I'm shocked by the negative reviews and have to say my experience is completely contradictory. I patronize this station/mini mart several times a week and find the owners to be pleasant, helpful, and generous, and they treat myself and my wife like family. I'm not sure if I'd ever return to this location for a handful of reasons. First off the gas here is incredibly expensive in comparison to other gas stations that aren't too far out of the way. Given that it's Shell, of course the gas is high quality. There is no argument there, but I could tell that customers are not that fond of the staff inside. They gave off the impression that they just don't care to be there nor do they think providing customers quality service matters. I don't really have much to say other than if you need gas, this place provides it but if you're looking for a deal and seek to engage with friendly employees, this isn't the place for you. 1/5. read more

this station is billed as a "mini mart" but has no parking available. all spaces taken by zipcars. cold beverages not priced but cold covfefes are. air & water costs $1. drink: "hong van" grass jelly drink (10 oz- 1.50) -hardly any grass jelly, most sugar cane flavored water & honey taste. -all beverages have lots of sugar. no sugar free teas..... read more

The workers/owners here are very rude and price gouge. The older man behind the counter "rang" me up and did not scan anything. He made up prices and when I asked about it he insisted that a bag of trolli candy that I bought 2 weeks ago for $2 was 3.99$. They were super shady and they insisted I was lying. The employees obscured the fact that automotive air/water/gauge are free to customers buying fuel, per CA state law, until I pressed them on it. But, they have the wrong air valve -- it's just a stream of air that doesn't push the tire valve pin out of the way. In response, they said they just spent $$$$ replacing it. Do yourself and everyone else a favor and don't bring your business here. They are as rude as everyone is saying in the reviews. read more

Tended by the most incredibly hostile couple (who appear to actually live in the attached convenience store)! I broke down there last night and they had absolutely NO pity, showed little mercy. Came out and threatened me with towtruck action multiple times while I waited for my roadside assistance. Really, I honestly halfway thought they might shoot me before I managed to drag my car off of their lot! (An honest, human problem; my ignition switch went out, doesn't make me a terrorist or whatever they were thinking!). I would avoid this place if you can. They'd always been unfriendly, just not openly aggressively hostile until my misfortune gave them an opportunity to do so. Also, too expensive and they always have been. This gas station is abysmal. Seriously, it's worth driving another half mile just to get gas elsewhere. The gas prices here are suuuper jacked up (think 20 cents more per gallon than you'd pay at Chevron in Temescal!!). On top of that, the people who work here are downright MEAN. I've now seen the owners yell at two separate people for a) pumping gas too slowly (Whaa?) and b) parking in the wrong place while checking tire pressure. Speaking of which - if you need to check your tire pressure, air (that is... AIR) costs - get this!! Not 25 cents for 4 tires like some places, and not 50 cents for 4 tires like other places, but - wait for it - 50 cents for TWO tires. Just 2 of them!! Which means it's a buck just to check your tire pressure. After you finish checking 2 tires, you have to plug in more quarters if you want to finish the job. Go anywhere else. read more

How do I know that, he said ... Horrible. Paid for gas and asked for air to pump my tires. I was able to fill 1 and a half tires (was maybe moving slow but still) before going in to ask for it to be turned on again. As far as I know, California law states that you should receive free air if you are a paying customer, (maybe free in general). Despite this, I was told I could not receive more air and that I would have to pay more. She went on a rant about how much the machine costed and other things. I tried to remain polite but her rudeness really ticked me off when I merely wanted to fill my tires and be on my way. Waste of time and terrible management, bring your business elsewhere. read more

Horrible service, came here and said I needed gas and to use the restroom, the guy said I have to pay and pump my gas first. Wtf! I said that doesn't make sense I need to go to the restroom so I'd rather do that first. He said well you need to pay first. Worst Human beings possible working at this location... We stopped as my 10 year old daughter had to use the bathroom really bad. My wife took her in and was told that we had to make a purchase because "BATHROOMS WERE FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY" Mind you, we are from out of town and did not know the area. So I turned my car around and pulled it to the pump so she could use the restroom... As I am pumping gas, this little Asian woman came out to the pump that I was using. I had just gotten my card approved for debit and she began yelling at me at the top of her lungs!!! "BATHROOM FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY! NEXT TIME YOU PEE YOUR PANTS! I DONT CARE! YOU WHOLE FAMILY OF LIARS!!! YOU KIDS LIE!!! YOU LIE!!!" Totally unprofessional and horrible!!! I bought gas so they could use the restroom. Their pumps do not work as the gas pumps out really slow and their customer service has been subpar. They do not maintain the equipment and this can be costly and dangerous to customers. They appear to be an older married couple and do not assist if their are issues with gasoline spills that are dangerous. Their response to clean up those spills is to use paper towels so this must be a normal practice for them. In my case today I had the final straw as I was pumping gas the gas proceeded to overflow and got all over my car and my shoes. It also spilled on the floor. The owners did nothing to remedy this and blamed me for this occurence. Other clients complained that their pumps were pumping way to slow as well. Clearly one of the worst gas station and Customer service. The owners are extremely rude and disrespectful. They don't care if their gas pump was broken and they will yell at you if you just stop a few sec or use the bathroom. As an Asian myself i'm shame of that Asian couple. The owner is the least pleasant gas station owner I've ever encountered... which is quite the yikes I went to get myself a slurpy and like a dumb ass noticed about a quarter second in that the one I was getting had the "don't use this light on." So, expecting that it would be fine to put the dozen mL of watery slurry into the overflow tray I dumped it out. The owner instantly informed me in about the rudest way possible that I was not supposed to do that. I apologized profusely and offered to clean it for her, instead she told me it would cost 300$ to clean the drip tray and that she didn't want to sell to me. I asked her what she wanted me to do with the cup then and was told that I would have to pay for the cup and lid and grudgingly told to get some of the other color of slurpy (which was also completely melted even though the light didn't show). Close to campus and my apartment but not the cheapest gas around. Although it's much cheaper than that one Valero on the corner of university and MLK, it's usually at least 10 cents more expensive than most other places in the neighborhood. This is a horrible gas station and it pains me to stop here for gas. As it is the closest to campus, it is the most convenient place for me to get Gas; however, if there was another one this convenient I would surely not be here. The customer service is horrible- they don't always believe you pumped your gas so they won't let you use the bathroom. They once asked me which pump, looked it up, and told me I need to buy something anyway. Like, what? I just pumped my gas. I always try to be as polite as possible to them but their rudeness really ticks me off. They carry good items in the store and for the most part are good at the gas pumps, but the entire experience ruins it. Also, one time my dad got a flat tire right outside of the gas station so he pulled in. The lady came out yelling at me... I am like ???? His tire just popped??. She told him to move... they also won't give you free air and will be very rude in telling you to pay for it. The bathrooms are okay, but for the most part the whole struggle to use the bathroom should atleast come with a cleaner bathroom.
