read more

Gas sprayed all over the front of my neck and shirt. When I went to get cleaned up the owner blamed me for doing it wrong! He took his sweet time showing me where to go and clean up. Told me I was pumping the gas wrong, then that my tank was full, then that my pump was broken. Never once apologizing or taking any responsibility for what happened. I already have a call into the company. My clothes are ruined and I am glad the gas didn't spray in my face. read more

USE CASH ONLY!!! BEWARE OF USING YOUR DEBIT CARD HERE!! Would not provide one star if I didn't have too. This is the ONLY place I had ever used my new debit card, and within one month of my first purchase I have had over $2k of fraudulent charges on my card. Gas is gas, the price is good but the staff is horrible. The only why I would use this station again is if my choice was to fill up or push my car home. read more

rude guy , was probably having a bad day but thats not my problem. theres many gas stations nearby go elsewhere

I try to go this station everyday, excellent service and can't complain about the prices. I first started to use this location because it was conveniently on the way to work. After continuous appearances, the tenders inside began to recognize me and we have since developed a nice little acquaintanceship. I really appreciate their service, they're very aware of what they're doing and they care about their job; which a good number of customers don't notice and/or acknowledge. Luckily, they continue to show up for work despite the shitty rude stupid ignorant people they have to deal with and that's earned them a set of loyal regulars, as any humble, hardworking business should. read more

Muhammad - the guy running the joint when I was here - was super nice and friendly. The cash machine outside didn't work, so I paid inside. My girlfriend bought a couple of drinks and upon receiving her change said "oh, i think you gave me too much back". He said, "oh, those are on sale actually. but, you're the first customer to ever say that in all of my time here. thank you!" Very complimentary. I went around back to use the restroom while the gas was finishing up and when I came around the corner, he was outside having a smoke (probably not smart now that I think about it) waiting with my change. He took the restroom key and said "have a good day, my friend". Pretty nice guy - and cheapest gas around if you have cash (which anyone living in Berkeley needs!) read more

These guys are idiots! They are either very stupid or pulling some sort of scam. I walked in and got stared at like a thief. I grabbed some pastries and a coffee. I handed the clerk (who was obviously new) $25. $6 of which was spent on food and the rest on my pump. That leaves about $19 left for gas. Pump stopped at $9.78 and I went back in to collect my change. The clerk had this stupid look on his face and said there wasn't any change. The clerk told me I was wrong and that I handed him $15. First of all, I had one $5 bill and the rest were $20 dollar bills. I had zero $10 which he claims I used. After waiting 10 minutes for them to ring up everyone who came in after me, they finally emptied his cash drawer and counted everything and told me that they were short $3. I told them that is not my problem and I wanted my change and they accused me of being a thief and threatened to call the cops. I hate this gas station and I WILL NEVER GO BACK! I will not be accused of being a thief. Especially by a bunch of scammers. read more

This place gets a bad rap. First off, Faheen takes care of his regular customers but doesn't tolerate bullshit. Approach with a positive attitude and you will be rewarded with friendly service. I was really appalled by the middle eastern man managing this gas station I filled up my car and was trying to clean my window with the station's filthy water and squeegee. I noticed something that looked like sap on my window was trying to determine if it was also on the hood of my car. This crazy started yelling at me to stop suing the squeegee - like I was washing my car with it?? I barely touched my car with it! It was bizarre. Enough for me to mention the experience to a policeman I know. What an ugly, rude man! This was after I handed him $40 for the gas.
