Review Visit: August 14th, 2017…read more All I have to say is... half-pound cookies. No, I do have a bit more to say than that. I've been to Burlington a handful of times and since my last visit, this cozy of a place must've opened for business... and what a treat for Burlington it is. First off, they have half-pound cookies that are delicious. In the featured image, you can see a snickerdoodle cookie and it is as delicious as it looks. I ordered a iced caramel latte to go with it and together, it was a perfect combination. They had quite a few different flavors to choose from and the chocolate chip was a close second. As typical with more coffeehouses/cafes, they have a small food menu with some delicious-sounding eats. What the Beanhouse brings to the table is they also serve alcohol. Nothing hard or crazy but if you want an afternoon beer with some half-pound cookies, then this is the place for you. For the Beancounter being fairly new, the interior tied together great and it was bright and welcoming. The lady working the counter was also really friendly and chatted us up a bit as we did the awkward 'first time here so we are looking around' thing. If you are in the area, this is a great place to stop. Grab yourself a beer/coffee, some food and a half-pound cookie or two!

The service was friendly, and fast. The overall surroundings were nice and 'homey', and everything was clean. After you order they give you a thing to put on your table and then they bring your order to you. Didnt have to wait long and a nice young man came by with our food. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and lattice fries meal for less than ten bucks. For this area, that is a good price for lunch. I dont remember if there was lettuce and tomato on the sandwich so I will pay closer attention next time. Fresh bun, good flavor on the chicken, and good spice level. The lattice fries were really good and salted just right. I couldnt figure out the ketchup at first, as it comes in a little plastic cup that you either pull the end off to squirt or peel the top back to dip. Same type of container for the chicken dipping sauce. These types of sauce containers make it hard to utilize all the ketchup or sauce. The pop was good. I wish there was a fountian where you could go back and get more, as the amount of ice in the drink seems to limit how much drink you are actually getting. The bathrooms reminded me of what you would get in a fancy hotel, from a design, cleanliness, and overall layout and function. Really impressed with that. Only suggestions would be to have fountain pop for refills, and have the condiments (maybe just the K and M) where the customer can squirt them out as needed. My coworker pointed out that the menu options are not a mile long. But I think we both agreed that they have figured out how nail a collection of items, and deliver a quick quality meal. I am going back, I am interested in consistency, how is it when they are busy, and is the service and quality the same from day to day. One thing I must add, is that if you want to replicate the chick fil a at home, get the red back chicken from aldi and, and get the dipping sauce they make. Aldi also has a bun that is the same. Makes me wonder if the chicken Aldi sells comes from the same people that make the chick fil a. It is that similar.

Review Visit: August 8th, 2016…read more Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo. I like to say that bar food is the best food, so when I am out and about exploring, I try to find pubs that have good reviews to eat at. With that train of thought in mind, The Buffalo came up on my radar one day after exploring Iowa. Having an empty belly that kept reminding me to get some food, I headed over to The Buffalo to see what they offered. Upon entering, I was greeted with the usual dim-lit bar scene. Nothing was too bright but nothing was too dark. It was the right mix of each. As for the bar itself, it was your typical bar with the usual decor that you see in most bars. What was unique about this place was the massive amount of writing on the ceiling. It seemed almost every ceiling tile had something scrawled on it. There may be a story to it, but it's not found on this out-of-towner. I ordered the The Western Bacon BBQ Burger with fries. I remember being disappointed in the small size of the burger but rather enjoying the taste of it and the fries. The small size of the burger was made up by the fries and I left with a mostly full belly and a smile on my face. Within reason, I am okay with smaller sizes if the flavor/quality blows me away. At some point during my visit, I noticed they sold those gimmicky pull tab lotto tickets. Being the sucker for a cheap thrill, I bought 2 for $1 or something like that. I won something like $0.50 and bought another pull tab.. which was a non-winner. Between the unique ceiling, tasty food, usual bar environment, and friendly customer service, I would have to say you won't be buffaloed by visiting this tavern.

Great friendly local bar. They have great drink specials. The Gouda cheese curds are terrific…read more Will be back for sure.
